You two have me rethinking my whole retirement plan. Though I would keep my Atlanta home and rent it out for passive income.

Rob & Allie - Excellent video and breakdown of expenses. We are embarking on our retirement trips in 2024. Am wondering if you could provide the AirBnB link to the excellent accommodation you guys statyed in. That will indeed be very helpful.

Thanks again for your video. An on screen budget breakdown at the end would have been nice.

Excellent video about the costs of living in Vietnam. I had not really considered this country. The pizza also looked great, but I am on a diet. 😀

Architecture and design seems to have just gotten boring in the US. Whenever we travel abroad, we love modern architecture/design elsewhere.

    Great breakdown. Thanks.
I have to go back and watch your newer video on how you’ll be traveling 2024.
If memory serves me you've managed your stay to come out at $786 a month with the points .😮
Was that for 200 or 300 days?

You mentioned your renting for a month, however where do you both live full time? Renting or own something?

Maybe snag a bottle of Dom Perignon to wash down the pizza?

Thank you for another great video and all the details! I find your lifestyle amazing and brave. I keep thinking if me and hubby could live travelling without a "home base" if you will. I understand that with today's technology you keep in touch with your family, You mentioned you are in Vietnam for the first time. How do you choose a country, a place to live? Is there a community of expats you turn to for an advice or it's just your own research? Also do you plan your travel/living arrangements, etc a year or two ahead? Can't be just a spur of the moment, right? :)

Thanks! We have a loose idea 6 months to a year ahead, but often wait to book as Airbnb must be paid up front and is usually non refundable. So we don't book a place until we have flights.

This is a great breakdown; thank you. When you travel to an area for the first time (or subsequent trips) do you typically stay in ex-pat areas? As a solo traveler, language is always a concern for me. I speak a bit of French, a tiny bit of Spanish and Italian; enough to say please, thank you, and ask basic questions/order food.

Thanks, yes usually the first time we do, and then we look around to find other areas too once we are there.

And it’s possible you may not finish all of it that evening, so you can have it another day or two, reheated.

It's like living in The Twilight Zone. Takes effort to even spend money there. Always poor or struggling in usa

Yes, it does. We finally managed to this week at a resort, but still way less than you'd expect.

I am wondering how the immigration interview goes at the airport when you show up. I know they ask how long you are staying/where are you staying/when are you leaving. Do you already have the next plane ticket booked out of the country so you are just always staying a month ahead of the questions you are going to get asked?

Another wonderful video! We were in Ho Chi Minh City last March and also loved it but only spent a few days there as we spent the rest of the 30 day visa traveling around the country. We need to do a better job getting visas however. We felt we spent too much going through a third party vendor. Do you mind sharing how you went about getting your visas and the costs?

Vietnam has an e-visa program so it’s easy to handle it yourself! Google for the authorized consulate site.

Do you guys take American dollars with you? Do exchange them? Or do you just charge everything and let the bank do the conversions? Essentially how do you have cash? - thanks

    • @GroundedLifeRetirementTravel
      @GroundedLifeRetirementTravel  ปีที่แล้ว +3

The best thing to do is use a credit card with no international fees if possible. Then you can take out cash in the local currency from an ATM with your debit card.
