This is part of why I walked away. I can't stand how the left handles basically anything at this point, and the delusional entitled way they expect you to be on their side.

I'd argue horror is actually the most inherently conservative genre there is. It's about the fear of the unknown, fear of social decay and the darkness of human nature, often steeped in explicitly religious and supernatural themes. If you take these themes out of horror you get films like The Shape of Water, where what seems to be scary and deviant at first is revealed to be benign. And that's just well... not very scary.
Horror is about fear, everyone feels fear. The first tribes of man feared the dark and told the first horror story about it.
Is the shape of water even scary? Maybe it seems conservative but i doubt something black christmas would something conservatives are into and fear of the unknown in horror movies isnt the same fear of unknown for conservatives, and like destiny pointed conservatives were the ones that pickited against movies like that, thats the fear of unknown of conservatives.
@@KnightOfTheWiredthose were conservatives
@@KnightOfTheWired There was a study that found liberals have a muted fear response. I know because they were bragging on Twitter "so conservatives are just pussies lmao"
Horror movies (at least a few decade ago) went against everything many conservatives cared about.
I know you can't believe this, but gore was not well liked at one point. Showing things like murder on screen was considered legitimately disturbing.
Add the consistently sexual topics in horror, if you know anything about TV and movies you know the Hayes code. Horror movies essentially balked at the Hayes code and conservatives did not approve of promiscuity at such levels.
For reference, I love Lucy had a controversy for being the first show to show a married couple sleep together. Not sexually, just literally sleep. Those same haters were not approving of psychos shower scene lmao.
Horror may thematically seem conservative, but it's very much a genre that (originally) was used by a very non conservative base.

And I'm like "dude all the rich people you bitch about have the same justification for their lifestyle too. Why do you think you're any different than them?
Wealth is only really bad after like 100 million dollars+ lol. Also that isn't the logic at all. The more "wealth building" someone does, the less actual capital they are putting back into the system. There is no reason for someone to have speculatively billions and pay nothing in taxes. Very rich people usually borrow against their assets to pay for things as to evade paying taxes. There shouldnt be this level of wealth inequality in the richest country in the world. 500,000 homeless, 50,000 served this country. 1/6 kids are food insecure. And people hoarding hundreds of millions can park their assets in the market, and you only need to beat the market by 12 percent to make a 6 figure income with a million in the market. Thats why it's bad. Lol. Even John Locke can admit landlords are scum of the earth parasites. The way these people talk about the south like you can’t step foot outside your house without witnessing a klan rally will never not make me laugh. I’ve lived here my whole life and I can count the number of genuinely racist people I’ve met on my one hand. There are certain areas of the south that are racist for sure but that goes for literally every other part of the country, probably even the world.
It really is insane, but I've met people living in one of the most dangerous cities in the country and when hear that i live 45mins-1hr south of them and they act like that's so far away and say they're scared to "go down that far south". Like bro, my neighborhood is half white, half black and Hispanic and its way safer than the block you live on.
Not to say no one is racist, but the only time I've seen something actually racist and not just an off-color joke. We had permission to rabbit hunt a 250 acre farm for about a dozen people. We'd been there about 10 times and never had a problem, but one day we invited a black guy we know that owns hunting dogs. He was just there to run the dogs and hang out, he didn't even bring a gun. When we were leaving we talked to the farmer on the way out and he said some weird shit about bringing the wrong kind of people around and told us he'd rather we not come back.

It may have found a strong foundation in certain places, but horror is just different levels of being frightened.
How can we politicize a core emotion at its root? That seems weird to me...
I find these claims that anything has its roots or came from a certain place are simply ways to convince people "hey X thing you like is actually from Y group. So you should act more like Y group or you are actually taking from Y group and are thus indebted to Y group" whether the claim is true or not (most likely not), I feel like that's the intent they are pushing when presented with these arguments.

“Horror as a Genre is very Punk, very anti establishment and any argument otherwise is just wrong.”
“Is that true?”
No, it isn’t horror movies in the 70’s and 80’s were famous for the trope of viciously murdering any characters who engaged in sex, drugs, and rock n roll to the point that it was memed in the movie Scream, which subverted the trope by having Neve Campbell’s character survive the movie even after she had sex with her boyfriend.
Traditionally in the horror genre, the “survivor girl” is the virtuous virgin.
This trope is further highlighted in the Joss Whedon film, “Cabin In The Woods” to the point that killing “the whore,” the “athelete” “the scholar” and “the fool” is the literal formula for how their ritual is completed. The Virgin is the only optional sacrifice.
So in fact, to assert that Horror, especially horror of the 70’s-90’s, is “punk and anti-establishment” is the braindead cope take.
I think there are a lot of lefties and liberals who simply don't realize this. Horror almost exclusively targets ones conservative sensibilities. It lets lefties and liberals immerse themselves in their conservative sensibilities for couple of hours without feeling bad about it.
This would be an amazing point if the killer was the protagonist. However the final girl that everyone is supposed to be behind for the movie is usually not conservative or left leaning. This is like saying that metal is conservative because it leans into Christian imagery occasionally

