Truly. You walk in a man in desperate need of bowel evacuation and walk out scarred, broken and in need of a hot shower.

Signalis never gave me existential dread, it basically made me fear the future of what society could be.
Forget space and monsters the true horror is learning the reality of that world and how worse off everyone is.
The nation's ongoing war with the empire costing them their homeworld, Ariane being shunned and losing people she loved and the many deaths of Elster throughout the cycle.

Signalis is one of very few games that tries to capture atmosphere of old survival horror games and in my opinion even surpassing it, I hope that Rose-Engine will develop new game in similar vein.
    Really cool video ^^

Sidenote, they patched the inventory system to hold eight items and the flashlight and eye items no longer take up a slot. It makes the gameplay much easier.

You got a new subscriber. Found your channel by watching your System Shock video. Loved the breakdown of that game. Thanks!

You do know that the puzzle on rotfront and not on leng. And Aeon dident build that room, ariane made it wuth bioresonance.

LOL this game hurts my head. Thanks for letting me know. The puzzle still makes use of "moon logic" so my point still stands but that is a good thing to know. So the corporation didn't build it but its still a bad puzzle.

To me, the puzzles and other malfunctions that make no sense are to me a result of Ariane's bioresonance altering reality into dream logic. Like Adler said, she's torn apart and reassembled reality and the errors are the results of a deeply traumatized woman's mind being at the root of this new reality. Her dying mind is caught in an extential nightmare and she's dragging everything and everyone in with her.

Come on man that moon puzzle is obviously intentionally fucked up, the KiY may as well be the inception spinning top

Ok so funny thing. The reasoning for the 6 inventory slots, the 6 “keys” for a puzzle that shows up twice (three times if you count the 5 key puzzle that really should have 6 keys), the fact sixes are everywhere, and the fact that you can’t escape the hexagons all stems from bioresonance. What or who that bioresonance is we don’t know, but there are several theories. Some believe it’s an eldritch entity far greater than we can comprehend (maybe the red eye mentioned in rotfront), some claim it’s the empress who created replikas, many chock it up to Ariane’s own destroyed body crying for help, others say it’s some ethereal aspect of bioresonance that links to the ritual and artifact, and a good handful just call it meta commentary of the creators and players participating in the game. Which is the right answer? We’ll never know. That said 6 is the calling card/tag of said bioresonance. It is the mark of its influence over the universe made real. So when Elster can’t pick up more than 6 items it’s not for a lack of space, it’s a literal rule of the universe caused by bioresonance that she can’t have more. Also they had an update which allows for expanded inventory where the eye and flashlight aren’t counted, and you can get 8 inventory slots instead of 6.
Ariane even has her own version of this which is 512. This number pops up a lot, from the Penrose to rotfront to the mining facility. It’s unknown which one is the start of this, but 512 pops up a lot around Ariane, and is her bioresonance mark on the universe.
Oh also another aspect of this influence is Nowhere. Like how rotfront is a creation of Ariane from her time there as a child, Nowhere is an external to this world place that binds together through bioresonance. It’s why the room layout makes zero sense, and there isn’t a map because it’s not really apart of this world. It’s fully an aspect of bioresonance. Rotfront is almost like this since it is built from bioresonance, but is made from actual memory. It’s got rooms becoming unavailable, its layout doesn’t make narrative sense while making layout sense, and it’s clearly out of time with the rest of the game with its notes and logs.
