OMG so many memories for me. I would walk home from Lehman HS that way. I would come home from work in Manhattan and get off at ‘The Square’ . I would walk to my 2 friends’ houses on Tremont the same route you took. It’s like I’m home again. Thank you for a great walk in my ol’ neighborhood.
I graduated from Lehman High School in June 1977.I signed up at that same U.S. Army recruiter station, & went into the Army on Sept. 27, 1977. I served honorably for 17 years. My neice attended Lehman. Memories. Unfortunately, the neighborhood has changed. I am a New York girl 4 ever. But, I don't plan on returning ".
I’m always used to seeing images of the south Bronx. This part of the Bronx looks soo different , the layout is more open and spread out looking. Very interesting 👍
My Grandparents lived on Calhoun Ave off of Bruckner Blvd. they are buried in St Raymond’s. Watching this brought back so many wonderful memories from my childhood. Thank you.
Very interesting, really enjoyed watching this! For four years in the early 70's I was station on a Navy destroyer @FtSchuyler. It was great to see how the area changed.
Challenging my memory on that one Chet. I grew up in Throggs Neck but dont recall the exact year. Was gone by the time I started at Maritime in 1982. Guessing mid 70's???
That was a nice long walk. In the 1980's I lived between the Park Parkchester and Castle Hill train stop and road my bike down Westchester Avenue and went all the way down East Tremont Avenue till the end and rode back home. Thanks for the memories. P.S. I hope you didn't have to walk back. You have good high quality video.
Thanks for a great sentimental journey to walk the streets I spent so much of my youth walking. From the Bronx kid born and raised, now living in Australia. Cheers thanks again.
Remarkable ActionKid! I never have seen the Bronx neighborhoods you walked through. Plus to see the actual location of the Little Sisters of the Poor Nursing Home (56.37). The Little Sisters are celebrating their 150th anniversary of arriving in NYC from France. Now they have homes in many locations in the US. And finally the NY Maritime Academy. Just great. Thanks. Bill
Grew up in Throggs Neck. Went tro Lehman H.S. @ 7:48 . Worked in that McDonalds @ 33:05 when I was 16 yrs old (I'm 56 now). Store on right at 41:01 was a "Finast Supermarket". If you made a right here (where those 3 people are going), my house was down that street in the Projects (Dewey Ave.). That "CitiBank" at 43:40 was an A&P Supermarket. The brick building on the left with the red door is "Engine 72" FDNY. The area on the right beginning at 1:01:10 is called "Silver Beach" and runs all the way to Fort Schuylar Maritime". Had a buddy, Roger Major that lived up the block at 1:07:17 in front of that car up on the left. And last, two things in the shot at 1:10:14 . The yellow chain link fence on the left used to be where I worked in a hot dog truck when there was a boat yard there and across the street on what we called "The Wall" was where I used to hang out. GREAT memories ...Thank You SOOO much for the upload! :)
Thank you for sharing Actionkid. I have a friend who lives in Throgs Neck but have never.been to visit. I enjoy all your walking videos of the NYC area!
The best recording you did, thank you! NY down town is beautiful but this area is just normal, natural, as I can see over the window. You made my Saturday
Hey love your videos! Please try to visit the Denizen Bushwick building at 123 Melrose Street, and see if the public park that was promised is open, last time I visited a few months ago it wasn't
Great video, thanks! Have you ever done Pelham Bay Park to Orchard Beach? Walked it many times in my youth. Back then, we used a shortcut through woods and some grassy area. I don't know how safe it would be now.
I've only walked that route once but I've been there plenty of times on my bicycle. I'll need to go back eventually to make a video there. I'm sure there are many shortcuts through all those woods!
I lived on Tremont and Harding (in the 70s). You walked right passed my house. The place has not changed at all. Amazing!!! I played in that Little League field more towards the end of the video. Thanks
Followed you in google street view.... nice walk and a very interesting area, especially the college and the view at the end. Thank you, Actionkid, as always.... :-)

Thank you for sharing your incredible videos of NY !! I'm very interested in purchasing a Go Pro Hero7 myself because of your videos! How do you mount it to yourself? I've noticed many people you pass on your journey are oblivious to the fact you're recording. Can you make a video on how to prepare yourself for a "walk" video?
You’re welcome! I use my GoPro with a FeiyuTech G6 gimbal and hand hold the stabilizer at chest level. I always make sure I have enough batteries on hand for a trip!
I enjoyed your video. However, I wish you would have zig zag in and out of a few blocks to give a better idea of what the neighborhood is like. Overall I enjoyed it. Thank you.
the area at the end of video seems silent and cozy, but where sidewalks. its so dangerous to go on a roadside. not all life to drive the car, isn't it) anyway, good walk and excellent weather, with a cool view of bridges: Throgs Neck & Whitestone. and I apologize for bad eng.
