They should have listened to the rest of what he had to say instead of talking over him. I tried to keep listening after that, but this was the first episode I'm not feeling.
I felt this caller was treated very poorly. The caller tried hard to share, while deep questions were being fired at him. It’s a tough employment market out there.
To the first caller - I'm autistic too. Personally I never mention this on my resume, application or at interview because some people don't understand it and might come to incorrect conclusions. What I noticed about myself is my eye contact used to be really bad. I've now practised and although its still an effort nobody would notice. Ask your friends and ex colleagues to be really honest and point out anything that might be hindering you. Also accepted you might just be struggling because they see a really smart guy and question why you want an entry levels job. The solution to that might be to have 2 resumes. One for the job you really want and a more basic version for the stop gap job.
Thank you for the advice. I haven’t really had any interviews recently so I guess I have to make it to that step before I can implement this advice. I don’t really think anything hinders me. I’m just not given the opportunity since I apply and apply and just get rejection after rejection
For the over qualification: Maybe not include sophisticated degrees on your resume that goes to a "simple" job. Just put the necessary info and a small extra value on what you can bring in. Maybe instead of saying you have a degree, say you have some experience with the subject or that you are interested it in. For Packing meals your degree simply might not be relevant. Hope you folks find what you are looking for!🙏🏼
This is the best advice yet. I wrote same above. Leave off the college advanced degree. Say you’re looking to work long term in managerial and planning to work up to that. It might be true.
I’m the first caller. I don’t tell people I have autism or include it on applications. Nobody ever knows unless I tell them. It doesn’t affect me. I also asked my wife about what she means about the 9 on a scale of 1-10 thing and she tells me that I have a short temper. While I do agree with this to a certain extent, we are currently in an employer market. I am not getting interviews as much as I may have presented and I know it’s not me. It’s this job market. As far as looking for other jobs outside of the field goes, I know I’d have to dumb down my resume and leave my education off of it if I want to find “something” for now. I do just wish you let me finish and say what I had to say before you told me that I’m not trying. I go out there every day and try to work Uber or Grubhub or DoorDash from 11am-3am 16 hours a day just to make the bare minimum. Thank you for the book though. Can’t wait to read it
@@harknowhere If you are truly diagnosed with autism, please provide some reading material for your wife, because having a short temper is not what autism is. Hey man- the advice I wish they had shared with you is this; stop listing your education on the hourly job apps. My wife and I own a restaurant and the problem with an applicant like you is that you are very obviously a temporary employee. We shy away from “over qualified” applicants because we know our costs to train and on board someone. It may feel dishonest but it’s not. You have to take care of your family at all costs. If you’re applying for a stocker position at Walmart, they don’t need to know you have a masters in UX design. I’m sorry your call was so poorly handled, I think Dave would have treated you much better.

Regarding putting the house in a trust - there are some places where you pay lower property taxes on your primary residence (versus a second home, rental property, etc.), and having the house in the name of a trust may disqualify you from the tax break. (We just learned this when we made that mistake!) Talk to a local attorney and make sure to ask about any effects on property taxes.
I am in the same position. You are overqualified for normal jobs. They cannot scream at highly educated people that’s the problem. Plus no connections!

Jeez Ken overpowering the entire time and not letting George or the caller talk. On the financial questions he says a bunch of nothing let George do what he does best
It means instead of paying tax now you pay more tax later when the rates are higher. 401K is great for NON savers but unnecessary for alot of people. Merely an escrow fund for retirement.
That LAST CALLER can’t be “for real”… and I think you ran short on a caller to fill in that last space, and you quickly threw together a COMEDY ROUTINE to end the program with a Big Hoot!! I see right through you guys !!!! Hahaha!!! 🤣🤪

I don’t follow the feedback for the last caller - pension + SS is $9,500 a month, plus north of $3M in retirement assets…….why the F is Ken suggesting Lee go back to work? Pay off house and card from retirement and the can probably just about live off just the SS+Pension……
Traditional, you pay taxes when you take your money out. Roth, you pay taxes before you invest so all proceeds from the Roth are tax free. Do the Roth option!!
