Eren’s story isn’t over yet…
With the confirmation that Attack on Titan is returning on the 4th of March, this video is long overdue with part 3 of the final season looming just around the corner. So apparently the first half of the final season part 3 will be formatted into a 1 hour TV special. What comes after is still ambiguous whether it's normal-length episodes or another TV special to wrap up the series is unknown. Now without a doubt, this is a little suspicious.
I don't think this confirms whether we will get an anime original ending or not, but if there is going to be one then I can imagine why a one-hour special could work to surprise everyone at once instead of it being episodic and one due who like an episode a head spoils it for the people catching up.
Whether it’s this upcoming 1 hour TV special that changes the ending or not is still up in the air so don’t get your hopes high.

I don't care what the animation leaks show now or later on. It's not over until the final episode drops later in the year. I don't see why any of the manga ending specific stuff can't be shown in AOE.
Anime Eren could recall the manga timeline and those memories so he can explain the whole timeline stuff.

It's an Anime Original Ending (AOE), it's gonna be the final episode before we find out if we are in the 3rd time-line.
it would be SOOO ENTERTAINING if they did nothing to the ending and just made it play out the way it did in the manga. i can just imagine twitter blowing up. of course id like an ending i actually like but honestly my hope has disintegrated long ago. i just want good animation so im happy with the split part

The term is derived from the 1950 Japanese film Rashomon.
The ending of Rashomon has no clear resolution.
The last scene is a man who walk away from Rashomon cradling a baby in his arms.
A man cradling a baby in his arms is the sketch of the ending that Isayama drew in the TV program(2018).
"You are free" is written in the speech balloon.
It is the last panel which he had prepared for the ending at the time.
It would have been so nice if the moment that Mikasa cut Eren's head and kissed him he suddenly woke up as a kid sitting on the tree and mikasa was just staring at him and he was so afraid. And at that moment everything flashes forward up to the point where eren kisses Historia's hand implying that is what eren saw at that point. That he knew he was stuck on a time loop. Over and over. Mikasa then wakes eren into a different timeline that was shown in the manga where mikasa and eren were living peacefully together. They will have a small talk where they talk about how good their life could have been. But they could never have that life because they can never be free. No Matter how hard they try. No matter how many times mikasa kills eren to save him again and again. Eren will never be free. It is then revealed that both of them knew that this happened before again and again. And this reality is the reality they both wished they had but they can never have no matter how much they reset the timeline. That's why mikasa will say to eren that she will now set him free. Because no matter how many times mikasa tries to save eren they will always end up in the same ending where mikasa kills eren. Thats why she says its time to end this and she will now set eren free. Mikasa kisses eren And that's where we are gonna get tossed back to the future once again where mikasa is kissing eren but instead of eren dying mikasa stabs herself while kissing eren. To set eren free. This scenery wasn't set into any other timeline. Eren has the power to see all future present and past but in every infinite timeline that eren knows he always dies at the end and is reawakened back as a child where the first thing he sees is mikasa.. this breaks the time loop and breaks all reality and the three itself collapse and converged into one branch. It will then show all shards of different memories that weren't in the anime nor manga where everything will be explained and what had been happening that they were stuck on a time loop. We will then see that the timeline where eren currently resides on is now slowly being erased. all reality is being erased. until everything is black. Eren then wakes up happily as if he wakes up to a beautiful dream. He then sees historya and their child ymir showing his dad her drawings that are seemingly titans. Ymir tells his father that she drew giants that saves humanity and gives everyone freedom. Eren tells her how silly her daughter was. He then stood up looking at the horizon. There are no walls. No titans. Everything is peaceful. There is no war. No hate. No eldians nor marleans. A gust of wind suddenly flew by and a bird dropped what seemed to be a worn red scarf. He was confused but he had a feeling that it's familiar to him that it belongs to someone special to him and he is very thankful to whoever that person is. Then he looked at the bird again smiling and thanked it as the camera pans up following the bird as it flies freely into the sky. Now i really dont understand what im saying at this point nor i have the mental capacity to create a better ending for aot but it could have been cool if something like this happens
in the second half you kinda lost ur steam bud if that was the ending then it’ll be worse than the first since it’ll not solve anything and will legit hurt the story more than help it, but the first half of your theory would be sick to see specially if they pulled another season 3 part 1 ed where things looks like they’re glitchig and whatnot. but to be honest, it’ll be best if Eren did not have any kid.
It's just sad tho, their friends and Paradis will crumble if Eren and Mikasa choose to be together. And to prevent that they need to go on seperate ways despite loving each other.
Also meanwhile, Mikasa wanting to still be with Eren trapped Eren in the loop where inevitably he will repeat his mistake and die.
Only way for Eren to break the loop and save their friends and Paradis is for both of them to accept they weren't meant to be together

