I laughed when Richmond launched their "meat free" sausages a couple of years back. As everyone who likes a banger knows, Richmond sausages have been virtually "meat free" for decades.
Don't quote me on this because I may be suffering from the Mandela Effect. Regardless, I am thinking back to the noughties and a TV episode of something which may have been BBC Watchdog where that Matt guy with the motorbike went to a butcher to be shown what goes into what most of us expect to be in a, quote, "Real" sausage vs what qualifies as one under law. Because of the amount of consumer complaints about exactly this issue.
All the one time big name brands have gone to the dogs. Mr Kipling deserves special condemnation for tripling their prices and reducing the size of their products. £3 for 6 apple tarts, on yer bike.
The name is the same but like many former favourites they belong to a massive empire called Premier foods that have snapped them all up, Birds,Ambrosia,Oxo,Bisto,Sharwoods,Lyons,Mr kipling, to name just some famous names that have been bought out and butchered beyond belief! It's a damn shame.

Heinz has never been a name for quality to be fair. I can't think of a single product of theirs that I ever associated with quality but they've somehow managed to hypnotise the general public into thinking they make better products over the past few years using the power of advertising alone. They were just a company that made cheap beans and soups when I was a kid. It's quite interesting that they should partner with Richmond because they're another example of a company whose quality objectively pales in comparison with other options yet somehow they remain the country's most popular sausage.
@kimvibk9242 I don't mind anything Christmas related, but in December. Not in October. It is just ridiculous. I'm usually sick to death of Christmas by the time December arrives.
Heinz will cut its own throat eventually. So many of us have found other brands with equally great products for way less money. As far as Beans go Branston are the best for me. Also, Stockwell beans in Tesco are 42 p a can n pretty damn good. Hope you and your clan are doing well and all is good 😊
Agreed. There was a recent big consumer blind-taste test, of every brand of canned baked beans (forget who did it, I read about it in the Daily Mail). The Aldi own brand, 'Bramwells' baked beans came out on top, beating them all, and Branston beans (your favourite), beat Heinz. Yet Heinz is still the best selling brand - and it is typically the most expensive at around £1.50 a can - Aldi beans are just 41p a can. If you're feeding a family, it's a no-brainer - 3 cans of Aldi/Stockwell beans, for the price of one can of Heinz beans. And Heinz are definitely not the best baked beans out there any more!

That's why stores put Xmas stock out so early, literally no space left in the back. Why sell mince pies in October, with an 'eat by' date in November, though? That's really daft
I miss Kwik Save. My mum would always buy us a Bounty Bag when we went shopping. They were so good! Also you can freeze the mince pies, and they will last past christmas in the freezer.
So they'll be stuck on the "top" so to speak 😂 just give em a good shake. Also I'm with the ocd brigade on this one, couldn't stand looking at the labels upside down 😮
Its a bit like all these 'flavoured' beans which seem to attract a premium prime - I was slipping a teaspoonful of standard/mild curry powder into them more than 50 years ago! Ditto these days you can add a goodly glug of your favourite condiment - BBQ Sauce, Mustard, Gravy Powder etc to tart them up - get a cheap tin of beans which is on the 'better' side of the house labels and add a 10p squirt or spoonful of your flavouring of choice. Still - thank you yet again for taking one for the Foodie Team - clearly not utterly revolting but no return purchase.
It's £2 for a tin of Heinz Spaghetti Bolognese these days so it's a long time since I ate any Heinz products. Strictly own brand now and Aldi Soups are the business.
G'day Gareth. Thanks for the review on this one. Us Aussies don't have the luxury of this kind of thing in our supermarkets as our Heinz products are made in New Zealand. But if this product was available, I'd give it a go. I hope you and family are well. Cheers mate 👍😀🤤🇦🇺

Lol. Guessing heinz spent more on the design of the festive label than the actual product in the cans. The "pigs in blankets" my mom always made when I was a kid(here in the US). Was hotdogs or sausages wrapped in croissant pastry (sometimes stuff some cheese in the wrap as well). Then baked in the oven.. I would say your version of pigs in blankets, would be far better just making it yourself from scratch. Probably would taste far better as well.
