When I got this game in 2009, I was 8 years old, and I didn't know you could use those little level up things that increase your HP and strength and all that, so I beat this game level 1 basically, and I feel really dumb

True, the delivery could have been better, but the naivite of the sentence mirrors Roxas' understanding of the concept of emotions: he has no words for the feeling of happiness when the three (or two) of them shared ice cream above the town, so this is the only way he is able to phrase it.
Yeah, he's basically trying to say, "Don't leave me all alone". He just left the organization, and he knows they won't just let him back in easy peasy. And really, after what they did, he wouldn't go back for all of the sea salt ice cream in the world. As the last mission shows, he basically has no real guidance or plan without someone else

Of all the kingdom hearts, the sadest. I love the plot. Most people sais "it is meaningles". It matters to me. A lot. Xion is one of the main points I want to be solved on Kingdom Hearts 3.

They should've remastered this game instead of Chain of Memories for 1.5, this game was so much better than the card gameplay. Chain of memories would've been fine as a cutscene movie like they did with this one. The cutscenes in chain of memories were the only things that really mattered, there was no story at all in the Disney worlds.
Except that Chain of memories wasn't remastered for 1.5. It was remastered for KH 2 Final Mix. So besides the fact is that the new cutscenes of this game are in the 1.5, nothing else was really added.

No, you ARE correct in saying Xion is the final boss of this game. While Riku is the last one, that fight was more connected to KH2's storyline than Days' story, and Xion is the real conclusion to Days. Just like KH3D: Young Xehanort is technically the final boss, with the Nightmare Ventus Armor afterwards.
I mean the HD re-release of this game is a total bummer. No gameplay, just cinema... Do you realize how awesome it would have been if we were able to play as the entire Organization!? With a revamped move set and character design!? *Sigh* But, as you know, the game designers decided to just give us a collection of scenes instead... You know, it's kinda anti-climatic if you think about it.

I also agree with the idea of calling Xion the Final Boss of Days. It's multi-staged, like most traditional KH Final Bosses. The game's story hinges on it far more than Riku's fight, which regardless of the whole Roxas beating once thing, we pretty much already knew almost the entire outcome. It's just more eventful in general.

I guess you could be right. However, it still pales in comparison to the importance of Xion's battle for Days' plot. The fight with Riku is more crucial to KH2's plot and we do see enough cutscenes of it later in the game to get an idea of things, so yeah.

I want Xion to come back in KH3 because I feel like Roxas deserves her, but he is (story wise) in love with Namine because he's Sora's counterpart, and Namine is Kairi's. And besides, Xion was made up of Sora's memories, so if she came back, Sora would have to go back in to that coma state that he was in at the end of chain of memories. But I do hope they find a way for Roxas to become whole, because I think it would be cool to see Roxas and Sora fighting heartless together as two whole people. that would be badass

