This was one of the best review with VR for sim racing, thanks!
I'm very interested in the Valve Index. Thanks for pointing out that I only need one sensor for seated gaming. That really bumps it up on my want list.

Thanks. I am curious how well the software IPD adjustment works. My Lenovo Explorer uses software too, but my IPD is in the average sweet spot so I haven't been able to test it.

Don't be concerned about the video quality shown in the video, this is not exactly what you see through the lens. VR gameplay recordings aren't a true reflection of the clarity of a VR headset, this rule applies to all VR headsets. And sim titles always look worse for some reason in recordings too. The Index image quality is excellent, you wouldn't be disappointed.

Either way this will be a major game changer for me in terms of racing in general, as I've been using my OLED essentially exclusively for games and while it's great it won't be anywhere near as good as VR will be.
A little tip as you sound new to VR, even with a 3080, resolution is by far the most demanding thing and the easiest way to gain back performance if your aiming for a higher refresh rate, a few other really demanding settings in VR are shadows, ambient occlusion, MSAA. I'd love to upgrade to an Index, but I don't see myself doing that until I've built a new PC with the latest and greatest. Until then, I can't justify the cost when a lot of what the Index offers won't be usable on my current setup.
Cheers for the feedback. You're right, it's a balancing act to make sure all the components compliment each other to get the best out of the whole. And sometimes one thing forces you down the path of spending on other upgrades which you hadn't intended on. I've been there many times!
This is why I went with the rift s , and very happy..project cars 2 in VR I awesome. Interested in the hp reverb but they are out of stock and have a few issues
Project Cars 2 in VR is stunning. But I have to say Assetto Corsa looks even better, it's absolutely gorgeous. Sadly the AI in Assetto Corsa is terrible most of the time. The Reverb does look interesting for racing and flight sims, but the problems it has for the asking price isn't acceptable. One to keep an eye once HP have ironed out the issues.
@@SimRacingCorner I also have an Index and a GTX1080ti (although an older CPU 7700k) and I fully agree that Assetto is leaps and bounds better looking in VR than PC2, not the same with a monitor but in VR, no contest. I'm running both games @90hz as the 120hz option yields decreasing returns IMHO. I run Assetto Corsa at 210% pixel density (set per app, SteamVR multiplier is set to 100%) and it is amazing the detail and clarity. My only gripe is that in order to see the braking lights of other cars you need to enable post-processing, which sends performance down the drain... I've tried some lighter PP filters but it affects performance too much... I wonder if you may have any suggestions on how to have the brakelights visible throughout the game with minimal impact on performance. Congrats on the review and the Channel, very informative and thorough. Well done!
Did you know there is a debug tool in the Oculus folder under support. If you disable Asynchronous Spacewarp it removes the 45 fps cap. I have had my Rift S for a few weeks and really enjoy sim racing with it.
Best review I’ve seen, so far, thanks! I also own a Vive since launch and like you say, the upgrade path is very tempting, as I’d only need the headset. Wondering whether Vive will be launching a wireless version soon or just a module. I have the audio upgrade and the wireless kit for the Vive, and for room space, I wouldn’t much like to go back to having a cable attached! Also not sure how my gfx card would handle the new resolution. I’m running a Radeon VII and a Ryzen 3600.
This was really thorough and helpful, thank you! Please consider a talk and drive format for your other sim racing content videos, I’d like to hear more opinions from you.
Great stuff, glad you liked the video. Talk and drives are quite difficult to do well, some guys out there are really good at racing and chatting at the same time, such as Jimmy Broadbent and GamerMuscle. I'm not so good at that multitasking skill to be honest, which why I've avoided them and produce content which plays to my strengths; such as the reviews and guides which I can research, script and take time to get right. But never say never, we'll see how it goes.👍
Thanks for the great video, finally someone explaining how the index performs in sim racing, assetto corsa run just as good as p2? Now I just need a similar video to appear for dcs world, waiting for my headset to be delivered.
Maybe I'm not from the best neighborhood; however most people that come over think my lighthouses are Cameras as they're pointed towards my PC/VR area which is a bonus.
