He also falsely claims Christians don't have a death cult. They certainly do. Tons of evangelical Christians support Israel mainly because they think Israel's success will result in the apocalypse.

They just needed a flimsy excuse to bomb Palestinian people so that it can be justified to the world because Israel relies heavily on US support the day the veil is lifted over the american public, that day Israel will lose all military support to wage this expensive war. Sam please more video interviews. You have such an important voice on issues such as this and politics. With people like Tucker Carlson as the second most listened to podcast, it drives me crazy that yours and other more thoughtful content isn’t more broadly known. You should be crushing these guys (i know numbers aren’t your primary objective, but still). Video content is more consumable in my opinion. Anyways, great work as always.
I completely agree that we need more thoughtful content out there, especially in this landscape where platforms like Tucker Carlson's are reaching massive audiences with oversimplified or sometimes misleading narratives. Sam’s work, rooted in reason, logic, and a genuine attempt to explore complex issues, deserves to be more widely seen, especially in contrast to the more sensationalist voices dominating the conversation.
@@misterwallace3479 Your attempt to dismiss a call for more thoughtful discourse with a simplistic reference to COVID doesn't hold water. First, "you people" is a vague generalization that contributes nothing meaningful to the conversation. If you're suggesting that valuing critical thinking and evidence-based reasoning makes someone easily influenced, I'd argue you've missed the point entirely. The aim isn't to follow popular opinions blindly, it's to challenge them using facts and reason. As for COVID, if you're referring to how public health measures were debated, then yes, it’s an excellent example of why thoughtful, science-based dialogue is essential. Disinformation led to confusion, preventable deaths, and prolonged suffering. Being informed by actual data, instead of viral soundbites, would have saved lives. This conversation isn’t about being "influenced", it's about cutting through noise, conspiracy theories, and knee-jerk reactions. It’s about engaging with ideas critically, something I encourage you to try.
@@misterwallace3479 "He's a differential differentiator"? That phrase sounds like it’s trying to be clever but ultimately says nothing. Sam Harris doesn’t just play on the surface of complex topics, he dives in, examining every angle, which is exactly why his content resonates with those looking for substance. Dismissing that as mere "differentiation" without offering any real critique suggests you're not engaging with his arguments but just throwing out empty words. I suggest listening a little closer next time.

