Since watching you and the way you home make, I have definitely lifted my game. Im 63 and had lost my cleaning and homemaking mojo. I thought that if you can do all that you do with 8 children, then when its just my husband and I now, I can achieve more., s
O my house has been re sorted and I have gotten rid of a lot of stuff that I didn’t need. My kitchen and pantry are the most organised they have ever been and I’m baking bread. Thank you for your enthusiasm, your ideas and not sweating the small stuff ❤️

She really is a great decorator, and an outstanding example. I just started watching her, I had never heard of her before and she is a Heaven sent, and very inspiring. I got to feeling down and defeated watching her video's, for I too had a bit of a mojo loss. But God told me stop beating yourself up, this girl is much younger than you, and when you were younger, you were the same way...moving and grooving too, did you forget? I said yes Lord, I forgot..haahaa. So don't feel intimated when you see younger people doing so much ok, just remember you once were the exact same way too, you use to move around just like that too, don't forget. Just go at your own pace. Your an awesome homemaker too Ma'am ok. God bless you.🎉🥧🌹😊

I was really skeptical that clearing off my countertops would make much of a difference, but it REALLY did! It makes the whole kitchen tidier, even if there are dirty dishes, and it makes everything feel SO much easier to clean. I would recommend anyone even just try it out!

Yes! A kitchen “refresh” changes the energy of the space, and the people who use it. Helping our kitchens WORK for us, instead of being chaotic, is my goal. I refresh my kitchen every season, and it refreshes me, too.

If you bake every single day, there is nothing better than a Hoosier. Created with a home economy efficiency study in 1911 (?) The Hoosier was a staple in country homes for 50 years. Mine was built in 1939 and still has a working flour mill,a porcelain prep tsble, spice cabinet, knife drawer, pull out cutting board, etc. It allows the baker to do all the prep in one space. I searched FB marketplace, antique stores, auctions and Craigslist. Hope someone finds this helpful if they don't have a ton of space!

The bottom cupboard usually had an enamel work surface on top that slid out to make more space to roll out dough.

I've been so intimidated for so long, not knowing what's behind the paper, thinking the picture behind it wouldn't be removable. Now that the garden doesn’t need me as much as warmer weather I’m finding myself in the kitchen for hours cooking/baking in the morning so later in the day I can focus on other tasks with all the meals ready to eat.

Isn’t it like a breath of fresh air to do a no cost switch-a-roo in a room? You’re an ace at it! I like for my white cabinets and walls (they were the choice of the previous owners) to be clean, but they often look dingy because we really use our kitchen. And I don’t even have any children still running around! I purchased an off brand of Mr. Clean Magic Erasers and they are my go to solution to bring all that white back to life! It removes stains, grease marks, old stains that we inherited from the former administration, ink/pencil marks, and it even brightened up my old linoleum floor! Don’t know if these would work in your situation, but I’m sold! As always, good, useful information that we can all try on our own rooms! Love your channel!🙌🏻🫶🏻 Love the tip for buying and reusing thrift store frames!

My family puts together puzzles over the winter break between Christmas and New Year’s Day. We used to frame them to hang around the house or gift others. We still do this today. It’s a wonderful decoration for the home that also brings back memories of a family gathered event. My daughter hangs many in her preschool classroom and gifts them to some people who comment interest. She teaches her students by making puzzles of things that interest them and having them put the puzzles together on their own.

It is so true, that without me even realizing it, that i get upset with things feeling cluttered and non functional.

You know, if you really, really miss seeing those colorful eggs on your counter during the winter, you could do what my grandmother showed me once, where you make a small hole in each end of the egg, and you blow out the inside parts of the egg into a bowl. Then you can keep the empty eggshells to decorate with.

I also have to constantly go back to things to clean again and fix up. It is part of what life is. It is good that filming is what inspires you to change things up. I think that it can be so nice to rearrange things. I recently have come to wanting to rearrange some things, and have, but I have such a small place that there is little that can be done. I want to knock down walls and change up our rooms a bit even, which our landlord said we could do, but we also hope to get our own house at some point, so we haven't (though we've been in this location fifteen years out of our nineteen married). You did great by the way! I love how it looks now.

Oh boy!!!- this was SO good!! I definitely become paralyzed by options. I can totally relate to fear of wasting money. I love that you said, start with something small. For myself, changing things occasionally is healthy. Just like I am ready for changing of seasons. I’m like you, once I get started, I just get momentum and want to keep going. My husband grew up with parents that never changed things. They would even say “things are meant to be permanent”. He doesn’t understand the need (emotional or practical) for change. But, when I’ve finished with things, he does appreciate the difference. His way of being raised does create great challenge when it’s bigger and/or expensive changes. It can be very discouraging.

It leads me to wonder what it would look like to paint your kitchen area a shade of grey? I think it would make your white goods “pop” as you would say, and create quite a cosy feel. The shade of Grey would be up to you and would obviously need to work with the colour you painted in the dining area. Just a thought. I love so much of what you’ve done with your house. Her Rocky Ridge farmhouse is an example of super efficient design. She and Manly ran a successful egg business right out of that space. The article can be read at the museum. I wish the museum would reprint the article (and others) for sale in the gift shop.

Not sure exactly what kind of peppers you have but you could make a Spanish base called a sofrito. This aromatic cooking base combines the bold flavors of onion, any pepper mostly but green peppers, cilantro and garlic, saving you valuable prep time in the kitchen. A heaping spoonful of Sofrito added to soups, stews and rices is a classic first-step ingredient to authentic Latino cooking. We usually freeze it in mason jars and thaw it as needed.

Lisa, I love your beautiful farmhouse kitchen! A refresh always lifts my spirit with a sense of accomplishment in cleanliness and organization.
I, however, do worry about sweet little Victor as you work at the hot stove or are cutting onions. Onions make cry. ❤ you. Take extra care.

LOVE the pantry art re-do. Like the simplicity of just one piece of art.
And can very much get behind a more cleared of countertops.

I found that anything above the stove gets greasy from splatter and the steam that cooking creates. Your tiny painting might get ruined. It's easy for things to get out of control and drawer's get stuffed and you end up forgetting what you have. Also, once I get started I always have a moment of "why did I start this", but then I just go for it and it ends up being a good thing and I'm happy I did it. A home is a never ending chore and an ever changing environment. You did a great job.

I have "juuj" space x, y, z on my monthly reset checklist for exactly that - if I remove the weird stuff make sure it's all in the right home, re home stuff that shouldn't be there. More often helps it not be over whelming

Your video, I about said your movie. Lol Instead of video. It touched me deeply for many reasons. I was a full time homemaker for many many years. Back in the 80’s and 90’s. I rearranged my home all the time. Constantly organizing areas of my farm house. Lol Surprised my husband didn’t complain. Lol I live in a small apt now alone. Miss my old life :( I was wondering if anyone knows who painted the picture above the stand mixer. I would like to know. Thanks. It pulled me in when I saw it. Your home is so beautiful Lisa. I always thought if I would build a home it would be a farm house design. It would have the old look but with new construction materials. Wouldn’t that be grand. :)

I think you put into words for me why I am constantly rearranging different rooms in my house at different seasons. Even though it may not be ‘better’, it feels different to me as the homemaker and therefore more fresh! The monotony can be my minds worst enemy.
