Suggestion, add a rainbow circular swirl all day sucker on the Life Is Sweet quote. That would be so cute! 🍭 I'm with you on moving the book buddies up for display. You could always pick up a few stuffed toys at garage sales/thrift stores for "reading buddies'. The book buddies are so cute they need their own display plus they'll last longer out of reach. For the toolbox, tacking on a piece of poster board on the back might help keep the drawers from sliding out the back.
I think I say this in every comment but I am obsessed with how your classroom is coming along! It is making me want to get into my new classroom and get started so bad but I can't yet, ugh... Until then, I'll just live vicariously through you, so thanks!!
The easel is where I'd put it too. I don't think you need to wrap the desk. I do love the idea of an all-day rainbow sucker up by the life is sweet...quote. Brilliant idea. Your room is so cute. It's my favorite!! Good job, Lauren!!
I’m moving to China and will have my own classroom at an American international school teaching kindergarten, I’m still stuck in another country due to Covid and can’t start setting up my classroom until 1 week before the kids come in. Watching your videos makes me able to brain storm about what I will have to buy and prepare. It’s so hard planning without physically being in the classroom. 🌹 and most videos on TH-cam are from a few years ago so I’m looking forward to watch your videos!
If you double up the curtains on the tension rods and give them a little gathered look the length won't be as noticeable....They look just fine the way the are....but, this is a little suggestion if the length bothers you at all....also, a little gather is always a happy cheerful look...bonus points!! I love your videos and your classroom!!!
It looks so good! That quote wall pulls it all together for sure. I use my teacher toolbox all 👏 the 👏 time 👏 too so I would put it on the counter and move the globe elsewhere. I agree there’s a lot going on with the easel, GORGeous chair, and big book storage unit. Maybe just do a banner or something across the front of your teacher desk and move one of those pieces of furniture to another area. I can’t get into my room yet so I’m living vicariously through you! 😄
You can use binder clips for the mailbox. Put a sticky label on the front of the binder clip and then clip the binder clip onto the individual slots of the mailbox. Just a thought! Your way is excellent as well. Thank you for sharing!!
What a beautiful classroom!! I love following your set-up vlogs. 🌈Teddy is such a cutie, he reminds me of the dog 'Sprocket' from Fraggle Rock! Hope he gets to be his own TickTock star at Daycare!
I love your sign!!! It is soooo colorful and so you!! I love seeing you get soooo excited over your classroom - so refreshing…. I can’t wait to see you put together your library and cube area!!!!! 👏👏👏👏😍
I'm a retired kindergarten teacher and you enthusiasm for decorating your room bings back special memories for me. (I am sure most primary teacher are equally excited to set up a warm welcoming environment.) Your classroom looks beautiful. The only concern I see about the placement of the easel is that it blocks the white board, which may limit your ability to write on it. I am sure you will love your interactive board. I had a Promethean Board, which was more sophisticated than a Smart Board. It was a game changer! I was able to create interactive activities, as well as connect to their Hub and download practice games, etc. It was also a great way to share TH-cam videos and songs. Jack Hartman has a song/video for every letter of the alphabet, phonics skills, etc. I am sure that if they are replacing what is already there, it will be state of the arts. It is also great because the reading and math curriculum usually have an interactive component and you can also pull up their workbook pages, etc. Have a wonderful school year. Enjoy your Kinder babies!
I love how your room is turning out so adorable! I do think the chair, Easel and area look crowded in that corner. But I loved using mine for groups as well so I understand the need, it just looks like there is to much over there. Everything else looks great!
If there’s room on the other side by where you’re moving your calendar, that might work. I have mine by my calendar and it holds the other months, numbers (I add each number each day), etc.
Sorry if anyone has mentioned this as I wasn’t able to read all the comments, but if the curtain length bothers you still, they make a no-sew hemming glue that you can find at JoAnn’s or Amazon that makes it super quick and easy to take things up just a bit (make a line with the glue, fold fabric evenly and dry…ta-da hemmed to perfection)
Your room is looking awesome. I've been in my room at work for 9 years and this summer I set my room up in a way I never have before and I fell in love with my room all over again. It's so energizing. Oh and the target dollar spot was pretty disappointing this year for teacher back to school. They didn't have nearly the items they've had in years past. I even been checking out the TH-cam videos on target hauls thinking maybe it was the targets around me but I really didn't see borders or signs or any of the cute decorations they've had before. Anyway loving the room setup videos and the cameos of Teddy. He's so cute.
