Remember now, the Americas had a species of lion that was larger than the African lion. Males where maneless. They died out about 9000 years ago. They were not related to the jaguar family at all. Supposedly, there are a few skeletal remains in the La Brea tar Pits.
@@michaelruggiero2076 Yes, it was the American lion weighing upto 750 lbs and coexisted with Smilodon fatalis and populator the north American jaguar, the north American cheetah etc. It was definitely a fearsome predator but not necessarily THE apex predator in the Americas. Smilodon populator was bigger and more powerful. It was definitely a genetically distinct species of lion but closely related to the Euresia cave lion
It is a bit of a tough 1 but due to the lioness having a slight size advantage, I'd have to put my money there. Sure jaguars are very muscular but lioness's ain't no slouch. They say that due to them living in prides they wouldn't survive on they're own but I disagree, as there has been plenty of examples of them surviving on they're own. Keep these sort of videos coming, I really enjoyed it 🙂
Pound for pound the Jag is the most powerful cat, but it would easily on average be outweighed by 100 pounds by the Lioness. Imagine the top heavyweight champion weighing 265 lbs and 6'4" going up against the top middleweight at 185 lbs and 6 feet tall. The percentage increase would be similar to that of a Jaguar to a Lioness. Both are top of their game.
@@khalindavis7322 pound for pound maybe yes.. average size big nooo.. tigers are lone and brutal hunter.. and Siberian tiger are also known to kill grizzlies sooo 🙂
Everyone talks about jaguar bite force as though it's the same for all of them. It's not about the size of a 'cat's bite force' in a fight, but about the size of the fight in a cat. Jaguars, like leopards, are shy and prefer to hide in plain sight, as a result, such animals prefer flight over combat. Male and female lions, on the other hand, are bold and prefer to make their presence known by roaring or sneaking up on their opponents and killing them to eliminate competition and instill terror everywhere in their territory. When confronted with a lion, I believe jaguars will behave similarly to leopards: they will either flee or cower down when cornered.
The bite force is totally irrelevant to be honest A lioness's bite can kill a jaguar A jaguar's can kill a lioness and some It's not like either of these cats are heavily armoured like a turtle or a caiman On the other hand, the lioness can crush a buffalo's skull with a single paw swipe Which means, it's probably equally fatal on a jaguar The jaguar has powerful forearms as well So it all comes down to brute strength The jaguar is stronger per lb but imo has a significant size disadvantage on average The lioness wins 6/10
I'm not sure that the jaguar's solitary nature (accustomed to fending for itself without backup) is a help or a hindrance. Remember the lioness grows up wrestling (sometimes not so playfully) with its siblings and older relatives, as well as fighting over meals, fighting interlopers from other prides - sometimes even fighting new dominant males to save her cubs...besides just hunting prey (usually LARGE prey). Surely that constant sparring with other cats counts for something? I'm most interested in whether a lioness would have the strength to wrestle a male jaguar into body positions that would favour her...I would have to think the jaguar would be too strong and fast to allow himself to get forced into a disadvantageous position for very long. In fact, I suspect he'd be more inclined than the lioness to engage in close quarters, while she might prefer to posture and swipe from a bit more of a distance.
Jaguar is the most powerful cat in pound to pound.. it will surely kill lioness in sort time coz jaguars hunting skills are totally different and surprisingly more effective in killing carnivorous...
@@predatorplays7156 There's no surely about anything. The jaguar occasionally encounters other jaguars, giant river otters, anacondas and caimans...but except when it fights other jaguars, it's not encountering big cats. It's skilled at killing caimans, sure, but what use is that caiman-killing skill in fighting a lioness, which fights completely differently, with different weapons, with different strengths and weaknesses from a caiman?? Lionesses are regularly scrapping with other lions, will go out of their way to try to kill any leopards or cheetahs they encounter. (not even as prey, but simply to eliminate predator competition).. this is already a regular day at the office for the lioness. A similarly sized male jaguar would be a hell of a problem for a lioness, yes, but she'd be a hell of a problem for him too, there's nothing 'surely' about either one killing the other.
@@orchidwave2574 I’d say it’s 50/50 on who would win. But I’d doubt a jaguar would even get the chance before it had to deal with a male lion. Which would result in its death.

