I teared up too. It's kinda hard not to if you've been playing for years. Especially if you started with D1 this is the end of an era, and an epic story we got to be a part of. That final cutscene of the Guardian with the vanguard hit so hard too. What a journey folks
I joined Destiny when it came to PC and I have been kicking myself that I didn’t just get a damned console and play D1. I have too many hours for a 63 year old and tbh, this game has helped me through some tough times. I still choke up a little in that final seen with Cayde. Nice to see others get some of those same feels. Thanks Bungie and Thanks Datto. See ya in the tower.
28:35 I really like that they included Archie. After Seraph, he’s now the last part of Rasputin left after his sacrifice, which was one of the reasons the Traveler chose to stay and fight for humanity, and that eventually led to us defeating the Witness. Having him included is a nice callback and how he was a key part in the saga.
it's been understood that the Traveler wasn't leaving but was preparing to confront the Witness, it couldn't leave because it was cornered, and knew we were its best shot
Gotta wonder how much the VAs were really invested in the Destiny story though. I mean, they obviously knew a good deal about it since they literally memorized the lines, but I mean how much they were into it.
They brought all the right bangers for the cutscenes, the original loading theme/orbit screen and so much more i cant even remember the name of, just the memories associated with
The song that starts at 29:25 got me more than everything else tbh. I was weakened by everything before it, but the song specifically made me weep. It's a bittersweet rendition of some of the OG D1 theme music that reminded me of so many ups and downs that I've had while playing this game for a decade. It brought all of the emotions from the latter half of the campaign together in one succinct moment, and I applaud Bungie for their work on TFS.
I cried when I did the activity 10 years of my life have finally come to a close I actually almost feel like a new person Ik I’m not but idk if I’d be alive without destiny and met my best friend ever through it I’m so happy to have been apart of this moment in time with you all
As a conclusion to now over a decade of Destiny storytelling, the ending hit me in the feels, too. I was barely able to keep from crying myself. I'm confident that if I hadn't played it solo, and instead had my homies in a fireteam and saw them sitting next to me at the end screen, I would have been crying as well. I haven't tested it yet, but I do hope we can replay the mission to get back to that "Sitting Down" screen. I'm only 27, so this marks off close to half my life leaving and coming back to Destiny. Thanks for being there, Datto.
It was hearing the D1 tower music that did it for me. Made me realize how long this game has been a part of my life. It’s been a ride. Ready for what’s next whatever that is
Jez decided to leave his PvP rotted brain in his ship when he dropped in to the mission apprantely. "Are we supposed to kill anything or...?" LMFAO brother I feel sorry for this fireteam ☠️😆😆
That intro cutscene was fan service and hype. "Get me EVERYONE." When Big Z slams into that front line, LFG. We got a wannabe God to kill. If you didn't cry or tear up at least once during this finale, You're a cold hearted person. Cayde being my Ghost is perfect. It's about right. I've not played it since. And if I don't play D2 again, I'll be very happy. It has ended in the right way for me.
Bungie at their best. Zavala's speech is right up there with "Independence Day" and "Cancelling the Apocalypse". Bungie is really good at making these "Let's Do This Thing!" moments in their games.
That cut scene is insane just saying seeing Sav hovering above that army made me think If she did anything she would go from powerful hive To SWISS CHESS!
"Ah guardian there you are..." broke me down when I hugged my ghost. They really wrapped this story up so nicely while still giving us some open ends for new futures.

The fact that the final FINAL song is from a vidoc for destiny 1 updated is great
I get teary watching this, every time. It was so amazing, and Keith David knocked it out of the park as Zavala.
The Howard Dean “Byah!” on melees is never gonna get old.
Watching this a month-ish later, still getting teary eyed. Well done, Bungie.
the genuine smile and giddy giggles throughout the whole thing brought a smile to my face lol
it still hurts seeing that end
new emotional beat benchmark: "must have datto deathgripping his armrest while keeping himself together"
I was so drunk when I did this, that the next day I had to text my friend “hey want to reschedule us playing the final mission? sorry i went to bed”
i had literally no recollection lmao
I remember my first beer….
@brendonmartin1658 good for you?
@@KWCHope I’m assuming a lot of jokes go over your head?