I've just received my Index today and have just set it up. What was the on screen display widget you were using to see your fps etc in VR? Great review as well, keep up the good work.
I would have actually liked a 60hz option as well, assuming no flickering like the Reverb. Just options are awesome in general and perception of it is based on content. You may just have a windows sound driver problem or something with the Mic. I haven't heard anyone have that problem with the Index.
My Lenovo flickers at 60hz too, it's not just the Reverb. I think all of the WMR headsets flicker at 60hz. So it's possible the Index would suffer the same fate at 60hz too!
Excellent review! I was about to get a pimax 5kx plus before i watched this. all the complaints about the pimax’s peripheral distortion made me cancel the order. Definitely will try to get this if its back in stock!
@@SimRacingCorner Yeah, I'm researching them now. I didn't cancel my index order yet... I might just have to wait. Hopefully the 8 weeks gets cut down to 4-5 weeks.
I just got my Valve Index and remembered this Review that helped me a lot with my decision, but i also remembered that you never reach more then 90% GPU Utilization mostly sitting around 60%+ in the video, which normally indicates a CPU Bottleneck. After that i saw your CPU and thought that this is impossible with that Silicon and has something to do with VR. Now where i have my Index i can say that i have a steady 90%+ GPU Utilization in Project Cars with roughly the same Settings and consistent, just rarely dropping, 120 FPS on the same GPU but with an i9 9900k @ 5,3 Ghz OC. So i can confidently say that you have a CPU Bottleneck in PC2 in VR with a 8700k.... but i dont know how that is even possible, the CPU should have more then enough Horsepower for the Job.
@@SimRacingCorner It is likely that PC2 (and also the other games) are only able to use a limited amount of cores and therefore rely on high clock speeds. The 8700k gets 4,7ghz stock on single core while Shideras overclock obviously has 5,3ghz. That would also be in line with the low CPU usage but high CPU frametime seen in the video.
use the following launch options in steam for project cars 2, it well help with performance a bit -dx11mt -pthreads 4 -skipcrowds (it cant use more than 4 cores so 4 is the max setting, 2 by default)
I have a 1080ti as well . I opted for max eye candy though, running 120hz motion smoothing from 60hz. This lets me leave my1.18 global supersampling on. In game textures high. Car details high. 16 x AF and MSAA on. Shadows and Reflections Medium. Grass Medium.
The motion smoothing caused some artifacts so I went with performance settings. But I was recording the gameplay at the same time so that would affect things for me too.
Great review! BTW is there a way to connect external headphones to the headset? Because since those internal ones are open, this could be problem for example when recording videos with commentary etc
Thanks. There's no jack for plugging in your own headphones. At full speaker volume, there will be feedback into the Microphone. The speakers are very loud. I haven't tested reducing the volume to find what level where that issue is tuned out, but I think it can be dealt with by balancing the speaker volume and microphone sensitivity levels.
@@SimRacingCorner i have very good microphone and i am sure it would pick up the sound from the Index speakers. Is there a way to use VR and have sound coming from normal headphones connected to PC? (I have never owned VR before so i am not sure how this works) I know it would be bit difficult and uncomfortable to try and put headphones over the Valve index on your head somehow, but i guess that would be only solution.
@@Molda22You can use your own headphones and microphone. You just change the software settings. But you won't be able to fit headphones over the Index (I've just tested the theory), the speakers will get in the way and they aren't removable.
thanks for the review, really nice and detailed. I wanted to suggest you to try RBR with the VR mod by Kegetys. Its an old graphics engine so you could easily have 144hz and experience it in a sim. Its basically my only sim title, but im on an OR cv1 thinking about buying an Index + 1 base station.
Hey Pedro. I have been meaning to try RBR in VR, thanks for the reminder. I'll try and get around to it soon as I was curious about how well it functions using the mod.
It’s in the mail, I’m mostly worried about going from the darkness and black levels of the rift, because my favorite VR game is elite dangerous which probably exaggerates the weaknesses of the headset.
There is a touch alias shimmer as I'm not running any supersampling. It's very slight though. I could reduce other graphic settings for supersampling, but I'm happy with the way it looks.