Now that's a very good question as much these two big cats are powerful. What really matters is who would actually survive in a fight. The since Jaguars are excellent swimmers, and lioness is a great social group for hunting. It's a real tough one so I may as well go with a lioness.
Its so hard to decide...but i have the jaguar 6/10. Like you said the lioness is used to hunting in a pack. The jaguar is used to hunting alone.....and were talking about a 1v1. The jaguar has more experience fighting alone in my personal opinion.

The jaguar is more the Presa canaro. The clouded leopard is the smaller pitbull. The lion is Kangal, tiger is the Boreboel. The leopard is the cane corsa, Puma is Rottweiler, Cheetah is the Doberman. Snow leopard is german Shephard.
this is really tough. i guess it depends on where it is happening. i think both would have an advantage in their own habitat. jaguars more adapted to the jungle and lioness more to the savannah. jaguar has a stronger bite. so i would bet on the jaguar. they also have a more dense musle mass. but that can also excaust them faster. wich is extremely dangerous for big cats. also jaguars are used fend for their own. lionesses are much more vulnerable on their own. but never underastimate a lioness. when her or her cubs lives are in danger. they wont stop untill one of them dies. or they will both die from their wounds
I don’t think a slightly stronger bite really matters too much. I think it’s mainly their exceptional skill and hunting feats along with their pound for pound strength that might give them the win
🏆Jaguar 4 da win🏆 As deadly as the Lioness is, I have to go for the Jaguar due the fact that its a master of stealth, has greater bite force, and it's technique of subduing it's prey: Biting the skull of their prey, leaving it completely immobilized ☠
Ina fight against a Lioness their "Bite Force" won't help though. Khabib would lose against the strongest arm wrsestler in a arm wrestling match but on the street Khabib would win. same goes to Jaguars and Lioness... Lioness would come out as the winner out of the cage octagon against a Jaguar.
@carlo er I watched a documentary where a jaguars bite force was measured at just over 1500 PSI so it has been proven but just because it has the bite force doesn't mean it would get the opportunity to bite the lion which is capable of killing its prey very quickly
Are you serious. 350 liones versus 250 plus Jaguar. The liones would not even understand the aggression of a Jaguar with skull crushing and ripping ability.
I had been specifically requesting this fight for the longest time....thank you! The fact that the fight could go either way shows what a close fight it would be which is what makes it interesting. These videos are so much better than the ones where the outcome is extremely obvious. 2 other very interesting fights that are still on my list are: Cheetah versus Pitbull , and cheetah versus Bobcat or lynx. Pitbull versus bobcat is a good one too. I have my opinions on all of those, but would love to know if I'm right. There has been a large division of opinions on the cheetah versus pitbull scenario. That one is very interesting.
I was just going to type "who the fuck is into this bullshit clickbait" lol ask and ye shall receive. It's you, you're the one who is into this clickbait bullshit 😂😂
I don't think a bobcat will stick around to fight a pit bull. Big dogs tend to chase the bobcat up a tree then depending on the dog will determine if the bobcat pounces back. They tend to be shy and avoid humans altogether and pitbulls being as protective as they are will typically chase them away. This is from my own circle's experiences rather than my own personal but we live in NWGA with lots of wooded areas and bobcats are still present though rare. Cheetahs IMHO won't stick around for a prolonged fight, they're fast and only kill like 3-5 different types of species for their substance and usually when they make the kill, they are too winded to fight to keep it. Leopards, hyenas, lion, etc will chase it away if they choose to steal the food. I've never seen any documents of them actually fighting to keep their kill so i can't really say how that would go down. They are the biggest cat I've seen people keep around the house (obv on tv). Very sleek, beautiful creatures. I requested hippo vs rhino for the longest time and it's nice to see our picks making it.
All of the fights are based on the concept that the animals would have to actually fight....running isn't an option. If avoiding the conflict was an option, most of these close fights would NOT happen. Animals...much like people...tend to target the easiest victim rather than stiff competition.
I'm Brazilian and I could imagine that most ppl picture a Jaguar fighting behavior like another big cat Wich is wrong, being all muscles for it's weight jaguars aren't very agile, so they're mostly like alligators on theyr kills, a single move with a single bite, not necessarily in the neck cuz theyr bite can crack any other animal skull. But a lion having longer pawns and higher size could easily slap the jaguar in the face and stay out of reach, since jaguars don't usually use theyr claws like lions/leopards. I don't think the lioness wold win every match tho, cuz as said a single jaguar bite at the head wold be game over.

