I was going to complain that Andrew was making strong well reasoned statements, but then the brotherhood returned. Also we need Waveform "Brotherhood of Chaos" merch. Such an excellent name for it.
Just saying, paying for TH-cam Premium is still the single best purchase I’ve made on any social media. The fact that I get to enjoy a lot of Podcast and Shows on internet without any ads is just making the purchase more and more justifiable 😂

I was sooo totally confused about Windows 8 for years even trying to watch youtube tutorials about some functions that were so straightforward with even the XP lol.
The settings user interface (networking, installed programs, etc.) has been trash and getting worse ever since WIndows 8.

49:40 I'd like to take this moment to flex my ad free Instagram account. I've never once seen an ad on Instagram in over 9 years because apparently my account was randomly selected to be a "control account" when I created it in middle school.
I didn't even know Instagram ads were thing until everyone started complaining about how bad they were a few years ago. Maybe I could sell my account because I don't even use insta that often lol (so I'm probably also giving them bad user analytics concerning how ads vs no ads affect the app's use, sorry yall)

David should do a full video on ARC browser for his personal channel. I am 100% going to look into ARC browser, that looks/sounds like something i'd greatly like and appreciate. I also am the type to always have a zillion tabs open. So i think i'd benefit from it like David has.

This is the first time I've legitimately ever heard someone say Windows 8.1 is better than Windows 7.
I think Windows 11 is the first version since 7 that has been an objective improvement from the previous versions.
True, 8.1 was better than 8, but it was a weaker version of 10, which was arguably on par with 7, if we ignore its early days of BSOD and its peculiar sleep mode etc.

Windows 8.1 was much better than Windows 7. People don't know because W8 was genuinely crap.
8.1 was the first Windows that never crashed on me just worked.
Windows 8 was the whole reason I switched to MacOS. I remember using it for 2 days, then going out and buying a Mac bc i was so frustrated. Every single developer in charge for the windows 8 project should have been fired instantly
The truth is that windows 8.1 was actually better then 7 and only people in know as Marques mentioned are aware since basically almost nobody even used 8 or 8.1 for any extended period of time. For anyone who follows LTT, you might know that Linus still uses Windows 8.1 for his home setup

I can't say enough how much I enjoy watching this group just chat about new tech. You really do a good job of flowing through conversation. It just feels like a nice roundtable experience with people who share the same interests. Cheers to all your success. Since you guys enjoy AI so much you should peek into enterprise grade camera analytics and face recognition devices being tied to purchases, access, etc. Lots of interesting possibilities and groundbreaking technology in the industry

even though trees don't grow legs naturally, you can see tons of trees with 4 legs in the form of tables and chairs. since we have grown trees to be better for lumber, techincally trees have evolved to be suited for legs

Hasn't google been storing your voice for awhile now? I feel I remember there being a toggle on letting google use it when setting up the assistant. If that's the case they probably already have enough of your voice to build a model

Hey waveform. I really love the biology questions. It amazes me how little you all know about the subjects and it’s fascinating for me to be grounded on what is common knowledge. I am a biologist with intentions of teaching so it’s really fun and interesting to hear your takes.
1:19:27 in school, we learned to use an App called Phyphox and i also use it outside school many times. It basically is a visualisation tool for all the sensors, a smartphone or tablet has. For example you can read out the gyrodata and let it write a graph with very good accuracy. (I think it is capable enough to measure earthquakes, if the phone sits at an even surface)
Anyway, it also utilises the microphones of the device and there's one category where you can get the audio spectrum of any noise that gets picked up by your mic. Essentially you could whistle or hum in the mic and it tells you the note and the impefection of what tone you just made.

Their discussion of the pronunciation was pretty good. When they mentioned that the creator came up with the soft-G 'Jif' pronunciation didn't mention *why* the creator did that. The creator chose the soft-G because "Choose-y Developers Choose Gif", a play on the slogan for JIF peanut butter. To me, because the creator opted for that dumb slogan, I've preferred gif with a hard G.

Edit: I made it to the end and if Andrew had only said vultures and not birds, he would have been correct because two different species ended up becoming bald scavengers in deserts.

My theory, they know its awkward but would require either buying new hardware, and/or reorganizing the entire audio setup. Therefore not worth it..

Also, Marques, in ancient times "Bard" was someone like a travelling musician or a travelling tale teller, who sung the poems or narrated the tales in an oral tradition. So, Google's "Bard" makes sense here, because it's a mobile companion for everything verbal.
Social media platforms are setting a dangerous precedent by asking their users to pay for their own security and authentication. I'm ready to move to newer, user-friendly platforms.
Worse is the addition of a government ID imo. Tying it to a social media account is getting dangerously close to China's WeChat.
SMS MFA isn't security though.

Yeah, I lived just fine when social media wasn't a thing, so I'm not going to start paying just to follow people on some virtual internet space. I only use WhatsApp anyway so if it starts charging people too then it's back to regular phone calls and text messages.

I agree Marques. Windows 8.1 to this day was the fastest and least bloated version of windows I have ever used. I really liked it for the speed and stability. I only upgraded to 10 because of certain comforts and aesthetics that windows 10 added. I would be willing to use it today if not for update support and dx12 for gaming.
Arc browser is sick. I’ve been using it for a bit now and I love the navigation. Feels like a mini os for the internet with focus modes and universal search/commands