Good video. I didn't see much on the pass thru cameras. You mentioned some loss of fov with glasses. Have you had a friends who wear glasses try your headset. I am very nearsighted and worry about comfort.
Thanks Donal. The pass-through cameras aren't very useful really, I've never found a good use for them. No one with glasses has tried my Vive, but the loss of FOV isn't too bad if I adjust the lenses away to it's furthest position. It's still very useable.
There's plenty of good revive setup videos out there so I don't think I can add anything new to that subject. Using a single base station doesn't need any additional tutorial, you situate the base station in front and above your seated position, and that's it. If you are only using a single base station SteamVR doesn't care, there are no extra steps involved in the setup steps.
use the following launch options in steam for project cars 2, it well help with performance a bit -dx11mt -pthreads 4 -skipcrowds (it cant use more than 4 cores so 4 is the max setting, 2 by default)
wow such a good review like to buy the index may i ask a question. do i need a controller to install the index. i like to buy the headset and lighthouse only, and no controller. i do not habe vive controllers.
I'm on the verge of ordering the Index but have one question. I'm only going to be using the headset for sim racing and flying. My question is - do I need the controllers for the initial setup of the index? I have zero need for the controllers when it comes to gaming. Hoping that I can get away without ordering the controllers. If the controllers are necessary for the initial setup, can I borrow my friend's HTC Vive controllers to get through the setup? Thanks for the great review, I'm basically sold on the Index. Hoping to see a big time improvement over the CV1.
Nice video!! I actually have the first HTC Vive and I’m thinking update only the HMD with this Valve Index. I normally race in iRacing and my pc has i7-6700k, gtx 1070 and 16gb Ram. I have done the test you can find in Steam with good results but. Do you think that I could run iRacing at stable 90fps?
I have Index and can run iRacing on 120fps. Have a Ryzen 3600x and 2070 super. Your Config looks fine for 90fps At least. What I have heard is that the CPU is more of a bottleneck for iRacing VR than the GPU, so you might want to consider upgrading your CPU before GPU
great review. i'm considering getting an index, still using the vive 1st gen, and sadly.. i think the vive sucks.. specially in simracing. i have an 1080ti as well, but what really really makes me angry, are that flickering white lines, roadmarks, sidemarks.. that flickers so insane, it made me stop playing simracers.. is this gone with the index? rift never had that issue, it was just a vive thing.. but soo annoying.
The flickering shimmer is something I hate too. With the right game settings, you can reduce it to a very minimal or eliminated state. It does depend on the sim title. The resolution is noticeably a big leap forward over the Vive, which I previously owned.
@@SimRacingCorner so the flickering is still a thing, even with the index? i had this especially on pc2 and eurotruck sim. in acc it was more or less acceptable
@@bhBlacky82 I've had a Vive, and Lenovo Explorer WMR. And of course the Index now. It's not the headset that's the problem as they all can suffer from this, it's the game graphics. The flickering are the hard edges of objects and fine lines such as overhead cables. Using Supersampling and in-game antialiasing will reduce or can eliminate the problem. And some titles are better at this than others. And the power of the PC determines how much supersampling and antialiasing can be applied. A 1080ti is fine for me. There can be some isolated shimmer here and there, depending on the game, but it's not to a degree of being distracting or a problem of significance for me.
I guess I'm picky because the screen door is still there to me. The HP Reverb v2 has the best resolution that I've seen so far and I know Pimax 8KX is coming soon.
I tried the motion compensation with my HTC Vive previously and found it added some pretty bad frame stutter, and I haven't used it since. But personally, motion and VR without motion compensation is fine for me. VR and motion is pretty damn awesome, and it works just fine with the Index.
I didn't see any god rays in any night races, and I did look out for them. But there is some lens glare in night race conditions. It's not horrendous but does remain constant throughout the race.
@@brianschwarm8267 ED is in my Steam library, but have yet to play it. So I can't comment. I have played some VR titles with dark environments such as Arizona Sunshine. The weaker dark levels over my HTC Vive (same displays as the CV1) doesn't bother me, and the fact is the visual quality is excellent on the Index regardless.