No almost none of these fights would ever happen because animals don't fight unless it's absolutely necessary they have to survive and getting into conflicts lowers their chances for survival if they get injured they could die so usually the risk is higher than the reward (until mating season them all the risk is worth the reward lol)
Wait, in the video you did for the jaguar Vs leopard you said the outcome could go either way, fair enough you tipped the favour of the jaguar but if it could go either way for the leopard and jaguar then a lioness has a much better chance as lioness's kill leopards on sight. Including male leopards
Leopards are stronger and more agile than jaguars and they run for their lives when they see a lioness. Anyone that thinks that a jaguar would stand a chance against a lioness is absolutely delusional.
@@CK-wv5hg Leopards are pound for pound the strongest cats in the world, they have displays of strenght that go well beyond those of jaguars as they can climb trees .with prey heavier than them wich means that they have the power to simply ragdoll a jaguar and they in fact prey on nile crocodiles and adult gorillas wich are way bigger and more dangerous than anything a jaguar has to face on the amazonian rain forest. Leopards are also far more agile and agressive than jaguars and the average male jaguar only weighs around 20 kg more than male leopards. If you haven´t done it already, I would like to see a video about who would win in a fight moose vs american bison. And to be honest I have no idea, probably the moose, but I have really no clue.
This isn't a fight. Anyone thinking a jaguar would beat a lioness is delusional. They are both similarly built, but the lion is much heavier. The average male jaguar weighs 88kg, which can be rounded up from 194 lbs to 200 lbs and the average lioness weighs about 330 lbs. That's a massive size difference. Even smaller lionesses weigh about 265 lbs. In this fight, bite force doesn't matter, because it's two cats fighting and not a cat hunting, so the jaguar, seeing the size difference would most likely go for defence rather than offence. Also, the fact that lions often hunt in prides means absolutely nothing. When people always say that animals who live in groups are much more aggressive, I cringe a bit. Lionesses are fully capable of hunting large prey like wildebeest, when alone and only really need groups to take down giraffes and buffaloes. So, there is a clear winner here. 70% of the time.
Lions are fighters and that goes for the lioness as well, in my opinion the lioness would when, lionesses hunt solitary or as a pride and defend their territories fiercely against hyenas and other lion prides.
@@pitbullthedog668correct asiatic lions r the smallest species of lion but they also looks huge in front of humans whereas jaguar is always smaller in both size & weight
@@WorldofKingKong3618 Lol that’s a funny joke you made. Lionesses fight other big cats all the time. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for Jaguars. @@Brandon-br7tc What other big cats? lions are the only big cats found in Africa unless you're talking about other lions then yeah DUH also I wasn't joking who said I was?
I'm happy you said that it could go either way, I generally agree and the jaguar being more muscular and stronger jaws id expect the jaguar to win least 60 percent of the time. However NEVER EVER underestimate the power and strength of a lioness, they are designed to bring down large prey like buffalo ect, and a bite force of 650 PSI is more than enough to seriously injury or kill a jaguar. If a lioness got a good grip on the jaguar that would be it. Good video
650psi bite force is absolutely nonsense latest test shows lions have above 1000psi bite force like literally many dog breeds have bite force above 650psi
Now I thought about this and it gives the advantage to the jaguar if it's an African lioness then they have the Addie to size but an Asian lioness weighing the same or less will likely lose but it always depends on the particular individual personalities, aggression and heart.
I requested this fight for a long time!!! Thank you. If the lioness has baby's I would say aggression level would be =. They both might underestimate the fight. Jaguar thinking the lionesses is a mountain lion и the lionesses thinking the jaguar is a leppard. Still waiting for red panda vs raccoon or red fox
If these two cats were put in a cage together, it'd be the Jaguar everyday. Lionesses don't fight solo and they often don't hunt solo. Jaguars have experience in one on one from being territorial, and fending for themselves. On top of being a giant cat and still being able to climb trees(muscle) . A pride will absolutely body a jaguar, but were specifically taking away the team aspect. Jaguar wins 9/10 times. Unless the lioness has been a nomad for most her life. Then quite a bit equal tbh.

