As a mother and grandmother- I just think you are so nurturing and precious.
I agree with this wholesome comment. ☺
I totally agree!!
Agree!!
That’s a beautiful comment and ohhhh so appropriate for this delightful Momma of 8!!!!!
Agree!!!
As a certified clinical holistic nutritionist, I wholeheartedly agree that bacon raised on a natural diet that is free from chemicals is healthy and lard from the same pig is one of the healthiest fats, and should be one of the only fats used for cooking. Seed and vegetable oils should NEVER be used for cooking. So for anyone concerned about your use of bacon who is still consuming seed/vegetable oils that have been heated (even if you don’t use them at home, but you buy processed foods or eat out, you are consuming them) they are doing far more damage to their health than you are.
😮 and for vegan people?
Thank you for your knowledge
Jew and Muslim and vegetarian and vegan can’t eat lard. Coconut oil is a good substitute I think unless you have something else for us.
@@j.c4007 just another reason that a vegan diet is not something I recommend. Unless they want to eat oil that contains high levels of carcinogens and free radicals, and is one of the main causes of inflammation in the body, they have to either use animal fats for cooking or just not cook with any kind of oil.
@@rachelhele7827 tallow from beef or venison is even better than lard. Vegetarians can use butter or ghee. Vegans just need to avoid eating foods cooked in any kind of oil. There’s no safe/healthy version of oil for cooking (heating above 130-140 degrees) so that is one of several reasons I do not recommend a vegan diet.
So random but I have to say: I'm so glad you're continuing with the Autumn season theme and not rushing through the Thanksgiving season and right on to Christmas. 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Thank you Lisa, cannot wait until you come out with the cookbook, I will be the first to buy it. You are such an inspiration to me, you made Sourdough much less intimidating and got me started. Going on two years now using a lot of your recipes. I refer people to your channel all of the time. I am a big fan. Keep doing what you are doing, you are such a blessing and this is definitely you ministry.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate that.
Literally could just copy and paste your comment.... DITTO! Love your posts, videos and all you share from life, Lisa!! So excited about the cookbook!!!
I second this entire comment!!!
Always enjoy being invited into your home
I’m one of those 50yos who watch you because it’s so calming and so different now that my kids are grown. Love to watch you bake and cook.
I’m obsessed with your home. It’s just so quaint, functional, and nostalgic looking. I was watching a previous video of you in your bedroom and fell in love with your poster bed, got on Facebook marketplace and immediately found a similar one for $25!! I’m also taking little snippets of of ideas from throughout your home to implement in mine.
Love that!
I had an accident not long ago where my dog who was underfoot got hot water in his eye from a lid held over the floor instead of over the stove. He was not seriously damaged but it did hurt him. I hope everyone will learn from this mistake when pets or children are underfoot: Hold the lid from pots and skillets over the stove or counter, not over the floor. I do enjoy your videos.
I love what you said about the sounds on the videos! That was very encouraging to me. I'm a mama of 9 just starting with trying my hand at videos and I know my kitchen will never sound (or look) like most of those I watch on TH-cam, but I wouldn't trade it for anything! Actually, my first full length video was just for fun, and it was an "ASMR" video of what my kitchen sounds like while I wash eggs. It was NOT quiet, but some of the greatest blessings come with the most noise and messes! 😆🥰
My husband always said he never met a family before mine who could eat soup for breakfast lunch & dinner! LOL my absolute favorite, I never realized not all families are like this. IMO that's the best thing about fall & winter.
Yes...we love soup!
I wish to live a life like this
That education your daughter is getting in the kitchen, is priceless..
You are the sweetest thing! If every mother was so nurturing and kind, we would live on a peaceful planet 🙏
I'm going to make myself a sourdough schedule...i.e. double bread Monday, English muffins Tuesday, dinner rolls Wednesday, cinnamon rolls Thursday, pizza dough Friday, etc I'm trying to get into a routine ;)
"if I got to where I made too much food" ha. that made me chuckle. I raised 7 children and for about 10 years in the middle I never knew what leftovers were. :-) it was HARD to wind down to smaller cooking when they were all grown.