What's interesting about Hitchens is that he's on record as saying Zionism is a bad idea, the taking of land from the Palestinians. Not that I'm on that side myself, but it's interesting. Hitchens himself was part jewish (I believe) and he always defended the jews and yet he is indeed on record as saying that about zionism Otherwise I'm sure he'd be much like Sam in decrying religious extremism which is a very old, familiar story
@@alex-internetlubber Agreed, he was impressively objective. I don't think that's a difference with Sam if you parse out the details. Hitchens was against the original idea and implementation, but he certainly wouldn't have wished Israel to disappear in the modern day. Same with Sam, if you press him on it, he would say that no, it wasn't moral to push many Palestinians off land they inhabited, yet he would prefer to protect the current state as it is. The weird stuff that Sam puts me off with is saying there's effectively no difference anymore between anti-Zionism and anti-Semitism. To me, it's a wonky take on the situation because "Zionism" is something I both agree and disagree with. I disagree with what was done to carve out the settlements. But now that a thriving state has been established for a century, I'd prefer it to remain. As an atheist and non-Jew maybe I'm a less biased source to say there's a level of practicality here. Israel is stable, modern, non-draconian, has an educated population, women have rights, technologically advanced, and they're a strong strategic ally. One doesn't need to blush when admitting these things make Israel superior to its neighbors.
@@russellhammond371 The thing where anti-Zionism severely differs from anti-semitism is - to me at least - that Zionism isn't held back by any comittment to a two state solution or agreed upon borders for it. Israel is a state with defined borders by international law. If someones zionism essentially means 'patriotism for that state' I have no problem with that. And I think being against it is at least close to anti-semitism. But if that Zionism leads to expressions we have heard from high government officials in Israel about expanding those borders. Be it the Gaza strip or the West Bank, then standing against that Zionism is simply upholding internationaly recognized treaties. I really don't make that claim often, but I'm fairly certain Hitchens opinion would at least be close to that. Regarding your last paragraph I want to make one correction/addition: Israel IS draconian. Just not within Israel. The treatment of palestinians in the west bank is horrible and draconian. The settlement actions there could have been stopped by Israel at any point. Israel chooses not to do that. Contrary to the Gaza Strip the West Bank could also already have a proper functioning government. Israel chooses not to let that happen, because it would mean not being able to colonize the are. It chooses to set up draconian measures there, it chooses to set up a level of segregation there. Historically speaking, judging Israel only by how it treats it's own people does not give the full picture. Israel to me very clearly has two sides. It can be a shining beacon of secular democracy within a region that desperatley needs it, but as much as I wish that that was the only view, one has to consider the West Bank.
The endless refrain that 'war cannot solve Israel's problems' is correct, but skates right by the important truth. War is not sufficient to solve Israel's problems, but it is necessary for Israel to survive to even begin to solve its problems. Israel cannot survive without winning the wars that are thrust upon it. Israel would already be gone if it had lost any of the many wars that have already been thrust upon it. Admonishing Israel that they cannot defeat jihadism with bombs and tanks is a completely unserious point, and one that nobody knows better than Israelis themselves. Nevertheless, without deploying bombs and tanks against their enemies when their enemies attack them, Israel would already be gone, and it would be gone within weeks if it ever stopped resorting to bombs and tanks when necessary. If Israel ever did as its harshest critics wanted and simply declined to respond to violence with violence, and instead responded only with moral condemnation and throwing itself upon the mercy of its enemies, and the international community to join them in condemning its enemies, well its enemies would gleefully proceed with the genocidal massacre they have wanted since at least 1947, and Israel would be wiped out forthwith. The international community has not shown it is particularly serious about protecting Israel's right to exist, or the rights of Israeli Jews to continue to be alive, and I suspect that apart from the US and maybe a handful of others, nobody would lift a finger to save Israel even as it was invaded and destroyed.
Yeah, I never understood people who are so naive to think that everyone in the world operates on the golden rule. Unfortunately, no... they don't... I don't doubt that even the most horrid situations aren't always entirely one-sided, but there are sadly some people or organizations of people out there who absolutely view the world in terms of strength and weakness, and consequently what they can get away with taking and what they can't. The golden rule doesn't even work on some of our own family members, why on earth would someone assume it works across all cultures or nation states!?
But the fact that Israel has the right to protect itself doesn't legitimize their bombs on the palestine public. The way Israel fights the war is immoral too.
Tldr, trust me the Christians will back the jews over the muslims. It would be awesome if each group would police their own nuts and prevent the killing.

