I do not think souls will ever get stale. Fromsoft created their own game genre with the popularity of DS1. Souls like is far more fun than than literally anything else nowadays. This DLC was incredible for me it’s not perfect and it has a lot of issues more so than the base game but I enjoyed it a ton. I can think something it a 10/10 and know there is flaws. I’m for sure looking forward to anything Fromsoft does next be it a new game or another souls game. That’s also something I’m looking forward for the next souls game I love this genre.

I find it criminal how little views your previous videos have, despite your interesting takes. And yeah, Bloodborne was my favorite Soulsborne until SoTE came out. This is the pinnacle of what Soulsborne should be. Level design, exploration, build diversity, enemy types, bosses and overall questlines are at their peak here. Messmer and Bayle are now at the realm of the greatest bosses in the Soulsborne genre.
@@enman009 Thank you so much! That means a lot. The lead up to Bayle hyping him up is I think the best Fromsoft has ever done. Seeing all of the dead dragons that he presumably killed was awesome, that in combination with the cool regional effect of Bayle's lightning firing down around you is one of the coolest things I've ever seen.
I think they are gonna do something similar to Sekiro/Bloodborne next. There is a lot of untapped potential in that side of combat and weapon direction.
@@thefantasticfiend When I say that,I picture something like: Bloodborne trick weapons with ER ash of war system and Sekiro style movement and combat. That would be the dream game.
@@Arumia13 That's why I said "something similar" and not literally bloodborne. I wouldn't even want BB2 anyway,I'd prefer a totally new game but with combined systems from BB, Sekiro and ER.
Fextralife's "has FromSoft peaked" touches on the subject raised at the end of the video also, and they raise issues that, in good faith, I'm not happy to admit, but I have to agree with. But I think they should've added "in the souls genre", because if Armored Core 6 proved anything, it's that they can do other things very well. In the souls genre? Yeah, I can't see how anyone could improve the formula further without straying from it so much that it becomes some sort of Frankenstein's monster.
They can improve by removing open world and going back to refined gameplay instead of the ginormous, bloated, everything for everyone gameplay design of Elden Ring.
@@Onorel I do like Elden Ring and I think it has a lot of strength, mainly the lore, art, worldbuilding, themes etc. But the gameplay feels sloppy and unrefined a lot of the time. It's a miracle it doesn't feel worse, though, because of how large and free the design is. I think Sekiro has far superior combat to Elden Ring.
Honestly the skies the limit now. Hitting the limit on open world just means we can go back to the original formula with new twists. I’ll take well crafted limited sandboxes over open world design any day, but going through what felt like legacy dungeon to legacy dungeon until the game is over is just too special.
I think there is untapped potential still. Play with the magic system and make it more ingrained within the gameplay rather than an optional easy mode. Iterate on the open world design, honestly a smaller tighter world with more legacy dungeons than invoke traditional dark souls would be my approach. Shadow of the Erdtree was a miss for me in open world design, so much of the map just felt empty in comparison to the base game though the mini dungeons were better. And these are both things that are rumored to be the case in "Spellbound" the code name for the next from soft game. Granted this is all "leaks" and entirely speculative if it's true, but I think from soft sees these as viable routes for improvement. Also bloodbourne, I used to be content with it being a stand alone game but 10 years on I just feel untapped potential there. We really need a sequel and honestly bloodbourne deserves a trilogy. Maybe once spellbound (If it's real) and a bloodbourne trilogy and maybe a stand alone game or two have run their course there will be a decent accumulation of rain water in the dark souls well.
