  • You asked for it, so here it is! I run through every pick-up position with both a clean and dirty tone. I hope you find this useful and don't forget to give it a thumbs up and share it if you do. All the best, Lee

    Hey Lee ! Love all of your content youre truly making this bad boy shine SO I really need your help dude!
    Specifically for the "Ibanez AZ 224F " you demoed this one beautifully and although it passed the test (- yes it sounded as good as it looked for sure ) BUT I have to know for the money how does it really compare to prestige or other Ibanez model for the features does this one kill it ? This is probably the hardest comparison to make so to speak cause unlike say sterling jp vs ebmm jp6 these have very very few differences the SOUND and FEEL appear to be equal because the roasting is only a smidge different and the hyperion pickup pairing is virtually the same ! (IM after the HSS models specifically but also considering your model the tequila burst if HH setup can perform just as well!). Is there really a huge sound difference or difference in whammy bar stability between the premium and prestige ? after all the premium is still gotoh steel does but does your whammy bar hold up with abuse? LASTLY from your end of the camera can this HH AZ model mimic strat - neck pickup tones minus the annoying 60 cycle hum even tho there are 24 frets?
    Im at that cross road because I want this model but its the one time I dont want to pay for the top shelf prestige AZ cause to me blind test with a premium like yours and I probably would not be able to spot or really feel a difference! Ive only been able to play the AZ 224F very briefly one came through my local store but there was no prestige model to shoot it out against so here I am wondering what your verdict is on this premium not so budget friendly axe. Hope to hear from you soon and im sure a bunch of others too who are struggling between choosing one haha thanks cheers!

    Hi Lee, love your vids. Can you do some demos of the Ibanez Artcore semi hollow body guitars. Everyone tells me they are Gibson 335 quality without the price tag. I can also buy a beautiful Ibanez am63 semi hollow, tobacco burst for $700, but need to travel to see and play it first. I'm sure plenty of older players would love a semi hollow. cheers.

    You're one of the only people I see playing the blue one. Which one should I get!? The blue or the burst?

  • @greekfreak1980
    @greekfreak1980 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Any infos,where you can find more details about the pickups? The Ibanez website only says they're passive alnicos by S.Duncan.Are they made by S.Duncan or just ''Duncan designed'' and what type of alnico? Alnico 5 like the JB or Custom 5 or higher output,like the Alternative 8?

    • @robertanthony9079
      @robertanthony9079 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      "The pickups, designed in collaboration with Seymour Duncan, are a moderate output pickup, sporting Alnico-5 magnets to keep the clarity of the fundamental tone while using distortion. " They are credited to SD in the specs so they are SD pickups.

    • @greekfreak1980
      @greekfreak1980 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      ''designed in collaboration with S.D.'' in other words they're far east made and not proper Duncans,like those ''designed with Ibanez'' they put on their first series of the Indonesian Premium models,couple of years ago.
      For that price,I was expecting,proper Made in USA S.Duncans.

    • @pdy666
      @pdy666 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      "designed in collaboration with S.D." sounds like the marketing department tried to make "Duncan designed" sound more impressive but nothing more. Having said that...this demo sounds great.

      If its Fender MIM is is still "Fender"? If a PRS is MIK is it still PRS? It is SD design. Apple designs products and makes them in China. It is 2018...manufacturing is global...get over it.

    • @1974zah
      @1974zah 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      They are custom wound by Duncan in USA for Ibanez, per Ibanez and Seymour Duncan. Loosely based off Pegasus and Sentient set.

    I bet working for Ibanez is a dream. .they've been my go to guitars since I got my first real guitar, Ibanez rg550 in 1990. .but the AZ models feel like a total departure from the rg family. March 5th can't get here fast enough.

      Brian, me too... been with Ibanez since 1991 or '92 when I bought a used Ibanez Roadstar Steve Lukather signature model... probably had 15 or 20 Ibanez guitars since then. Can't wait to try an AZ, but a bit discouraged because of where I live... it's just not easy for me to see the guitars in person.

    Lee, love your videos, but for some of these demos could you demonstrate a little more riffing and big chords? The leads are great, but i think They only tell part of the tonal story.

    Hey lee what's your personal favorite of all the as models including the signatures?

    • @LeeWrathe
      @LeeWrathe  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Daniel Estrellado I would say it’s my prototype , the neck is much darker than the production models (it was probably left roasting too long! Haha!). I really like the HH configured guitars, whether Prestige or Premium because that’s what I wanted when this whole AZ journey began a few years ago

    • @danielguitar5150
      @danielguitar5150 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Im intrigued by the many options in this line from the HH models - AZ2402 and the MM1 or the SSH TQM1. Not a big fan of the pick guard models, but that's just personal pref. How should one go about choosing? any advice and pointers?

    • @BoltRM

      @@LeeWrathe I too recently fell in love with the HH Ibanez with 5 way switches.
      Can someone point Daniel & I to what our options are for those in the Premium price range in addition to this one? Thanks! 😁

    Hi Lee, just wondering if the AZ comes strung with 10 gauge strings as standard, like the Talman did?

    • @ThisOldMan44
      @ThisOldMan44 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lee - I'm also hoping you can answer this question. When I go to the Ibanez site, I can find complete specs related to every measurement you can possibly think of. I can search through the parts catalog and find detailed information down to exactly what capacitor is being using in the control cavity. However, I can't seem to find the answer to the very simple question of what the standard string gauges are for these models anywhere.

    • @LeeWrathe

      Hi Guys! All the AZ’s are strung with D’Addario gauge 009-042 as standard 😊

      I just got my AZ2402 and was expecting 9-42 like most Ibanez guitars I've had before but it came with 10-46 (I even checked with a micrometer).

    can anyone tell me what kind of playing style it is in the first part with the clean tones? I want to find material to practice this style of finger picking with lots of sliding along the frets...if I'm making any sense at all...thanks in advance guys. Appreciate it!

    • @cubesandpi

      Something similar to the styles of SRV, Hendrix, or Mayer would have lots of this sliding

    Stellar playing! I just wish Ibanez would stop with these cheap woods already and make a decent instrument... These guitars aren't exactly cheap but sound thin and plasticky IMO. Nevertheless, once you give it to a great guitarist like yourself, it makes it better :)