2:04:07 What did I miss? Why do they need to go back to work? They are over 59 with $3 million plus in retirement. They could liquidate some assets and get rid of the debt. Doesn’t solve the marriage problem but doesn’t seem they need to go back to work.
Between Social Security and pension they gross almost 10k/month (so roughly $7,500/month net). That's on top of their retirement investments. Definitely shouldn't have to go back to work.
Came here to say this, agreed. $1,300 payment is crazy, but they've got a great income and net worth. The only "Dave" rule they're breaking is not having paid cash for it. (which they could easily do)
Im halfway thru the show. On every call, George pushes Ramsey solution pros. Yuck. And for the caller asking about why her listed home hasnt sold in 30 days, the answer is NOT call ramsey trusted real estate agent. She already is under contract with a broker, so no she cannot leggally do that. I hate George. The answer might be how the home is staged, the location, the condition, or the price. She should follow her agent's advice. A price drop after 60 days might make sense. The answer is not call another agent. 1:02:46
@harknowhere Ken Coleman’s response was very abrasive and uncalled for; frankly made my skin crawl. The job market is hard to get into, even for hourly wages. He is not in touch with reality. It can be especially hard to get a hourly minimum wage job when you have a higher ed degree. I have seen this time and time again with people qI know and clients I work with. You seem like a person who is actually trying. Good luck!
Greg, a call in radio show is not the place to ask about putting a house in a trust. You need an attorney for any decision regarding a trust as there are different kinds and you can have serious regrets about making a decision one way or another without expert advice. It's worth paying for - your situation is more complicated than just a trust. If you have enough money for all that land, you can pay an attorney.
Where is this $300,000 boat? Calgary is landlocked. Also boats hardly ever or never go up in value no matter how many improvements you make. If he is lucky the value stayed the same. So where is he going to get $2000/ day for a charter?
Always really liked the shows Ken is on but today I’m wondering if there is something wrong with him? That first call was really painful to listen to. What a horrible experience for the caller. Really condescending and strange and disrespectful.
Just an opinion - Greg needs to get a divorce and not try to shield assets. It won't work. Just get divorced, split the assets per Missouri law and move on. Since he never did anything she'll also come for spousal maintenance. Sucks but it's a likely eventuality.
1:06:27 welcome to parenthood, George! Unless you leave the baby/child at home with someone, your vacations will be trips until you're an empty nester.
Same for us. DR swears they are all carefully vetted. No way can they keep up with all of them. The vestors pay a fee to RS to be on their list so they get RS listeners. It’s part of the RS business revenue.
31:00 Garrett's distant relative isn't responsible for paying Garrett enough to cover his expenses. He's willing to pay for the coursework and the hours Garrett will actually work. Garrett wants to be paid for five days per week while working only two days per week, as well as having his coursework paid by the distant relative. Well, wouldn't we all? Garrett needs to step into the real world. I've met numerous "Garrett's" in my life, and they all had roots in Salt Lake. Maybe there's something in the water there that breeds entitlement.

Probably lots of buyers remorse.
He mentioned the issue it caused with his wife...which seemed to be glossed over by everyone.
By the way BOAT stands for "Bust Out Another Thousand!"
You didnt ask Jely's age. If he's age 50 or more, he can contribute an extra $7500 more for 2024, called the catchup contribution.
8:30 as the parent of an adult child with a disability, the PC term "differently abled" has always come across as offensive and condescending to me, no matter how well intentioned. Ugh!🤮
I’m the first caller. I just wish I was given better advice. I left that call with nothing but a free book
@@harknowhere I wish you were given better advice, as well. Best of luck in your job search and finishing your PhD program.
Mr. Ken,
you are astonishing! LOL
almost like George LOMFL!!!
Jeez Ken overpowering the entire time and not letting George or the caller talk. On the financial questions he says a bunch of nothing let George do what he does best
George, please talk nerdy about tax-deferred 401(k). What does that mean?
It means instead of paying tax now you pay more tax later when the rates are higher.
401K is great for NON savers but unnecessary for alot of people.
Merely an escrow fund for retirement.
58:49 There's nothing she's said about the agent that warrants you getting them fired. Chill on plugging your people
They said "second opinion" not get fired.
Hi George, please explain how a loan car works? How extra payments are apply? Please do examples.Thank you.