My fob didn't start working until weeks into the school year 🤣🤦♀️ I had it, but it was not activating, and it was so frustrating lol. So happy yours worked right away! Loving your videos ❤️
I'm so enjoying the way your classroom is turning out! You give so much attention to detail and function. (I think the word you were thinking of to "corner" the quote border is "miter".) :)
Your classroom looks so clean and fresh! Looks great. Just thought I’d give a heads up, I had the IKEA chairs for grade 1 and my kiddos would wiggle and move on the chairs which would loosen the screws so you might want to keep a screw driver to tighten them from time to time 🙂
So I’ve heard! Better than the snapping leg stories I heard about the others I had before though. I keep a little set of tools in the room - and I’ll be on the lookout.
Watching this today. Today will be my last day of setup (our school is closed on Fridays) and I start BT orientation next week so won't really have time. I wanted to make a TH-cam video but I'm posting on Instagram instead 🙃 but today's goal is library and some final touches, although I still need some more posters for bulletin boards for math and ELA.
I'm obsessed with how adorable your room is turning out!! Question: Do you still plan on making the dramatic play station for your classroom? Thanks for sharing your journey. I can't wait until the next one :)
I do! But would need my husband’s drill which is in our POD until we move into our house August 4th. Won’t be able to build it before then, so I have time to think about where it could go. 🤔
@@puttingthemfirst love this! I am hoping to make one too but can't even get into =my classroom until the first week of August, so I have to wait as well.
Hmm - it’d probably look better. But that placement is not a match for my teaching style I don’t think! I’m always using the easel during whole group carpet time, making anchor charts, giving examples, etc. We’ll see - having the SmartBoard available might change that!
Your room is looking awesome! You could use your Cricut to cut some vinyl polka dots to put on the front of your desk to dress it up a bit without wrapping the whole thing. I have the same teacher toolbox, but I upgraded to a clear 16 drawer one from TJMaxx because I hated that I couldn't fit pens and pencils in my drawers. Not sure how I feel about the drawers being clear though...lol.
Love the ikea stools. Just wondering if you still gonna use ur crate seats you made back on your first year ? I finally made some And was wondering how yours held up
Love all your videos!! Love your classroom! Decorations are adorable!!! Your students aren’t going to want to leave! Where are you going to put your word wall and sound wall?? Can’t wait to see the final reveal!
You could put some of those school girl style flowers (copied bigger of course) in front of the black words that say, “Life is sweet”. Love your classroom and vlog.
I have used Promethian and Smart Boards and we now have what I think are like Smart TVs...instead of a projection ONTO a board, the board itself IS a computer. I have never tried a Mimeo, but it sounds like they are a cheaper alternative for the traditional Smart Board. Sounds like the pens may be difficult for little ones to use, but I rarely have even my high school students use them--so not much loss there, I think. I do recommend che king out interactive game boards on PowerPoint. There are some fun Bubblepop ones that might work well with your kindies! I have a Masters in Ed Technology, so if you ever need help, know you have some classroom tech folks among your viewers. 😊
Omg I will now just address you directly in my vlogs LOL “Amanda if you’re watching this….” 😂 But on a more serious note, thank you for explaining!! I’ve been told I’ll get thorough training for whatever fancy board I end up with, so I’m hoping I’ll feel a bit more confident soon.
Thank you! It's so bright and happy so far 🤩 Only the "boards" I make on the cinderblock are better than paper (I hot glue it to the wall). I use fadeless paper for the actual bulletin boards.
Yay! New video. Where are the tension rods and curtains from? Can you link them please? I have windows in my classroom and I’ve been looking for those.
The room is looking great! Just a thought that your library/book corner is looking abit tight and small. Trying to imagine it with lots of kiddos squeezing in
@@puttingthemfirst like the walls? I was thinking of the black of the easel and black polka dots on the paper 😂 I tend to put black on everything so maybe don't ask me lol

I have been teaching kinders for 25 years and have gotten so many mew ideas from you. I love your videos and your enthusiasm. Welcome to Illinois.
I wrapped my toolbox in Saran Wrap! Prevented drawers from moving and didn’t mess up the paint :)
Why didn’t I think of that!! Lol will remember this for the next move. 😅
Saran wrap is genius. I used painter's tape and it kinda worked.
I did this too! Still had some brads that jumped all over BUT it kept all the drawers in!

Hey Lauren! Where did you get your pocket charts that are on the pencil bulletin board? Room is looking SUPER cute!
Target! In the bullseye playground (formerly the “dollar spot”) so they aren’t available online. Thank you!!
1 part Downy and 2 parts water in a spray bottle, makes you own wrinkle release.