If AOE happens, it's important to understand that there's a 0% chance it's gonna call attention to the fact that the ending is different. That is because most of the watchers haven't read the manga, so doing it would alienate most of the viewers. It has to be an ending that makes sense and works without the manga, which is why it's not possible that they will do the entire manga ending and then do a fake-out to the "true" ending. If it's gonna happen, there will be a divergence without any attention called to it.
Most Muv Luv players played alternative first yet understood the story. It just requires good execution. This why I’ve been saying the timeline stuff would need explanatory scenes and Eren recalling the manga etc. I don’t think they’d do it without context.
@@KingBullet123 I'm kind of divided on this thought because on the one hand, I know how influential Muv Luv was to Isayama. Also, he would be one of the few authors I can think of that would do such a thing. But on the other one, the fact manga and anime are different media entirely and there are a lot of people who watch anime but don't watch manga makes this situation very different from Muv Luv. I think it could work, sure, but I just wonder how much effort would it take to execute it properly while also making it clear it's different from the source material.
On another note, this has little to do with your video, honestly, which was really good. Even though I'm not an aoe believer, I thought it was the right balance of theory without being too desperate at grasping for proofs. Great work!
the manga has been out for years already, not the Author's fault that the "fans" don't know how to go online, buy digital copies or read scans

I appreciate this discussion you've made, including your arguments. Personally, I took Eren (ch. 139 paths) as being Eren right before death (literally a millisecond) or even at the time of confirmed death because as we know, time works differently in paths. I think that's how he knew 80% of the world was gone because the Eren that talks to Armin from paths is the one that completed the mission (that being, stop the titan threat and curse forever, by mission I mean the main mission. Wiping out the rest of the world was more driven by Eren's feelings to save Paradise while being the threat that would ultimately lead to Mikasa making the ultimate sacrifice for herself, ending the titan threat in the process.). This also leads me to believe Eren (before 139 meaning not before death) didn't actually know the results the rumbling would actually bring. That's why this is such a jarring change of pace. I honestly believe Eren saw the future leading up to his death (scattered and hard to understand the finer details due to things happening at the past present and future at the same time in paths) and it wasn't until he was killed that he was able to gain an insight into what happened. This makes sense too because Eren is connected to all the colossal titans in the rumbling because of the founder's power. I think this is one of many things that needs to be explained further to have a masterpiece of an ending that we all know has potential for.
After Ymir died, and found herself at the coordinate. It was just a trunk. The moment her three daughters ate her remains, the top of the trunk grew thre branches. That was the moment Ymir got aware of it.
At the late manga, after about 140 generations (of 13 years each) or 2000 years the coordinate is branched out a manifold of times. All connected. So of course past titans can respawn as their memory never left the coordinate. Its like the subjects of Ymir, that had titan abilities, became over dimensional.

I think in season 4 part 3 mappa is either going to change the chronology of some scenes in the long episode or they are going to increase the pace of the story or make the episode longer than 60 minutes.

A lot of us really believed in it but after the recent reveals, it is no longer a possibility it seems. Sad as it is, it made me really sad to watch all that.

I hate the current manga trend that's going on now where everyone feels like- the story can only end in two ways and that's either with every side character dying or the main character dying themselves. Murdering all the characters people have come to love and enjoy in a brutal fashion and having a bleak/bittersweet ending doesn't automatically make a story good and people who think that because there aren't always happy endings in real life that the story is some sort of profound piece of art is the "emo kid stating how sad and emo they are" of the manga/anime community.

@@KingBullet123 it has to be 137 zeke dies and the past titans help armin which can’t happen in the anime. Especially zeke dying stops the rumbling. That’s why I believe at worst 137 should be the complete divergence from the manga. I was hoping earlier chapters but it seems most things will remain the same with minor dialogue and scene changes and additions until then. But we won’t know anyway until we see it

The third timeline doesn’t exist. We don’t see Eren with red coat until it comes back to the wide shot of the anime. So the Mikasa grabbing Eren’s head could still be original cabin timeline.

I'm no theorist, but Isayama did talk about a different ending in anime interviews back in 2013, and maintained that in such while he went back to talking about his original ending in manga ones. The manga did indeed deliver on his original ending, so we'll just have to see what's going on with the anime.

1) he only said he changed the ending in interviews for anime mediums
2) If you read all his manga interviews, he constantly mentioned his original ending over the years, plus chp 138 proven that in spades also. As for that "The Mist" scenario, I'd advise you to read HOW he was inspried from it, namely in terms of its MC and the ending, and then look into how he said "Eren is back" in the manga. Its amazing how EVERYONE misses The Mist inspiration in the ending lol

