I'm much older than you and my past days number much higher than more future ones, so at this point I understand even better that rushing through life decreased my enjoyment of it and it actually shortens my perception of the length of time. Jennifer, your smaller flat in England was very nice. Do you ever, when you get back home to your large house in California, miss the smaller, simpler, convenient home you had in England? We are elderly now and don’t travel much anymore but I remember the feeling when we would first walk into the hotel room on a trip. The simple, sparse decor and furniture was so calming and comfortable. I would always promise myself that when we got home I was going to downsize. And eventually I did. Donna

I pray you get to feel the reset, renew and refresh that you are seeking. I love the quote to steady ourself in the morning by not allowing a sense of urgency to penetrate. A wonderful reminder to guard our peace.
I love the quote about beginning the day unrushed. I attempt to embody this myself (it's a practice!). And I was touched when I saw the framed copy of Lessons from Madame Chic on the wall. This is the book that kicked it off for me years ago: coming back to myself and living a more intentional life. Beautiful!
Oh Jennifer! This video resonated with my past self as a teenager helping my mom with my siblings. Mom raised us alone without any support, so as the oldest I was like a second mom to my siblings. I remember having a dream/nightmare and waking up screaming "I'm only one person" it frightenend my mom and my siblings😅 Even now in my 60s I remind myself to rest, and it's okay to rest. There are still days where I do not want anyone asking me what the weather is, let alone doing anything for them. Please take care of yourself Jennifer, You deserve it❣🤗
Your husband looks so masculine and strong, yet was raised in a genteel English home; and chose to marry a beautiful genteel lady similar to his mother, how wonderful is that !
Your mother in law can come and decorate my house anytime! The apartment looks like it belongs in a decorators magazine and how sweet of her to have the framed cover of one of your books on the wall! She's very special for sure. Every time I went to London (during the years I lived in Europe,) I'd always stoped by a bookstore and buy and Agatha Christie novel, imo, it's a must whenever you are in London. Enjoy your vacation!

As a homeschooling mom, with 2 in college, and a single mom and her son living with us, everyone came to checkin with me. Now I live a quiet life with my husband and one son.

I can completely understand needing to heal your nervous system as I am always working on this as part of healing from trauma. One ritual I use is on one workday where I need to be up before the sun I watch your latest video with a coffee and a candle in the bath. It turns being up at 5 am into a pleasure rather than just a burden. Now it’s winter I’ve also added ten minutes of stretching and meditation in front of our wood fire before the bath.
I do hope you look into Sematic exercises. They work to calm/realine your autonomic nervous system by releasing trapped stress. As always, a lovely video!
Another question is how do you tackle jet lag? I believe London is about six hrs behind? Dr Andrew Huberman has a video on it if you're interested for your trip back!

Hi Jennifer....I can guarantee you that the very moment you stood outside admiring that glorious and picturesque view, with that first sip of your delicious coffee, that your nervous system went completely into reset. When we are able to just stop, breathe, admire anything beautiful, and stay calm, even for a moment...we are reset. I know your life can seem overwhelming at times but I promise you...one day you'll look back and say to yourself that you did take those moments to reset, and that you did deserve to. You are absolutely doing it right my dear. ❤

Hi Jennifer. I’m always excited when you’re in the UK as I love seeing what you observe about our lovely country. I’m not sure if you’ll have any time in London but it’s worth doing a Hampstead Village/ Heath tour if so. The area around Kenwood is just lovely. You can take a picnic or eat there and just walk for hours and the viewing point at the top of the hill is fab. There’s even a bench dedicated to Jim Henson who lived there in the 1970s! With your love of history/tradition I think you’d enjoy the area. There’s also a small Bloomsbury painting exhibition on at The Garden Museum in Lambeth which is worth a visit. At least the weather is now gorgeous for you! ❤
I LOVE the idea of removing urgency. I saw a funny video recently that said "I'm sorry I'm not replying to your texts right away - I'm understaffed! It's just me in here!" 🤣 And while it really made me laugh, it also made me think! My goodness, why AM I expecting myself to take on the work of 2 or 3 people? I really resonate with the idea of setting the intention each morning to just recognize that there is no urgency! ❤

Hi Jennifer. I’m always excited when you’re in the UK as I love seeing what you observe about our lovely country. I’m not sure if you’ll have any time in London but it’s worth doing a Hampstead Village/ Heath tour if so. The area around Kenwood is just lovely. You can take a picnic or eat there and just walk for hours and the viewing point at the top of the hill is fab. There’s even a bench dedicated to Jim Henson who lived there in the 1970s! With your love of history/tradition I think you’d enjoy the area. There’s also a small Bloomsbury painting exhibition on at The Garden Museum in Lambeth which is worth a visit. At least the weather is now gorgeous for you! ❤

I LOVE the idea of removing urgency. I saw a funny video recently that said "I'm sorry I'm not replying to your texts right away - I'm understaffed! It's just me in here!" 🤣 And while it really made me laugh, it also made me think! My goodness, why AM I expecting myself to take on the work of 2 or 3 people? I really resonate with the idea of setting the intention each morning to just recognize that there is no urgency! ❤