A jaguar the size of a tiger would be unstoppable and could probably take down elephants by himself. I can only imagine what his bite force would be at that size. 2000 psi?
Bite force doesn't play a crucial role here, the size and attitude are the actual deciding factor. Hyenas have a bite force about twice than that of a lion, but hyenas never dare to face a healthy lioness single handedly.
@@kikedenis4209, But lioness possesses all of these characteristics in an extreme level, along with a larger body size, terrifying roaring capability and an inherent aggressive face to face fighting capability, which the jaguar lacks. Jaguar need to strongly bite over the skull of the lioness to get a victory, which is only possible if the lion is somehow incapacitated to become sluggish like a caiman. In a face to face fight, it is impossible to inflict such a lethal bite to a healthy aggressive lioness. In reality the jaguar will ran away & try to find the nearest tree top at the initial moment itself due to the strong paw swipe imposed by the lioness. So bite force is not at all a key factor in this confrontation.
@@bipinraj6449 jaguars literally kill anacondas, gators, other jags, cougars etc lone lionesses don't even hunt adult deer. I look at the jag as the little brother to the tiger, it is a lone killer and would definitely have it over the lioness
A Jaguar is bigger than it's counterpart the Leopard and a much more powerful bite force, most lions won't bother with leopard as it's not worth the fate of injury etc so a Jag would be far more of a problem.
Namibian lionesses average around 140kg on the other hand largest Jaguars the pantanal Jaguar who average around 100kg. Panatanl is comparable to really skinny asiatic lioness, Jaguar stands no chance against African Namibian lioness.
The jaguars testosterone alone gives him a huge boost in beating a lioness. That’s like saying a big woman can beat a short stocky/jacked man. That would never happen. It’s because of the testosterone which a lioness has way less than any male bigcat on the planet. A male jaguar would die before he gives up and has an instinct to dominate. I don’t care how much bigger a lioness is, it just doesn’t compare when it comes to testosterone coursing through his veins. That’s why when people put a male jaguar and a lioness together they breed because the lioness sees him as a strong and capable mate who she submits to. It happens a lot.
Jaguars don’t go for the neck. And lioness’s already have the teeth and bite force to casually bite through a Jaguar’s skin and cause severe damage. And they will go for the neck, so one good bite is all it will usually take for the lioness as well, so it depends on whether the lioness can get its teeth into the Jaguar as well
@@Brandon-br7tc I know they don't tend to go for the neck but in a fight for their life they will go for anything that keeps them alive and their bite force is 3x more than a lionesses if a jaguar gets its jaws or any bone it will break it so its a danger unless the lioness does the job quick which I don't think a lone lioness would let's say prime lioness 350lbs prime male Jag 300lbs that only 50lb weight difference and Jag go for bigger prey the same as lioness its a much closer fight that people think and animals are unpredictable when fighting to survive so no1 can really know unless it happens tbh
In my opinion the lioness would win , as it is almost twice the size of a male jag . Also jaguars sometimes come across mountain lions and tend to avoid any fight so if a jag sees a lioness it will probably avoid a fight with it as well. Jag does have the strongest bite force but the bite force isn't everything you need to defeat something twice your size also there are videos of jags running away from anteaters who are half their size .
@@zeusonolympus123 but you know how much is 450 pounds?! In Italy we have kilos, and 450 pounds would be over 200 kilos. That's maybe the average weight of a male lion... There is a huge exception when the male is there on the lion he always eats first however he will allow the Cubs to eat with him but not the females. They have to wait their turn the Cub doesn't know any better and he'll walk right in there and eat and usually the male lion will allow him. They are the king their sole purpose is to protect the pride and lionesses but contrary to popular belief they are very capable hunters in their own right and always take down the large prey.
My money is on the Lioness. They can bring down animals alone as large as a Zebra stallion, a male lion would be the only other predator capable of doing that alone. Jaguars can kill Caimans and Anacondas but reptiles tire quickly and can't fight as long as a large mammal. Also, lionesses because they live in prides have more experience fighting, especially when males attempt pride takeovers.
Nope....Tiger is the emperor! Imagine Siberian tiger in Africa hunting....lions would have to move on different continent or go extinct If Jag would enter Africa even worse....Jags could wipe out dozens of species. Lions are like household cats compared to these two

