LAY HO MA (how's it going in Cantonese)! This veggie bowl is easy to whip up and it's an absolute crowd winner. Join me in this episode and learn how to make this delicious quinoa and vegetable bowl recipe that's also fantastic for feeding a crowd. Let's begin!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup quinoa
1 cup water
150g arugula
50g parsley
2 mini cucumber
1/2 cup olives
400ml canned hearts of palm
400ml canned chickpeas
1/3 cup hemp hearts
1/2 red onion
1 tsp + 2 tbsp olive oil
350g cherry tomatoes
1 lemon
1/2 tsp salt
pepper to taste
Directions:
1. Place the quinoa into a small saucepan. Rinse and drain, then add in 1 cup of water. Heat on medium high heat
2. Add the arugula into a large mixing bowl. Coarsely chop the parsley and add to the bowl
3. When the water to the quinoa begins to bubble, give it a stir. Then, cover and cook on medium low for 20mins
4. Dice the mini cucumbers and add to the bowl. Slice the olives and add to the bowl. Chop the hearts of palm into bite sized pieces and add to the bowl. Rinse and drain the canned chickpeas and add to the bowl along with the hemp hearts. Thinly slice the red onion and add to the bowl
5. Fluff the quinoa and let it cool for a few minutes
6. Heat up a nonstick pan to medium heat. Add 1 tsp olive oil followed by the cherry tomatoes. Allow the cherry tomatoes to char for a couple of minutes. Give them a toss and allow to char again for a couple of minutes
7. Transfer the quinoa to the mixing bowl. When the cherry tomatoes begin to blister, transfer them to the mixing bowl. Add the juice of 1 lemon, salt, pepper to taste, and 2 tbsp olive oil. Mix to combine, then plate to serve

Thank you!!!
I love your cooking and your cookbooks! They look like a prize to have on my shelf🥰. Thank you
Where do I find your free ebook?
Watching you is a meditation and this looks unbelievably delicious!
I swear, all of your videos need to be playing in spas/massage rooms. So tranquil and relaxing, while learning at the same time! I think an audio-book companion to your books going through 5 or 10 of your favorite recipes in the boom would be a great addition!
Looks delicious! I'll omit heart of palm and add avocado.
Or a crunchy option,
maybe water chestnuts 🤷
Adding pomegranate is tasty also! Thank you for this delicious recipe.
Yesss! I like your style 👌🏻
It’s like a play on your “Arugula Quinoa Bowl” (p. 128) of your cookbook. I like the idea of charring the tomatoes. Nice option! 😋
Great eye and absolutely 🙌🏻
Thank you!! As always, you solved my dilemma. I was worried about what to feed 15 of my kid’s college classmates who have visited some of the Blue Zones and are interested in eating mindfully.
We heading into Summer , here in South Africa ...
This is a perfect lunch/dinner ❤❤❤❤
Yummm 🙌🏻
Hi
The way you present your cooking and the way you talk … all ends up so smoothly and relaxing that you want to cook this plate. Excellent again. 😊🎉
Seriously?! Everything you make is a work of art 🥰
Wow, that’s very kind of you to say 🙌🏻
Perfect recipe for the fall season here in North America! I sprinkle hemp hearts on just about everything I eat! Excellent source of protein, omega 3 & 6 and fiber. I love blistered plum tomatoes! There are several great comments with alternatives for the hearts of palm! I’m going to try it with avocados and pomegranate seeds! Happy Sunday ❤
You out did yourself in this dish! Those cherry tomatoes took my breath away sooo succulent and delicious looking. If I was making this dish i am not so sure all of the cherry tomatoes you had would have made it into that bowl. I love cherry tomatoes right off the vine. Great dish!
Hahah, it is difficult not to snack on all of them 😅
Cooking with produce you've grown yourself elevates your dishes and skills to another level of relationship with food and, if applicable, feeding the wellbeing of others.
Grow your own tomatoes; make your own fresh dressings.
It looks delicious 😋😋😋
This looks just delicious. I am very MUCH against using hearts of Palm, so I will use Artichoke hearts in their place. Your videos are just fantastic, so hoping my palm heart message does not offend anyone.
Agreed :) I also thought to substitute with artichokes. Any idea what 'Hemp parts' are?
@@queen_of_green420They are hemp hearts or also called hemp seeds. High in protein, omega 3&6, and fiber. I put them on just about everything I eat or blend them in my protein smoothies. I buy the Manitoba Harvest brand. Fresh and delicious!
@@queen_of_green420Hemp Hearts are basically hemp seeds.
What is wrong with using hearts of palm? Truly curious
@pblonrongracie on Google it says that harvesting the core from a palm tree with only one stalk means the entire plant dies, leading to deforestation and destructive monocultures. In some cases, species of palm trees are reaching near extinction.
Quinoa has grown on me so much in the last few years. Once you realize how versatile it is it becomes such an awesome staple in healthy home cooking. Can’t wait to try this recipe. Best part is almost everything you used is in any home cooks kitchen already!
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Thanks you for you delicious healthy recipes
Enjoy! 🙌🏻
This was fabulous - not my typical salad ingredients and I love it. I added a little avocado for serving. It is so nutrient dense - I am excited I have so much left for the week. Thank you!
In England, we call them plum tomatoes, not cherry. Very different flavour. This dish looks absolutely stunning....my mouth is watering xx
They’re baby plum tomatoes.
Also known as grape tomatoes. Plum tomatoes in North America are much bigger.
Would've fantastic idea for a salad. Sautéed tomatoes makes any dish better.
My daughter would love this recipe! I’ve share it with her! Thank you for amazing recipe to share with her! 😊

