I never see this getting brought up, but Nomura stated in an interview that the reason YX can move after getting hit with Stopza is that Master Xehanort actually possessed him for the duration of the boss fight. That's why Mickey says "Wait! Are you...?" before the fight starts.
That...that would make sense.
That's such a weird explanation because you wouldn't really know that from just watching this scene alone.

Physically yes but as literally said by the creator himself when Mickey froze MX's body while it was being re-completed this caused a funny little side effect. Master Xehanort's...you could call it consciousness arrived to find its body wasn't actually completed yet so it sought a temporary refuge in another body, the body of his young self. Allowing with MX's mind came master xehanort's powers. This is why YX was able to break free of the stopza, the dark aura that radiated off YX was MX's essence, his eyes suddenly flashing yellow, and why he was able to use Master Xehanort's keyblade despite being from a time in which he had yet to receive it.
Nomura tried to convey it with all those weird signs + having Mickey go "Oh no are you? *cuts away*" then picks back up with "Master Xehanort I knew it was you!".
Fun if not irrelevant trivia.
Hair spitting time! That's not Master Xehanort's keyblade, though there are revealing similarities (the two Gazing Eyes, for instance). He uses a different keychain, and its design is indicative of his ability to manipulate time. The game wanted you to put 2 and 2 together and realize that the fact that YX can wield one at all is due to MX's possession - whereas if YX *had* in fact used No Name, it would have been a little too obvious. :)

As time was frozen while Xehanort was entering that location, it meant his consciousness found refuge inside his younger body. Heck, Young Xehanort can't even actually use a keyblade yet, he said himself in Coded.

This cutscene is amazing. It ties the whole series together. The gathering the princesses in KH1 was just a single phase of Xeanort's overall plan. After Sora saves the princesses and takes out a bunch of organization members (vessels) in CoM, the plan then shifts towards exploiting Sora's ability to release captive hearts to create an artificial Kingdom Hearts (KH2). Of course, that fails as well and the rest of the organization is wiped out by the end.
In this scene MX admits how his methods of creating Kingdom Hearts in both BBS and KH2 were incorrect, and that he intends to finally get it done properly for KH3.
Gon BBS was incorrectly creating the X-Blade, not Kingdom Hearts. KH3 is when he tries to get both right at the same time.

@@fightingmedialounge519 It along with the prequel-game set the stage for 3, which I'm ambivalent about. IMO KH2 ended the series perfectly, with Chain of Memories and 300-something Days adding depth to Organization 13 without going completely nutzo.

Well, in a sense, Young Xehanort IS Master Xehanort, since they are _the_ original Xehanort. YX grows older to become MX, after all. That being said, YX is before Xehanort even left the Destiny Islands and starts to walk the path of the darkness. So in that sense, they're also different.

@@alimichalkan8046 Personally, I ended up _loving_ Rutger Hauer's take in base KH3; sure, it's different, and in several scenes and in battle lines, he didn't quite click to me, but where he shined most, he really was good. In particular, in his last scene, I felt that it would likely have stumbled had it been voiced in Nimoy's ham-tastic take; Hauer sold that scene better, IMO. But of course, as I said, he's not perfect, and Christopher Lloyd succeeded him splendidly. May both Hauer and Nimoy rest in peace.

Yaaaas !!! Ben Diskin. What an awesome dude! He is brilliant, so talented and I love his voiceovers. He has literally done sooo much if you check wiki. I really like him.
Ben is also doing the voice to the Young Young Xehanort that plays chess with Young Eraqus. Very impressive. Love it. Also Ben said he was asked to pitch his voice higher and higher without any explanation to why. He was just told to speak with a high pitch voice, that resulted him to get a bit annoyed after finding out it was an even younger Xehanort. He said something like “ ahh you could’ve just told me that, instead of me now sounding like an complete idiot after doing the other”.
Still I think it’s very cool to hear him do all of this even if he never actually applied to voice any character in KH.
He sound so dark here and just so bored of all. Love the YX. Wish to see more of him but maybe more of the older as well.