This is one factor , however: 1. They are not poor naturally, they are poor because they want to be poor. They ( Palestinians as a whole) 2. Don't think you're going to get Sam to answer here, so i'll chime in. Sam would say that yes, most people in Gaza are not as radical as Hamas, but they still hold views that the secular people would find barbaric. Take being gay for example, most people in Gaza would not have a problem with gay people being stoned or put to death, so it's not just sentimental.
only a small percentage act upon these violent ideas. but they support those who do. now do the math on one percent of 1.6 billion, if we use one percent as a possible number. do you feel safe?
After October 7th 3/4 of Palestinian Arabs polled by Reuters backed October 7th’s massacre. So your angle is incorrect. After all, they voted in Hamas in Gaza in 2005-2006.
We in the west may not be able to easily understand or identify the gradients between extremist support and violent action, as we just don't see examples in our society and haven't done for a long time. There seems to be a huge majority of general support towards the destruction of Israel and any and all Jews regardless of what or how it is actioned.
Sam keeps bringing up the jihadist ideology as explanation for everything happening. While there is some truth in his conclusions in reality this is a small part of the reasons for the current disaster in Gaza. The reality is that the status quo couldn’t continue any longer. A 2 state solution is the only way forward. Unfortunately the current Israeli government is not willing even to talk about this possibility.
Sam did not mention that the Israeli government rejects the two-state solution and still continues to settle the West Bank. The blame is frankly on the Europeans who killed the Jews and displaced them, and the Zionists did the same thing to the Palestinians, killing, displacing and raping them. Israel literally defeated the Arabs a lot, that is why they exist.
Sam has been intellectually lazy for 2 decades now on middle eastern affairs. He continuously sees everything through the lense of Jihad, and every new monolog he puts out just reiterates "Jihad is bad" in some pithy new way. It's so tiresome. Grappling with the middle east takes a DEEP dive into the history up to current day of the entire region, as well as the west's incessant meddling. Sam grapples with literally none of that every time he talks about the middle east, or any geo-political issue around the world.
@@atlehman69 His argument, which uses Jihad to explain the crisis, still holds. What counter-argument would refute it? I get your point that he doesn’t enter the territory of challenging Israel’s right to exist, but most people agree that the dissolution of Israel as a state isn’t a realistic outcome. The only viable solution involves Jews and Muslims coexisting peacefully. Secularism often frustrates those outside the West, but I don’t see a better alternative either. This was after "Where the Olive Trees Weep" as well. My heart goes out to the truly innocent. It really does. So then when i engage with people on the topic, i would lead with exactly those numbers and no one had the ability to just say, "(Exactly what YOU said to start this podcast)" Which made me so much less open to what they said. After doing a deep dive and putting the numbers of the situation aside - it is clear that the Palestinian leadership SUCKS and that in reality they have had many opportunities to stop the nonsense but choose not to. Look at the attack in Jordan and look at all the neighbors not allowing refugees. Either way; acknowledging the human cost is essential to a trusted argument. Thank you.
This is one of the best discussions about the reality of this conflict. There is so much ignorant horseshit being thrown around (and plenty of indifference). The people that want to shame others for speaking harsh, uncomfortable truths need to be silent now. The core statement IMO was, "...if Hamas/Palestine/Hezbollah would lay down their weapons and choose non-violence, there would be a two-state solution. If the Israeli's lay down their weapons, there would be genocide..." That's the core difference.
The problem is, that the arab leaders DONT WANT a 2 state solution; they want it ALL. Same goes for the slimy western sycophants protesting about 'river and sea', they're too spineless to actually admit their true intentions.
Israel doesn't want two-state otherwise they would expand settlement on land that is supposed to be part of a Palestinian state. Plo and now Hamas was born out of Israel's occupation. And suppression of the Palestinian people. If Israel laid down their weapons there would be a Palestinian state and no genocide. Similar to South Africa when the whites gave up power to form a democratic state with the natives black population.
If you find that line to be convincing, it can only be due to ignorance of the history of the two state solution. Israel has never wanted the two state solution and they have done everything in their power to block it. The history since 1967, almost sixty years, is clear evidence of not wanting two states. Everyone agrees that it would have brought peace to the region but Israel did not want that. They wanted to consistently expand the borders of Israel, so the two state solution was never a viable option. Sam is an impressive intellectual, but he doesn't know anything about this conflict.
I'm Israeli. Although this piece is pleasant to my Israeli ears, I'm skeptical of the assumption that "if only the Palestinian would've played down their weapons, there would be peace". In the past few years, there has been a growing frustration in the Palestinians' side because the Palestinian issue was off the world's agenda, despite the relative low violence. On the other hand, Israel continued provocations in the west bank and Jerusalem, rejected serious peace talks and avoided even addressing the issue. The Palestinian issue wasn't even mentioned for several elections, and it became a consensus that the "peace process" is dead. In this aspect alone, there was logic in Oct 7. A twisted, satanic logic, but a foreseeing strategic one. It was meant for ending the prosperity and security of Israel, create a public outrage in Arab states to take actions against Israel and in the long run, create a strong coalition against it, and weaken it from within. The West should have taken a higher price of Israel over its actions in the west bank and the refusal to negotiate a Palestinian state. The message that only diplomacy could bring results, and violence has consequences would've echoed better on both sides. Same goes with Hammas's Gaza and Iran. Gazan's were supposed to envy the success of the moderates in the west bank, but the contrary happened. The west bank was humiliated over and over, whereas the Gazans were perceived as standing up and guarding their honor.
There is no israel with a two state solution. Amazing there are still people like you. 1967 borders are impossible to defend long term. What we see now are the results of the attempt to give them autonomy.
dont let them trick u, they have been occupying holy jewish lands for 1400 years, they want israels downfall, that why they are jihadis, that what they do

‘A Palestinian child is blameless,’ says Harris. I assume Harris refers to young children. The UN defines anyone under 18 as a child. Since the "Gaza Ministry of Health" does not distinguish between civilians and combatants, a 17-year-old involved in hostilities is a 'child'

