Thank you for teaching us how to date those Ibanez tube Screamers
No problem,
Thx for the info! I got an original from 1982 black label made in Japan! With the JRD4558D op-amp chip! ❤
Sounds amazing!
🤘
Sweet, thanks for the video. Just found out the tube screamer I purchased for 60 bucks is an original 1983 model.
Feckerhead nice score on the original 83 model. Thanks for watching the video.
I just looked at mine and the year is 8250, and the chip is JRC 4558D. But I knew mine was the original, as I bough it in 1982 new and is still in excellent condition and didn't use it much at all.
almost the same story here! turns out we had an original 82 screamer in the family that my cousin gave to me for very cheap.
Nice score
Thank you this was very helpful as I own a re-issue that was missing the rubber pad on the bottom. I was going to sell it but because of your video I realized it has the 4558 D chip (JRC) and it sounds amazing. Now I can at least give more information to let it get to the new owner. I will check out the website and radio show!
Awesome hope the sale went well
mine is an 82. I remember buying it off a kid around 85.
john197039 nice, keep that guy it can only go up in value.
Sweet, thank you brother for the tip
my friend gave me 2 T- screamers for free, they're not working at the moment guess his uncle never fixed them and so i wanted to date them, one has ibanez and even the board in the top corner reads Ibanez. So thats gotta be a newer one. But.....
The 2nd is a bit confusing.
It reads maxon on the battery compartment and maxon on the top right side of the board. But has the caps greyish colored onstead of green and that has that after market chip.... Could this be a later 80s early 90s?? 🤔
Do they sound good, then who cares.... they are ones worth keeping!
I had a close look at my Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer. I never used it, bought it around '94. It's still in the original box (no barcode on box - MB-TS1401, KU)
It looks like a Reissue probably between '90-'94
208447 silver label (no CE on label)
TA75558P chip
resistors coated brown
"MAXON" on battery cover
2mm steel cover (pedal on the heavier side)
Nice!
Hey I was trying to find a video I saw a while back about someone going over a Ibanez Sd-9. Checking the chips, serial number and insides to see if it was one of the good ones. Was hoping it was your vid and you could point me in the right direction. I can’t find it anywhere. Regards -Dan
Not sure how this one doesn't help but go to analogman website
I just found your page and have acquired ( yet to have in hand) one with the following serial number 176075? any idea if there's a serial number lookup site? The label is black not silver.
Best person to ask is Analogman
great video - does anyone find the background music distracting?
I don't since I put it there lol
sillennium fair point. You did post for me to watch though. :)
My ts9 doesn’t have the serial on the back but does have the desired chip. The circuit board however says Ibanez instead of Maxon. Can anyone tell me roughly what year this ts9 is from?
Check out Analogmans website. That should help
Hi! I have a TS9 with de CE letters on the silver label and serial number starts with 1. I’m having trouble finding the date. Hope you can help! Thank you!
Best to email analogman generic email they know it all
Mine has a black sticker , no CE mark , ser.no. 166178 . The JRC 5448D chip ? I think mine is 5440C ?, Maybe my eyesight ? Bought second hand by a friend around '84/'85 , mine since '89, still sounds awesome ✌️
Shaun W Love It! You can't go wrong with those old tubescreamers
I paid $30 for a tube screamer about 20 years ago but I only checked now and it was MIJ and the serial number dates it to 1982. In the box.
Nice
I have a TS-9, early 81 black label, A8138 capacitors, with JRC2043DD less desirable than he JRC4558D. It will do me for noodling on my bedroom guitar!
👍🏻 rock on
my sticker is silver and the serial code is 0000826....what year would that be?
Go to Analogman website for additional help
The serial code would suggest it's from 1981 however my sticker is black? Any ideas on what this could mean?
+Eddie Reid www.analogman.com/tshist.htm check out that page and any further questions you may have ask Analogman, he is the man!
Can you please help me identify my ts808 I believe it is the vintage model
Collin Vogg ummmmm how I am I to identify it?
Mine has the CE o top right and serial number has 7 digits starting with 1234336. So I’m guessing not much value
👍🏻
Mine is an '83. Doesn't have the good chip though.
Well some people like the other chips, but if you want to change it contact Analogman, he can do it. He always responds to emails.
Same with mine! 🤦🏻♂️mines has that cheapo aftermarket part 😩 I do feel like upgrading to the real JRC 4458.

Yeah the flo guitar site has been shut down but the facebook page is still up
I got mine at a garage sale for TEN BUCKS....🤯. Well...it was back in the early 90s, but still....the thing is dead nuts mint other than the damn broken membrane type switch thing to turn it on. It's got all the right stuff...my idiot friend wanted to borrow it. I said HELL NO
Heck yeah keep that sucker
"First thing looking at this pedal, you'll notice it's very heavy"
👀 looks heavy bruh
Pick up an original they are quite a bit heavier than the ones made today, or are you making a fat joke
Not too handy with that screwdriver are you?
Frank Canupp oh but I am