I wonder how he can apply his kind of critique to Friday the 13th. Its creators literally said, “ we made it because it would be an easy way to make money.”
Woah they're definitely lefties then!!!
The creators said because of the success of Halloween is why they also did it so it feels people just follow trends during that time
A lot of horror starts that way - they're notoriously cheap to produce and if you get a hit you'll become rich. Terrifier was like 200k budget and made 5 million globally iirc
Meanwhile Zayne literally says that he makes videos he really doesn't want to because they make money.
SO close to self-awareness.
Sure, but it still had themes that they tried to convey. Sean S Cunningham literally stated that the themes were dying at a young age.
What’s funny is that people add the “moral” subtext to slashers, despite the makers of those movies intentions, which are typically just to make a scary movie. If you watch any of the “making of” documentary’s about any of the major slasher franchises, the creators motivations all come down to “ we had an idea for a movie that we could make really cheap. So we made it.”
Yes, Horror emerged from the exploitation films being made specifically for drive-ins. And it's called "exploitation" because it uses as much nudity and crass violence as possible because then even underfunded movies can sell tickets. There are some exceptions like _They Live,_ and _Dawn of the Dead,_ but even those are just anti-consumerism, not progressive. Indeed, John Carpenter films like _Assault on Precinct 13_ and _Escape from New York_ are pretty much reactionary diatribes against the criminal reform movement of the 60s and 70s so Carpenter is far from progressive (at least in his earlier career). Very few horror filmmakers could be accurately described as progressive in the 70s and 80s.

I'm from NC just east of the Appalachians. You'd be very surprised how few people are actually very racist. Almost everyone would treat a black person they meet with respect and kindness. They do exist like I remember some in my high school, rebel flags on their trucks and everything but they are a meme to everyone else, even in the south. If you talk to them about black crime or something I'm sure they'd say some things left leaning people would consider very racist, but if you ask them if it's ok for blacks to be given worse sentences than whites for the same crimes almost none of them would say yes that's ok. They tend to care about fairness a lot and true racism just isn't that.
I personally don't like how gentrified Asheville is, my girlfriend was very creeped out by it.
@@ArchDeusAirsoftNC I live in Western North Carolina and am upset about how Asheville has changed from a beautiful place to a ANTFA chapter
The rebel flag isn't even a symbol of racism here in the south. There were many different factors to the creation of the confederacy and it wasn't all slavery. I have a few relatives who proudly fly the confederate flag under the US flag everytime they have a cook out. They also invite their black friends to the same cook outs and everyone has a fine time. I'm not saying there aren't racist people flying that flag but it's not really seen as a symbol of hatred.

Yeah I mean there are some movies which maybe have politics in them but it's not the whole or even majority of the horror genre.
I guess left-wing is political position, but I think some would say it's a social and cultural position too. Horror specifically targets a persons conservative sensibilities. I've seen that guys video like 5 times now, and seen Willy Mac reacting to it 3 times, on his video, on TurkeyTom's video, and now on Destiny's video.... he's made the most viral video ever, I never watch a video 5 times!
He's got the lefty 'stache
The skeptical person in me thinks that it's some sort of imitation of Stalin, but it couldn't be that obvious, could it?
@@KaraZola Nah, it's because they want to look like Freddy Mercury. It's the stereotypical "gay" moustache
The levels of cringe were off the charts on this one. That kid is going to feel pretty awkward about this video when he grows up and becomes sentient.
Very unlikely. He's already too old to go back, the brain is too "developed"
There is something to be said about the hills have eyes and other cannibal horror movies stereotyping certain rural communities, but it's crazy to say that the New York family was an invader and they were protecting themselves.
Yep, if he wanted to take a leftist view and critique on hills have eyes that should have been the exact angle he went with in the video. "I dont like this movies undertones very much, cause it is one of many that paint poor rural folk as these monsters out to literally eat and or r*pe you, as if they werent human." But instead he went the dumbest route possible and tried to claim the clear monstrous folk that they were made out to be were just rural folk trying to defend their lands from the big city rich folk.
Like this probably applies better to Texas Chainsaw, because the movie quietly explains their hardship coming from the post Vietnam conditions yadda yadda yadda (this still makes Leatherface bad and all).
Iirc hills isn't that artsy, but I could be wrong I haven't seen it in a while
Yeah, you could definitely make a case that it was stereotyping certain rural communities.
But what’s weird to me is that instead of making that case, he made the case that cannibals were defending their home from outsiders. Meanwhile, he assumes real life Appalachians don’t like “outsiders,” (i.e. are racist),) either, so that makes them bad. But when cannibals don’t like outsiders, that’s good.
The only difference is that he made it up in his own head to liken the cannibals to whatever minority groups he came up with instead of seeing them, more obviously, as a grotesque stereotype of Appalachians.
He just doesn’t like poor Appalachian white folk nor well-to-do white folk nor any of them in between, probably, unless they are white cannibals being a menace to other whites. I normally don’t like making up hypothetical “if the roles were reversed” nonsense, but if either the cannibals or the people they were eating were a different race, he’d have some spin to make it out that the whites were the bad ones in either case.
As if the cannibals weren't baiting people to come so they could eat them...
Especially considering how the talks about Rittenhouse in this video...
Is there a channel that has wrong takes on movies on purpose. That sounds like a great idea for a channel tbh. If I started that channel I’d do Freddy Kruger is Jesus for sure.🤣🤣
A Quiet Place is about the fear of cancel culture and not being able to speak freely. lol am I doin it right?
You unironically could do that and gain a following just from people enjoying the absurdity rather than agree with you. If the following grows enough you will probably get some small subsection of people that will believe whatever absurd takes you make.
Never thought I'd see Wendigoon mentioned in a destiny video LMAO
After 40 min destiny comes to the conclusion that this guy is unwell.