First let me say I do like the manga ending and would be completely happy if they just adapt it 1 to 1. But I am still open to the possibility of an AoE and a huge fan of the multiple timeline theory! That's why I really enjoy these videos. The amount of information gathered from such small details at times is astonishing! Big props to that. Your videos were one of the best of all the AoE content I've seen yet.
Obviously you have a lot of passion for AoT but are completely unsatisfied about the ending, which is totally okay! It is your right to be dissapointed and not like it. But I do have to criticize one thing. You said "Isayama hates it when characters become pointless to their own story. Has he not described manga Eren? Isayama portraits the manga ending as some sort of joke". Just for the possibility of no AoE and the manga ending being the canon and only ending for the story that Isayama wanted to write, you disrespected him and his story with that sentence. For someone who likes the series that much to put so much effort into theorizing etc. it's just unnecesarry hate towards him. Also if I remember correctly (could definitely be wrong) Isayama stated that he only regrets the portrayal of Armin in the last chapter (and of course dissapointing his fans but that is bound to happen with such a large fanbase).
IMO Eren didn't became pointless to his own story in the end. He achieved his freedom, he eliminated the curse of the titans freeing Ymir and saving his friends from dying early, he killed enough of humanity that his friends could live a long and happy life (just like he wanted, his friends are the most precious thing to him). The attack on paradis just started after Mikasa died of old age (and so did all of his friends probably).
Paradis getting destroyed again is just fitting with the overall theme of history repeating itself. Humanity making the same mistakes. Cycle of hatred continuing... Erwin himself even stated that there will always be war as long as there are 2 humans on earth. Even if Eren went through with a complete rumbling, eventually Paradis would start a fight with each other. And the little boy stumbling upon the tree and possibly a new beginning to the Titan curse is also fitting IMO because the Hallucigenia thing was just something biological that existed and morphed with Ymir. So it coming back would definitely be a possibility I could see.
That is my rough take on the ending. If anyone has some other interpretations feel free to discuss or correct me if I'm wrong. I would be glad if everyone stays respectful, because I am open to hear out all opinions

Yeah, i can see another cycle of hate towards isayama and mappa too if they decide to go manga ending, i love the manga ending cuz there r many layers to it my only complaint was the pacing. I know u love the series and want is to end on a note that u find satisfying, but sometimes it should be okay to accept things as they are. Im pretty sure there is no aoe cuz the pacing would get real messed up if they follow manga but give alternate timeline at ending at the same time. Leaks backa me up but it will be upon u guys if u get disappointed if we get manga ending.

Imagine the following: anime finale airs and follows everything happening in the manga to a T, including chapter 139 and the extra pages.
We then cut to the last panel of that kid who is probably a descendant of Mikasa walking towards the tree where Eren's head is.
And then, before everyone and their mother descends into depression, we see Eren saying something along the lines of: "that's one of the futures I saw" or something like that.
And then we get the real ending. This is pretty much hopium and copium on crack but if Isayama pulls something like this, he's gonna go down in the history books as one of the best mangakas ever.

Hey Bro do you know Rachel Aaron the author of the first official aot novel she had some really interesting things to say.. regarding her time with kodancha and Isayama to the point to where she wanted to add Erwin to her novel but they said no because of a “reason”and kodancha even saying that it was for the “Manga timeline” I shit you not kodancha referred to the manga as manga timeline I got links to the Reddit post of all the questions she answered it’s fucking crazy! Another AOE hint for me is in the S4P2 OP at the point where (the beat drops) current time Eren changes into kid Eren it also shows kid Eren slashing down with a knife making it look like he's cutting off his own hair and in japanese culture cutting off ones hair is symbolical for parting ways with the old and starting anew

If AOE happens cool, but if it doesn't happen and it follows the Manga don't go crying cause your hyped up AOE never came to light. We don’t really know how much longer it was it was, shortly after Mikasa death presumably looking and the rapid carpet bombing tech. However Paradis Island was destroyed as said by Erens last words to Historia. About either completely destroying them or they would completely destroy the island. Only one side could be left to end the conflict.

How is it bad lol. We already saw the manga ending. And they could still have a flashback of Eren seeing the manga ending as well. I think its much better than the manga ending and it makes way more sense too given what they have done with the anime adaptation.

I don't believe any AOE will happen. What happened was what needed to happen. If Eren isn't kill by Mikasa, getting over her love to kill him, Ymir will never see the example of overcoming she needed to overcome her "love" for fritz, hence not accepting her freedom and not putting an end to the titan powers., so the cycle of violence would continue.
The problem is Isayama made it extremely clear that Mikasa never got over or separated from Eren. What Ymir was needed was freedom which we never did achieve.
Hence the cycle of violence continues and it’s implied the Titan cycle restarts. So an AOE is required for closure.

Idk if what he’s intended tbh. Almost all of Isayama’s inspirations have alternate endings. It could be a weird coincidence but that’s up to you.
AOE isn’t about wether the ending is good or not. It’s rather about why an alternate ending makes sense with all the clues given.
As much as I want an AOE, the recent updates from the artists and merchandises show it is no longer possible. They literally showed those cursed face and pics. Yuck.

@@KingBullet123 only if the manga timeline is actuated in the series. A lot of simple details were made in the anime which made me hope for an AOE. And the reason I believe that can not happen in AOT is the time frame. The amount of time for 2 cours most likely not be enough to adapt something like recalling old timeline and changing it. Hopefully I am totally off the mark with this one.
I have no doubt it was the orginal ending but Isayama has changed it because he's a wetwipe it's not happening

Well do you know Rachel Aaron the author of the first official aot novel she had some really interesting things to say.. regarding her time with kodancha and Isayama to the point to where she wanted to add Erwin to her novel but they said no because of a “reason”and kodancha even saying that it was for the “Manga timeline” I shit you not kodancha referred to the manga as manga timeline I got links to the Reddit post of all the questions she answered it’s fucking crazy! So yes AOE is definitely a possibility man