See I think that Xion can come back. But Namine's too much of a bitch (in my speculating head) to let it happen. If she was able to give the memories back then she knows which ones they are. And with that she's able to copy them (Sora and fake Riku having the same memories in CoM), after that it's a matter of simply taking the replicated memories and stuffing them inside a vessel and BAM, Xion's back.
TheHEARTSofLIGHT ... I don't quite follow. Your saying, if Naminé could duplicate Sora's chain of memories, she could make Xion? Would that make Xion? Would it make another Sora? Xion was just there to hold Sora's memories until Naminé could fix them, as shown towards the end of 358/2 days. Her death signified Sora's revival basically.I really don't think it's possible. And besides, I'm pretty sure Roxas doesn't even rememeber Xion, so, I'm sure her part is played. She doesn't really have any story relevance anymore. Sad, she was a good character.
This was the only ever boss fight I would play over and over again because of much of an emotional impact it made on me. In her final form, hearing the blades slash as Xion forces her attacks onto Roxas tugged at my heartstrings the most. It's hard (for me at least) not to tear up at the sound of the music (Vector to the Heavens)along with the persisting dialouge being made by Xion towards Roxas (and us as the player).
So was Xion actually tryimg to get Roxas to kill her by pushing him to his limits enough that he'd be forced to end her? Or did she fight him in order to consume him and destroy them both (Thinking about when she said she was "about to overflow")? Also, I'm not sure why people laughed about the ice cream bit, my heart broke when he sais that ;_;
She couldn't bring herself to end her own life, even for Sora's sake, so she feigned turning against Roxas during his most desperate hours, and convinced him to fight her.
She did it to wake up sora she knows she a puppet Roxas doesn't know he's a nobody so she fought him to bring him into her to wake up sora but she failed since Roxas defeated her . But reality she wanted to push Roxas to his limit to defeat her.. it's sad. .
either she beats roxas and then can finish her business with the org before waking sora up or she looses and dies,allowing sora to wake up and roxas to keep existing.at this moment,it was a win win for her,but the next days turned it to a pretty big loose loose
I hated this part, never since birth by sleep have I felt so torn over fighting a character that has become so dear to me, it was a mix between sadness because it was two best friends fighting plus the soundtrack, and anger because Xion kept killing me
The fact that this game exists only as cutscenes on ompilation disks now makes me consider the actual gameplay a form of lost media. There are very few legit ways you can play this game anymore and it makes me sad.
Man, I keep coming back to this game and it's kind of amazing how much better the cutscenes and voice acting were in this than in any other game in the series.
Yeah this game is definite one of the best in the story when it comes to plot and storytelling as well as the voiceqcting. It's my 3rd favorite kh game asided from kh1 and 2
+123spdl Yeah she's pretty easy, it's that third form where she starts fighting like a samurai that gets difficult. Next to the final boss of re:Coded, this is the easiest end game fight of the series.
+TS040Hybrid First form was easiest. 3rd form at that glowing spin attack that decimated your health. Easist to hardest: 1st form, 4th form, 3rd form, 2nd form.
This is like the best part of the entire game... and what a shame it had to be right at the end, too. If the rest of 358/2 Days was like this, then it would be much better.
Honestly the saddest scene in Kingdom Hearts in my opinion. I just cried. It really does hurt to say goodbye to a genuine friend that you get so used to hanging out with all of the time, but in this situation it's worse because it's a permanent goodbye. I get that both Roxas and Xion end up living on in Sora's heart but still. Xion loses her existence and everyone ends up forgetting her. Imagine how hard it would be to say goodbye to that? I know it's just a game but it's so deep.
I wish I still had my DS to play this again :/ This was by far the best DS game I ever played, and this Xion battle was one of the most memorable moments for me out of all the games I've played.
The ice came out from Xion is a fail safe feature left behind by Vexen to self destruct herself should she being captured or useless to the organization.

Since Sora doesn't have a heart, the body would disintegrate but Yozora crystallized him instead to preserve what remains of Sora. But they made Re:Coded -_-'' [Oh, did you know Coded was originally for telephone? xD] (Also, Graphics are also Improved, as In from DS to PS3 ¬_¬) Also, Chain of Memories was originally for GBA.. The only thought I have about 358/2 days Is that It Is a pretty kind of complex game. You know, how It works with days Is a factor. Also, remaking 358/2 days Implies also recreating the many available playable characters from the Organization XIII [and even Donald and Goofy] (maybe almost every character), and since this game had a.... weird mechanic for personalizing your skills, levels, magic, weapons, etc; that stuff also goes for any playable character.. [Example, have you ever played as Axel with a pair of Pizzas? xD]
+Volt The Hedgehog That means you have to constantly be next to her and in her attack range. It's extra annoying in her second phase when she constantly spams Ragnarok (which the healing startup animation looks very similar to by the way)
Neel McSwaggins The Third That's still a risky move considering if you're too far away from her she can do the healing move and if you're too close then it's pretty likely she'll hit you with atleast one of the lazers, leading to all of them hitting you and your hp taking a hefty blow.
Thomas Mckeown Theres a perfect range. When she first releases it, you should try to be as far away from her as possible. Then, as she is falling down and the lasers are about halfway, jump, air dash to the RIGHT twice, and 3 times to Xion. Then, fall to the ground, jump back up. She should probably engage her gravity-portal-thing, so glide TO it, but just enough where the attack wont hit. The Ragnarok would fade at this point, allowing you to pull off some air combos. If you are close to Xion, when she jumps up to cast Ragnarok, do 1 air combo, and air glide 3 times away. Then rinse and repeat, except she should try and engage a normal combo, so stay to the right of her, then combo. She almost never uses her healing if you do this ragnarok strat.
In my opinion, the saddest death in the series. Xion was never really meant to exist, but when she gained her own sense of identity she became part of something so important. She'll always be remembered regardless of what happened.