Can I just point out how amazing your voice is!! Just relaxing, soothing, and a little dreamy 😊
I made this with a couple of changes and it was delightful. Been eating it for a few days as it kept well. Didn't have enough rocker so included chopped kale and baby spinach. Couldn't find palm hearts so used artichoke hearts. Don't like olives so included some chopped black garlic. This is a great and super easy salad. Thank you ❤
I made this recipe last night. It was fantastic AND it didn’t spike my blood sugar!
I love quinoa salad 😊 i love this salad with falafel 😊
Sounds like a dreamy combo 🤤

@@YEUNGMANCOOKING dear Yeung, I am subscribed here to a number of cooking channels that I find interesting, but yours is special not only of aesthetic, but also that you offer simple but genial ideas like this umami spice here - I use all the ingredients, of course, but I myself somehow did not come to just mix it all in advance, and of course you must also know proportions - it is just genial!
Can’t wait to make!
Happy cooking 🙌🏻
It looks like salad with quinoa!
That looks great, love that the tomatoes are charred, will definitely be trying this over summer

Yum!
I'm planning on taking quinoa salad to my cousin's 90th BD party - this looks like a winner! I love the idea of sautéed tomatoes - I often chop and salt tomatoes, then add fresh basil and let that marinate a bit to use as dressing - this is a lovely option!
Edible Art!
Que Rico 😋
Wil, your salad game is next level! Thank you!
You are so welcome! 😎🙌🏻
I was about to ask about couscous

🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
that looks extremely healthy
Looks beautiful and delicious ❤
Thank you
I tried so many of your recipes, and not a single one was disappointing. This one is another winner. But did you miss the oil?
And one more question about the liquid of beans in the can. On the can, it says that it's a liquid where beans are cooked. So why is it required to rinse beans off it? Also, you suggest using it for mayo.
Just want to know your opinion of a wonderful experienced cook. Thank you.
Yung Man Cooking, you're always preparing amazing dishes . And they are very healthy and nourishing all the colors of a beautiful garden.
Made this for lunch today. Best salad ever! ⭐️ 🥗⭐️ So many flavorful ingredients that work incredibly well together. This is an instance where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. I did substitute avocado for hearts of palm, but kept everything else the same. So delicious! 😋
Fantastic recipe 👍😊
🙌🏻
Your all dishes are very interesting 👍❣️
I am going to make this tomorrow. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Looking forward to hearing back 🙌🏻
This is everything! Yummy! ❤

It's so good! 🙌🏻🥳
This looks so delicious. I will have to try it, but I've never had hearts of palm, I must say. I hope they're tasty.
I make a cold quinoa salad that i eat all summer. This looks wonderful for transitioning to fall. I'm a huge fan of quinoa, and the lemon juice/olive oil dressing is an amazing taste!
So good to live vegan!
I am a bit ashamed to say but, I just finally made quinoa!!! I love it!!! Your creation takes it "Out of this World"!!!💞💞🙃💞💞

This is a recipe worth the effort. I would top it with a soft pillow of pecorino romano cheese and swoon. Thank you Wil
You said meal prep… how well does it keep? I’m embarking on a 3 year fitness journey. I won’t try to keep it 3 years but it will be a good dish to have.
Sooo yummmmy. Thank you ❤️❤️🙏🏼🙏🏼👑
Finally a recipe without soya and oister sauce 😅 refreshing
Yummy, I can't wait to try this recipe.
Thank you Yeungman.
God bless you for your creativity in cooking.
What a power bowl if one ever saw one
😁
YEEESSS, just what I was hoping for, thank you for this recipe!
My pleasure 😊
I find 2:1 water to quinoa ratio gives a mushy quinoa. 1.5:1 on the other hand gives a mire fluffy texture.
Thank you. I’ve never eaten palm hearts. What do they taste like? Anyone.
slightly pickle-ish, salty, soft aftertaste. lovely texture and juicy
