I have this Bible and man it definitely is one of the nicer non-premium Bibles on the market! The paper is thick with little to no ghosting. It was my EDC last year and traveled with it as well. I was fortunate enough to buy the Heirloom Wide Margin in the summer and gifted that to my wife.
Crossway’s top grain Cowhide bibles are a beautiful non-heirloom option. They are also significantly less expensive than their heirloom line. I can’t tell for sure, but it seems the liners in these are synthetic, but they are nice, soft, and floppy. They come with edgeline construction so they are built to last. I preached with the top grain ESV VbV Reference bible for a few years and it barely showed any signs of wear. I even gave a couple to some friends who preach weekly and they love them. I’ve always wanted to see the wide margin reference because it was once available in heirloom and so many seemed to love it. The layout is really nice and the wrap around margins leave plenty of space for notes on the inner and outer margins, and even at the top of the page. The red letters are fantastic! (Another reason I wanted to see this one.) They are nice and dark. The paper is great! But if you know me you know I love Crossway’s Chinese paper. Anyhow it is not on an heirloom level (no art gilding, it doesn’t have perimeter stitching and the corners and fold over work are a little sloppy, but for the price you get a nice bible with some nice extras. I’m excited this Bible is getting some TH-cam time I’ve been a top grain wide margin evangelist for a while now. Because there are sizable inner AND outer margins it makes for an amazing preaching Bible. I have found myself preaching from this more than my v by v. I think this Bible is the best bang for your buck on the market period especially since you can get it in trutone if you want for around $40 I believe. Publishers should take a note on crossways wide margin layout.
Wish they still made this one in goat. Regarding the comparisons, the CSB single column and the NKJV in the premium editions are really nice. Thanks for the review Tim.
Tim, what is the best Catholic option for the ESV? I have the Augustine Institute ESV-CE but the pages are a bit thin... I think I could live with an ESV w/ Apocrypha if there was no bleed-through. Any thoughts?
Now that you've had a look at the new NKJV and KJV wide-margin sovereign, how would you compare them to this? Is it worth waiting instead of getting this? What edition would say is the best value? The translation isn't my main goal. I have both of them, but I'm trying to go for one good wide-margin without having to pay cambridge or schuyler prices.
Crossway makes a great product and this reviewer brings out their extraordinary work beautifully. great video. GOD Bless

Yep. The trutone is super affordable.
The genuine leather version with paste down liner is my favorite since it’s black letter. The paper in that one is amazing and half the price
I recently got a church Bible publishers wide margin in the water Buffalo and loving it.

Thanks Tim! Yes! Very under rated... but packs some big features!
I’m getting the Cambridge niv wide margin bible hard back
I agree this is a great bible

Probably the Diadem from Cambridge. The hardback is pretty affordable. Here’s a quick look.

Hard to beat the ESV but those Sovereigns are fantastic!
Tim, I'm 2-years late with this question. Is this the ESV 2016 edition?
Yes.
SIngle column is the way to go because its awkward writing in the gutter and there is not alot of room to write in the margin to the right
Eek.