The narrative seems to be that the Jews took their land (which they call the "Nakba"), so any amount of violence is justified to get the land back. This narrative emerged again and again in videos I watched of Palestinians being interviewed. When asked where the Jews should go if the land was taken back, they just said that they wanted them gone, back to Europe, back to wherever, but just gone. They sure were not wanting a two-state solution.
@@hallabsuha Doesn't matter when it started. It's been clear that one side has been willing to come to the table to try and find a peaceful resolution and the other hell bent on destruction.
How about 750000 Palestinian civilians expelled from their homes after 1948??? 300000 of them ended up in Gaza. A core idea of zionism is that Great Israel is a land ONLY for Jews. Far right Israeli government never wanted a two-state solution! Never! Zionists call expulsion of Palestinians "transferring". And they successfully "transfer" them from West Bank. It is ethnic cleansing, Israel became apartheid state. Just listen to what orthodox Jews saying about palestinians: it is pure hatred. And settlement movement is pure evil. On 27 June 2024, Canada imposed sanctions on the Amana movement "for their role in facilitating, supporting or financially contributing to acts of violence ... against Palestinian civilians and their property".
Yea it stared on 10/7 when 3,000 Palestinians choose to commit massacre against Israel and kidnapped 300 . But I guess you are refuting to the Muslim hate violence obsession against jews -well that started when Israel was created . So I guess you are correct . ❤
John Walker Lindh did not kill any Americans. He was captured in 2001 while fighting for the Taliban in Afghanistan and was later charged with supporting a terrorist organization, not with murder. Although he was present during a prison uprising that resulted in the death of CIA officer Johnny Spann, there is no evidence linking him directly to Spann's death or to any American killings. Lindh ultimately pleaded guilty to lesser charges and served 17 years in prison.
If sam thinks it's an issue with the ideology. Is it the Islamic death cult ideology? Islamic ideology exists all over the world and you don't see the barbarism done by Hamas anywhere in the world. So it has to be an ideology that is uniquely adopted by the Palestinian. Was there any leader or scholars that develop this uniquely Islamic death cult antisemitic? Or could it be that the people in Palestine were uniquely subjected to injustices that were so extreme that any rational human would act against with barbarically. For example the injustices done by Hamas were so extreme on Oct 7th that Israel started killing women, raping men, shooting kids in the head, burning patients. What is Israeli barbarian ideology rooted in?
I live in Thailand. Muslims from Malaysia crossing the border all of the time committing senseless violence. Look around Asia, also issues in Philippines, Pakistan, etc.
Harris is not well-read enough on the topic to debate Finkelstein. Finkelstein, is also not a great debater. He gets too hysterical, throws around personal insults etc.
As a person who was raised by Christian parents and now is a agnostic....I greatly admire the Jewish way of thinking. They deserve their own homeland where they originaated. Israel.
The Palestinians refused liberal israeli offers around 2000, instead increased terror and out of frustration Israelis elected Netanyahu. That's the chain of events. 20 years ago I was for the two state solution, but now that idea is more dead than Muhammad
Yes, Netenyahu is a radical, but there is a reason his radicalism exists. Netanyahu represents the fears of Israelis. The idea that there should be no two state solution would not exist if it were not for the seeming endless hostility towards Israel. Many believe that giving Palestinians, who are wedded to Israel's destruction, their own state would just be 'giving them a bigger gun'.
It's not just Netanyahu. After October 7th the vast majority of Israelis don't want the Palestinians to have a state. We gave them one in 2005 and look what they did with it. Not till their culture is fully dejihadified and denazified will they ever have a state now.
Im a big fan of Sam and have absolutely no time for Islam or any other religion. However I really struggle to reconcile his views this topic. He is coming into this with a pre set mind and not looking at the situation objectively. By his logic he probably blames the rohingya for what's happening in Myanmar as well.
Actually whilst the killing of the Rohingya by the burmese military was appalling and wrong, the Rohingya themselves carried out many despicable actions of killing, rape etc against Burmese and Hindus in the Rakkhine state over many years. Burmese people, aside from their vile government are the gentlest most peace loving people out and have no problems with their non Rohingya Muslim population. And yes the massacre of the Rohingya should not have happened but also understand that the military have been fighting wars against pretty much all the ethnic groups in Myanmar for decades ..from the Chin, Shan, Mons etc etc…..it received no international news or interest …..that only happens it seems when Muslims are involved. The number one principle for most Burmese people is no deliberate killing …of human, animal or anything …it’s the foundation of their Buddhist religion.
@theinngu5560 nice deflection, you said it shouldnt have happened then try and justify it. When it's looks and smells like apartheid it might just be apartheid, when you treat people like dogs they might just do dog acts . I lived and worked for an NGO in Myanmar for 5 years and saw the way the rohingyas were treated first hand. Also as much as love my burmese friends I would seriously question how gentle the local population were towards the rohingya.
Love the discussion. Such an important perspective to simmer down the situation. Right now we have no one talking sense anymore and all groups are too polarized.
Harris: "Any negotiation with Hamas is just them buying time for the genocide they are going to try to commit when they're strong enough to try to commit it". Senor: "And they don't even pretend. Khaled Mashal, who's one of the two leaders, or was one of the two leaders of Hamas internationally, was interviewed soon after October 7 by one of the Arab satellite channel journalists and she asked him: "What's the solution, is there a way, could they give you something where you would say 'OK, we have a state, we're done?', and he said, 'One state, a caliphate, not just from the river to the sea, so not just from east to west, but from Rosh HaNikra down to Eilat, meaning from the north to the south, meaning, 'It's all ours'.