When you’ve played Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories and KH1 and watch the cutscenes you really start to realize Roxas’ fate at the beginning of Kingdom Hearts II. Roxas is ultimately a character that is defined by tragedy. He started off as someone that had no idea of who he was, starts working in the organization eventually making friends with Axel and Xion but has no idea that the Organization he works for is manipulating him to make him miserable; almost as if it was meant to screw with Roxas mentally and physically. And when he loses the fight against Riku and see what happens to the nobody at the beginning of Kingdom Hearts II it’s really heartbreaking to see. The scene where Sora shreds a tear before getting on the train gets to me because it’s not Sora crying but Roxas. And when you fight Roxas in The World that Never Was with The Other Promise playing you can tell his feelings: he’s angry frustrated and broken hearted because he felt Sora had taken everything he cared for away. And when Sora runs into him in Dream Drop Distance and Sora sees everything Roxas had slowly be taken away from him Sora is shaken and horrified at everything the Organization had done to him. When Sora says: “Did they cause all this pain?” I felt that he understood Roxas’ role back then and is more motivated than ever in Kingdom Hearts III to set him free and get the sigil back as a way to apologize for everything that happened throughout his life.
How and when did she learn to transform into that thing? Personally I think it would have made more and sense and looked like a better fight if it was just an all out key blade fight between the two. Second question, how is she switching to different worlds like that? Or is she Tesseracting with Roxas like Organization XIII members usually do?

imagine doing this fight blind without all the most powerful magic, the ability to glide, probably not the best keyblade, and definitely more than a few lvls below where I should be... that would be my first time fighting her... needless to say I never actually won and before I could figure out how to beat her I actually lost the game (I hated it, this was my favorite) I take pride in he fact I managed to at least make it to her third or fourth form before she finally beat me
I was more impressed with the presentation of this game. This is a legitimately amazing sounding game, and the graphical quality is pretty awesome for the DS. If this game played like Re:coded, this could be one of the best KH games of all time. The slow nature of the game killed it for me. Re:coded has the perfect amount of gameplay, and to me, is the best handheld KH experience. It isn't too difficult like BBS, the bosses aren't shit like DDD, and there's no gimmicky gameplay style like in GBA CoM. Not that these games are bad, they just have their issues. Coded is the best handheld KH experience since it's easy enough for newcomers, but has enough difficult moments like Data-Roxas that can make some veterans have trouble. But Days just had so much potential. A story about a fan favorite character, with one of the saddest moments in Kingdom Hearts, and a fantastic OST.. how could it fail? The pacing. The fact that they focused so much on ice cream symbolism did kinda play a factor of that. I know it's a symbolism and that makes the "who else will I have ice cream with?" line really sad, but if they focused more on some character interactions, it could've been stronger. Onto the gameplay, though. The mission structure could be fine if the game wasn't so slow with such awful magic. Curaga and Thundaga are the most useful spells in the game. Firaga and Blizzaga were okay, though. But Roxas felt like Ventus in early BBS mixed in with early KH1 Sora. I know it's logical, but it's still annoying from a gameplay perspective. Aerial combos are kinda not good in this game compared to the other KH games, and the way Keyblades and leveling up work is just... odd.
As a remake this should have been released on 3DS in the same year that 1.5 was released and Re:Coded with 2.5 the 3DS produces the same visuals as a PS3 but at a lower resolution 3DS 800p x 240p 3DS XL 800p x 320p but still they had the X10 from KH3D they could've used
I find it ridiculously tragic that despite the fact that for the past couple minutes, Xion has done nothing but try to kill Roxas. Yet in 9:44 he still tries his best to reach out to her and try to set things right. Too bad she dies in the end. Despite his efforts.