Great in depth review, thanks Could I ask about the ACC performance as its seems towards the end of the reaview ACC showed very low FPS? I have a similar setup for my PC RTX2080 @2100mhz I9 9900K @ 5.1Ghz I only ask as I am only racing ACC cheers
Thanks Kurvz. ACC performance is a notoriously poor VR performer. I was running ACC at mostly the lowest in-game settings here and it struggles as you can see. There are some INI tweaks that can help a bit. And that's something I will revisit in a future video soon. I previously benchmarked AC vs. ACC on a single monitor, and ACC showed up to half the framerate than AC on the highest settings. Not a problem with a high-end PC, as that's still over 60fps. But VR is harder on the system, hence the pretty poor VR FPS.
@@SimRacingCorner Thanks for the fast reply, that's worrying hope they get it sorted, I have no issued running ACC @ 120fps after a good few hours testing settings in video options, I now have it looking and performing awesomely, thank god my CPU and GPU ar winners of the silicon lottery. I did try a Rift for two days and couldn't accept the image quality and the lack of clarity in the distance on Pcars 2 but the feeling of being in the car I will never forget for sure and still has me interested. Beta 1.0.7 no mention of VR :( thanks again
@@Kurvz I'm not hopeful Kunos is able to (or invest the time) optimise the VR performance in ACC, to be honest. Kunos removed all references to 'VR supported' on the ACC Steam page, and I think that's a telling indication of sweeping the poor VR performance under the carpet, so to speak. Like you, several sim racers found the resolution of first VR headsets released in 2016 not good enough. Things have moved on nicely; and the Index, Samsung Odyssey, HTC Vive Pro has very good screen resolutions that work great for sim racing.
That's really sad :( I live in hope that the implementation of TrackIR gets better as its really stuttering for me, just love ACC best driving experience for me i'll hold off on the Valve thank you for the advice and pointers
Quick question. I plan on purchasing an RTX 2080 Super. Will this card be more than ample to handle the Valve Index playing DCS World, Project Cars 2, Dirt Rally 2.0, etc? Thanks! Intel - Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Crucial P1 1TB 3D NAND NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD 16GB DDR3-2400
A 2080 Super is a fine card of VR sim racing, it's a bit more powerful than the 1080 Ti which I used in this review. I don't know about flight sim performance, I don't play those.
Thanks so much for the review! I do not understand English very well very quickly, and I ask YOU to write here - very briefly - is it worth buying it or is it better to buy a Viva pro ... and I also have an I7-8700K-16GB dd4 - 2080TI computer - will this be enough? or I need to update it - please give me a recommendation - I will be very grateful to YOU!
Hi there. Your PC will is really good, you will have no problems running the Index. I would recommend the Index over the Vive Pro. The Index has a larger FOV, better audio, and a faster display. I would also think the Index is more comfortable to wear too.
Why in all the reviews of different helmets never talk about whether it is possible to use this helmet with glasses? Is it possible to use this helmet with glasses? I have diopter glasses and I am currently using an Oculus S helmet, which has no problem with glasses. How is it with the Valve Index helmet?
I don't wear glasses so I didn't cover this area. There's is a dial that moves the lenses forward and back, specifically for accommodating glasses so I would say it is possible to wear glasses with the Index.
Hi, since you had the Lenovo Explorer do you think it's still a good buy from 250€? Or should i buy a better device? I almost do Endurance and i have a Samsung 49" for that, i was thinking to buy a VR/MR headset just for fun not to race. Thanks
Hi there. At 250 it's still a good buy new. But would suggest looking on eBay first as there are plenty of used Windows Mixed Reality headsets for sale. Including the Samsung Odyssey (the best of WMR headsets), which can be found for less than 250.
@@SimRacingCorner any wmr with SS on like 1.3 wouldn't be as sharp as the index? Would you still advice wmr headsets (not the reverb of course) in 2019? They are noticeably better than cv1 and vive 1?
@@LorenzoClara97 No it can't be as sharp at the Index, as the Index has a better screen which makes a big difference. You can get a really good deal on WMR headsets on eBay. For the price, they are still very good. Even better, look for a secondhand Samsung Oddessy. For price/screen quality, they are the best deal possible for sim racing VR.
