Johannes Brahms (1833-1897) was a German composer and pianist known for his significant contributions to Romantic music. He was born on May 7, 1833, in Hamburg, Germany. Brahms' works are characterized by their intricate structures, rich harmonies, and deep emotional expression. He is often regarded as one of the "Three Bs" of classical music, alongside Bach and Beethoven.
Brahms showed early musical talent as a pianist and composer. He gained recognition with his compositions and performances in various European cities. He formed close friendships with notable musicians like Robert and Clara Schumann, who greatly influenced his career. Brahms' compositions span a wide range of genres, including symphonies, chamber music, choral works, solo piano pieces, and more. His symphonies are known for their complexity and adherence to classical forms while infusing them with his unique emotional depth. Brahms' chamber music, particularly his piano quartets, piano quintets, and string quintets, showcase his mastery of intricate counterpoint and lyricism.

Thankyou for the
beautiful music !
Violin Sonata No. 1 in F Minor, Op. 120: should be Viola Sonata No. 1 in F Minor, Op. 120. Actually, Clarinet Sonata No. 1 in F Minor, Op. 120 arr. for viola. Luca Sanzó is a violist!

I'm just going on record: Brahms is my absolute favorite composer. The man was a genius (of course, he was possibly Beethoven's biggest fan so... he knew he had big shoes to fill). His music brims with exuberant joy, aching sorrow, just unbelievable. If I could listen to only one composer for the rest of my life it would be Brahms.
Absolutely concur.
I feel the same way about Mozart but Brahms is also someone I could listen to indefinitely.
"I think that Brahms is the Least of 'The 3 B's'." Vladimir Horowitz.
(If so, that still isn't too shabby - being #3 behind Bach and Beethoven.)
Yes indeed, von Bülow said the German Classical Music has 3 Genius B : Bach, Beethoven , Brahms.
Wonderful and Serene Music Forever !
These Adagios could be the soundtrack for spring. The beginning of new life and what is to come.
The greatness of Brahms is immeasurable and beyond description and off the charts
Brilliant as if brilliants' are coming to life
Brahms is ..... ..Marvellous , Beautiful ❤
The essence of spirituality. Connection to his soul directly, soul to soul. And what a soul!
Beautiful adagios
Brahms music quenches and moisturize my parched soul
You're right. These are some of the most beautiful adagios and the Piano Concerto No 1 in D minor is my favourite. Thanks BC.
My soul has been fed
Brahms má hudební průhledy do nejvyššího nebe, pro mě klavírní.

FANTASTIC MUSIC
Bravo! The collection is gorgeous, I had a wonderful afternoon with those beautiful adagios:)
Herrlich, vielen Dank ❤
I find it rendering beautiful. One can complain the pieces are carved up. As a pianist myself I love it. Don't most pianists love to play the high parts in classic music, I think they do. Having said that, ofcorse a complete part is the essence in music, but not necessarily day on day.

I just love this music,. I learnt to play Balham’s when I started learning the piano as a child. The violin here is just so beautiful and brings all sorts of emotions mainly calming ones. What a world we are in to be able to tap into these sublime sounds.
Lovely and Wonderful Music Forever !
Great idea for a compilation.
I know that I'm old-fashioned, but I sure wish this beautiful compilation was available as a CD set!
You can download it off of TH-cam
U r not old-fashioned to me although my children think of me that way also...
Cudowne!
Brahms adagios they wouldn't let me sleep... And now, you with Brahms as well you are going to sleep..😮❤❤
amazing ❤
Parabéns pela edição e montagem dessa extraordinária coleção!
Amazing
Excelente,música
Many of these melodies are ones that I can whistle while I work around the yard. Brahms Symphony 4 conducted by Bruno Walter was the second LP that I bought in 1960-ish.
MARAVILLOSO
❤❤ make me feel so happy.
Thank you! I appreciate the care taken in curating these selections, the carefully prepared track list, and especially for managing to keep the audio levels so consistent. Because I really was in the mood to listen without having to jump up and adjust volume repeatedly. For @classicallpvault8251 who complained below and confessed that this concept was beyond him/her, I was in a mood to listen to adagios while I work undistracted. Another time I will be in the mood to listen to a complete concerto or symphony. Actually the closing allegro movements were all the more invigorating after three hours of adagios and andantes.
ditto! dittop! ditto! this ain't rock & roll music...U have very educated consumers out here!
Spasiba. Da svidania. ❤
Wonderful. My fav. author. If someone is listening to this to "get relaxed" (in the last decades it seems the only possible "use" of boring classical music) well, the end is not exactly an Adagio... it starts as an Adagio but it ends in one of the most orgasmic finales I know (3:20:34 onward...)
Bello---
Thank you for listening!