Extra payments go towards reducing the principal. You might have to designate the payment that way, depending on the lender.
That LAST CALLER can’t be “for real”… and I think you ran short on a caller to fill in that last space, and you quickly threw together a COMEDY ROUTINE to end the program with a Big Hoot!!
I see right through you guys !!!! Hahaha!!! 🤣🤪
103 today in Denver, hot show indeed!
110 in AZ today 😶🌫️
The Sam’s club pizza is a good deal. Extra large for 9 bucks
The boat guy, they never recommended to have the discussion with the wife, feel like that would be the most important thing to consider.
That’s not what the guy called for. Their expertise isn’t in that area and besides it sounded like he was already working on that with an actual therapist.
Please explain 'negative gearing' on Talk Nerdy🙏
I am not able to watch on Rumble. 😢 any thoughts on why
@1:25:24 Who else came here to watch ken coleman eat a hotdog? 🤣🤣🤣
When did this show become nothing but advertising
Spencer from NC: Ken is right...go find some work!! You can improve your resume after work.
I think Ken is really jealous of that jacket...😂
Now the rudeness is rubbing off on George and Ken let the man finish his sentence be courteous. It’s called professional courtesy Ken wasn’t there when this man was sitting there trying to apply for work whether it’s here or there. Ken wasn’t there. He wasn’t boots on the ground like this guy was Saying no work you can’t work etc. etc. etc. out!!!
Thank you. I’m his wife and I was livid when I heard that nonsense like he sees him doing it or something.
George!
That last call they have more than enough money to get these things paid off and his wife will have a pension as long as she is alive she probably doesn’t care.
Right, she knows she has minimum $5000 a month just with her pension.
So many homes for sale now, I enjoy all the cuts I see every week, because those people want to get rich but we the buyers see the real price, in Tony's case probably about 150
Yhe talk nerdy segment I would like George to talk about the Roth and Tradition IRAs
@@robinmartin2813 So much easier to Google it without having to listen to commercial RS content. Besides, George is no expert. He just knows what they are. He's not got any wisdom yet. Too young.
The guys don't seem to be aware of RMDs. $5 MM at 74 requires a $200k withdrawal.. and it increases each year.
@@teejarado5543 They have no real expertise, is why
Listen to The Money Guys. They're CFPs and know investing/retirement ins and outs in depth, unlike here.
Thank God.
Stay on the line and ill give you a copy of my book....
I don’t follow the feedback for the last caller - pension + SS is $9,500 a month, plus north of $3M in retirement assets…….why the F is Ken suggesting Lee go back to work? Pay off house and card from retirement and the can probably just about live off just the SS+Pension……
Talk nerdy topic: what’s the difference between a Traditional 401(k) vs Roth 401(k)
(which they could easily do)
Ken Coleman let the finance questions go to George n let him talk. !!!!quit hogging the show...!!!!
Good Lord, they're more like Ramsey commercials with some calls in there, where again its more self selling. Getting outta control
I scheduled & confirmed a Ramsay pro session…… they never called 😢
@@kel-kel1723Maybe that's a good thing.
Lee from TX (the last caller), you have a wife issue. It's either counseling or........If she doesn't want to go, then you go to counseling.
@harknowhere
Ken Coleman’s response was very abrasive and uncalled for; frankly made my skin crawl. The job market is hard to get into, even for hourly wages. He is not in touch with reality. It can be especially hard to get a hourly minimum wage job when you have a higher ed degree. I have seen this time and time again with people qI know and clients I work with. You seem like a person who is actually trying. Good luck!
Thank you
Greg is insufferable.
Greg?
@@johnparker4484 One of the callers
Greg, a call in radio show is not the place to ask about putting a house in a trust. You need an attorney for any decision regarding a trust as there are different kinds and you can have serious regrets about making a decision one way or another without expert advice. It's worth paying for - your situation is more complicated than just a trust. If you have enough money for all that land, you can pay an attorney.
58:05 lol 30 days.😂😂😂
Lol 60-90 days. 😂😂😂
City people.....around here in rural land a house might sit on market for 20-60 MONTHS or more.
