- In this video i run through some information regarding squid jigs and which ones to choose when buying and why - the lures you see here are the main jigs i only use after years of working through countless different jigs I've narrowed it down to this handful of jigs, colours and sizes that produce the most for me.

Awesome, thanks for the making the video.
No worries guy hopefully it helps you out buddy. Any more information you need hit me up
Have recently decided to add squid fishing to my range and this video was an exceptional help. Thank you.
OMG I did not expect the lady netting the squid. Thank you for the awesome video.
No worries glad you enjoyed it
I've personally found that bright colors like pink and light green work best. I use Yo-Zuri's 3-inch jigs. Our main squid season is in early May through late June here in the northeast US.
Your main squid season is summer. Ours is winter and spring when they move in to breed
Yep always done well on green . Love that colour . But one is yellow ive never tried cheers Wally
I'm new to jigging but have had lots of luck with white. Try get your hands on the shimano 2.5 flashboost in keimura white. Being new, it's either that or lots of luck for me.
Great video post, thanks for the tips.
what about water conditions dark day and dark water is that where you would change it up and go with a more versitle jig
Yeah Dark day and dark water I would stick with a darker jig. Silhouette are important in the darkness
@@RedemptionTackle so the squid in your past have gone for the dark jigs even when there difficult to see not the bright ones where there easier to see on dark days and water
Correct. I find more success with a darker jig on the darker over cast days then I do with a brighter jig. Ideally the best dark jigs have a red foil belly
@@RedemptionTackle ok sweet thanks for the help
Great video mate I found the harimitsu albino glow is a winner for me at night but got a heap of new jigs to try including the lemon!!!
The albino glow slays
@@RedemptionTackle well last night I got 4 all on the lemon sp it's all they were taking!!! I'm impressed
@@Swwa89 I just got 4 then 3 on a white and pink jig 1 on the lemon
Good video explaining a few different techniques and ideas to think about. Honestly i have used nothing but cheap jigs and not had a issue catching squid. I found a black uv egi in a bargin bin and it was pretty damn good. It was 32° bright and sunny, water was pretty clean could see the bottom in 5m deep.
I've cleaned up on cheap jigs to. But when the fishing is tough the expensive ones do out fish
This is a great guide for jigs !! Thanks for the upload . 🦑🦑🦑
Hello bro i love fishing squid i am from philippines for now i just collecting egi jigs here in japan and soon i go back home first to do is fishing .
Squid fishing is awesome fun. You'll be able to collect some awesome jigs in Japan
Yes bro good jigs like a yamashita yozuri duel shimano daiwa many choices i love all squid fishing
Interesting, I have done well on orange/pink and chartreuse here in north west WA and I saware by the daiwa emeraldis jigs. I guess different waters and probably a different species of squid as apparently there are a difference in the northern and southern squid though they’re are not arrowheads.
Yeah up north they are the coral squid or Tiger squid and the arrow squid which are much more aggressive feeders compared to the southern green eyed squid we get
hey mate great video, i'm a bit confused because i thought it was a general consensus (squid jigg guides by squid jigg manufactures such as daiwa and shimano and most other things i've read/watched) that dark/natural/neutral colours are for clear water clear weather, and bright colours were for murky water and dark days? Can't argue with whats working but I am curious haha
Hey Robert. It's the opposite mate. Dark jigs for Dark days and bright jigs for bright days
@@RedemptionTackle is this from your personal experience? Not trying to be a smart ass just really curious as like i said, ive been doing my research and your the first bloke i've seen suggest bright colours with clear water on bright days. I will definitely need to get my hands on the lemon jigg though never tried that one before!
@@robertyeoh8948 yeah personal experience and everyone I've spoken to always recommend the bright on clear. The lemon jigs are epic. Haramitsu make them
found this interesting, but i would like your thoughts on using squid jigs on a drop shot rig
I've done that in deep water works well. Spread them out about 60cm
Have you tried the duel dartmaster jigs? Have heard some good things about them Recently
No I haven't had a chance to use them
Have u ever tried out them Japanese hayabusa squid jigs, I’ve heard very good stuff about em. Also great video mate!
Hyabusa jigs ?
I've use the haramitsu jigs.
You got a link to the hyabusa jigs ?

Good job . Gona get me a yellow one bro . Never ever tried that colour cheers Wally . Ps let you know how i go cheers .
Sweet as wally
On the West Coast of the U.S. we fish for squid at night. do you have recomendations for color? How about flashing electronic?
