      I learned how to jump serve by just carefully watching haikyuu, I adjusted my timing and the toss, so it's kinda hard to do it, but if u have the guts u can pull it.
      I'm currently learning jump floater, with the help of coach Donny, in a scale of 5, I can do 2 perfectly, but sometimes I mess it up. There are girls in our school that loves volleyball.
      They even attend a event called intramurals, but while I watch them play, I'm not satisfied, they can't spike coz the net is kinda high, and they even miss underhand serves often, so I trained and trained even I'm just borrowing my neighbor's volleyball, I will surpass them and show them that volleyball isn't that easy, but it's not impossible. So I totally agree with u

      "Just don't say volleyball is easy, kinda disrespects volleyball players effort and time they put into their skills" - not really. Volleyball is easy. It's an objectively easy game, and perhaps one of the easier sports. You think volleyball players really care if the sport is considered easy or not if it's something they are passionate about? Nobody is discounting the effort they put into the sport, but that effort doesn't equate to volleyball being difficult.
      Volleyball is, and always will be, a very easy sport. I'm not bashing on the sport. I think it's really fun and I love it, but I'm not going to let that skew reality.
      There's potentially two difficult things regarding Volleyball. Those two things are digs and serves. However, serves can hardly be classified as difficult when even Olympic and professional players have very shoddy serves, no power, etc. So really it's just digs.
      Using this as an example is terrible for argumentative sake but I'll say it anyway. I can set the ball anywhere, from anywhere, one handed (left or right), jumping in however way, in any manner you want the ball to come to you. No, I'm not a prodigy, I'm not a genius, it's just very easy. I've been able to do it for as long as I could remember.
      Now, it could be because my coordination is better than most. I can juggle and learn/perfect a new juggle pattern in less than a day, fire poi, contact fire staff, yo-yo (multiple types), gymnastics, tennis, football, ultimate frisbee, volleyball of course, basketball, soccer, billiards, balisong (butterfly knife), marksman shooting, cup and ball, the list honestly keeps going. Sure, I already know most of you will claim I'm lying and just rambling off a bunch of things. I'm 28, I don't care to look cool on the internet, I don't care what you people think about it. I literally love to learn and get good at just about everything. I find it incredibly fun to learn new skills and talents and there's still tons more I want to learn. My vast hobbies may have given me the hand-eye coordination growing up that enabled me to be more "precise" which explains why I find volleyball, and everything else, so easy?
      Either way, my opinion is unchanged. If I can do this, certainly someone that focuses their time only on volleyball should be capable of managing no problem and in a matter of weeks (unless they lack power; strength has to be built, you can't just be stronger).
      I'm going to mention this to someone else, but there's a difference between putting in time and putting in effort. Putting in the time won't make you good. Putting in the effort will.

    • @spin.chicken
      @spin.chicken 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@sierraburns2601 there's a huge distinction between putting time into something and putting effort into something. One person may be putting in the time but not actively learning and working to improve, whereas another person puts in the effort to improve and get better. The person putting in the effort will always result in that person getting better, and that person will always improve at a faster rate than the person that's just putting in the time.
      Another example:
      Two people put 1 hour into practice every day.
      Person X is lazy and doesn't really do a whole lot.
      Person Y is active, doing research, using tutorials, asking coach questions, and genuinely working on their talent.
      Even though both put in 1 hour, person Y is putting in the effort and will always be better than person X.
      You may not like to hear it, but it's a very easy sport. Setting is the easiest thing alive- you can use two hands to toss the ball to a spiker and you don't even have to necessarily toss the ball to anyone, just toss it up and someone will be there. If you see a spiker near you, just slap it up there and the speed behind the spikers jump will propel him up to the net to meet the ball for a little quick. It's not hard.. Spiking is nearly as easy- know that the ball needs to have some distance from your body in order for your swing to generate momentum and use that momentum to propel the ball with more force. Force = mass x acceleration, mass comes from the strength of the spiker, the acceleration comes from the swing speed. You need the distance in order for that force to properly transfer to the ball, Newton's second law, because if it's too close your body can't generate the power or speed to swing it with proper form. Receives and digs are mostly luck- is the ball even coming to you, do you happen to be in the correct position to have a chance at getting to the ball. You can't really predict where the ball will go, especially off the block. Dump- just tap it when you see a big enough gap in the opponents defense, same to other variants of dumps. Serves- not even Olympic and professional players always have power serves. You can find a fair number just jump and hit the ball, not a floater, not anything, though I would normally say serves are the more difficult aspect of volleyball. But it's not required. Blocking- this is partially luck, in a sense. You never know if a spiker is going to delay, feint, or if the ball is even going to be tossed to them so you have to try and predict and you must try to block the spiker just in case the ball is tossed to him. If you watch any matches, a spiker will almost always be marked and a blocker will always try to jump with the spiker. I could go on...
      There's nothing skill based about the sport.
      Again, I love the sport. But it's not skill based.. It's a bunch of people jumping and scrambling around chaotically while trying to position themselves to defend/attack. I'm not throwing shade at the sport. I'm just able to acknowledge the objective truth of it.

    Thanks coach, I always have trouble with timing, often end up under the ball and my school coach just couldn't teach me how to correct it. To be fair, he did'nt teach us much, cuz it's just p.e class therefore not important (he didn't even teach us hitting footwork) and that's why your videos help me so much. Even though we don't play in tournments and stuff I still wanna do my best!

    Yea this helps me a lotttt more with my footwork. I always thought the ball would always go to go to either wide, good, or inside set so whenever I get in a game I never knew how to do the footwork, so thanks a lot. I should also send this to my friend.

      +natshok rangdrel well , i just wanted to tell you that in volleyball the setter can spike when another person sets the ball when it's out of your reach ( doesn't happen so often tho )
      and if another person sets it and you're there then you can spike it normally like any other spiker would 😂

    Hey man great video and tips! I was wondering if you could help me out on a problem I seem to have. I just started playing volleyball for a few months now and I keep having trouble with getting under the ball when I hit. This results in me hitting the ball out or high out of bounds. I played football and basketball all my life so I'm used to getting the ball at the highest point underneath the ball. I know i need to patient and hit the ball in front of me (opposed to hitting when I'm directly under it) but I can't seem to do it consistently. What tips would you give me?

      +mistajohn1 I can relate… I think he essentially addressed that issue at 0:48 in this video. Basically, force yourself to wait and have to rush to the ball rather than moving to it right away.

    • @GadeDrengen1
      @GadeDrengen1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +mistajohn1 Accelerate to the ball then u won't get the ball under you. Or else try to take smaller steps before you spike/smash maybe you're taking too big steps like i did when i started :)
      Sorry for my English :b
