  • Part 2 of lowering my daughter Sam's Mazda, we do an Old School ball joint flip, trim the bump stops and crank down the torsion bars! Should have re-indexed the torsion bar keys as this past summer Sam earned her Minitrucker badge and pulled a torsion bar on a man hole in a construction zone Lol. All good tho it was in front of her Grampa's house, so we pulled the bar, straightened the anchor and re-indexed the bar to raise the adjuster from hanging down as far.
    Believe it or not, the truck actually rides pretty dam good!

    Wow, as a guy who was way into minis,scc' s, and lowered life in general in the 90'S...in Edmonton... randomly stumbling on to your video and then seeing the Dropsicles hat (and tat lol) was an immediate throwback! thanks for the vid, and the nostalgia. Awesome shop, hope you are still dumping rides and cruisin'

    Thanks for the tutorial....hope your channel grows big......I thinking of how I can lower without cutting anything . You did mention a few parts to do that in the video..... what do you think about drop spindles (that if they make any for the B2000). How does the rear get lowered?......do you have to get bags.

      I like drop spindles way better than lowered control arms- dropped arms hang too low IMO. Good luck in finding any for this gen of Mazda tho, one thing about drop spindles is some end up pushing the wheel outward a bit. I have a vid on lowering the rear, haven't done a vid on bagging it yet.

    How do you like mono leafing the rear? I noticed you didn’t. I have three inch blocks in the rear and needs more low, I’ll probably buy the Drop leafs, nice videos and great stuff, keeping in traditional 👊🤩💯

      Down side of a mono leaf is you get more axle wrap,, but you also get that with a taller block like a 4". I actually bought some Bell tech 3" drop leafs for this, but they are now sitting as I've decided to bag it. They'd be for sale now but they are expensive as would be shipping I would imagine.

    Great tutorial. I just acquired a 84’ B2000 Sundowner. I’m going to attempt a drop can I do the ball joint flip with coil springs? Or would I be better off cutting a coil or 2?

      Depends on how the ball joint mounts into the lower arm. Looks to be sandwiched between the too and bottom skin of the control arm on an 84. You might be able to mount it on the top side of the control arm with longer bolts, but you'd need to build a spacer so the space where the ball joint used to sit doesn't collapse. Make sure the bolts are at least the same grade as the factory bolts and torque em properly to spec. I've never tried on the older B-series, so other than that I don't have any more info for ya. Good Luck, be safe!
      Thanks man.

    i have a 1991 isuzu 2WD. i was thinking about doing this because my original lower ball joints need to be replaced. it’s a torsion bar front suspension and my lower control arm is flat so i wouldn’t have to cut anything. so the amount of static drop will be the with of the lower control arm after the flip? thanks

    Can I just drop the front with 3 inch DJM lower control arms and a 4-inch block in the rear ?

    • @jedlowdually
      @jedlowdually  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely you can run dropped lowers, I'm not a fan of them because of how low they hang. Just my preference, but nothing wrong with doing it that way.

    • @jedlowdually

      You betcha! Like the bottom it still points the same direction, but bolts on top of the control arm instead of from the bottom.

    Hey where you located? What would that front drop cost us?

    • @jedlowdually
      @jedlowdually  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm close to Calgary Alberta Canada, I don't really do any customer work, sorry. But as far as cost, it would be pretty minimal, just time, some cut off and grinding wheels...not sure what a shop would charge to do it.

      No unfortunately it will not work on B3000, that is a Ford Ranger based truck and is completely different.

    • @jedlowdually
      @jedlowdually  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DannyAllen10271966 You'd need to do some digging to see if anyone makes a drop spindle and lowering spring for that year. I would search Bell Tech, DJM companies like that. No idea how much or little stuff is out there for those style Ranger/B-series trucks.