In this game, when you hit the yellow portion of your HP bar, you can activate your Limit Break, kinda like one of Sora's forms. Each time you use it, the yellow will deplete, and be replaced with just green HP.
First time I ever finished the game, and watched as Xion died or 'faded away' in Roxas' arms, I cried for a while after that. I fell in love with all three of them- Axel, Rosa's, Xion. It may seem stupid, but I hated having to fight Xion in this last battle, but it helps progress the story to it's climax and ending; even though it was heart breaking. . .
i finished this game when i was gr. 2 and deym this made me cry so hard, i would always listen to the menu music and play the theater mode thingy and just bruhhh

Of all the kingdom hearts, the sadest. I love the plot. Most people sais "it is meaningles". It matters to me. A lot. Xion is one of the main points I want to be solved on Kingdom Hearts 3.

They should've remastered this game instead of Chain of Memories for 1.5, this game was so much better than the card gameplay. Chain of memories would've been fine as a cutscene movie like they did with this one. The cutscenes in chain of memories were the only things that really mattered, there was no story at all in the Disney worlds.

No, you ARE correct in saying Xion is the final boss of this game. While Riku is the last one, that fight was more connected to KH2's storyline than Days' story, and Xion is the real conclusion to Days. Just like KH3D: Young Xehanort is technically the final boss, with the Nightmare Ventus Armor afterwards.

this kingdom hearts was by far the hardest of the series in proud mode. though i don't know how you were doing so much damage and taking so little.
For me so far COM is the hardest, this was nothing if you know how to stack-up correctly. But still it is pretty annoying at times in solo fights.

I also agree with the idea of calling Xion the Final Boss of Days. It's multi-staged, like most traditional KH Final Bosses. The game's story hinges on it far more than Riku's fight, which regardless of the whole Roxas beating once thing, we pretty much already knew almost the entire outcome. It's just more eventful in general.
+SilverJ17 Agreed. It was obviously intentional for Riku to be TONS easier than Xion as well. Day 358 was more of a prologue for KH2 and for those reasons alone, it goes without saying that Xion is the game's final boss battle.

1. If Riku hadn't stopped him, angry Roxas would've stormed Organization 13 and died. If that had happened -> RIP Sora

I guess you could be right. However, it still pales in comparison to the importance of Xion's battle for Days' plot. The fight with Riku is more crucial to KH2's plot and we do see enough cutscenes of it later in the game to get an idea of things, so yeah.
***** All the emotion is thrown into the Xion fight, the scene before the fight and after along with the difficulty level is nearly on the same scale as the traditional KH final boss sequence. The day with Riku was like an epilogue.

I want Xion to come back in KH3 because I feel like Roxas deserves her, but he is (story wise) in love with Namine because he's Sora's counterpart, and Namine is Kairi's. And besides, Xion was made up of Sora's memories, so if she came back, Sora would have to go back in to that coma state that he was in at the end of chain of memories. But I do hope they find a way for Roxas to become whole, because I think it would be cool to see Roxas and Sora fighting heartless together as two whole people. that would be badass

See I think that Xion can come back. But Namine's too much of a bitch (in my speculating head) to let it happen. If she was able to give the memories back then she knows which ones they are. And with that she's able to copy them (Sora and fake Riku having the same memories in CoM), after that it's a matter of simply taking the replicated memories and stuffing them inside a vessel and BAM, Xion's back.