Policed as second class citizens in their own land ? while Israel keep pushing the natives Palestinians off their land to build new Jewish hoods in the west bank ? Something clearly illegal under international laws, but nobody bring their voices up. Many Palestinians prisoners where sexually abused in prison before Oct 7th with sticks and things like that. Something Israel continued to do after Oct 7th. The frustration was obviously building up. Why do you think they did that ? Because nobody was listening to the ongoing oppression and the ongoing stealing of their land.
In India we too lived in desperate situation under British, but we choose peaceful protest aka Gandhi. So desperation doesn't mean violence. Violence is vile its evil
It is so easy to reduce everything in simple terms but that omits many fold of complexities of reality. We killed the man who lead the path of non violence. Does that refute all your claims? I don’t think so. We had Bhagat sing, Subhash Chandra Bose and many more who decided to fight with weapons and different ideology. Let not compare everything around the world in simple terms because it’s not. We should always look deeper histories and more perspectives from all the sides including hamas to tell what is right and what is wrong. Unfortunately this will never be done as truth not always aligns with power and other ideologies.
Imagine having to cross harmless little checkpoints and not having your own state in your own country, humiliating you so much that you become violent? Here you have someone in profound denial, active denial, whereby simply looking at the truth of something, would shatter his sense of self into little pieces. Been there.

I'm an Iranian atheist,Sam Harris is disappointingly idiot in this discussion Jihadist people are not individual monsters, they are just idiot and some times used heroes! They do it for imaginary honour not for imaginary after life sex
And why do Palestinians not have their own state? Because their identity was not built to co-exist with Israel, but to destroy it. That in turn breeds harsh policies from Israel which makes things worse. Peace will never be achieved until Palestinians change.
Thank you Sam! I agree with you. The one big problem I see is that there is no movement or effort from the so called liberal or secular muslims which is big enough to shift the conversation about transformation from within. Is it because they at the end of the day choose their religion over that goal, or are they afraid? This change has to start with them I think, but when observing the rethoric from even these figures, the criticisms of Islamist ideology is basically none existent at the moment.
LOVE is the ultimate force that transcends all barriers. Throughout history, those who have sown seeds of hatred and violence have inevitably met their own doom & demise. Destructive ideologies (like Jihadism) that fuel such barbaric behavior will ultimately vanish, as humanity continues to evolve and embrace the power of love and compassion. Hatred has no place on earth!!!
There are a group of people living in a very small land who are bombed, whose children are killed, who just want to live in their ancestral home but are surrounded and attacked at every possible opportunity, whose young people gather to enjoy themselves and are set upon and killed. Many of them argue that it should be no surprise that in time they will feel they have to fight with all their might and strength to protect themselves and be allowed to live in their own land without facing attack. Are those people Israelis or Palestinians?
America have always been pro Israel. Some administrations might not like the far right leadership there. I don't think we need leaders that support Israel as much as we need leaders that won't compromise on supporting all genuine democratic nations over those rules by terrorism and dictator. The UN and other international bodies are being manipulated by players that shouldn't even have the right to an equal voice based on their own lack of human rights and horrendous actions.