10 times??? Wow it took me around 300. I've got 600 hours across 5 playthroughs. What's funny is Gideon, Godfrey, Radagon, and elden beast took 45min if that 😂
I got very lucky and had completely run out of flasks and all my summons were dead. Had some lucky dodges and got the last hits in. When I fought him with my buddy for round two, we were stuck for a long time before we cheesed him. :P
The visuals are plain awesome. Most of the map/island is awesome. The size and content is ginormous. However, the DLC does a LOT of stuff wrong. Bland and empty map areas, recycled enemies over and over, overescalating bosses that annoy with endless combos, aoe spamming, roll traps, unlimited stamina and tiny windows, 90% of all loot is trash, etc. To me it sits in the middle of From DLC's. The Old Hunters and The Ringed City are FAR superior.
I actually found the Abyssal Woods naturally. I think i just saw a message for the illusory wall, and then I spent a good amount of time circling around the blank spot on the map trying to find a way down. Eventually I thought, maybe I should just go in the catacombs nearby as that has the potential to take me far enough down. As soon as I saw that those catacombs were especially deep and near pitch black, i knew i was on the right path. I did have to look up a guide on how to get to the shaman village and second finger ruins though. I don’t think i ever would have figured that out normally. Now when i get summoned for Gaius, I’ll do the Oh Mother gesture in front of Marika's statue if I notice the host hasn't unlocked the region, and I got a couple of people to do it.
I wholeheartedly disagree with Radahn being the hardest boss in Elden Ring. I beat him on my seventh try. Solo. No summons. The first time I played the base game I probably died to Malenia 60 times.
Good dlc Boss designs leave a LOT to be desired. A lot of attacks are unintuitive alongside making no sense For example one of my favorite bosses, messmer has a lot of good traits. that said his thrust delay does not need to have 360 degrees of tracking on it. This is one of the many boss design issues and deserves to be addressed and critisized. The dlc has some amazing lore and content, but the bosses could have been better.
No. these bosses are nit well designed, and are very inconsistent. Take for example radahns gravity pull, not only does it come out extremely fast it has a follow up which REQUIRES you to run away and jump Now this by itself isnt bad, HOWEVER gaius has an identical attack, and despite his shit fight you can dodge this initial part and the gravity rocks wont damage you whatsoever So what gaius gets a punish window but radahn cant? Very inconsistent designs. Or how about this, scadutree avatars nuke, one evaded you get a great punish window for multiple hits even with a Greatsword but relanna or messmer will do their super attack and you can maybe get one hit in with a greatsword(dont use a charge attack though) The dlc was very well made. but these bosses werent, they sacrificed fun for unintuitive difficulty And its not difficult in the "ahh man i cant do this because im bad" type of difficulty its "okay why can this guys thrust attack not only lunge forward 30 feet but also track me 360 degrees around" And there are a multitude of attacks that are not well designed I have not seen ANYONE genuinely dodge the first part of metyrs beam in her second phase without using some ash of war Because otherwise it is a dodge frame so tight the average player isnt dodging it. for a game that encourages use of amy and all builds having to actually use a specific AoW to dodge one attack in a fight is NOT very build friendly.
👍 re Abyssal Woods..yes, it’s hidden, but there IS a shiny sitting right by the ladder…sooooo 😄 and it is a bit of an annoyingly design area before the manse, but I can’t disagree with your review. I’m hoping they go back to their smaller/more authored style. Or Sekiro 2… please..into the west
I dont understand how gamers that claim to love elden ring so much but have never played bloodborne or dark souls 3. Wtf are you all waiting for? Whats the excuse? 😅 i say that cuz these types of games(fromsoftware) are so unique, once you play on and love it, you want to experience all the other ones! That was my experience coming in with dark souls 2. I didnt even finish it, i went and got demons souls and dark souls and started from the beginning. Idk maybe im just crazy.
It's massive but empty. When it's not empty, then occupied with main game enemies. This dlc is not a masterpiece. Let's be real. The beat thing about dlc is boss battles. That's it.
Elden ring is actually the hardest fromsoft game I don’t know why u consider it the easiest. I had an easier time with sekiro. The punish windows are tight and u have to mix dodging with attacking
Sekiro reminded me that I am not that good at video games. XD I never managed to beat it, I got extremely stuck and I haven't gone back yet. I will go back to it in time, but there are so many games I have to play first before I return to it.

