You could’ve gotten the same result using wayyyyyy less! You first clean, let dry, the you apply the renovator, brush let dry, now you apply shoe cream, brush let dry, then shoe polish (with the corresponding color), brush let dry, then a very light wax all around (one coat) then multiple layers of wax and water drops to mirror shine the toe / heel. There’s plenty of videos on TH-cam on this, and Dough as a men with Rolex and Omega you only should buy Good Year welted stitched shoes / boots because you can re-do the sole and generally they are of higher quality such brands as: Crocket and Jones, Carmina Shoe Maker, TLB Majorca, Meccariello, Allen Edmonds, RM Williams, Saint Crispins, Gaziano & Girling, George Cleverly, John Lobb and Ferragamo Tramezza. They’ll even make made to measure to your exact foot shape and size.

Hey Frank, thank you for the advice. To be honest (and I’m sure it’s totally apparent 😁) I’m just starting into the higher end shoe/boot journey. Interestingly, my next pair will probably be Carmina.

Blake stich and stich down construction are both rebuildable. And plenty of high-quality shoes and boots are built using them. Goodyear is good, but not the only.

@@tucobakunin8250 Blake stitch can be re-stitched once or twice but more than that the cobbler would have to make new holes, goodyear welt in the other hand goes exactly over the previous holes and it gives the shoe more longevity.

@frankv7068 I have a pair of Blake stitch Allen Edmonds I've had for over fifteen years. Haven't had them resoled yet. If I only get two resoles, that's only 45 years of use. I got screwed. I should have got a pair of 'real' shoes with a Goodyear construction. Oh well, live and learn. Thanks. I won't make that mistake again! I'll know better next time. Kinda like the other guy in the TH-cam comments who convinced me that without a full tang, a knife isn't a 'real' knife. I can't tell you how many completely useless, non-knives I had been using (without any problems) for years. But eventually, somebody more knowledgeable explained to me that they couldn't do what I had been using them to do for decades. So I quit using them. Because I'm not the dummy who won't listen to the experts in TH-cam comments. Thank you.

@@tucobakunin8250 goodyear welt is not only for re-stitching purposes, it has extra layers of cork and patting that molds to your feet the more you wear em, it’s better for water protection for cities like NYC where you have to walk in all elements I could go on and on, I own blake stitch, only advantage is the slim aesthetics, I can’t really name any other. That’s why why the better the brand the less blake stitch they offer if any 🤷🏻‍♂️, and a pair that last you 15 years I would tear them up and way less time than that since I regularly wear my pairs.

Beckett Simonon is OK but you truly get what you pay for here, and they are blake stitched. You will need some cedar shoe trees too. Check out the Allen Edmonds Dalton boots or fifth Avenue shoes for starters, and go higher up the ladder if you want. You will end up using the Becket Simonon when gardening or washing the cars... Trust me :)

The BSs are pretty nice. But I agree, there are some really nice shoes/boot makers out there that I need to experience. I believe next will be Carmina.