This was the only ever boss fight I would play over and over again because of much of an emotional impact it made on me. In her final form, hearing the blades slash as Xion forces her attacks onto Roxas tugged at my heartstrings the most. It's hard (for me at least) not to tear up at the sound of the music (Vector to the Heavens)along with the persisting dialouge being made by Xion towards Roxas (and us as the player).

She did it to wake up sora she knows she a puppet Roxas doesn't know he's a nobody so she fought him to bring him into her to wake up sora but she failed since Roxas defeated her . But reality she wanted to push Roxas to his limit to defeat her.. it's sad. .

Honestly the saddest scene in Kingdom Hearts in my opinion. I just cried. It really does hurt to say goodbye to a genuine friend that you get so used to hanging out with all of the time, but in this situation it's worse because it's a permanent goodbye. I get that both Roxas and Xion end up living on in Sora's heart but still. Xion loses her existence and everyone ends up forgetting her. Imagine how hard it would be to say goodbye to that? I know it's just a game but it's so deep.

The only thought I have about 358/2 days Is that It Is a pretty kind of complex game. You know, how It works with days Is a factor. Also, remaking 358/2 days Implies also recreating the many available playable characters from the Organization XIII [and even Donald and Goofy] (maybe almost every character), and since this game had a.... weird mechanic for personalizing your skills, levels, magic, weapons, etc; that stuff also goes for any playable character.. [Example, have you ever played as Axel with a pair of Pizzas? xD]

That's still a risky move considering if you're too far away from her she can do the healing move and if you're too close then it's pretty likely she'll hit you with atleast one of the lazers, leading to all of them hitting you and your hp taking a hefty blow.
Thomas Mckeown Theres a perfect range. When she first releases it, you should try to be as far away from her as possible. Then, as she is falling down and the lasers are about halfway, jump, air dash to the RIGHT twice, and 3 times to Xion. Then, fall to the ground, jump back up. She should probably engage her gravity-portal-thing, so glide TO it, but just enough where the attack wont hit. The Ragnarok would fade at this point, allowing you to pull off some air combos. If you are close to Xion, when she jumps up to cast Ragnarok, do 1 air combo, and air glide 3 times away. Then rinse and repeat, except she should try and engage a normal combo, so stay to the right of her, then combo. She almost never uses her healing if you do this ragnarok strat.
I love how nobody in Twilight town questions a teenager fighting a 14 metters monster.
In my opinion, the saddest death in the series. Xion was never really meant to exist, but when she gained her own sense of identity she became part of something so important. She'll always be remembered regardless of what happened.

This part of the game is so heartbreaking. It's a knife to the heart having to defeat Xion.
When you’ve played Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories and KH1 and watch the cutscenes you really start to realize Roxas’ fate at the beginning of Kingdom Hearts II. Roxas is ultimately a character that is defined by tragedy. He started off as someone that had no idea of who he was, starts working in the organization eventually making friends with Axel and Xion but has no idea that the Organization he works for is manipulating him to make him miserable; almost as if it was meant to screw with Roxas mentally and physically. And when he loses the fight against Riku and see what happens to the nobody at the beginning of Kingdom Hearts II it’s really heartbreaking to see. The scene where Sora shreds a tear before getting on the train gets to me because it’s not Sora crying but Roxas. And when you fight Roxas in The World that Never Was with The Other Promise playing you can tell his feelings: he’s angry frustrated and broken hearted because he felt Sora had taken everything he cared for away. And when Sora runs into him in Dream Drop Distance and Sora sees everything Roxas had slowly be taken away from him Sora is shaken and horrified at everything the Organization had done to him. When Sora says: “Did they cause all this pain?” I felt that he understood Roxas’ role back then and is more motivated than ever in Kingdom Hearts III to set him free and get the sigil back as a way to apologize for everything that happened throughout his life.
How and when did she learn to transform into that thing? Personally I think it would have made more and sense and looked like a better fight if it was just an all out key blade fight between the two. Second question, how is she switching to different worlds like that? Or is she Tesseracting with Roxas like Organization XIII members usually do?

