hey mate, how deep normally you set your stopper for the float? 1metre? assuming we are fishing from rock platform or beach

Doesn’t the float come in with the current ? Or you shouldn’t go squidding when there’s lots of waves ?
Hi Nev, I am a little confused about the sinker weight and float size. In your case, do you want the jig sinking to the bottom, or stop in the halfway because of the float?
You want the float to suspend the jig CLOSE to the bottom. The sinker just makes sure the jig is not wafting in the current

It depends on the tide, sometimes 1.5 foot, up to 6 foot

Hey Nev good sesh! Do you guys reckon it’s alright to use mono line as the main line then use a float with a stopper directly? Or much better to use braid as main line. Cheers
Either will work just fine mate, I know plenty of gun squid fishos who just use mono.

Like your work fish boy, but PLEASE give people some idea of the locations you are fishing.
You don't have to be specific, like the last bay at Red Point next to the quarry where our old cabins used to be with the fresh water spring, (wink wink), but just a general idea of the location, especially for people overseas.

Do you use braided or mono? If you use braided, how do you get it from birds nesting all the time? I have 20lb on my spool, and just about every other cast I can guarantee a birds nest. It’s quite the nuisance.
I use braid, maybe your spooling it incorrectly or over spooling?
I noticed you didn't loop the line around the float like you usually do, is that so the float goes all the way up to the end of the leader?
Exactly right, the float runs to the leader knot or stopper👍

Yeah usually I do but on this day I was using ducktape just wrapped around the line a couple times 😂

How do you know that the squid is on the line?
The float will be pulled under and you wont be able to see it
How high was your float set at?
Usually between 1ft to 5ft
