Roxas is such a tragic character, I really feel for him. He’s got Sora’s drive and determination and all he wants is to be his own person, but it’s impossible for him because the people around him consider him less than human.
Roxas needs to be the true protagonist of the series. Hell, he IS the protagonist; forget the canon.
I mean.. that’s because he was until he got a spare body.

Although, I feel like Riku could’ve won if he really wanted to. He wasn’t there to kill Roxas. Just capture. During the fight, Riku DID knock Roxas out for almost a minute. Then he stuck the Oblivion keyblade in the ground next to Roxas’ head.
If Riku wanted Roxas dead, he could’ve just struck him with the Oblivion instead of sticking it in the ground.

a lot of people forget the context in the games that riku was only at 50% of his strength due to him wearing the blindfold held back his power an further more he was restricting even 50% of his power so realistically he was only fighting roxas at 25% power roxas was using 100% of his power an was at his peak at this point an still riku beat him. roxas is inferior to riku people need to get that in their head that after riku got his base back he fought xemnas while sora was incapacitated and sora beat base xemnas which is something roxas has never been able to do an riku>base kh2 sora. an sora beat roxas while holding back. so yeah no roxas is weaker than sora an riku.
@Sowwa it's funny but realistically if you pay attention riku not holding back was 2x stronger than base full power kh2 sora an kh2 sora was 2x stronger than roxas. riku was able to fight final xemnas roxas couldn't beat regular base xemnas kh2 base sora beat base xemnas an fought final xemnas. people need to realize that roxas is below both sora an riku he always has been.
@@sagestein6252 my point is a weakened stamina drained riku who hasn't rested for a year whom was holding back most of his power could've destroyed roxas at anytime but he wasn't gonna do that roxas is sora's avatar/nobody he's not gonna kill his best friend. Not the kind of person he is. If he was bloodlusted he could have easily killed roxas or sora. But he's not this heartless asshole like people assume.

I always found it kind of poetic how both of these characters undergo so much pain and suffering, both willing to sacrifice everything just to bring back Sora or Xion.
I get why everyone talks about how roxas’ story is sad, but no one seems to mention riku that much. Seriously my heart breaks for riku every time I watch this, he did and sacrificed so much for Sora and was even ready to lose himself to darkness or death to save him. To him sora was his most important person even if he wasn’t soras and now im crying again.

@@Densester I'd take /days gameplay over 3 or any of the command deck games any day of the week. Sometimes less is more, and KH combat is a good example of that. I'm sick of how floaty modern KH games feel during battles.
If Days was designed for a more powerful console but kept the foundations, it's combat would've been only second to KH2.

Gold in my opinion, I think Terra has gone through the most, he just wanted to protect his friends and prove to his master he could control his darkness, only to be deceived and have his own body taken away from him, then split into two different beings and used for evil and mass destruction, all while his own conscience and anger is at the keyblade graveyard alone.
...Now I miss Terra...

Gold no sir aqua has the saddest of them all. Roxas is a typical character with someone else emotions but he would of been a great person if he had those same emotions but they belong to sora which makes sora story the second saddest.
Back when the storytelling and music of Kingdom Hearts was very touching and emotional. Back when you could actually understand and feel the pain of every character in the series. Especially Roxas since he was treated through the worst by not just the organization, but Diz as well. All he wanted was to have his own normal life with Axel and Xion but Xemnas only cared for the keyblade and Diz only cared for Sora’s reawakening

Let’s see: He was alone for most of his life, chosen by the foretellers to be a dandelion, one of his teammates dies before they even meet, probably more of them die during the war, he probably gained survivor’s guilt, his memories of the time before the war ie. his life, his friends, even the war, and everything he had in his old life was gone, he had his darkness ripped from his heart by Xehanort which nearly killed him but thanks to Sora he’s still alive, he was almost marooned to die on Destiny Islands by Xehanort because he wouldn’t and couldn’t do what he wanted, he watched his big brother figure turn to the darkness and made a promise to save him but couldn’t go through with it until 10 years later, He almost got killed by his father figure and probably watched him die, he had to fight Vanitas and was willing to sacrifice himself just to save everybody else and I mean WORLDS but lost his heart in the process, missed out on 10 YEARS of his life by being in a deep sleep, not knowing his sister figure was stuck in the darkness and gone and so was his brother figure, he woke up only to fight Vanitas all over again, almost died 2 more times, watched his master come back to him only to fade away for good this time, and then either freaking bury him or just give his keyblade back by making it his tombstone instead. Yeah so I say Ven had it the worst and who KNOWS what his past was beyond before his time as a dandelion.

Anybody else notice the difference in what Riku does as he says it's getting harder to remember Xion? In the game proper, he briefly looked at Oblivion before swinging it down and pointing it towards the ground again. In the HD cutscene, he just raises his hand, opens and closes it, and hangs it at his side again.

i have always felt like roxas would be the strongest keyblade wielder, he has the natural talent, skill en determination of sora but is more brutal and aggressive, plus he was the first to be able to actually dual wield. like imagine roxas with final form that would be pretty OP i think
I think he's the stronger of the two. His abilities as a fighter seem to be more refined and direct.

Seems the reason why Riku didn’t use Soul Eater is because the World that Never Was is Close to the Realm of Darkness
The closer to darkness the more powerful and uncontrollable Heartless are
Riki fused with Ansem is at risk as Ansem would threatened to possess him again
So he tried to use less darkness as possible in his fight, and wears a blindfold to try focus on his heart and senses so Ansem wouldn’t fool and possess him
He takes Oblivion being worthy as a Keyblade Wielder to hold it and use it to fight Roxas
Riku at final fight was left with no choice but to embrace darkness fully and allow Ansem’s power to come out
He can control it but is stuck appearing as him which was much to his shame

Dear God, it becomes more and more apparent that this story was made on the fly with every game.
Corinus Richen totally not trying to be devils advocate. But Riku isn’t sure 100% if Roxas is Sora’s nobody. I think he’s pretty sure, but he’s trying to get solid proof. Hence the question.
Uh what? Clearly that plot point went over your head. Seeing as how the first time Riku encounters a Nobody with a 'Keyblade' he can tell its fake. Also it's known the story was planned out well in advance, not on the fly like your comment implies. Seeing how this was based on a secret movie in KH1 even. Silly thing to say.
in my own opinion, xion's battle was way more epic It took me five tries to finish her while riku's only took me once and I'm playing it on proud mode btw

I love how people misunderstand the context of this fight if you play chain of memories and 358/2 days you'd know that 1. Riku hadn't rested or stopped training, doing research on the heartless, nobodies or helping Sora during the time of those 2 games. Over a year of no rest. Roxas rested constantly an still lost. Riku held back against Roxas was very low on stamina an wasn't at full power an still beat roxas. Sora at full power beat base xemnas which Roxas couldn't do, Sora fought with final xemnas but when Sora got incapacitated in the final xemnas fight Riku fucked final xemnas up. Riku>Sora>Roxas. At the time of KH2 an 358/2 days Riku is stronger he just holds back cause he doesn't want to kill Roxas or Sora. He even tells Xion that. Riku is incredibly impressive. I have mad respect for his drive, conviction and his loyalty to his best friend.

Riku says he lost because he was forced to accept the darkness. He was actually hoping not to need to use it. So yeah, he lost.