Nobody Important “Feckless” means ineffective, incompetent, or futile, so basically he called Terra inept for not only being unable to control his darkness but also for not letting it grow stronger without prodding.
The rules of time travel in Kingdom Hearts are basically this: You have to travel as a heart by giving up your physical body, there has to be a version of you waiting at your destination, you can ONLY move forward in time, and u can't change events that are destined to occur!!! I.E. Ansem and Xemnas were meant to be destroyed by Sora and so Young Xehanort couldn't prevent their defeats!!!
Sounds simple. Actually that sounds fair to. Messing with time is the ultimate crime. Giving up your physical form does seem to be a fair trade to do it.
The KH3 ReMind DLC basically shows us the exact workings of this particular time travel through Sora's journey to retrieve Kairi.

As per the Master of Master and the Sentient Darkness that talked with Malifecent, you don't necessarily need a version of yourself to exist, you merely need something with a close connection to you (a talisman, something you hold dear or that others strongly associate with you) and someone that remembers you to exist at the point in time you wish to travel to.
And this same princaple applies to travelling to the past it seems.

I remember playing this on proud and dying so many times. To me Young xehanort was the hardest story boss with Roxas being second. And that “BEGONE THOT” at 3:32 always gave me goosebumps with his eyes shining. That fight was so awesome.

That moment when the secret boss version of a character is far tougher than the actual boss fight......I never beat The Mysterious Figure/Young Xehanort in Birth By Sleep, yet I beat Young Xehanort in Dream Drop Distance on my first try with ease!

Something I just noticed at 11:32. Mickey looks to his right as he starts to look at the members, before turning back toward Master Xehanort. But the next shot shows him looking to the left of Master Xehanort, since you can see YX, Xigbar, and Xemnas. Since he was already facing Master Xehanort, he would have had to turn around completely to face YX, who’s seated in throne number 12, but it only shows him turning halfway.

If you think about it... Young Xehanort has the power of The World Time Stop, Killer Queen’s Bites the Dust (restarting the fight if you fuck up), and King Crimson’s Time Skip.
Apologies for bringing this sore point up again, but couldn’t Lea single handily rescue Aqua? Is there no reason he couldn’t just corridor of Darkness into the realm of Darkness. He clearly has Axel’s memories, and powers considering the chakram.

He is powerful fighter indeed, but everybody knows that wielding a Keyblade is no cakewalk nowadays (in-universe, at least). Mickey and Riku are true Keyblade Masters, as are Aqua, which makes them more suitable for the role, especially now that they have found another way to enter the RoD that's much safer.

As soon as I heard his battle theme all those years ago I immediately had mysterious figure flashbacks, then during the fight my speculation was confirmed by nomura
I don't understand one thing. Master Xehanort wants a clash between the 13 "darknesses" and the 7 "guardians of lights" in order to forge the χ-blade but by taking Sora as a thirteenth vessel isn't he delaying/preventing this process? Or is there some information he's withholding in which he believes another is to take Sora's place as a "guardian of light" for the great clash? Perhaps I'm missing this information as I haven't played DDD myself.
Did more research... I see Master Xehanort would simply target the 7 princesses of light.
Lea is the true seventh (notice how he got his keyblade at the most opportune moment), Sora is not a true Keyblade Wielder, the Kingdom Key is not truly his just like how the Keyblade of Darkness isn't Mickey's real Keyblade.

Sora was never meant to have a keyblade to begin with. Terra had given the Kingdom Key to Riku when Riku was a child. Aqua was going to give them both the power of the Key lad but since Terra already have Riku the power she chose not to give Sora the power. In KH1 when Destiny Islands was falling into darkness Riku had darkness in his heart. Therefore, the Kingdom Key chose Sora instead since Sora’s heart was pure light.
Now I realize as a black man that there was a reason I see my dream black person interested in any video game or anime with dark skin, white hair, either yellow or purple eyes.
I pray for the day a black character can have the impact Riku and Sora has had on my life.

Nah, it doesn't look like they know any of it. I think they have their own reasons (past).
I've thought about that, but sadly I don't think that was the case. Marluxia simply wanted dominion over the Organization. The only members that actually knew what Xemnas was up to were Xigbar and Saix. You can bet that if any of the others knew that they were being lead on and could become human just by playing the waiting game that the Organization would have collapsed very quickly. They would have either gone against Xemnas for being betrayed, helped Sora in some fashion, or both.

I know right, the not possessed Young Xehanort in BBS was a lot harder than this one, I hated that fight with a passion after he kept on spamming Doom and his basic combo attacks, also when he kept going invisible with clones attacking me.