На обложке альбома "'Brahms: Most Beautiful Adagios" представлена картина немецкого художника Каспара Давида Фридриха-Caspar David Friedrich под названием: "Woman before The Risting Sun ( Woman before the Setting Sun)".
Museum Folkwang. National Gallery of Norway.

Bionic Brahms! LOL . Really nice pieces!
That's Brahms! Brahm's 3rd Racket!!
WHO'S amazing painting is this? Loving all of this collection, by the way...never thought Brahms was so .....fulfilling
Hello, the artist is Caspar David Friedrich and the painting is 'Woman before the setting sun' (1818-20). He is beloved. You might also look at 'Wanderer above the sea of fog' and his other paintings, they are all very moving. Wikipedia actually has a lovely precis about his art and life. All the best.
@@LM-fn6qb thank you very much!

Brilliant Brahms! By the way, @Brilliant classics, could you tell us the name of the painting?
Thanks!

Thanks a lot but the last piece (masterpiece actually,) symphony No. 1 in C Minor, Op. 68: IV. Adagio - Più andante - Allegro non troppo ma con brio - Più allegro is not an adagio but an allegro. This is a finale ! But many thanks for this review
One small (but important) correction:
01:21:21 **Violin Sonata No. 1 in F Minor, Op. 120: II. Andante un poco adagio (Luca Sanzò & Maurizio Paciariello) (**VIOLA Sonata, not Violin)
01:21:21 Viola Sonata No. 1. II movement
I don't know if the earth went up or if the heaven came down😢
Right absolutely beautiful
The Op. 120 No. 1 Sonata is for viola not violin.
Não existem termos para definir BRAHMS.
⚜️ Algorithmen.
I bet it's Audrey Hepburn in the painting. 🙂

What went wrong over the decade is that language pack you believe me or not I can show you the content from across the planet
Why one would take these pieces out of context and sit through an entire 3.5 hours of slow movements is beyond me.
Explain “out of context “
@@nehuge The context is the multi-movement works that they were taken from. The slow movement of a symphony/sonata/chamber work takes quotes from the first movement (generally an allegro in sonata form) and develops these.
Without the sonata-allegro preceding them, you aren't presented with the thematic material that they're based on, and there is no contrast between the various movements, and a significant part of the meaning of the work is lost.
These pieces are not standalone works and even the few instances where they're not part of a multi-movement work, they're still part of a set of pieces that were meant to be played as a set. There's only one instance, the opus 119 no.1., where there's not supposed to be anything preceding it - but even there, the piece is still supposed to be followed by another one of contrasting nature.
One can compare it to sunshine being extra significant if it's preceded by a thunder storm. You appreciate fine things more if you can contrast them with something else.
Perhaps the intention of this beautiful compilation is for each individual listener who has and those who will enjoy it in their own way: while taking a bubble bath after a long day, while looking through photo albums of the kids while they were growing up, to ease the mind and bring comfort to someone recuperating, while relaxing on the couch with a warm beverage and a lap pet, a sweet retreat from the noisy and busy world to be returned to where it was last left off. Instead of being critical of its existence as a beautiful compilation and wonderful resource for each individual to enjoy in their own way, your stance could have been presented as a "could also be enjoyed......" instead of a critical "should be enjoyed...". To each their own and live and let live. For someone to think it's OK to pompously criticize a beautiful compilation for people to enjoy in their own way is beyond me.
@@classicallpvault8251 I understand your opinion, only here the goal is not art but just using art as a way to generate basic emotions and background music. This is like a "collage".
Personaly the lack of complexity through time and holism based on calm help me to read, i couldnt use a whole symphony for this purpose.
The real question is why not? I enjoy both ways but sometimes we just want adagio