What I hate most about Elden ring is feeling empty when you’re all done and wanting more 😂
100% agree!
For me, Fromsoft need to make more Armored Core games. They are the master of that genre.
Amazing video man! Well put together! Love this series so much, this DLC slapped. Funny cus on my main Character I thought I’d seen and got everything and nope, still finding stuff I never seen in other runs 🤣 earned a like and a sub from me! Goodluck with the channel bro 👌🏻 ( Strength or Bleed )
This series rocks. Thank so much for watching the video, I'm glad you enjoyed! Also nice, Strength and Bleed are the bomb.
Also I hope you tried the blacksteel hammer with seflect tear and guard counters with sacred + prayerful strike. Really good paladin build that's a ton of fun
Aye lets coop perfumer builds and lure invaders lol
@@Ochnun I hope so!
@@thefantasticfiend When I say that,I picture something like:
Bloodborne trick weapons with ER ash of war system and Sekiro style movement and combat. That would be the dream game.
They sadly don’t have the right to bloodborne, Sony does so it’s unlikely (though FromSoftware have said they won’t be apposed)
@@Arumia13 That's why I said "something similar" and not literally bloodborne.
I wouldn't even want BB2 anyway,I'd prefer a totally new game but with combined systems from BB, Sekiro and ER.
"scadu" is the old English spelling for Shadow they are pronounced exactly the same
Fextralife's "has FromSoft peaked" touches on the subject raised at the end of the video also, and they raise issues that, in good faith, I'm not happy to admit, but I have to agree with.
@@AnacreonSchoolbagsJr Yeah, it's like the guy from Arrowhead said, "A game for everyone is a game for no one".
I think Sekiro has far superior combat to Elden Ring.
its hurt to not hear dying light one and 2 not in the games list
I haven't got to play those ones :(
This isn't a DLC, This is Elden Ring 2
@@midnightkate5723 Honestly!
Honestly the skies the limit now. Hitting the limit on open world just means we can go back to the original formula with new twists. I’ll take well crafted limited sandboxes over open world design any day, but going through what felt like legacy dungeon to legacy dungeon until the game is over is just too special.
Witcher 3 is stil the best game and dlcs for me. Elden ring is second for me. I like games with more story and lore in it.
I have over 5,000 hours in this game
"And never to play it again..."
Proceeds to talk for another 20 minutes about playing it again.
Maybe one more game like elden souls. It'll sell and have many detractors. On the ramp to jumping the shark, but hasn't lifted off yet.
U should try a no summon run
@@tootingkaboomsgaming I straight up could not do that. 🤣
@@thefantasticfiend you could even if it means a completely different build for each boss
10/10 DLC
The visuals are plain awesome. Most of the map/island is awesome.
The size and content is ginormous.
However, the DLC does a LOT of stuff wrong. Bland and empty map areas, recycled enemies over and over, overescalating bosses that annoy with endless combos, aoe spamming, roll traps, unlimited stamina and tiny windows, 90% of all loot is trash, etc.
To me it sits in the middle of From DLC's. The Old Hunters and The Ringed City are FAR superior.
@HansDampf1911 Fair enough! I did enjoy the Ringed City. Haven't had the pleasure of playing through Bloodborne unfortunately. :(
Are you both fantastic and fiendish
Maybe nostalgia, but I still prefer Bloodboren dlc still
I've heard nothing but great things about that DLC so maybe not!
Now when i get summoned for Gaius, I’ll do the Oh Mother gesture in front of Marika's statue if I notice the host hasn't unlocked the region, and I got a couple of people to do it.
nice. someone who isn’t crying how hard it is cuz they gitgud
I wholeheartedly disagree with Radahn being the hardest boss in Elden Ring. I beat him on my seventh try. Solo. No summons. The first time I played the base game I probably died to Malenia 60 times.