Comme je ne comprend pas la moitié des commentaires , je vous adresse mon admiration pour votre amour de votre famille ❤❤😊 et c'est tellement rare à nos jours ici en Europe. Bravo Lisa, tu le fais❤
I just feel so warm in my heart watching your vlogs ❤ just love watching your videos in such awe ❤ watching your daughter bake is such a treat. Such a precious mama you are😊 I learn a little how to be like you with every video
Thank you!
Lisa, thank you and Luke for being such good parents and stewards of the land. America needs lots more like y'all!! 🇺🇲🇺🇲
I am amazed at how great you look to have just had a baby!
Thank you!!
Whenever I watch your videos I like to have me a big cup of hot coffee. Your channel is so enjoyable. GOD BLESS ALWAYS!!!!!
Your little one climbing on the counter whilst you are cooking is so relatable 😅🙌
You make me hungry! Your family is very lucky
Wow your daughter bake a perfect cheesecake you a awesome mommy❤
Actually I love the kids chattering in the background it's really nice
Girl, I healed my oldest son’s eczema with lard. I swear there is nothing healthier than lard. So much vitamin D!
I enjoy listening to your cozy voice , God gives you strength , blessed ,your home is beautiful and your children are blessed with lovely
Mommy , 😊
My favorite too- Outstanding!!!
Patricia
You take me back to days of my mom and grandmothers. My best memories of cooking are learning to cook at their hips. We never had frozen meals, store bought bread, cookies or anything. Thank you for your wonderful videos. I'm addicted.
Loved the tiny clip of Luke baby wearing while vacuuming. I think it’s awesome when I see or hear of other husbands like mine with a large family jump right in and help out because you don’t see that a lot!
Oh my gosh! I am so glad you showed the bottom of your Caraway pan! We have the same set and a gas top stove and the bottoms of our pans get burnt and look dirty. I have tried cleaning them but that stuff is baked and cured on there! I always wondered if others experienced the same!
Як шкода, що я не знаю англійську настільки добре, щоб розуміти вас🫣. Але подобається просто спостерігати за вашою організацією господарства. З любов'ю, from Ukraine.
Can you turn captions on?
Love the old fashioned styles your daughter wears.
You say your family like soup. Allow me to introduce ypu to a northern Swesish concept: soupstew! We have a tradition where I grew up in northern Sweden for a form ofsoup that is a ticker form of soup. The most common type is yellow pea soup with diced ham in. It is made from dried yellow peas that is soaked overnight. Traditionally served on thursdays. We also get pancakes afterwards served with jam and cream. Swedish pancakes are thin, almost like french crêpes. Enjoy
Thanks so much for sharing!
My family of Finnish descent, Thursday is pea soup day, made with a combination of split and whole peas, ham bone, and diced ham. Nice rye bread to go along with this soup.
Gracias, por enseñarmos un estilo de vida, diferente y diria que totalmente saludable, me fascinan tus videos, de echo los veo repetidamente, porqué siempre aprendo. Hermosa familia es la que tienes, gracias.
Agreed, those natural fats are so much better...and I think it's coming out that they are healthier for us. My grandparents used all that and they lived to/are in their 90s.
Are your and Luke's parents like this? The homesteader life? How else could all their kids find it such second nature? Do you have one random sibling that, like, lives in NYC as an actor or something totally different. Lol
I'm interested in how you all seemed to find your path to this lifestyle.
We also built a swing set with those brackets. Still going strong 7 years and 4 kids later!
I love to hear that!
ASMR or not, watching you cook and bake is still very enjoyable and satisfying. God bless you! ❤
I like how to do a talk over for most of your video. Very easy to listen to and enjoyable.
I. Love. Your. Stove/oven!!!!!
Lisa, I admire the lifestyle you and Luke have created for your family! That is what I dreamed ideally as a young person, homebirths included. Bless you.
Can I just come stay with your family for a week? Lol
I’d help you with all the chores and children.
Your channel is fantastic!
Thank you for sharing. ❤
Bacon is HEALTHY!! no matter the source. We don't have to dance around it. Bacon and bacon grease ARE healthy!
