    Chicken strip's from Coles deli is dynamite bait for flatties and bream.

    problem is in a lot of spots that bread would be ripped off by tiddlers before you ever hooked one of those bigguns

    • @CoastfishTV
      @CoastfishTV  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That can always happen. Find the spots, fish preferably on dusk or dawn and the bigger models seem to be more aggressive Shaun.

    Glad im not the only one to use this trick, the best part is with bread you dont get the fishy smell, you can use the crust as berley and breads dirt cheap, Caught my biggest bream on bread aswell, 55cm hog of a thing

    Bread would definitely work , but how to keep it on the hook is harder than catching the bream

    • @CoastfishTV
      @CoastfishTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's easy enough. There is no other tip I can offer someone that finds it hard work but use your fingers. 😉

      @@CoastfishTV For bread, rather than trying to mould it onto the hook, if you want a bait that holds, tear out your piece of bread. Fold it and squeeze the air out of it. Fold it again the other way, squeeze it again to get rid of all the air. Simply pin the hook through one. This is my go to freebaiting rig for carp. It works well in the salt for bream, trevas, whiting, herring, mullet, yakkas and flathead also. Just adjust the size of the bait and the hook to the target species.

    Can u make a video of how to catch flathead on soft plastics please

    • @CoastfishTV
      @CoastfishTV  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      One of my favourite species on plastics is the humble ol flathead and I have caught many over the years so I would be happy to do an episode at some point in the future. The quality fish should go on the bite as the weather cools down. Andy

    Not "getting lucky" mate. Applying experience, practice and knowledge to catch fish is not luck. That is like saying of the bloke who consistently hits fours and wins cricket games for his team "Oh, that was a lucky four"... No, mate. Luck is the once a year fisho who goes down with a servo prawn and gets a 20 kilo jew on his first cast. Consistently going and targeting bream and catching bream is skill.

      No I prefer unweighted.

    • @AndrewFishman
      @AndrewFishman 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you squeeze the air out, there is no need for sinkers, the bread sinks. Has a good casting weight if compacted properly.

    Is there any way of telling the sex of a male or female bream b4 gutting and scaling?

    • @CoastfishTV
      @CoastfishTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      mark kemp I asked Darren 'Dizzy' Borg who is a Bream fishing expert your question and he replied "Squeeze there belly and roll down to there anal fins. Males will milk. Plus 90% of bream over 36 cm are female as they grow bigger and faster then males. This is only what I have experienced over 40 years of catching bream and is not an exact science." Dizzy
