Really frustrating that Tony’s channel doesn’t have higher subscriber numbers given the quality of his content. FastAg is really an excellent farming/fabricating/family channel.
Be sure to write down all your motor parameters and settings in that VFD drive. That way if the controller looses the settings during storage it’s easy to re enter. My career was in motor control in a large mill. I’ve seen it all. Using VFD is a great idea. Way simpler than mechanical variability. Good luck
Nice triple Pun!! Thanks for the videos!! This is a great build. Needed a unit like that for cleaning oats when I was a kid. My back hurts now from carrying full bushel baskets then. Lol 😂🤣💯
You're going to have an issue with the Lundell plastic flighting for use in a grain cleaner. If you don't keep it completely full all the time it will wear prematurely in the center of the auger where the grain isn't keeping it "floating" in the center of the tube. Putting another vfd on those motors to slow the flighting down and keep it as full as possible is the best route. Just don't want you to be disappointed in the product if that starts happening!
That is great information and we actually just ordered another vfd and 3 phase for the main auger so we can slow it down to not be so aggressive on the peas.
@@WelkerFarms I'm the guy you talked to at Shortline Ag in Scobey. I've been installing those Lundell flights for over a decade now and built many parts for grain cleaners. Just get ahold of me if you have any questions.
You will probably need to use compressed air and blow the fins out on the Inverter frequently, since it will tend to attract dust and chaff and start overheating. Also be careful with the low voltage signal wire running through the high voltage breaker box. If it shorts, you fry your inverter! You may also have issues with RF noise getting into the control circuits if the control wires are running right past high current wires, so it's best to either keep the signal wires seperate from the power wires, or run it in a shielded metal conduit, or at least use shielded wire. If the inverter gets clogged up with debris frequently, (which won't surprise me lol), I would add filters to the enclosure so that it keeps dust and bugs and debris out. You can use foam or pleated paper filters, and either fab something or you can get filters designed to mount on enclosures like that. If you do add a filter, you should also add a case cooling fan to keep air moving over the inverter since the filters will reduce ambient air flow into the enclosure.
In all areas where you have shaking connected with bolts or screws put a rubber or flex thin bushing "sidewall of old tire" this will help stop vibration from transferring from motor to stand. try it you will like it.
Hey nick and family keep up the good work with you tube and farming! Its nice to see you guys grow both in ag and entertainment while using both to do so and putting ag in a good light 👍