Good dlc
Boss designs leave a LOT to be desired.
A lot of attacks are unintuitive alongside making no sense
For example one of my favorite bosses, messmer has a lot of good traits. that said his thrust delay does not need to have 360 degrees of tracking on it.
This is one of the many boss design issues and deserves to be addressed and critisized.
The dlc has some amazing lore and content, but the bosses could have been better.
No. these bosses are nit well designed, and are very inconsistent.
Take for example radahns gravity pull, not only does it come out extremely fast it has a follow up which REQUIRES you to run away and jump
Now this by itself isnt bad, HOWEVER gaius has an identical attack, and despite his shit fight you can dodge this initial part and the gravity rocks wont damage you whatsoever
So what gaius gets a punish window but radahn cant?
Very inconsistent designs.
Or how about this, scadutree avatars nuke, one evaded you get a great punish window for multiple hits even with a Greatsword but relanna or messmer will do their super attack and you can maybe get one hit in with a greatsword(dont use a charge attack though)
The dlc was very well made. but these bosses werent, they sacrificed fun for unintuitive difficulty
And its not difficult in the "ahh man i cant do this because im bad" type of difficulty
its "okay why can this guys thrust attack not only lunge forward 30 feet but also track me 360 degrees around"
And there are a multitude of attacks that are not well designed
I have not seen ANYONE genuinely dodge the first part of metyrs beam in her second phase without using some ash of war
Because otherwise it is a dodge frame so tight the average player isnt dodging it. for a game that encourages use of amy and all builds having to actually use a specific AoW to dodge one attack in a fight is NOT very build friendly.
It's not 55 dollars. Don't act like lame canadian dollars are real dollars.
@AkiRa22084 LOL they really aren't.
@jaytico5835 Just didn't have a Playstation 4 my guy. The exclusivity barred me from playing it as when it came out, I didn't have much money or time.
@@thefantasticfiend fair enough, i forgot bloodborne was an exclusive. All though i didnt have a ps3 and had to go hunt one just for demons souls.

*savor* bloodborne, brother
It's massive but empty. When it's not empty, then occupied with main game enemies. This dlc is not a masterpiece. Let's be real. The beat thing about dlc is boss battles. That's it.
Thats fair, its not perfect. But I loved the DLC.
GO PLAY BLOODBORNE
@Rudi4rius I'm looking for to it!
It was ok . Quite disappointing actually.
Play through bloodborne now. Stop what you’re doing. Nothing else matters.
You should play more DLCs, breh.
You should allow people to have an opinion breh
Yeah... nah.
Lora wise the DLC was shit other than that it was amazing😂
bosses were absolutely bad in the dlc beside bayle, messmer and romina
Dancing lion, rellana, golden hippo, scadutree avatar. Whats wrong with them?
@@simon-peterwilliamson2412 And Putrescnt Knight! And Midra!!
And, as mini-bosses, Red Bears and Death Knights, along with the Demi Human Swordsmaster.

Name some better ones
@@Jbswe how about every soulsborne dlc up to this point. Except ds2. Ringed city crom ds3 introduced so much new stuff and two amazing bosses without having to just copy the base game. Even dragons now copy midir's moves and radahn copies how slave knight has those lingering damaging effects he has in phase 2.
@@DMundus ah yes ashes was for sure better at 15 usd on release for 1.5 bosses 2 areas a few enemy’s and a few weapons, ringed city is good too but seriously think about how many “new things” it added.. falling down ash pits cool annoying summoner enemy’s being followed by a dragon? That’s about it, half of the dlc is swamps and some city streets the level design is nothing special. @@anonymousperson8903 bigger doesn't mean better. Every boss fight in ringed city is good compared to the bloated spectacle that is shadow of the erdtree, including the reskin final boss. It's such a disappointment. Messmer and bayle carry the dlc and they are just fractions of the whole dlc.
I modded the dlc to make it better with its leveling system, by almost fully eliminating it
