Exactly. The guy's obviously an immigrant speaking a second language, she's sitting there with her upper class accent judging the guy for a slip up. And he's deeply apologetic without even being sure what he's done wrong. It would've taken a tenth of the time to say "Look, here's what you said wrong, here's why it might sound bad, it's no big deal". It sounds like he was saying "I can't tell where exactly you're from" and it came out as "You all look the same". But all she wants is to tell people "Today, I was accosted by vile racism and proudly stood up against it".

Imagine thinking the consequences of removing a fucking bright teal clown wig from someones head while you are drunk go as far as to take away his current career, make him unemployable because of internet notoriety and the likely years of stalking and harassment he will face from sociopaths like you who revel in this shit, as he looks for a future job and every single place looking to hire him face emails and phone calls making sure they don't, likely resulting in this guy fucked the rest of his life unable to find even steady work, let alone any employment in the same income tier. Making everyone shame them, have them fired from a job and risk them never finding an employment ever again, I think, makes the poster also kind of an ass.

She was wearing this at night, walking out in the city, where there is wind, cars, and brushing past people, you can protect the wig from falling off but not from direct force
Clearly you don't have experience with wigs since you're comparing them to a hat, luckily, you can look up any lace front wig application video on youtube, to learn the effort it takes. To blend in the front you are GLUING the lace front to your forehead and layering makeup over it to blend it in. Some women have to wear a hair net that looks very embarrassing when the wig is ripped off.
I sure hope you aren't a red💊 type if you think this is how to treat the women who go thru the effort to put on all the bells and whistles to meet some night club beauty standard. Then be upset when that same girl is now hostile to strangers approaching her.

I also find it strange that Destiny's take here is that if you are assaulted, you should just "endure", shrug it off, or use physical violence if you have the means. It's a little strange for Destiny given his very reasonable takes on other similar issues in the past. The wig incident is much more clear cut than the other incidents. The woman did file a police report (and let's be real if that's all she did, nothing would happen to him because the police won't give a f about something like this). Destiny doesn't seem to know what wearing a wig is actually like and thinks getting it ripped off is like if someone took off your baseball cap. Law firms and most large professional services firms have very strict regulations around how their employees can conduct themselves in outside of work. This "doxxing" is unfortunately the only way someone like this can be held accountable. Just because there have been a few instances of abuse of this power lately, doesn't mean that we now should go back to the "good old days" where we either beat up whoever transgressed against you or just "endure".

The unfortunate fact of life in NYC is that a lot of crimes, including worst crimes than assault, are not resolved. It's also well within the rights of his law firm to fire him. If I was a partner at his firm, I would confirm that he did this (which there is clear evidence for), and once confirmed, fire him immediately. Any large professional services company would do this, and if you have ever worked at a company like this, you would know this. The thing to think about is this is alleged assault on a minor level. If this woman was some homeless person who got out her phone and started spontaneously shouting at him after her wig got blown off by some wind while he just happened to be the nearest person, we wouldn't know the difference. Also, the term assault carries some emotional weight. There are categories of bad things, and even presuming he did do this equivalent of knocking her hat off, that's a *far cry* from something like a full force gut punch. There needs to be a level of response between "yeah this is okay" and "we need to stalk this person and make him unemployable", especially when we're literally not even using the court systems to determine appropriate punishments.

Plus some of these wigs are extremely expensive. This man did something that anyone can agree is wrong…. Keep your hands to yourself simple. 2:30 this woman was totally in her right to do what she did. 5:04 also certain organizations have laws that want you to act like a decent human being when you’re not on the clock, especially law firms… they don’t want anything negative linked to them him losing his job was well deserved. Just letting it slide would be intolerable to almost any normal human being and I wouldn’t advocate just ignoring it and moving on as a solution. The best response to this story imo that I’d like to see more comments and ppl online make is that we need to provide a better form of recourse for people like her that doesn’t involve online strangers & that we need to be more clear universally on not letting ppl feel like it’s just a naughty but okay form mischief to grab at people’s hats or wigs.