I wouldn’t agree with you, the jaguar is known to have the strongest biting force when it comes to the big cats. Think about it, the pure strength it needs to drag its food up a tree is mind boggling.
@@connorpearson9754 bite force isn’t enough to win a battle the lioness has size and power in her side she would end up killing the jaguar. Lioness can win it easily as it also lives I a more complicated habitat but jaguar can give a good fight because of it's bite force but after realizing from which he messed with he would rather climb a tree or swin away.
I have a recommendation: Carcharodontosaurus vs Spinosaurus (A prehistoric battle that actually makes sense unlike the Rex vs Spino because these two predators actually lived in the same place and time)
Y’all need to stop about jaguar having a more powerful bite. Did y’all not see jaguar fight against cougars? Most of the time it ends in no contest cause both cats know it’s not worth the injury. On rare occasions tho, the jaguar might kill the cougar. A lioness is too big and has size as advantage. The jaguar is just a fat leopard to the lioness. Here’s how it will end: the lioness chases the jaguar away or the jaguar lays on its back and uses its claws as weapons, thus stopping the lioness from attacking it. The lioness will stand and stare at it for a bit until she loses interest and goes on her way. There will be no deaths. Bites don’t really matter in cat fights. It’s mostly about size and power. Usually a smaller cat will know better not to fight and lay on its back as it is the best tactics to survive.

Close call dude, and you included are the primary factors of each animal.
Good call! 🤙🏾

Yes lionesses are very athletic and are fierce fighters and good solitary hunters, hunting as a pride just triples the success rate of a hunt.
Remember now, the Americas had a species of lion that was larger than the African lion. Males where maneless. They died out about 9000 years ago. They were not related to the jaguar family at all. Supposedly, there are a few skeletal remains in the La Brea tar Pits.
A maneless Lion? Have the scientist not mistaken for a female lioness?
Where is that)?
The killer brother lions of tsavo were maneless as well ( not in the movie depiction )
That's right, male lions from Eastern Africa sometimes have really short manes or none at all.
Keep these sort of videos coming, I really enjoyed it 🙂
And let's not forget female lions fight alot they have a lot of experience at fighting

Great comment in the Big Cat World size is everything..
The bite force is totally irrelevant to be honest
A lioness's bite can kill a jaguar
A jaguar's can kill a lioness and some
It's not like either of these cats are heavily armoured like a turtle or a caiman
On the other hand, the lioness can crush a buffalo's skull with a single paw swipe
Which means, it's probably equally fatal on a jaguar
The jaguar has powerful forearms as well
So it all comes down to brute strength
The jaguar is stronger per lb but imo has a significant size disadvantage on average
The lioness wins 6/10

Lion's correct bite force is between 900 to 1100 psi.

The Jaguar is like the pit bull of the big cats.

I like the jaguars 🐆 on this one 😊
Fanboy moment
Lions are fighters and that goes for the lioness as well, in my opinion the lioness would when, lionesses hunt solitary or as a pride and defend their territories fiercely against hyenas and other lion prides.

