Awesome. I really wish Wotc would consider one theme per season, since d&d, hunt and vow all fit thematically and had cross-mechanics but now this is completely different... Its a great aesthetic but very jarring

art style of this set is absolutely stunning
It's like a tourist advertisement brushing aside all the complicated social issues and disagreements. Even misrepresenting the gangs as joyriders than gangs. It's really well made
not to mention, that's also very representative of how the general population treats Japan, the place Kamigawa is based on.

So I'll admit when I first saw the Promo's for this set i was like "There is no way in hell they can murge magic and Cyberpunk" but you know what I was wrong, not only did they pull it of they made master work of it. now how do we get a D&D sourcebook for Kamigawa

Since the original Kamigawa block took place thousands of years ago, I like that the world has changed and developed so much by the time we see it in the present.
They actually pulled off Kamigawa with a cyberpunk flavor. Awesome! Now to brew a rat ninja deck🤩

I will admit I'm a little sad. This was well done and beautiful to look at, but I was hoping for something as developed as the Midnight Hunt cinematic.

Sadly, that's the only thing stunning about this set. They threw the spirites of kiwagawa under the bus, and made all the ninjisu cards with boring abilities. After looking through all the cards, there isn't one mythic or rare card from this set that i wanted to run. Even the hate spells are hyper spacific or very situational. I get this is a Japanese inspired set, but did they have to make all the cards super situational like this is the yogioh card game?
@@kadavercade3597 Coming from Magic, it doesn't fit Magic. Which is saying a lot in the context for this set. It looks like it's from LoL.
I knew I was going to love this set before it even hit spoiler season and despite it having only been out for a day, I've somehow pulled 2 Empress Planeswalkers on MTG Arena so I've been having a ton of fun!
I cant tell you how ecstatic and overjoyed I am with this set. I went to my first pre release since early 2020 and had the time of my life. This set brought back memories to my all-time favorite set and reminded me as to why this is my favorite plane. I was back home, and it's good to be back.

Okay, this was a good promo video. Not only the sound and visuals, but the underlying choice to make it the "Greek Chorus" for the set, laying out the basic lore and setting so that everyone has an idea of what is there, so they can interpret the cards correctly. The Midnight Hunt commercial was terrible, but this commercial gave me shivers as I watched it, entranced by the art direction and the blending of visuals. I think it's safe to say that I'm excited about this set since the Mothership has been handing the release very well. Especially since you gave us time to finish being excited about the Innistrad releases before diving into Kamigawa. I had BARELY enough time to not get jaded about a new release, and I'm glad about that.
This might be the coolest trailer since eldraine.
The animators that worked on this better be payed what they deserve!
Not gonna lie, when I heard Kamigawa was going techno I had my doubts, but after seeing everything, I love the direction taken here in the set as a whole.
Never thought id see something like this in MTG. Im creating a TCG myself and this has always been something I enjoyed. An anything is possible option for games is what I love to see.
This is such a good set trailer!! I really was not a fan of incorporating music covers in Magic trailers, as it almost felt like it was there to elevate the hype, but the hype should come from exploring the world and setting itself (like you did so well with Midnight Hunt), not from an external source!
That's my opinion anyway :) Really looking forward to play this set at prerelease!!

Not a bad trailer by any means but to me Throne of Eldraine's was better
I'm a little disapointed in the new Kamigawa.
It feels like it wanted to reference sooo much but didn't got the space to do so.
For example the sagas are a cool nod to the OG Kamigawa but most of them just feel weak and not really part of the story but just as that, a cool nod to OG Kamigawa.
There so many references and anime nods, that you don't really know which is real japanese culture or story telling and what's anime.
By cramming in all these things, the set feels a bit crowded and you don't have the feeling to focus on one thing.
This reminds me of the classic joke: "There are two kind of people, the one that finish stuff and... Oh! Look! A squirrel!"

You think they'll make a D&D sourcebook out of this? I know it'd sort of be a Shadowrun knockoff but Shadowrun mechanically hurts and I'd love a more wild setting for 5e.

I went 4-1-0 in my pre release here in Buenos Aires! First time I got to the top 8 in these. Very happy about this limited experience and a great set overall!
You know what ? MTGA is the magic game i always idealized.
As a guy who played the magic game for ps1, then years later for xbox, (aside from the cards) it always felt out of its core.
I feel like this is it, the perfect game, where you actually play cards and battle other players, where we get new sets all the while keeping the older ones, having different game modes, challenges and aesthetic stuff. But even then, there is still room for potential development and improvements, one of them would be to actually be able to add players you enjoyed battle with as an example.
But those improvements aside, it is already almost perfect. Congratulations on creating this game and thank you !! Hyped for the new setttt

Man been awhile scenes I’ve played magic the gather and how far it’s come and how very different is then how I remember…last time I played it it felt like I was playing Skyrim but with cards.
