  • I forgot how loud my keyboard was in the background when i recorded my audio so i apologize in advance for the clicking, Hope I shed some light on how the time gating needs to stop in d2 so that it doesnt become a mobile game, in that you only play last minute for all the content rather than being awarded for putting time in the game

Hard agree on your points. The absolute worst part is that it's pointless to even get any more xp until act 2 since you don't even rank up anymore past 100. That and artifact power is 2.5mil xp now per rank.

Yeah I really can’t understand who gave the “okay” for this act garbage, might be the heads trying to get more player retention but i am a consumer and this is trash

Your xp still adds bonus levels and by leveling now you'll get all those rewards immediately upon act 2 release. Im 120 now

First off, the new "seasons" are called episodes not echoes. Echoes is the name of the current episode. Not a big issue but I think making sure we're all on the same page and using the same terms is important.
I agree that timers in video games are always stressful and if that's making the activities worse for you then that's valid. I don't have any issue with timed activities but then again I haven't interacted with the new episodic activities much.
I was planning this comment while I was watching your video, and one of the thinks I kept thinking until the last few minutes was that you didn't raise any actual issues with the time gated battlepass. It seemed like your only issue with it was on principle, that you hated it purely because you dislike the idea of time gated content. That's a fair opinion to have and honestly I would normally agree. In fact, you and I disagree on time gated activities in general. I'm always of the opinion that content shouldn't be locked away from someone just because they didn't have the time to play that week or whatever.
Later, the only real argument against the time gated battlepass that I heard was that blocking sections of the battlepass until later means players have no reason to play until all the sections have been fully unlocked. This, to me, is what made me finally understand your video. You probably play Destiny a lot. You probably even grind out all the ranks in the battlepass every season/episode. It is clear to me that you have enough free-time to play Destiny whenever you want, and the idea of grinding out 200 ranks of a battlepass in one month is completely fine to you.
However, I think what your video is missing is that many people in the player base don't have that kind of time on their hands. I love Destiny, and I've played it since the Taken King in D1, but nowadays sitting down and just playing Destiny for hours can be very tiring even though I enjoy it so much. And the fact that so much of my limited time is taken up by playing weighs pretty heavily on me sometimes.
I get your point, but at most the time gating of the battlepass is neutral. It only hinders the people who play Destiny all the time and even then, you were going to grind all the ranks anyways why does it matter when you do it?
Your argument about burnout nearing the end of the video is also just weird to me? You say that the time gated battlepass will bring about burnout while actively calling for people to just do all the episodic content in one month. Don't you think that will lead to more burnout? Don't you think seperating the episode into chunks could actually alleviate some of those burnout issues?
Anyways, sorry for the wall of text, I just thought it had to be said. If you think I'm entirely wrong then feel free to reply. Otherwise you're free to ignore my comment.

Not gonna respond to much but heres a quick response, people want to play content when the content comes out and burnout will happen to people who have been playing for years, my point it is becoming more and more obvious to play only the last month where all the rewards are available, playing any sooner and the risk or burnout in the seasonal activity’s are much higher because you needing to go back to it every week and treating like a daily rewards mission from a game like genshin or wuwa where every day there is 4 small missions to do, idk about everyone else but that burns me out more than anything, when I come on to do the same thing day after day or week after week for the same year after year with these seasonal activities. The most efficient way to not have that feel is to ignore the activity until everything is available, which takes 2-3 months, kind of insane imo
