no not really, there were a lot of discussions in season 2 and 3. they were done really well. thats why no one complained. im not saying mappa is trash. they are good, they barely got any time to work on it. but the episodes do feel kinda boring compared to any episode from season 1, 2 and 3. the old director was really good.

I didn’t want to read the manga because i wanted to be surprised as anime only. Has it been really that bad? I haven’t watched season 2 yet because I was waiting to binge watch, but hearing that a couple of arcs have been skipped really worries me. Promised Neverland became one of my top favorite shows in no time.

they skipped an arc where there was build up to meeting Norman again. Imagine it's like in aot Carla (erens mom) gets eaten and he immediately jumps to Marley and destroy it. That's what it felt like
It's really sad and ironic that present Historia looks like her mother before Kenny took her life. Sad, emotionless expression, absent gaze. It went literally full circle... She may be a queen, but is the one getting used in the grand scheme of things.
Actually she looks more like Ymir (Fritz) when she was pregnant at the time as it even was compared in a few of his videos. Also Alma was none of that as her expression when she died. When she scolded Historia, probably, but definitely not when she died.

This is why the Uprising Arc was butchered in anime version for Season 3. All these people want is action. Story telling, interesting dialogue, themes are the backbone of the series. Action acts as a complementary element.

This is so underrated!
Yeah I just hope that some of these cut out scenes are shown in later episode. Remember when we almost got mad cuz MAPPA didn't animate the crawling pieck scene, only to shown it in the next episode? Yeah
But that scene was unnecessary, only thirty Pieck fans wanted that to fap to her animated ass.
Pieck already mentioned in an episode before that she's not used to being bipedal anymore, so anime Users already know she's not used to walking upright.
However some things cut from this episode are actually really good for some characters, especially Armin, to understand them
people were not mad about pieck's ass scene, they were mad about how reiner flashback was butchered to the point that it makes no sense at some parts

The only important thing to me personally that was removed was Zeke’s backstory on why he switched on his parents. Other than that, everything else was calm. It was just a simplified discussion of what was in the manga. The Zeke thing might reappear later on.

Once saw a picture online of Eren holding a baby and saying (in japanese), "now you are free." Caption said it was the last picture in the manga the writer isayama planned to draw. Not sure if it was Historia's baby but I do believe if that picture is true, the Eren has to be the father. The baby had black hair in the picture. The picture itself was black and white though. The only possible candidate to give birth for now with 5 episodes to finale is Historia.
Eren holding baby (quite possibly HIS) + pregnant queen (only pregnant lady in finale season) = Eren is Baby Daddy.

I kinda accept that the AoT anime will shorten exposition scenes. It happens quite a lot. I am just glad Season 4 gave us these little details and improvements. This week may not have been my favorite or a top episode among season 4 but it was good content with MAPPA's best backgrounds so far. That sunset and full moon are too gorgeous.

I really enjoyed this episode. I’m liking the slower pace to piece together the events that happened in the 4 year time skip. It is a shame that so much was cut but these videos do help as you said. I’ll have to go back and read the manga once the show is over.
Dont know why but when Foxen told that Eldian have common languages like other around the world is removed in anime its bugging me.. I think it was an important line for the world building of Attack On Titan...

What the fu-
Liked the pace, and even though a lot was cut it seemed to focus on the right parts.
As an anime only watcher, they’ve made it very obvious what Zeke’s secret is. They love to foreshadow and it’s quite impressive they’ve managed to make it that obvious despite missing as you said around 13/14 pages of dialogue.

The important stuff about the founding Titan and Zeke will most definitely pop up later and prolly some other small details. Almost everything that that was cut were nice details but didn’t really lose anything besides some slightly rushed pacing during the first half of the episode.

It's always how they cut-off so much dialogues. Idk if it matters but as a manga reader I think dialogues should be much more given attention especially this is the final season where we get much more details about the story.

The only cut content I have a problem with is Armin mentioning how Eren would be the one to control the Founding Titan powers if he and Zeke were to make contact with one another. I'm a manga reader, but I forget a lot of the little details like that from chapters I read so long ago. Just seeing that moment in the anime made me infuriated with Armin's resolve to kill Eren prematurely while barely showing any hope for or trust in his childhood friend to simply be fighting on their side.

The thing that confused me about this episode was what was the present time and what was flashbacks?
I’m assuming the scenes with Eren in the cell is the present and the negotiation scenes are flashbacks? And of course the railway building scene is a flashback

Holy shit, as an anime-only i didn't even feel like the episode was rushed! Compared to that other episode that felt like they were speedrunning the anime.
@CLEMY LiVES On Yeah but for me, it feels pretty good. Just goes to show they did pretty good with the episode. I think what made me not think that they cut out much was with the comedy.
Man, the parts they cut off were really important to contextualize and give people a better understanding, I'am dissapointed about that. Idk how are they going to adapt the rest of the series in 16 episodes and I mean, to the closest climax, which would be 117>, there are definitily cutting off more :(
There’s no way this season will just be 16 episodes. There’s gotta be a part 2. And they made part 1 have 16 episodes so that they can give us a cliffhanger with episode 16 ending right at the end of ch 119. That’s what I think at least

8:53 if you look at the mysterious figure with the hoodie, I think it’s Eren because if you look at the season 4 trailer, you’ll see Eren putting on a similar hoodie. That’s just what I think tho.