A jaguar the size of a tiger would be unstoppable and could probably take down elephants by himself. I can only imagine what his bite force would be at that size. 2000 psi?
Perfeito
Lioness would wreck jaguar . Lioness is more powerful and a single swipe would crush jaguars skull
If they struggle against a leopard, a jaguar who is bigger should hold its own. B-utch!
Always love your video's
superb!
Im suprised more people chose lioness
I agree tho
Bite force doesn't play a crucial role here, the size and attitude are the actual deciding factor. Hyenas have a bite force about twice than that of a lion, but hyenas never dare to face a healthy lioness single handedly.
Facts!
Hyenas don't have the strenght, agility and claws of a Jaguar either.
@@bipinraj6449 Yeah i agree but Jaguar un Brazil specifically at Pantanal are Big enough (150 kg) to fight and destroy a Lioness.
I would rather they not fight each other. I want to see what a Jaguon looks like!
good to know there's no winner.. it all depends on the actual individuals that might maybe never meet .. great work
Awesome video
Seeing how lioness kills leopards and knowing they're albeit a little larger than Jaguar.
I believe the lioness would win 3 out of 5x
A Jaguar is bigger than it's counterpart the Leopard and a much more powerful bite force, most lions won't bother with leopard as it's not worth the fate of injury etc so a Jag would be far more of a problem.
I'm not even here to argue. I'm not in the mood for TH-cam. Giving my comment not here to interact with unruly ppl & the alt right. Be well
Namibian lionesses average around 140kg on the other hand largest Jaguars the pantanal Jaguar who average around 100kg.
Depends on if Jag can gets its teeth into the neck or head with a bite force like that you always have a chance
Loved this one. Great job on the commentary. I tend to pretty much fully agree.
jaguar is running that fade
In my opinion the lioness would win , as it is almost twice the size of a male jag .
Also jaguars sometimes come across mountain lions and tend to avoid any fight so if a jag sees a lioness it will probably avoid a fight with it as well.
Jag does have the strongest bite force but the bite force isn't everything you need to defeat something twice your size also there are videos of jags running away from anteaters who are half their size .
Twice the size?

Male Jaguar can Weight AS much as 150kg and lioness between 120-180 so If they both Weight 150kg the Jaguar will win He has all the Advantages sorry
How is a lioness twice the size of a jaguar?
I dont think a jaguar can reach 160 kg weight... but I would bet on the jaguar anyway
@@zeusonolympus123 but you know how much is 450 pounds?! In Italy we have kilos, and 450 pounds would be over 200 kilos. That's maybe the average weight of a male lion... I dont think a lioness can reach that mass. Probably is around 250 pounds

I think all panthera cats can interbreed
Finally a video worth watching with a fair match up
There is a huge exception when the male is there on the lion he always eats first however he will allow the Cubs to eat with him but not the females. They have to wait their turn the Cub doesn't know any better and he'll walk right in there and eat and usually the male lion will allow him. They are the king their sole purpose is to protect the pride and lionesses but contrary to popular belief they are very capable hunters in their own right and always take down the large prey.
The lioness will definitely win
Lioness would win, for the Jaguar to win it would need to be an outlier of a specimen in terms of size.
Imagine Siberian tiger in Africa hunting....lions would have to move on different continent or go extinct
If Jag would enter Africa even worse....Jags could wipe out dozens of species. Lions are like household cats compared to these two

The Jaguar wins. Testosterone plays a big part in strength and aggression. Jaguars are stronger.
You must be dreaming to think jaguars are stronger.
The lioness would win due to her size and power.
The hyena has a high bite force has well but they can’t fight a lion one on one and win. The black jaguar is absolutely beautiful
I have a recommendation: Carcharodontosaurus vs Spinosaurus
(A prehistoric battle that actually makes sense unlike the Rex vs Spino because these two predators actually lived in the same place and time)
If the fight takes place in water, spino will win. On the land it's a different story
i am a huge spino fan but logically a carcharo should win
I’m a Spino fan, but I think my boy would win it but only 55% of the time at most
Carcharodontosaurus wins 55%
Carcharadontosaurus definitely wins
This must me a rhetorical question. 😂 The lion would destroy the Jaguar.
Exactly bro😂
Pretty much.