One thing is for certain, the family will be hungry and will want and need to eat. Blessings abound!
Do you ever get tired of the constant cooking, cleaning and as much as we love them, the children ?
I don't. If you are familiar with our story, this is the life we worked for and I'm so thankful to be here.
Have you ever done a video or segment about keeping that stock pot of broth going? I use so much store bought chicken and beef broth - I have zero understanding/knowledge on how to do this myself - easily of course! I would be interested in the logistics of keeping your pot going on your gas stove!
I keep it going on the lowest setting around the clock. As I use broth in a recipe, I add back the same amount of water. After a while you will see if the veggies or bones need to be discarded, if so, just add new bones and some fresh veggies ...repeat
love your videos.. its nice to see your children eat what is put in front of them.. such hardy meals.. nice work.
Thank you for sharing this video with us Lisa! I always love watching what you show us. We are empty nesters now so I don't cook like I used to. I love how you take care of your family, making sure they have everything they need! Victor is getting so big! You have a lovely home!
Your site is the best out there. And by the way, you look phenomenal after having 8 children. Don’t know how you do it with all the good food you cook.
I have been watching for a while. I too love to be in my kitchen cooking but never made starter or sourdough bread. I did this week and it came out perfect! Beautifully risen, golden and just perfect. Thanks for the tutorial!
Yummy yummy yummy! ❤
Everything looks delicious. You're a great cook and so is your daughter. Loving your Early American decorations, and those checkered curtains. Love the porch bench swing, and homemade swingset in the backyard. Such a self sufficient and talented family. ❤
I love this house, especially the kitchen who needs silver stainless steel appliances give me white any day is easier to clean, no fingerprints her kitchen is old school I love it 😃 such a relaxing, satisfying channel. Glad I’m subscriber.🤍
This video made me so so hungry and so happy all at the same time🥰
You are a mom of dreams.
Yes and amen to squeezing in extra food making whenever I’m in the kitchen! My best days are when I start dinner at breakfast because the rest of the day I can focus on homeschooling and my brain isn’t rushed. And some days I can even squeeze in quiet time in the afternoon rather than dinner prep before I start driving kids to sports.
I have learned so much from you Lisa, thank you. And I had already been making sourdough for 12 years before finding your channel. But you are truly talented at tweaking and adapting recipes and have allowed me to do far more than I’d ever do on my own. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
I watch your videos for the cozy aesthetic definitely not for optimally heathy recipes. But clearly better than the average persons diet.
“There I said it”… good for you. Home processed pork on grass feed pigs is the absolute best. Growing up on a farm we did it and we fried -sautéed cooked everything in pork grease reserved after bacon. Yes! Blessings Helena Montana
I've been looking forward to the cozy and dimly lit shots to reappear ❤ they are my favorite
Love your videos! Your are an amazing woman and a great mother to your children! Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃 🦃
God bless you and your family!
I agree that lard can be perfectly healthy. Too many people saying it isn't healthy are eating hyper-processed foods for their meals because they have fallen for the nonsense that it is better for our bodies than whole, natural foods are.
To be your shadow for the day and learn, Lisa, is a nice dream. Thank you for another beautiful video! ♥️
Thank you for sharing all your hard learned skills. We are benefiting so much from watching you! It is invaluable!
Beautiful cheesecake! My mouth is watering!
🤤 I am so hungry right now sitting at the doctor’s waiting room with my mom. But if she can hear better after this than watching you doing you is the best thing going. Thank you so much. ❤
Oooh the pastry ideas are sooo timely, thank you!
Very wholesome ❤
Inspired by your video to feed my sourdough starter and try one of the recipes from your blog.
As a mom of a high need baby-babies are not good or bad, they are just precious humans.
Autumn is my favourite season too 😊🍁 Everything is just calmer.
There’s just something so grounding about your videos thanks
You are such an inspiration! ❤
Another great relaxing video with a lot of good information!!!
You are the most inspiring person on TH-cam. I would like to spend a day there to see all the wonderful things you are doing.
Thank you!
They live so beautifully.
This video was amazing Lisa. Ty so much. You are wonderful.