@@brendonmartin1658 I'm assuming you get this alot then lol
Watching a Datto video just to feel something
I teared up too. It's kinda hard not to if you've been playing for years. Especially if you started with D1 this is the end of an era, and an epic story we got to be a part of. That final cutscene of the Guardian with the vanguard hit so hard too. What a journey folks
6:05 my guy you ran past the rally 🤣
I joined Destiny when it came to PC and I have been kicking myself that I didn’t just get a damned console and play D1.
I have too many hours for a 63 year old and tbh, this game has helped me through some tough times. I still choke up a little in that final seen with Cayde. Nice to see others get some of those same feels.
Thanks Bungie and Thanks Datto.
See ya in the tower.
Beautiful.
The D1 launch music was so important to me too.
❤
28:35 I really like that they included Archie. After Seraph, he’s now the last part of Rasputin left after his sacrifice, which was one of the reasons the Traveler chose to stay and fight for humanity, and that eventually led to us defeating the Witness. Having him included is a nice callback and how he was a key part in the saga.
it's been understood that the Traveler wasn't leaving but was preparing to confront the Witness, it couldn't leave because it was cornered, and knew we were its best shot
In my head canon Osiris turned around, saw Nimbus, turned back around and rolled his eyes
I am so sad that Lance Reddick didn't get to see the ending to the light and darkness saga
Gotta wonder how much the VAs were really invested in the Destiny story though. I mean, they obviously knew a good deal about it since they literally memorized the lines, but I mean how much they were into it.
@@jacob042 lance played the game, if I remember correctly he was playing lightfall the day before he died
The cayde goodbye with the radio is lore accurate lmao
I've already seen the cut scene and rewatching it still makes me tear up 😢
They brought all the right bangers for the cutscenes, the original loading theme/orbit screen and so much more i cant even remember the name of, just the memories associated with
The song that starts at 29:25 got me more than everything else tbh.
Ready for what’s next whatever that is
That radio message “the best bet I ever lost” I audibly yelled out “fuuuuuck” just pain is all I felt
I love how the pyrogale effects were bugging in the cutscene lmao
I just realized this now "there you are" is the first thing ghost said to us in the very beginning 😭
35:55 This sums up the group dynamic perfectly
Jez having paid enough attention to say "No he's MY ghost" is honestly impressive
"Ok well now we're chatting in orbit" took me out 😭💀
For me if a game make me tear up it has a special place in my heart and destiny is one of them
I was hoping for this video to get posted
12:00 I think the new origin trait made a pool of radiolaria on a multikill, but that one spot just infinitely spawned fanatics, which died, exploded, and retriggered the radiolaria multikill effect.
"Look at them, they are all lvl6." "So am I!" "Oh yeah."
The finale of Final Shape was everything I've ever wanted from a videogame story.
Thank you, Datto, for sharing your passion for this game with all of us. It is thanks in great part to you that I was able to be a part of this experience. It has been one incredible journey for everyone, and here's to another great journey to come.
The end of Excision was the first time in a decade that a Destiny story made me feel any genuine emotion other than apathy.
So you’ve continued to play the game for literally its entire lifetime despite not caring about anything?
@@waverider4524the gameplay has always been top tier. Me and my friends played it for that reason. The story didn't matter cause I enjoyed the moment to moment action with my friends. The story being good just makes it that much better.
2:34 Zavala announces that if you're not a guardian, you're on ad clear.
Nah, he announces that they _ARE_ the Guardian's ads...
37:20 with the "start with many people, then be alone/with fireteam only" thing. Didn't that happen in the Red War, on the last mission? Wasn't the first part of the final mission like a "patrol zone" version of the Last City, then you go off on your own to find the Vanguard and put a bullet in Gary's head?
Final beam at the end of the fight is such a dragon ball kamehameha
26:10 - There they are. Thems the feels.
Dude me and my wife both cried. 10 years of our lives came to a close. It was a beautiful moment. 10/10 Bungie. Can’t wait to see the next chapter.
I'm so glad that both my little brothers, checked out Destiny 1, played it through, loved it, and kept with it even after it almost died, and now we're still fighting today as a fireteam, I'm the Hunter, my youngest is the Warlock, and the other our Muscle, the Titan :)
