Welcome to Dekalb! I lived there for many years and it's a great place. :) What I loved about it was that were so many things to do. The Corn Fest and Pumpkin Festival are two big things they have there. Also, Ollie's has really great frozen custard if you haven't tried it yet. If you like Mexican food, a few years ago I went to Taxco restaurant in downtown Sycamore with my family. The food was really good there. Also check out the Egyptian Theatre in downtown Dekalb and the Ellwood House. Both are great to see.
DeKalb was a booming montropolis compared to where you lived in MA? 😂😂😂😂 Haven’t been there in a few years, but I remember it’s kind of a cute college town. Be careful with all the speed traps by NIU!!

I noticed the hair color change. I love the summer kissed by the sun color. I'm with you I love miniatures. I work with someone who has a miniature croc shoe on her key chain. It's really cute. Had to laugh you are now two states away from me in Ohio. We share the same weather pattern I'm just get it a few hours later. It's suppose to rain here all week too. Just found your videos because I've been watching teacher videos and didn't realize until this one came up that you're in the suburbs outside of the city where I live. (Chicago) Small world, I think I know Loki's owner unless there are multiple husky's named Loki in the area. lol.

I think it’s amazing that you have experience on either side of Kindergarten because you are familiar with the level they’ll be at coming in, and where they need to be when headed to first grade. What an asset for your kids! Excited and nervous just about sums it up for me too - trying to rest and relax to prepare.
I am not! I wasn't in MA either and I got used to the commute. I think I'd miss the quiet time to set the tone each morning, and wind down in the afternoon.

I know it’s expensive and a lot of work to do every 5 years to keep it current. Luckily I only have 2 more renewals before I retire. Good luck on your new adventure. I’m sure you’ll do great.