Ken could never be Dave, Dave is daddy, one can take his scolding because it comes from the heart, Ken is just effing rude on that first caller
Yeah, I’m the first caller and it’s unfortunate that I felt like I wasn’t really heard
Just an opinion - Greg needs to get a divorce and not try to shield assets. It won't work. Just get divorced, split the assets per Missouri law and move on. Since he never did anything she'll also come for spousal maintenance. Sucks but it's a likely eventuality.
Looks like the doctor tuned Ken's meds down.
Don't put autism on your resume... they will discriminate against you.
Talk nerdy to me: Escrow 😅
1:06:27 welcome to parenthood, George! Unless you leave the baby/child at home with someone, your vacations will be trips until you're an empty nester.
I hope this wasn't an "actual dog"
George!
A call to a smart vestor pro was one of the worst things i ever did. Stay away.
Same for us. DR swears they are all carefully vetted. No way can they keep up with all of them. The vestors pay a fee to RS to be on their list so they get RS listeners. It’s part of the RS business revenue.
I just have to point out that Costco just raised their membership fees by a whopping 8%!!! 72% of their profits is from that fee. Not a fan.
....you can't afford the $5 bump in the yearly membership ?
31:00 Garrett's distant relative isn't responsible for paying Garrett enough to cover his expenses. He's willing to pay for the coursework and the hours Garrett will actually work. Garrett wants to be paid for five days per week while working only two days per week, as well as having his coursework paid by the distant relative. Well, wouldn't we all? Garrett needs to step into the real world. I've met numerous "Garrett's" in my life, and they all had roots in Salt Lake. Maybe there's something in the water there that breeds entitlement.
The pandemic prices for homes are a thing of the past, for 300 the house has to be ready to move in come on not fixer uppers
I would to see George tell that last callers wife to her face.. 😂😂
Sounded like a 62 year old “boss” black lady… Lizzo fan
This is the last episode I watch with Ken apart of. Dude, be quiet, listen and stop talking over everybody. Just because you talk first doesn’t mean you’re right.
@@DaRKWizaRdGaming0 He doesn't talk over as much as Jade, who also doesnt listen well. Then there's Delony, who inserts his own conversation before the caller can begin in order to "make them feel at ease". George acts like a k ow it all...trying to be Dave with no wisdom yet. Ken is the only one I can stand, probably because of age and wisdom. My opinions of course.

Mr. Childs, please have Ken limit his clothing comments to 3 times tops per show. It puts me in the same frame of mind as 5yr olds telling knock knock jokes over and over.
George is wearing his wife's jacket again.
Used boats don’t appreciate. Skeptical.
Depends on the type of boat, mine did.
The advice on the first call was spot on. If you can’t even get a basic job it’s a you problem that needs to be fixed. If people don’t want to be around you then fix that
I’m the first caller. Doesn’t feel like it. Didn’t even let me finish. I’ve had 6 figure jobs in the past. 2024 job market just sucks. He didn’t even let me finish. Told me “I’m not trying” without even letting me tell him everything. Hammered me with questions and relayed everything to my disability without offering actual advice. Frustrating.
I’m married to him and there’s many people in our lives that enjoy his company. Clearly you have not had to suffer in the job market in current times which is fantastic for you but that’s not everyone’s reality. Judgement isn’t necessary.
@harknowhere what's the reason you can't go back to the jobs you've had previously? At least until u can get something different. In the past we used to say " don't leave a job without having another one"
Ken, wait till you start burping up the hot dog 😬
Dont share the hot dog or pizza with George?
George probably doesn't eat hot dogs, and if the pizza is not gluten free he can't
His name is JOEY not JELLY!
Him living in New York City mighhht play a part
But I’ve lived here my whole life. Also, I’m applying all over the place. NY, suburbs, NJ, PA, CT. No luck
Have these folks forgot to go into the military!!!
I’m the first caller. Can’t do military with autism
Good God, mention the Bomber jacket one more time. ONE MORE TIMERDSJEIDJWJSBSB
Ken isn’t listening critically. Too black and white with Garrett
1st caller needs to dumb down the resume.
Yeah and get basic jobs making pizzas working 80 hours and not spending any time with my family. Got it
Right! The only reason why they know you're overqualified is because you tell them. 😅 Just keep it to high school degree and you're in there