@@misterwallace3479 Your attempt to dismiss a call for more thoughtful discourse with a simplistic reference to COVID doesn't hold water.

@@misterwallace3479 "He's a differential differentiator"? That phrase sounds like it’s trying to be clever but ultimately says nothing. The Hitch was well aware of the Israel propaganda running amock in the western world.

Hitchens himself was part jewish (I believe) and he always defended the jews and yet he is indeed on record as saying that about zionism
Otherwise I'm sure he'd be much like Sam in decrying religious extremism which is a very old, familiar story
@@alex-internetlubber
Agreed, he was impressively objective.
Miss Hitch very much.
It's so nice to listen to intelligent people. Thank you.

On Sam's last point in this video about being duped into tolerating other's religious intolerance... Sure enough, after being admitted in the name of tolerance... it wasn't long before the bleeding heart faux-compassionate organizers were the ones on the menu.

They talked at length, shared personal information, and learned the names of their families. The hostage asked him at one point how he could be part of such a violent group. She told him of what happened to her, horrific things she saw, etc. His response was for him and many others, it was just a job, the money enabled him to provide for his family, and it was that simple. Sam, in response to your first answer, isn’t the counter-argument that most Palestinians don’t share as radical views as Hamas, or, even to the extent that they do, it’s in sentiment only, and not something they would ever act out the way Hamas does?
What if most of them do support terrorism?
Awesome analysis ,hope there are more thinkers like Sam Harris, our world needs them
Sam keeps bringing up the jihadist ideology as explanation for everything happening.
True peace requires mutual tolerance, which is nearly impossible when children are raised with intolerance or outright hatred from birth.
@@zulweni1 Jihad is in fact bad. Jihad does have some influence over the events of history and current events. But there is so much more to the story, it's truly damning to his argument just how one dimensional it always is in the face of so many on-the-ground facts.

Where my dissolution with Sam finally came to a head is in the face of this egregious onslaught Israel is waging on the utterly powerless people of Palistine, he is STILL droning on about "Jihad bad"... he can't be bothered to update his arguments, or grapple with the litany of damning facts about Israel through this horror show.
The final straw was laid for me when I saw him flippantly cheering for IsrEl to rush into Rafah and essentially "finish the damn thing", utterly callous to the fact that a military campaign like that would have killed tens of thousands more women and children, most of whome were already starved and desperate refugees.
It's reminiscent of Sam in the height of America's illegal and offensive war in Iraq, making a philosophical case in defense of torture, while knowing full well that the US was actively torturing numorous innocent Iraqies.

What I find especially disturbing is that many Palestinian civilians support what Hamas did on October 7.

It's called pseudo intellectualism, he is a fine practitioner of it.

Netanyahu has been clear since the 70s that he never wanted a 2 state solution. Why does Sam suggest it would be done if the Palestinians wanted it?
In some of his previous podcasts where he gets into details he has clarified such points that Netanyahu isn't legit and should go
The Palestinians refused liberal israeli offers around 2000, instead increased terror and out of frustration Israelis elected Netanyahu.

