Icon Airflite Helmet Issue On Naked Bikes

- I talk about one of the issues I'm having with the Icon Airflite Helmet. Do you find yourself having this issue? Is it only for the hyper-naked bikes
The look of these helmets look absolutely insane! However I'm having one issue with it
Edit* I believe the rear spoiler on the helmet is what was mainly causing this issue
So does that mean that you removed it and you no longer have that phenomenon?
Yes the helmet is heavier than others. And I don't have that problem. I ride a 650 ninja, and it has an upright seating position. No problems. My only complaint is that the helmet does not block that much sound.
Icon Airflite is one of my favorite helmets. I absolutely have no issues with it. Ride in all types of weather with it.
Sometimes, but it’s also super loud, leaves my ears ringing every time, decided to buy a new helmet
Well even motoGP helmets, if you angle to catch wind, they'll have the same problem....
Thing is some helmets are made to be ridden looking a bit down more than others, who are constructed at a downward facing angle.
Thing is, the smaller you are (and vertical standing on a bike), the more this problem apears :P.
I have Icon Airflite, and it doesn't catch wind
Yeah I definitely the rider position plays the biggest part. The only complaint besides wind noise I've seen other people complain about is that its slightly on the heavier side
@@touchofturbo Yeah, it's one of the heaviest.....but that's because it has a lot of padding and a huge faceshield.... It fits well, so I don't complain. My enduro competition lid is almost the same weight.
I noticed that when I installed the airfoil on top of the helmet it helps a lot.👍
Are you talking about the air foil/wing on the back (like in the video) or are you talking the other one that has multiple channels and whatnot? I know your comment is at least a year old but hopefully you'll see this.

I have Icon Airflite peacemaker and a ZX10R and no problems, great hemlet
My issues with this helmet:
- putting it on I feel like the helmet will tear off my ears
- it looks HUGE
- there is too much air right into my eyes. even if I close the vent
I can see that being an issue forsure
I have this helmet and I only have a few issues. Most minor is the design with the top vents and the sunglass/inner visor. When the visor is closed it blocks the vents so to get full airflow the inner visor has to be down. Two is I notice it is more difficult than other helmets to get a full head turn with this helmet like it his my shoulders but that could be my riding position, (Harley Iron 1200) and my body build and lastly it fits nice and goes on easily but I feel like I am ripping my ears off every time I take the helmet off. Overall it’s an alright helmet but I will look for something else for my next helmet. I’m in Oklahoma too btw, up near the Oklahoma Kansas border and the weather is indeed nuts.
I ride a Z900 and I don't have an issue with that or any buffeting but my leather jacket has a hump in the back so that helps tremendously and I have the stock windscreen on my bike

Icon helmet is the worst helmet I ever used. so heavy helmet you will have strong neck pain. Always go to AGV helmets.
Could it be that the mouth vents is causing air to flow upwards like that? I know you can close the mouth vents but I like the airflow.
I have that exact bike in that color and am considering that helmet.
Problem fix: buy a better quality helmet, I used to use icon but when I bought a Bell Race Star I realized why they are so expensive because they are so good.
Key placement on that Yamaha is odd.
Yeah I agree it feels a little off
The new Mt 07’s are terrible with wind. So, it has a lot to do with the bike

I know this video is at least a year old but I have this helmet. I don't have issues with the wind trying to pull my head back (most likely just the riding position like you've mentioned, I'm on a 2014 HP4) but as other have commented it is a pretty heavy helmet but my main complaint (also as others have noted) is noise. Holy shit this helmet is bad for noise. And airflow leaves a lot to be desired as well. Other than that though, I love it. I am definitely going to try what one commenter said that if you have the internal visor down the airflow is a lot better. I hardly ever use it so if it helps with airflow I'll probably just remove it altogether and save some weight while I'm at it.
Get an Shoe RF 1400 there all sold out where I live so picked this helmet up because of price. Shoe makes the best quality best of luck

Nice helmet but to loud
its the naked bike.....no wind protection, i have a couple helmets and they both work better with head pointed down......another thing is buy smallest helmet you can fir your melon in.....helmet should be pretty tight, almost uncomfortable before it breaks in properly
but yeah Icon isnt really a premium helmet nor is it very light......
naked bikes are brutal in the wind.....nothing gonna change that....keep face angled down.....better helmets have better aerodynamics and its noticeable as i have cheaper ones and a higher end helmet.....but still wind is brutal
buy a size smaller than you think you need....most buy helmets 1 or 2 sizes too large for their head......more noise, wind, and if you crash the helmet will just twist on our head.......cant stress it enough
Take the spoiler off, it puts down force on the back of the helmet. That will help a bit

Yes to some degree, but some more than others. For example the AGV helmet in my other video is much more aerodynamic. With the icon I think it depends on what bike you ride also and your riding position
