Excellent review. After a gait analysis, I started using stability shoes and particularly the Kayano. The problem is that it was so clunky. I'm now using the Tempus and it's a massive improvement, though clearly the Kayano has improved as well. You mentioned that the Tempus isn't quite as roomy as the Kayano; though this needs some context as the Kayano has a very roomy toe-box. I have slightly wide feet, to the extent that the Puma Nitro series is far too tight, but the Tempus feels fine.
I agree the Tempest is great - also i have been impressed with the wear on the shoes. Welll over 100 miles and no significant wear. Given the minimal rubber i didnt expect that and i supinate heavily on the outside sole on one foot. I ground through the Adios Pro 2 sole at that one spot at about the same distance!
Pushing 700 miles in the Tempus (having previously spent years running in Hoka Arahi). Most of my running is zone 2 (9 minutes per mile), occasionally bumping it up into zone 4 (7:15 ish per mile) and find these really rewarding when I up the pace. Pity Hoka have done nothing with the Arahi, now that everyone else has jumped aboard the dual density foam train and do it so much better. They’re terrific, the Powerrun PB seems to be indestructible, same with the upper. I can see me getting another 100 or so miles in these, easily.
700?!!! How is the cushion and structure of the shoe holding up? After 300-350 (on saucony kinvara and guides) my feet start to ache and a fresh pair is needed.
@@MrFrodster I eventually retired them at 750 miles, replaced them with another pair of Tempus. There's definitely a difference in the feel of the foam but in all honesty I think I could have just replaced the insole and continued to use the Tempus up to 1000 miles.
Great review. Relatedly, I haven’t bought a pair of Sauconies in a number of years but have decided to check back in on the state of the Kinvara line and brand overall. Are any of their current offerings comparable to the Kinvara 11 (my favorite daily trainer ever between its lightness and stop-on-a-dime dexterity) and if not which brand/model would you instead recommend?
I absolutely adore my Tempus. As long as it's not wet, that is! The grip these provide on wet is horrendous! Im on the hunt for wet weather alternative to these. I'll appreciate any tips greatly!
I strongly prefer the Tempus (I'm on my second pair after doing 1000k in my first pair) but Puma foreverrun Nitro does a similar job and the grip is miles better albiet a bit 'noisy/slappy' - might be worth a look.
Yes, in my experience (two pairs) they take 30 or so miles to break in and then soften up a little. However, they are always a little firm at lower paces, I find I need to up the pace a litle to get the best bounce out of them.
I bought the Tempus, and I'm sending it back because the arch is so pronounced I can't even take standing in them. Seems only a couple of shoe reviewers on YT talk about the arch profile when it comes to fit, when it's such a critical criteria for a buyer/runner.
This could be useful or not useful for someone who wants that stability (response in the arch) to get feedback sooner so your ankle doesn't pronate as much, hence a stability shoe.
Coming from the Saucony Hurricane 23, which was the most comfortable shoe I've ever owned (although the front of the sole started to dissipate and come off after a while, and sometimes my little toe hurts), should I go for a Kayano (if so, which one?), the Saucony Tempus or try out some Altra Provisions for stability and free foot movements (or advertised as such). Any opinions appreciated! Great vid!
Hi, thanks for the review, I have the tempus and love it, would there be a better option for race day (marathon). I also use my orthotics in the shoe but there’s doesn’t seem to be much info out there on race day shoes with stability etc … thanks
Old thread, which one would you guess is best for walking in terms of longevity? (Rubber on the outside of my shoes always wear off first in the heel, guess I'm a heel striker)
@@MadLadsAnonymous I read on other channels release date Aug 2024. I am not crazy that the weight is increasing by ~0.5oz, but it’s my go-to shoe, so I’ll deal with it. I can’t wait till August for my next pair, so grabbed a pair of 1s to hold me over.
Please test the new GT2000 model 12. I just the 11 and didn’t realise the 12 has just come out. I want to know if it’s worth taking them back to get the new model as they were sold at full retail!
I have a crooked toe because of a bunion and the doctor recommended that I have to wear a shoe that has excellent stability in case it is hard and I can't bend it. I have Kayano 30 and I live it, the guide it's good like Kayano? I'm talking about stability and like 70% hard when you walk?
Could you use both as part of a rotation? I have the Tempus currently and was looking at the Kayano as my alternative for easy runs and walking. Would this work? Also looked at the Hyperion Max for intervals as I am a neutral runner but when tired need some support hence the above choices. Would the max fit into the rotation or would suggest it isn’t needed? TIA
@johnbutler3212 Yes I did. I bought the Tempus in a UK 9.5, and they fit perfectly. I can't recommend them enough for tempo and even race shoes. They're a fantastic shoe.👍
I think you can start a stability shoe even for everyday use even if you're not a runner. Shoes like the nike pegasus have no lateral support and might turn someone into a pronator. Tennis shoes have lateral supports but no cushion...
Tempus did not work for me. Way too stable and my feet hurt a lot. On the othet hand, I can run ok in the Kayano. Both are very stable. You can pick up the pace in the tempus, while kayano is more dead under foot.
They’re quick feeling shoes and I love them but I find them a little hard to hold back in. So yes you can run slower in them, but they make me want to run faster
Esta comparativa estaría mas igualada con el Asics gt 2000 12 seguro que le gana en estabilidad, comodidad y peso, aunque no en rebote al saucony con el mismo drop de 8mm.
I found the TEMPUS very hard at low pace... Not suitable for easy runs. I have most of the Saucony shoes like Triumph 20, Speed 2 and 3 and Pro 3 perfect shoes.. Tempus is a disappointment.
@i.p2808 Okay, we're about the same. I wasn't as disappointed as you. But it definitely didn't live quite up to the hype for me. Best stability shoe I've run in though. Low bar that is.
Tempus is still my favourite and most versatile support shoe. The yellow looks awesome too!

I have similar under pronating issues in one foot. Saucony's thin rubber seems durable.

Very interesting! I recently brought the Arahi and really like them but was looking at mixing it up. Perhaps I’ll have a look at the tempus. Cheers
I would get these both shoes !
One for faster runs and really hot days while the other would be for easy and recovering runs and also for casual use.
Hey ! Just bought both shoes too. May I know which one you’re using for faster runs ? Tempus right ?
Good review, I currently own the saucony tempus and use it for longer runs

Tempus is really an amazing shoe. Can do it all but love it for SLR the most
Do you think if Kipchoge went disguised into a shoe store, they would sell him a pair of Kayano's to stabilise that heel flare?

Saucony Tempus or Kinvara pro ? Is Kinvara pro a stability shoe ?
Does the Tempus foam soften up at all? Tried them on in a shop and they felt rock hard like concrete…

Tempus, Kayano 30, or 860 v14 for walking?
The tempus has been out for nearly a year. Do you think a v2 is coming. Hoping the price will drop.
