Takagi Marco Ultra G Series Slit Lamp Mag Changer Stiff/Sluggish Refurb

This applies to the G2/G4/G5 Ultra Galilean style Mag changers. There are two different types that I notice here. On the type where the detente mechanism is on the inside, the bearings are the same on both sides. On the type where the detente mechanism is on the right side under the knob, the bearings on the left side are easier to access. There is a Phillips screw on the collar.
The grease in these bearings gets old and stiff which may be the issue you are addressing.
Clean the bearings and put some thin oil (Rem oil) on them.
Upon reassembly, leave a little space between your bearings and the collar and a little space between your collar and your knob. This may help insure everything turns smoothly and easily.
If something happens and your alignment is off: Insert a focus bar and look through your binoculars and twist the mag axle one way or the other until it is back in alignment before you tighten the Allen screw on the collars.