Hi Rob. At night I like to use a dark coloured jig. I've never tried one with a flashing electronic
Awesome vid mate cheers
Hey great advice! May i ask the red belly jig’s brand/color/size? (minute 3:13) Been looking for it but can’t find. Thank u mate..
That is a yakamito jig I believe
Available at compleat angler stores
2.5 size
Cool! Thx mate and best of luck :)
Great advise..
Hey mate great video! Just wondering what jig that yellow one covered in squid ink is? And what size? The good jigs are hard to find in WA 😒
That's a harimitsu lemon
Good video mate, cheers!
Great video mate !
Cheers jayyy
Valuable info bro
Question is what to do when squid strike and leave the lure
If they strike and drop the lure before you get a chance to set the hook. Pause the lure. And then let it drop. Squid will hit a jig 90% of the time while it's sinking or stationary
love the video mate well done, your choice the yellow jig what brand are they, i don't own a yellow.
Cheers.
Harimitsu
thanks for the video, very helpful
No worries. Glad you enjoyed it
Nice video will have to try out the red belly jigs for night
Yeah they work a treat in low light situations
Fishing is life
Barometer pressure. Can you elaborate a bit more on this? Just started squid fishing in NZ!!
Yeah barometer pressure will aid in fish and squids feeding mood. High pressure and consistent pressure is good. Low pressure and very rapid pressure changes will shut them down
@@RedemptionTackle awesome cheers!
Hello which is more effective during the night or during the day.
( Shore Squid jigging). Like at jetty
I always catch squid during the night but never at morning
During the day I like the brighter coloured jigs. The yellows are my go to.
During the night I choose a dark jig to help with contrasting colours
@@RedemptionTackle do you still catch squid at 11am - 2 pm time? Where the sun is at its peak? Thanks
I do when I'm on the boat but it is alot more difficult some days
Hey bro, that was very good and well presented info, appreciate your effort in posting this, thanks😎👍
No worries mate. Glad you enjoyed it
Ive been fishing alot with yamashita live search.. but the colors are pretty much The same. Could you tell me other good branda? Cheers
Haramitsu is a brand I use alot . They are not the cheapest though unfortunately
hey mate, great vid. Just stumbled across your channel. I recently bought the orange and white emeralda jig. I was wondering in the video wether you were suggesting that it was bad or you haven't used it much. Haven't managed to use the jig yet. Thanks
Hey bud. Yeah I'm not a huge fan of the nude emeraldas jigs
@@RedemptionTackle do they not catch squid in general, or is it just a thing for you. I am looking to add some new jigs to my collection and I do have a voucher for bcf and I am wondering wether I should buy a yellow squid jig and a black one with red foil from a 5 dollar bin if I can find them. Do the $5 jigs of the same colour still work as well. Thanks Jim.
Hey bud I didn't do well with the emeraldas jigs unfortunately. Some people like them but I have yet to give them a proper crack always rely on the lemon and whites
@@RedemptionTackle thanks mate, Ill give it a try maybe tomorrow and get back to you, to see how it does
@@vascor9344 please do
Can you catch seabass with them ?
With squid jigs? Probably not
different hook lol
Great explanation mate 👍🏻
Cheers mate
Thank you for the info.
Any time!
G 'day mate, just found your channel and scribed! Thanks for the informative clip! Cheers!
No worries. Glad you enjoyed the information. Hopefully you enjoy the rest of the content 😊
If the cloth of the squid jig is white but the foil is glow, do I still apply the rule that I use that for night time or when the water is clear and the day is bright?
Correct. White jigs are versatile for alot of conditions. Especially with red foil. They can be used at anytime of the day and night and should see great success
@@RedemptionTackle Awesome. If i wanted to get a darker jig for cloudy days/murky water, should i get a all black jig with red foil or have only the top black with a white underbelly with red foil? Cos you have 2 similar ones in the video, i was wondering which one is better?
Both of those jigs work really well. Some nights one works better than the other. If you can try and get both
*_Very nice vid my friend! Really enjoyed, thanks for sharing! Keep up the great work! :D_*
Thank you! Cheers!
Great info 👍
Glad it was helpful!
Love your video
Cheers mate glad you enjoyed it
What about night jigs, is there a specific color or size we should use??
Night Time?
I prefer dark jigs.
2.5-3.0 size is the best
Thank you man,i needed this video 😊😊👍👍