@@SimRacingCorner maybe so..I use a valve steam controller to do my sim racing..I have it set for haptic..to steer and all .. also the paddles for changing gears.😄
Is there a reason the gameplay looks so blurry? I run AC in VR and it looks way better than your gameplay captures and my computer is a lower spec (6700k instead). Using my 5k+ it looks pretty amazing in VR, much better detail and lighting compared to these clips.
What you see through the headset lenses with your eyes, and what is recorded through a video game capture isn't the same thing. TH-cam also compresses video which drops the quality also.
@@NewBlackYork I'm having no problems with the original Assetto Corsa in VR, you can see it running fine in an earlier part of the video. AC is well optimised for VR, but millage varies depending on hardware. What GPU and CPU do have in your PC?
@@SimRacingCorner I've got a gtx 1080 and i7 8700. It should be enough. Rfactor2 is running fine. Maybe some kind of driver issue. I'm gonna check them.
Use the ROV environment test. FOV is exactly the same as Vive pro even when pushed all the way up and it adds a blinder effect (it is actually inner eye frames causing it).
Yes, that is possible. The headset is sold in two options, a complete package with everything or just the headset. And base stations can be purchased individually.
Surprised you are not running supersampling as is definitely makes a difference in clarity, even at the smallest amounts. Also I strongly suggest Assetto Corsa with Content Manager and the Shader mods. With the Index, this combo looks amazing and I can run 80 or 90hz with fairly high supersampling.
Even the default 100% in SteamVR is supersampling, but I was really happy that setting, and then using AA for cleaning up the edges. I was also recording at the same time so that does add extra load, making a bit more of a balancing act. Thanks for the Content Manager suggestion.👍
Dude be ware of one point. Pimax does NOT have 200' FOV as opposed to the 130' of the Index and the 110 of the Rift. Pimaxe's have 170' and it is not the first scam by them. In fact, the headset isn't 8k.. It is 4k but for two eyes.
Thanks Azar. I pulled the data from a WIKI page and company officially published details. I did discover the 8K Pimax upscales the picture from a lower resolution due to bandwidth limitations. I also knew it's not actually 8k in resolution. Naming the product 8K is quite misleading indeed. I wasn't aware of the FOV only being 170 and not 200 though. Thanks for posting. Cheers.
Valve Index also dont have this 130 fov ;] (its 110-115 for msot humans). Its subjective. Every human is different and lenses and the screens are not physically that big for this kind of FOV.
Build Quality? This is 98% plastic. I touched 2 VR headsets (rift, pimax) and they are all ok. The price however is horrible. Rift/S is 120% cheaper, there is no killer argument for buying a 1000€ + unit. Same for the Vive Pro. They are all good, all have their problems.

For me this is cool on a short sprint race, bit of a novelty, but triples with proper graphics and refresh rates is still where it’s at.
Great review.
I do enjoy how VR puts you in the actual driving seat. But If I had space I would like to add triples or at least a 49" ultra.
Vr >>>>>triple monitors by default. VR is about presence, depth, scale, 360....in the other hand....flat screen is depressive
Please share with us your graphics settings(PC2) for the best best balance between graphics and performance (Index)
Thanks for the great video, finally someone explaining how the index performs in sim racing, assetto corsa run just as good as p2? Now I just need a similar video to appear for dcs world, waiting for my headset to be delivered.
Thanks David. Performance is a major factor on whether it's a suitable purchase so it was important to show some benchmarks.
Excellent review! Subbed 👊
Thanks for the sub!
Hey there, it's called fpsVR, it's on Steam. It's very useful for tuning sim racing titles, it's makes things a lot easier. Cheers, and thanks.👍
Thanks for the quick reply, stuck at work at the moment so feeling frustrated I can't get my hands on my new HMD.
That's a shame. But hey, something to look forward too when you get home. Have fun!!!!
@@SimRacingCorner Ah well, that is strange because I have used the Oculus GO at 60hz with no flicker.