Always love watching your videos, they calm me and slow me down.
I love watching your videos Lisa 😊❤
Delicious looking food! Good for Johanna ❤ yum! Can’t wait for your cookbook!
HAPPY FRIDAY Lisa, family, and fur babies. STTB
Your videos are so comforting ❤ gives me the same warm feeling I had as a child growing up with my grandparents. HOME ♥️
Love that!
Awesome! I'm living in southern Germany which is as far as I know the home of those kind of pretzels and pretzel buns. I always enjoy them with fresh cold butter. A 🥨 to go is like the first thing toddlers get to eat here and they grow up on it.
In German it's not common to have buns as side dish for dinners. We just eat them for breakfast with butter and jam, deli and of course chocolate spread.
With soup we'll rather have baguette or bread.
I love to learn about different kitchens. Am still amazed how much effort Americans put into breakfast. In Germany people use to eat the same breakfast every day, either cereals or bread. Those who usually have cereal might eat buns at weekends with the above mentioned toppings and hard boiled or scrambled eggs...
Whatever that tells about us. ;)
How cozy and comforting!😋Potato soup is a staple for us! 🥣🥨 Love the new swing set! 🥰 Enjoyed watching!
Wow I'm just so impressed❤🎉
Love your videos!!!They always inspire me and always leave me hungry!! God bless.
Such an inspiration!! Love your videos,God Bless 🙏❤️
Thanks to you, I've started to really settle into homemaking with a toddler and newborn in tow. I love your videos! Also, your No-Knead Sourdough Recipe has become a weekly staple for my family.
I'm so glad!
Love how your pretzel buns turned out. My family has a cheeseburger soup they love and this would be great to go with that.
We love cheeseburger soup too...
Live your videos ♥️👏🏻thank you for inspiring young moms like me!
I love watching you do homemaking. Now, off to the kitchen to get some soup started.
I needed this today. You make me feel like everything is achievable. Also, you look amazing!
So great teaching us all with baking. Love the swing set my dad built me one when I was a kid. He would set up a sprinkler and we would swing thru it in hot weather! Great memories ❤
How fun!
The pretzel buns! Yum!
I believe Luke, that mushroom pastry looks AMAZING!!!
I followed your sourdough starter recipe a couple of months ago and was finally able to obtain a good starter after having failed in the past using other recipes. Right now is a season when i just don't find the time to make sourdough bread and i always felt bad about keeping my starter in the fridge without really using it. I then stumbled upon a video in which you showed how to use sourdough discard. I made the discard crackers and they are delicious and so fast to make! I sprinkled parmesan on top of the herbs which complements the slight acidity of the discard very well. I am so glad to benefit of my starter (grains are fermented and better to digest), but in a way that suits my current schedule. Thank you so much for all the information you provide❤
hey girl- loved the video! Such yummy dishes😀😉😋
That's so nice about the playground.
It is nice that you and your sister help one another. Having a sister sounds so nice.
Pretzel buns sound great. I recently made soft pretzels for my family but it was a slight off. I need to improve upon my recipe. I love soup and dipping bread into it. Mmm.
Your daughter looked like she had so much fun sprinkling the chocolate on her pie.
I really would love to be in the kitchen with you and learn and cook with you. It is so strange how even though I have been a housewife for 19 years, I feel like I have only been really immersing myself into recipes and baking in the past few years. In some aspects I feel like a beginner and in others an "old hat."
Victor is getting so big now! Aw.
Thanks Lisa❤
Wow … so thankful that I came across your TH-cam channel. Love it!!👍🏼👍🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙏🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼🥧
I too feel cosy and calm watching you create in your lovely home 🏠 Your children will all want to learn how to make your bread and many of your recipes. Your daughter’s desserts look lovely and I’m sure will continue to evolve and be brilliant 👏🏼
Awesome!
Beautiful, as always, Lisa. Johanna - that cheesecake looked amazing! I'm 2 months into making sourdough - I absolutely love it (and so does my family)! Today I shared my starter with my sister-in-law and gave her a demo on how to make her own bread. The love and nurturing you share through these videos inspires us to do the same to others - thank you! 💕
