Hi, It's me again...saw your response about the Palisades park long path hike, thanks. I have a question about this one; I am told that there are many set of steps around the Marble Hill/Riverdale area but trying to find out more about where exactly and how many continuous steps there are. Are they shown in this video and at what point? Sorry don't have time right now watch the whole thing. Thank you for taking these detailed videos and posting them here.
@@Reincarnation111 No, I don't think so. I used to live in Riverdale as a child. They are 101 steps near the IRT railroad yard. Maybe around 238th street. I can't remember.
Riverdale , including Fieldston Rd in the NW Bronx is still one of the most pleasant and scenic , pastoral areas of the the city. The bridge which connects Marble Hill to Inwood was called the Kings Bridge back in the early days. The # 1 train runs across it; Spuyten Duyvil ( Devil's Spit) is the area of North Manhattan where the Harlem River meets with the Hudson River, otherwise known as Tubby's Hook. Nice video...keep up the great work, Actionkid.
Inwood is Manhattan side. Spuyten Duyvil is The Bronx side . The water is very choppy there , so it got its Dutch name when a guy swam across 'In spite of the Devil' 🧐

Lovely area of the Bronx, Looks like Englewood, NJ!! I'm familiar with Davidson Ave, however, I never experienced anything else about the Bronx! I grew up in Fort Green, left NY in the early eighties, moved to SF CA, on to FL for the last 30 yrs. NY is too cold, but will always remain indelibly etched in my heart!!!!! Thanks for the lovely scenic walk!!!!!

It's always the rich people who get the most mad and call the police, who sometimes stop me and ask questions but then send me on my merry way, to continue filming. One rich lady said "You can't film here" and when I told her I legally could, she pulled out her cell phone and said "well then, I'm gonna start filming you", I said go right ahead and kept filming! lol

@@ActionKid I had this happen to me last spring in a community on a lake where I used to live just outside of Dallas . It was Sunday morning , Maybe 9a.m . A young woman came up to me and gave me a really hard time so I showed her what I was filming and said if there's anything here you want me to remove please let me know.... because she claimed I had filmed her house (and I think I only caught a couple seconds of it ) I showed her everything and she said she just didn't feel safe there with people filming . I was wearing an expensive long dress , nice jewelry , and hat . She look like a freaking slob ,about 60 pounds overweight , no bra , unsightly breasts hanging down , short shorts ... terrible . Then I went in the lake with my feet in the water . I was holding up my dress towards my knees and filming some more . I turned around and noticed she and another woman in a golf cart just sitting there at the edge of the park staring at me and staring the whole time I was there ... and they were filming me . When I went to leave they followed me to my car . Horrible hillbillies . They were the only people like that in the neighborhood and you could tell that the neighbors probably can't stand them .. they were what some people would call white trash . But my luck I was the one they chose to harass .
Great video. It clears up the vision that people like me have about neighbourhoods in NYC that are not considered either safe or clean. The place is really nice. If you do requests, I'd like some tour on the 2nd avenue passing Hollographic Studios where I stayed two years ago. Thank you.
I was really hoping you were going to give us a walking tour of Wave Hill Park. It is supposed to be more beautiful than even Fort Tryon Park. It used to be free admission on Saturday from 9-12AM. The website now says it is free on Thursday.
This seems like the most quaint place in NYC, that I have ever seen so far. I am looking forward to move here, someday so that I can attend university at Columbia..
Great job but this one I was anxious for you, not because of the BX, but it seemed like you were in a hurry to get out of there and was lost a few times
I actually was in a bit of a hurry! I had a lot of ground to cover to make it back to Marble Hill before it got dark (otherwise the videos wouldn't be clear). It was also my first time in the area, and even with my pre-trip preparations it was challenging due to the windy roads and roads without sidewalks.
How about a Walk from Van Cortlandt Park west through Mosholu to Riverdale Ave. and along Riverdale Ave. (you could walk into the College of Mt. St. Vincent) up to Yonkers (you don't go into Yonkers) and back along the Hudson River (you would have to go in and out on the way back because there is no one straight road along the river as far as I can remember)? Maybe you could go all the way down to Riverdale Station and up again. Just a suggestion.
@@ActionKid You can ride your bike to Yonkers but on the way back you'll probably have a hard time going down to the river and up again. So you'll have to plan that out. I suggest spring on a Sunday morning because there will be few people and little snow.
AK had a different cadence in this video. Like he was hustling, a little out of breath, loud steps, like he was in a hurry. Usually has much different, more relaxed stride.
Did you come across the marker separating the Bronx and Manhattan? I have heard that it is located in a play ground, but haven't found it yet. Please reply if you know where it is. Thanks! Edit. Just found out that it is in the Marble Hil Playground!
If you are a Law and Order fan some of these streets may look familiar, Wolf Productions NBC Universal used Riverdale once a month every season and still do.
a suggestion: this walk should have ended by going over the broadway bridge into manhattan as this would have given viewers unfamiliar with this part of the bronx an "anchor" for where these places are (plus broadway in that part of the city is kinda fun/interesting IMO).
You should make some business cards with your TH-cam name on them so when people see you walking in their community (especially the ritzy parts), you can give it to them so they can check it out and see you are not a threat. Keep up the good work.
wow you guys need street work done just like we do. and how in the H..some of your trees still have green leaves on them .here in Illinois we have full blown winter going on . we got 11".7 inches of snow a day ago .
Is Marbel hill still considered Manhattan and Bronx or just Manhattan? Going to High School in the area we always had that debate cause in reality that area is in the Bronx, but it's considered Manhattan but as a kid growing up we all said it was both.
For all practical purposes it's the Bronx according to residents and people who visit there. However, due to the way it was disconnected from Manhattan Island it is "politically" Manhattan. Some other weird areas like this exist, such as the Statue of Liberty being in New York surrounded by the waters of New Jersey, and Ellis Island being in both New York and New Jersey at the same time.
I graduated from John F Kennedy HS. Marble Hill is still technically Manhattan due to the creation of the river. I am not sure if you reside at either Marble Hill Houses or Promenade apts if you vote for Bronx Borough Pres or Manhattan Borough Pres.
Thanks for this. For us stuck in a 3rd world, this is the only way we can experience being in a first world country. You are lucky. Thanks for making us happy.