@@TheOGjarilo Okay, that interesting to hear. That is strange!
Excellent review! I was about to get a pimax 5kx plus before i watched this. all the complaints about the pimax’s peripheral distortion made me cancel the order. Definitely will try to get this if its back in stock!
Glad I could help!
@@SimRacingCorner wow I have to wait 8 weeks to get it! I might just get a Reverb or HTC Vive... 8 weeks is a long time
@@DreRaphael Just be sure sure to do plenty of research on these other headsets as well. Personally, I think it's worth the 8 week wait.
I'm also recording on the same PC at 60fps which doesn't help matters. Thanks for your feedback, it's a good read.
@@Blockbuster2033 I think you're correct. I'm only on air cooling but have all cores at 4.7. 4.8-9 works, but I don't like the temps.
use the following launch options in steam for project cars 2, it well help with performance a bit
-dx11mt -pthreads 4 -skipcrowds (it cant use more than 4 cores so 4 is the max setting, 2 by default)
This is going to help me with my settings. Thanks
@@SimRacingCorner ok, thanks a lot :)
thanks for the review, really nice and detailed.
Thank you for this vid. Very informative.

Great review, great work SRC :)
It’s in the mail, I’m mostly worried about going from the darkness and black levels of the rift, because my favorite VR game is elite dangerous which probably exaggerates the weaknesses of the headset.
Hell of a review, man! Thanks!

Great review, thanks. I'm looking forward to the HTC Cosmos, let's see if it's good for simracing

Great review. Thank you
Great video SRC. Have you noticed any wobbly/shimmering graphics in Assetto Corsa, especially with tyres in open cockpit cars?
There is a touch alias shimmer as I'm not running any supersampling. It's very slight though. I could reduce other graphic settings for supersampling, but I'm happy with the way it looks.
Great review Yo
Excellent review.
great review. can the Index be used without the hand controllers? (sim racing only)
Yes indeed, the hand controllers are completely optional.👍
Thanks for your video..did you figure out the hissing sound recording with the mic?
Yes, it was a fault. Valve replaced the headset and here is my mic re-test th-cam.com/video/P6-5OBzOxLM/w-d-xo.html
Can you do a setup video for how to setup revive and setting up Index with a single home base for a seated experience. Thanks
There's plenty of good revive setup videos out there so I don't think I can add anything new to that subject. Using a single base station doesn't need any additional tutorial, you situate the base station in front and above your seated position, and that's it. If you are only using a single base station SteamVR doesn't care, there are no extra steps involved in the setup steps.
use the following launch options in steam for project cars 2, it well help with performance a bit
-dx11mt -pthreads 4 -skipcrowds (it cant use more than 4 cores so 4 is the max setting, 2 by default)
wow such a good review
like to buy the index
may i ask a question. do i need a controller to install the index. i like to buy the headset and lighthouse only, and no controller. i do not habe vive controllers.
Controllers are not needed to set it up or run games. You can use the Index for sim racing without ever using a hand controller
Hi Alex, you don't need a controller to set up the headset, it's all done by mouse.
@@SimRacingCorner awesome, thank you for the info
Nice video!!
I actually have the first HTC Vive and I’m thinking update only the HMD with this Valve Index.
I normally race in iRacing and my pc has i7-6700k, gtx 1070 and 16gb Ram.
I have done the test you can find in Steam with good results but. Do you think that I could run iRacing at stable 90fps?
Sorry, I don't have iRacing and each sim title runs differently in VR so I can't even make a guess.
There can be some isolated shimmer here and there, depending on the game, but it's not to a degree of being distracting or a problem of significance for me.
i have just ordered the Valve Index and i have an i9 9900k with a 2080TI and 32gig of Ram i wonder if i can hold 120 hz with AA
I think you might be able too
Yes, you can reach very often 144hz!
I'm very envious of your set-up, that sounds amazing.
I guess I'm picky because the screen door is still there to me. The HP Reverb v2 has the best resolution that I've seen so far and I know Pimax 8KX is coming soon.
Does the motion compensation software with the NLR motion platform work with the index? If not, how are you liking using motion with the index?