It's always sad to see someone's mental health breakdown in video form. He spent like 6 minutes reading mean comments from his Hills Have Eyes essay in the video, and I had to stop watching.
I mean, people can be friends and disagree. It just depends on how serious each party takes it. I have long-standing friends with radically different beliefs, all able to coexist with each other.
This 100%. I have full on "trump is god" friends, who, say some of the most moronic shit sometimes, but are still good people at heart. Many times have I talked to them, and had them re think some of their opinions. The key is to not be condescending, or rude. Just flat out invalidating their feelings and intellect leads to resentment, and even more mental shut in.
Tbh, I don't think IPOS knows any social interaction aside from being a schizo online basement dweller. The long 3 hours of yapping nonsense and pointing blame at Isaiah's friends are just mental. This has to be satire, how can this man be so delusional and out of touch?

I love horror, hearing destiny try to recall the lore to freddy and jason physically hurt me.
Freddies mom was a nun who was raped by 100s of men thus freddy being called the "bastard son of 100 maniacs", he was raised by an adopted father who sexually abused him and as an adult he comtinued that abuse on kids.
Jasons mom didn't hate him, she worked at the camp and he was there as a camp goes because of that, the other councelers were busy getting down and dirty while other kids bullied him into the lake where he drowned. Shes literally the killer in the first movie.
uhh I am on the right and love horror movies... wtf is he talking about? Can we please not politicize EVERYTHING!?
Destiny, Metal is NOT left wing.
Metal is literally the music that was born from individual liberty.
It is completely against collectivism.
Thats why metalheads often hate punks.
There are some parts of metal that are left wing, but they are the smallest.
REMINDER: Right wing can also be rebellious.
@@just9911 Oh shit... what a good argument.
Oh wait. No argument. Just brain diarrhea.
As a metalhead who grew up amongst metalheads not only are metalheads are very libertarian they also tend to be christians, it might seem counterintuitive for outsiders until u realise bands like Slayer are very christian despite using satanic symbology, they simply write songs from the point of view of evil but that's in tune with the way cathedrals have gargoyles and monsters on them, it's the element of fear in Christianity, it exemplifies what's evil and what's Godly, no one in their right mind would listen to Slayer and think "oh yeah I'm on the side of evil demons that will torture me to death bc I entered a contract with them"
Horror is such a diverse genre that I think perhaps the only thing you can say that applies to all horror films is that they try to disrupt conventions, often through shocking, uncomfortable, or disturbing imagery and/or plots. And I don't think subverting conventions is inherently "punk" or left wing. Horror explores all kinds of different themes, from those commenting on a myriad of societal issues and fears, to those commenting on far more individual/personal issues and fears. And yea, some of it isn't made with any of that in mind - some of it is just made to be crazy/cool/campy.
Lovecraft was a right wing racist.
This man had problem with Wendigoon being a Christian while working on horror movies, many of which literally have Christ who saves the people from the ghost.
Or the slasher, a nightmare on elm Street 3 literally ends by Freddy getting a funeral with getting holy water put on him and having a Bible quote said
Here I was thinking Nosferatu was about a vampire who wants to suck the blood but this whole time it was a left punk counter-cultural political thriller.

The guy is just plainly wrong about horror. While yes horror is generally quite forward thinking and tries to symbolically challenge current social taboos, there are also horror stories that are deeply Conservative... Frankenstein and Dracula being extremely popular examples. One is about about exploring the consequences of science transgressing natural and godly law, and the other is essential an allegorically anti immigration story about a scary and flamboyant Eastern European man coming to invade Britain and corrupt its women... if u study history of art you get a lot of discussions about how Conservative or progressive the genre is... and many critics come up with differing and plausible interpretations of certain stories.
P.s: a great example of a symbolically left wing slasher is texas chainsaw massacre. It's basically a pro veganism film xD it essentially puts humans in the position of live stock. The psychos want to fatten them up, constantly treat them like property, and want to use their skin and meat for furniture and food. Obviously I'm being reductionist, but there's a lot of interesting allusions to this theme in the film.
Good coverage, dude, thumbs up. Wendigoon did an incredibly frightening video about the mlk jr assassination. His research is so well done it's sometimes used by other TH-camrs. He presented A LOT of info I've never heard before, which underscored just how treacherous our intelligence agencies can be.