Imagine having to cross harmless little checkpoints and not having your own state in your own country, humiliating you so much that you become violent? Here you have someone in profound denial, active denial, whereby simply looking at the truth of something, would shatter his sense of self into little pieces. Been there.
If I understand you correctly : I think I agree. Something happened yesterday - at least in my world, which shifted the way I look at this whole thing, quite dramatically.
I'm an Iranian atheist,Sam Harris is disappointingly idiot in this discussion
Jihadist people are not individual monsters, they are just idiot and some times used heroes!
Except the violence caused the checkpoints, not the other way around.
Orensho 💯
Thank you Sam! I agree with you. The one big problem I see is that there is no movement or effort from the so called liberal or secular muslims which is big enough to shift the conversation about transformation from within. Is it because they at the end of the day choose their religion over that goal, or are they afraid? This change has to start with them I think, but when observing the rethoric from even these figures, the criticisms of Islamist ideology is basically none existent at the moment.
1 year after debunking the lie of slaughtering children and Sam Harris still uses it
Hilarious
100% right-on !!
Absolutely brilliant sam
Sam is an amazing voice of reason… his intellect and integrity in explaining a difficult subject is so important.
5:05 so ultra right wing politicians completely dominating Israeli politics is just a "rounding error"??? Sam is beyond a clown.
No, better said- you are a fool.
What are you talking about?
Ultra-right-wing parties hold maximum 14 seats out of 120 Knesset members.
If only there were a presidential candidate who openly supports israel and has a track record of pro israel policy💔
How about every American president since 1970?
Rele cuz the current 1 seems pretty into placating arabs
America have always been pro Israel. Some administrations might not like the far right leadership there. But in principle, America have always backed Israel’s right to exist no matter what party runs the show. We are their main source of military supplier. We know that Israel is more so reasonable as the only democracy in the region. So they’re our friends.
Israel has received over 150 BILLION $ worth of weapons from the usa since its establishment in 1948 , tf you on about???
I'm Israeli. We don't need to "marginalize" our far right extremists. They're already marginalized. Media just doesn't want to present it to you like that. They will distort and spotlight it as if it's a pervasive phenomena. It's not. These are maybe 5% of the population, and don't represent typical Israelis.
You rightfully pointed out the ills and lunacy of Jihadism. But what of the ills and madness of Zionism?
Zionism doesn't effect the entire world to the same extent.
More people need to see this, people have become too comfortable in the west and have no idea what it looks like in the middle east.
I agree with everything Sam is talking about. He brings such clarity and truth.
You mean he echoes your own biases and abandons even the idea of truth.
The extreme liberal position here comes from the fact that they dont get fundamentalism and how it works and dont believe its possible. I grew up with it, i know extreme insanity is possible.
This might be true of the number if illegal settlements in the West Bank weren't so high and weren't growing every year.
Fatah tried the peaceful route and that didnt turn fruitful
Neither side have put in the required effort for a peaceful solution.
Without enemies and conflict, far too many lives have no meaning or purpose.
Planet Earth is the only Paradise known to humans.
Just the idea that someone has some desire to understand a terrorist is really revolting!
As a Palestinian who almost joined isis in 2015(now an atheist don't worry), I can confirm from personal experience that what he says regarding islamist and jihadisim is true.
But the idea of standing with one side either Palestinian or Israeli is really bad.
Both parties are largely terrible and don't deserve any support in my opinion.
What deterred you from joining?
@@Nettamorphosis Don't be so gullible. His name is Steve ffs. Steve the Palestinian? Come on.
@@ryananon779 How far do you think the place with the origin of the name steve is from palestine ?
Incase your wondering. Not very far.
@@ryananon779 you're projecting your own gullibility by thinking Steve is my real name haha.
@@steve95188 I didn't say REAL name. And I'm sorry, but if you want people to believe you when you say you're Palestinian, maybe use your real name and don't laugh about being dishonest. It's a bad look.
"I lied about my name! Hahahaha!"
And we're to believe your story? Get tf out of here.
Not all religions or cultures deserve to be respected and treated equally just for the sake of it and October 7 shows that. Tolerance can only go so far when you have a knife to your throat by someone you are told to just respect their difference in perspective and ideas.
This Harris for President!
Why be neighbors, in separate nations, when we could all live in one nation, under God, with liberty and Justice for all. any suggestion of two nations suggests that people should be divided, according to the government definition of religion. This is the definition of oppression.
As an ex Christian I find this video ridiculous 😂
Why?
Sam, Islamic Muslims originally were the largest colonialists. Ironic hey?
They don't love their own children?
they believe that the kids being martyred is the best way of loving them. hence the human shields
Their hate for Jews is greater than their love for their children.
If they did, they would never dream of tolerating, let alone endorcing/committing terrorism against Isreal or anyone else that they know is going to hit back and extract a heavy toll, as we are all unfortunately seeing play out for the umpteenth time in gaza... What kind of monster prioritizes "resistance" over the lives of their children? I judge parents who don't put their babies in proper car seats. Watching people openly support/committ/celebrate terrorism when they know what will result is absolutely infuriating
@ryanmccarville8975 so if you lived in an Apartheid state you would just accept it and be a slave forever. The bullshit you just spouted is easy to say when you aren't in their position
@@ryanmccarville8975
You know there is something called honour? It's not that beautiful but it's real in majority of humans
“I’ve met anthropologists who are absolutely sure nobody believes in paradise…”
🤔 Do anthropologists have the rare ability to read the minds of others? Why do I care what anthropologists think? Especially today-the humanities departments at most universities today are the MOST whacked by far.
That sort of argument really undermines Sam Harris and makes him hard to take seriously.