imagine doing this fight blind without all the most powerful magic, the ability to glide, probably not the best keyblade, and definitely more than a few lvls below where I should be... that would be my first time fighting her... needless to say I never actually won and before I could figure out how to beat her I actually lost the game (I hated it, this was my favorite) I take pride in he fact I managed to at least make it to her third or fourth form before she finally beat me

I was more impressed with the presentation of this game. This is a legitimately amazing sounding game, and the graphical quality is pretty awesome for the DS.
If this game played like Re:coded, this could be one of the best KH games of all time. The slow nature of the game killed it for me. Re:coded has the perfect amount of gameplay, and to me, is the best handheld KH experience. It isn't too difficult like BBS, the bosses aren't shit like DDD, and there's no gimmicky gameplay style like in GBA CoM. Not that these games are bad, they just have their issues. Coded is the best handheld KH experience since it's easy enough for newcomers, but has enough difficult moments like Data-Roxas that can make some veterans have trouble. But Days just had so much potential. A story about a fan favorite character, with one of the saddest moments in Kingdom Hearts, and a fantastic OST.. how could it fail? The pacing.
The fact that they focused so much on ice cream symbolism did kinda play a factor of that. I know it's a symbolism and that makes the "who else will I have ice cream with?" line really sad, but if they focused more on some character interactions, it could've been stronger. Onto the gameplay, though. The mission structure could be fine if the game wasn't so slow with such awful magic. Curaga and Thundaga are the most useful spells in the game. Firaga and Blizzaga were okay, though. But Roxas felt like Ventus in early BBS mixed in with early KH1 Sora. I know it's logical, but it's still annoying from a gameplay perspective. Aerial combos are kinda not good in this game compared to the other KH games, and the way Keyblades and leveling up work is just... odd.

As a remake this should have been released on 3DS in the same year that 1.5 was released and Re:Coded with 2.5 the 3DS produces the same visuals as a PS3 but at a lower resolution 3DS 800p x 240p 3DS XL 800p x 320p but still they had the X10 from KH3D they could've used

In this game, when you hit the yellow portion of your HP bar, you can activate your Limit Break, kinda like one of Sora's forms. Each time you use it, the yellow will deplete, and be replaced with just green HP.

First time I ever finished the game, and watched as Xion died or 'faded away' in Roxas' arms, I cried for a while after that. I fell in love with all three of them- Axel, Rosa's, Xion. It may seem stupid, but I hated having to fight Xion in this last battle, but it helps progress the story to it's climax and ending; even though it was heart breaking. . .
I don't want to sound like a total asshole and ruin the sad moment but...

Lol I know that, you're the hundredth person to tell me. It's just that the underwhelming final battle (it WAS too easy, admit it) against Riku had many fans on the KH 358/2 Days forums deciding, once again, as fans, that Xion was the real final challenge of the game.

this has me a bit pissed off If Square had the time to port over kingdom hearts 3d dream drop distance with out the touch screen stuff Then why didn't they port over both 358/2 days and Recoded instead we get the cut scenes re animated WTF is up with that shit.
Can’t believe I forgot this game! I beat this in 2010 almost a decade ago. This boss fight brings about memories of raging.
kh games are truly one of the best games in the world, just having all these cool characters from different games and cartoons and companies interacting
If any of the kingdom hearts deserves a remake- it's this one
I also like that the final phase of the boss taunts, coerces and even actively warns Roxas of oncoming hits.
