- This week, Marques launched his own sneaker in collaboration with Atoms! It's called the M251 and Marques gets into how it all came to be towards the end of the podcast. In India, Whatsapp is just too ubiquitous, almost to the point of no turning back..Im presuming here, but i believe that one of the first apps people download when buying a new phone is ubiquitously whatsapp..It would take a massive gargantuan leap or shift (even this is understating how massive the shift it will take) to dethrone whatsapp as the default messenger app..
Also it's vital to any part of the job in India, so I was forced to be installed into my phone
Also how ingrained it has become to small businesses in India, easy to onboard and setup your business and contact your customers + Payments integration.

and i am one of the few indians who has made his life's goal to not use whatsapp and ( actually I only use Signal ) and have encouraged my friends and family to do so
See, my problem with WhatsApp is that for most people here in Germany it's the default messenger app. So if I would want to switch to basically anything else, I'd not be able to be part of important groups for university, just as an example. And I've tried convincing people to switch, but at the end I just gave up. And it wouldn't make any sense to just use it for like four groups and switch to a different app for everything else, that just doesn't work. I already use iMessage, Threema, WhatsApp and Signal (not as of lately), it's a mess. I ditched Signal cause the synchronization and push notifications are just straight garbage.
Same here in Brazil. And I have family in Peru, where it's just as ubiquitous
@@diegoeffio What do you think about the features compared to other apps? Have you tried Telegram? I haven't and I'm asking out of curiosity, because right now I don't miss anything in WhatsApp. That's the only good thing for me. I hate that Meta owns it but the functionality is good and beside the sometimes wonky desktop app, it's really reliable on my phone. So I don't hate the app itself, some people do but I don't know why. If anybody else wants to say something on this topic, go ahead, I'm interested in other opinions!
Same here in Pakistan and for most of South East Asia for that matter.
Same in The Netherlands, you *need* WhatsApp for many jobs, because employers communicate stuff via WhatsApp groups, as well as any kind of sports/organised hobby. I can convince my friends to use an alternative but I can't make my whole archery club switch.
@Bumblewyn Yah, I totally forgot sports, recently started playing Ultimate Frisbee and there you go, another WhatsApp Group. And even at work, where people should use webex instead…

20:25 😂 It happened to me too. I downloaded Edge with the sole intention to use it for the Bing AI Chat...but then I slowly started realizing it was better than Chrome. Edge uses less RAM than chrome on my Macbook Pro and it also feels snappier. Not to mention the Bing AI Sidebar is game-changing. If I ever have a question about something or I need a summary of the webpage I'm currently on, it does it instantly. I changed my default search engine to Google so searching for things still feels the same but, tbh I find myself using Google less and less. The only time I use Google now is for finding the right reddit post that has the answer to whatever question I have.
I've actually been using edge for the past 2 years on my laptop because it's better for battery, and it's honestly not that bad. Although, I do feel like search results arent as good as Google's are from time to time, but most of the time it's serviceable
Yeh i use edge if i know i am going to a specific site or summarising something but for search i have to go to Google. The search results are better.
@@ishansharma2463 Yep that's why I also changed my default search engine in Edge to Google. Google is still much better at that, but I don't need Chrome to search in google. Edge is just a snappier browser at the moment for me
@@gucci_flip_flops I agree but just don't forget, Edge is a browser and Bing is a search engine. You can set Google as your default search engine on Edge. That's what I did to get the best of both worlds

as a brazilian it's always crazy to think that someone does not use WhatsApp. Here in Brazil nobody uses SMS. The Messages app that comes installed are only used to get 2FA codes
It's pretty much the opposite in the US. Everyone just uses the built in messages app especially iPhone users. With Apple having about 50% of the phone market here iMessage is huge and then after that everyone uses SMS. Some occasionally use other services but because Facebook has a horrible reputation here no-one trusts it

@@imarchit they do but only because it became popular well before FB bought it. The one thing I hear people complain about regarding Instagram are it’s connections to Facebook. I’ve thought about deleting it because of that many times but since I had so much on it before then I keep it open
Same in India nobody talks on messages app they all use atleast whatsapp and obviously 2 3 other social media apps but whatsapp is a must

24:26 As a Brazilian, I hate it that most of us rely on whatsapp for texting, when there's telegram, for instance. Many people have telegram, myself included, but it can't even compare to the huge amount of people who use whatsapp - it's just the norm. My telegram sits there collecting dust, normally.
Telegram chats aren't encrypted. Telegram can read them, spy on you and sell the data.

For Plantar Fasciitis, a few things that I’ve learned from college cross country/track, and from working as a primary care provider for several years, freeze a water bottle and 2 or 3 times a day, take it out of the freezer and lay it on the ground. Put your affected foot on it and roll your foot across it for a few minutes while you push your body weight into it.

I listened pretty regularly when this podcast first came out. I had to stop after a few months because they were so uninformed on too many of their discussions. Things have improved and their topics are usually interesting, but they’ve haven’t yet won me back completely.

Google Authenticator sync feature is not end to end encrypted. So it’s not recommended to be used by security experts yet.

20:00 there's a chrome extension that allows you to use bing chat. I used edge for like 3 days and was like I can't live like this anymore.

I lost some accounts becuase of google authenticator back in 2018 from then on I have switched to Microsoft Authenticator and its way too easy and feature rich. Also it makes it easy to sync passwords between edge (mainly windows) and your phone.
Edge is a damn good browser... I'm glad I switched. Also, Microsoft authenticator has sync since day one.

It's crazy it took this long to add Google Authenticator syncing, but it's not even encrypted. That's right, your auth secrets are stored in your google account without any extra protection.

Why would you use Google messages or iMessage as default app for texting as it also gets the transactional and promotional messages too, which are not present on whatsapp or telegram.
Have a Mercedes Benz 2022 at my work to deliver stuff, and it has wireless car play, it such a mess and frustrating🤬 always freeze, turn off and even with the wire it’s still have some issues. I just need maps 🤬 to do my work

There were many messaging apps that were more advanced than whatsapp . Maybe it less confusing interface is what makes more people use it + the status feature

Sound quality after being uploaded will be different vs the original audio. most are listening to is also on iffy phones.

Telegram is not encrypted by default, and encrypted chats can't be used on other devices or backed up, and notifications don't have a preview.
Moreover, you don't lose everything in WhatsApp when you log in to another device. The data is still on the other phone. You can log back in to it and upload a backup to the cloud or, even without logging in, take a backup from the backup folder.
Additionally, you should have back up codes in case you lose your phone (and access to google auth).
Authy sends tons of analytic data whereas analysts didn't detect traffic from the google auth app
