    I really dig my Stay Sharp...thanks for putting up these videos!
    Ever thought about making some sort of jig that would consistently set the blades at your recommended exposure measurements?

      So I have a guide for my planer / chisels. Just measure on a board how deep the blade should go into the jig - mark it and glue / nail a stop in place (another small flat / straight piece of wood). I usually write what it's for above it, but the idea is when you get out your guide, you press the jig flat against the board and pull out your blade until it hits the stop. Exact same placement everytime.

      always use the sandpaper dry for this application. Wet for paint and auto finish applications. You can replace the cereal box cardboard when the buffing compound get clogged with metal.

    Which stropping compound do you recommend for the black hornets? I have never done this method.

    • @innovativeoutdoorsman5067
      @innovativeoutdoorsman5067  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      red or white or green. Red is the most abrasive, white is less and green even less and is called jewlers rouge.

    I bought the stay sharp several months ago and I can’t seem to get my 4 blade black hornets sharp. I follow the guidelines on this video to a “T”. I mark the blades with a sharpie and after 5-6 passes the color on the blades is gone, and I’m very careful to make sure the blade is properly mounted. Do I have to push down with a lot of pressure when sharpening on the 400 and 1000 grit sandpaper? I can’t get the blades close to shaving sharp. How long should it take to do “one edge”?
    Thank you
