    Thank you for an excellent guide to the HJ servo tester. After misconnecting a servo on another project, it burned out and became erratic. I did not enjoy the prospect of destroying another one. You prevented that problem. Thanks for your videos and Udemy courses.

    I just bought my first servos and got one of those small blue square testers. The servos go 360 deg around twice when you turn it on and then stop. They will go to center but only move maybe 120 deg total. Then I bought one of these testers that I like a lot better. The servos don't go around in circles anymore but the movement is the same around 120 deg. They were MG90S and advertised to have all metal gears which they didn't. They refunded my money and I've ordered some more. Just getting started but I want what I paid for.

    It surprised me that your ESCs started the motor at 1500 micro seconds - which is the mid throttle stick position.
    Mine all start at 1000 microseconds.
    Are yours set up for cars, with braking on the first half of the stick travel?

  • @abcabc-ro4bc
    @abcabc-ro4bc 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Any way to change the upper and lower limits, you can see from 6:00 that the servos never do a full 180

    • @RichardTapp1
      @RichardTapp1 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are not supposed to do a full 180 degrees. Nominally they are +/- 45 degrees for 90 degrees total. However that would be for the standard signal range of 1000-2000. This unit has extended range of 800-2200 so the servo travel is more than the standard 90 degrees.

    • @robojax

      no you can't . The center point is already set inside servo. You can just move it but not set.

    I have the servo connected to an ESC powered by a 12V battery. The ESC is connected to a 3600KV motor. The lowest rpm I can get is about 15000 rpm when the setting is at 1500. When I increase that number to 2200 the rpm goes well over 24000 rpm. What is that number doing? What is it changing? The current? The voltage? I know it is pulse width in microseconds but I am a bit confused as nowhere it is explained what that number is in terms of how it affects the rpm.

    • @robojax
      @robojax  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      it is the pulse width. For the RPM you need to find your motor datasheet to see chart for voltage and PWM relationship to speed (RPM).

    • @Yoyo-ug7wt
      @Yoyo-ug7wt 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@robojax Thanks so much for your reply. It's the Surpass Hobby 2838 3600KV motor and no such information is provided. At 2200 the rpm is actually 46,500 (not what I listed).At 1500 the formula V=RPM/KV translates into just over 4V at 1500 and almost 13V at 46,500. Is the voltage therefore changing as one increases the pulse width or is is staying the same but somehow the pulse width is affecting the rpm?I am trying to get only 5000 rpm with this servo and motor but it does not seem it is possiblle. Is that correct and that I need a lower KV motor? I appreciate your reply.
