  • We get a lot of questions on how to sharpen our serrated broadheads. In this video, Derek Craig, re-sharpens a Black Hornet Ser-Razor that he used just days prior to take a doe.

Those Magnus heads are great. I use the stay sharp jigs for them and yes I run them forward and back to sharpen. They get super sharp.

Perfect timing. Shot a doe opening day. Had pass thru and stuck deep in the dirt.

The individual serrations can be sharpened also.
Watched it done on the Stay Sharp Guide page with a thick string coated with rubbing compuond.

I use a 1/2” wide diamond stone. I mounted it to a 6” handle for better control. I have a coarse diamond and a super fine stone. They are made so I don’t have to take the head apart.

You cut out the most important part! Positioning the blades in the jaws and adjusting the roller wheel. This completely skipped the adjustments needed to match the bevel and remove all the sharpie. Could you go over the process of figuring out the blade position? Such as how much blade is exposed and tips on getting the edge of the blade parallel with the jaws. I personally am only removing the sharpie from the edge to about halfway up the bevel. What adjustments would need to be made? Also, the video is supposed to be about sharpening serrated blades but the serrations weren't touched. If someone would want to hone the serrations, what would you recommend?

You sharpen the serrations just like you do a smooth edge, in the video derek shows that. You donot need to have a special tool to go into each serration as the cutting on the chisel serration is on the edges of the serrations.