I tried the motion compensation with my HTC Vive previously and found it added some pretty bad frame stutter, and I haven't used it since. But personally, motion and VR without motion compensation is fine for me. VR and motion is pretty damn awesome, and it works just fine with the Index.
What about Glare and God Ray effects in night race. Are they noticeable?
I didn't see any god rays in any night races, and I did look out for them. But there is some lens glare in night race conditions. It's not horrendous but does remain constant throughout the race.
So what’s your take on using the headset for elite dangerous, where it’s basically always night?
Thanks!
Intel - Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz
Crucial P1 1TB 3D NAND NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD
16GB DDR3-2400
A 2080 Super is a fine card of VR sim racing, it's a bit more powerful than the 1080 Ti which I used in this review. I don't know about flight sim performance, I don't play those.
@@SimRacingCorner Thank you for your response SRC!
I will research a little more or the flight sim.
Btw do you need the remotes and base stations or can you just get the headset and use that for iracing?
A single base station is required minium for sim racing. Controllers won't be required for iRacing.
I reccomend also Index over Pro. Index is much better in every way. Im happy upgrader from Pro and have same specs.
please can you share your settings for pc2?!?plz...
Will only the headset be sufficient or do you need the base station with it to race in VR?
A single base station to track the headset is needed for racing.
Thank you!
Hi, since you had the Lenovo Explorer do you think it's still a good buy from 250€? Or should i buy a better device? I almost do Endurance and i have a Samsung 49" for that, i was thinking to buy a VR/MR headset just for fun not to race.

Hi there. At 250 it's still a good buy new. But would suggest looking on eBay first as there are plenty of used Windows Mixed Reality headsets for sale. Including the Samsung Odyssey (the best of WMR headsets), which can be found for less than 250.

Nope, but that would be quite interesting to try. And quite challenging to control with your hands suspended in front of you I would imagine.
I did noticed your FPS lower in AC. I have the same issue with rift s. Do you know what caused the problem?
Are referring to Assetto Corsa Competizione (The fpsVR panel displays the game as AC2) which is shown 16 minutes into the video?
@@SimRacingCorner I meant that one. I thought that was AC. Didn't see AC2 label.
@@NewBlackYork I'm having no problems with the original Assetto Corsa in VR, you can see it running fine in an earlier part of the video. AC is well optimised for VR, but millage varies depending on hardware. What GPU and CPU do have in your PC?

Is the headset compatible with Oculus CV1 base stations?
No, it's a different tracking technology. You'll need the lighthouses.
Do i need the base stations only for sim racing?
A base station is required for tracking.
Hi, do you need index bases for simracing?
Yes, but will work with just 1 on them.
Use the ROV environment test. FOV is exactly the same as Vive pro even when pushed all the way up and it adds a blinder effect (it is actually inner eye frames causing it).
Do i need anything other than just the vr headset for simracing?
Yes, at least one lighthouse base station. I mention this in the review.
You also need a wheel, peddles and a pc
Is it possible to buy it with just 1 lighthouse?
What GPU are you using?
1080ti
3080 will help a lot on 144hz
can this vr be used with glasses?
Yes, there's a dial to adjust the distance of the lenses for that purpose.
You’re reviewing it with a 1080. You should do it with a 2080 and I’m sure it’ll run smoother at 144.

Well of course you can’t see a difference at 144 Hz when you are running a GTX 1080 TI.
It’s still the best VR for sim racing.
In game ur gpu should be at 100 percent the whole time
Dude be ware of one point.
Trust me I had both Pimax and Index at the same time. Pimax is way wider FOV. Index is exactly same as Vive pro.
Index has 110 FOV.
me watching this on youtube @ 60fps aaah yes 120 def looks smoother
You should have bought the Index controllers with the headset, the Vive Wands are terrible.
I will at some point. I have been using the wand controllers since 2016 so I am used to them, even if they aren't the best.
So it’s not a VR issue. It’s your system isn’t up to par.
What do you mean exactly?
Wait, there are better lenses out there from other companies? Why don't valve uses them? A lens can not be the most expensive thing on a vr headset
