    I lam loving your little budgie video.Its so interesting to watch them and know what their little actions mean. A little budgie was my first little pet at 8 yrs old. One day he was sneezing and a little puffed up.I was sooo upset.They didnt have any avains vets like today. My dad went over and took my budgie out .He went and got a little disposable new eye dropper and put a drop of brandy in it , took my little budgie and gave him a drop of brandy.He did this for a few days.I was upset that he was doing this. But guess what, my little 10 yr old budgie was all better eating and chirping and sitting on my shoulder.Whatever my dad did worked and i never ever forget it.Bless him. Thanks Donna , your little budgies are all unique, very adorable little guys.💝❤️🤗

    Great video! We took our female budgie to the avian vet after I messaged you for advice. She has a hormonal tumor. They gave her a shot and sent 3 more home for us to give her every 2 weeks. I don’t think I can do it but we can take her back to the vet and they will do it. $350. Vet bill but she’s worth it. I hope she has a good outcome!

    My budgie bravery just died...i thought bravery was a boy but towards the end i dont even know...she looked inflated from her belly close to where she poops from. The first sign i noticed was blood. I started giving her vitamins and the blood stopped and i gave her antibiotics and she seemed to be doing better but just wouldnt recover fully. I was giving her vitamins and antibiotics for a week. I petted her for the first time as she passed away..she was making the noises they make when they are getting ready to sleep..i hope she was comfortable and enjoyed her last moments. I love you bravery..

I learned a lot; my 4 budgies do most everything you covered here, yet I never understood what they were really doing: hopping, preening, tail-wagging, yoga, face-rubbing, regurgitating; even "pleasuring themselves"; I can see that Jack's testosterone is really peaking now. Very informative video on budgies! An interesting thing I've noticed with my birds, is my budgie picked up part of his song from my cockatiel, who picked his song up from all the Cardinals we get in our back yard. I can play a TH-cam video of cardinals singing & both with sing all to it, yet when I watch your channel & they hear all your birds, they sing along with them & sometimes call to them after your video has finished like Gilbee's doing. :D

      @kirabowie 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Loveofpets Thanks! It's good to know he's not the only one who does it. Do any of your budgies like bells? Mine LOVES his one toy that like fluffy cotton on a stick with a bell on the bottom & he not only plays with the top part of that toy, but he likes to sit on his ladder (which is close to it) and put the bell on his head like a hat. XD He also has a toy that's beads on a wire in a loose curl shape that also has a bell & he likes to pull it & let it go so the bell rings. He's such a lil silly, but I LOVE him. :D

    • @kirabowie
      @kirabowie 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Loveofpets It could be because I got both as babies & since they don't have others of their kind here, they learned their songs from other sources. Right now Cookie, my budgie, is trilling & he LOVES playing with the toys that have bells on the them & he now adds bell sounds to his song. I'm sure some of your other budgies in your flock sing like some of your other birds too. :D Don't canaries learn their songs from other canaries? If they do, I think it's kind of the same thing. Anyways, birds are such fascinating creatures & I love them! :D

    Thank you for this great video I haven’t had parakeets for long and as I was watching the pair we have I was concerned that one wasn’t letting the other get to the food dish and I was worried they were being aggressive when one sat on a perch as the other sat on the food dish and would touch beaks with the other. I was afraid this was a mild fighting but after watching your video I believe they were feeding each other they don’t mind sitting together and they talk to each others all day chirping and trilling etc.

    I really like you show the positives in birds behaviors. I have 4 budgies and 2 tiels in my room. There free flyers with a faux tree. It's 6ft by 5 ft. with about 20 branches made of 5 types of branches.it hard to bond with 1 bird due to the fact that other birds get jealous and interupt any sessions. One bird will fly to me and within 30 secs or so another bird will interrupt. Any suggestions? My tiels are especially jealous. P.s are your birds less likely to argue/ fight when your in the room?

    Glad you pointed out some of the hormonal stuff. Which brings me to my question - go you have any tips for dealing with excessively hormonal birds? My (single) budgie is about 8 months old, and I guess that testosterone has finally kicked in. He suddenly become the cage casanova, rubbing on and trying to mate with everything in his cage - toys, perches, chattering to and regurgitating into stainless steel food and water dishes (I guess it's because he can see his reflection), and it pretty much goes on all day. On it's own, it wouldn't be a problem, because I assume eventually his hormones will die down a little. Problem is, that now he's become territorial and tries to bite me when I need to switch up his toys, or give him fresh food and water. I've tried changing his toys, his cage setup, and even lowering his daylight hours, but nothing is helping.

    Thank you for this video. It definitely helped me figure out what’s going on with my male budgie. He is much more aggressive than I remember the budgies we had as kids being, so I assume those budgies were probably females. I was told my parrotlet might be too aggressive with the budgie, but it turns out that the budgie chases the parrotlet around and seems to want to bite the parrotlet. Now I think that’s his way of trying to become friends, or to get the parrotlet to feed him. At least I hope so 😀

    Very informative as usual. Is Benny’s tail always that short or because the few long ones just fell off from moulting? Is the gray one a hybrid between an English and American budgie? He just seems slightly bigger than the American but is not as big as the English and doesn’t have the squinty eyes or huge facial spots.

    • @Loveofpets

      Hi, let him out of the cage and he may flap his wings and try to fly. Put him on the floor and do walking recalls and he start flapping his wings to come to you.
      Use spray millet as a treat.
      Put him on your finger and raise your hand up and down slowly and say flap your wings. If he flaps his wings praise and give him a treat.

    5:00 I don't think that's completly normal and healthy if they do it to frequently. Our budgie use to do that non-stop to every object in our house and to the point we'd find regurgitation everywhere. When we took him to the vet she told us that he had a hormonal imbalance and that he needed a and injection treatment called "Lupron". He was a little down the first time he got the injection, but afterwards, he stopped doing it as much and became less agressive and seemed less tired etc.

    • @Loveofpets
      @Loveofpets  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree, it could become a problem if this is all they do all day and each day and regurgitate at the same time. Some birds are obsessed with doing this.

    • @paolac.1678
      @paolac.1678 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Loveofpets Yes, some budgie owners might not know why their budgie may be acting agressive and seeming distressed constantly for no apparent reason. It can be very unhealthy, another sign of hormonal inbalance is sometimes their voice changes when they squack, it happened to him, not sure it happens to all of them though. Strangely enough, our other budgie, who is also an adult, has never once tried to do this, he acts like a baby, i hope it isn't bad sign either. I suppose each budgie's different. Thanks for sharing this informative video, videos like this help a lot of pet owners to learn more each day.

    Fabulous! I have a 4 month old English budgie and a 6 month old regular budgie. So far they seem to mostly enjoy each other and get along. But you say the regular ones can annoy the English ones. The English is definitely less active and more laid back than the regular one. Do I need to worry ?

    • @Loveofpets
      @Loveofpets  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They can be together as long as they get along. If you see the the regular budgie bothering your English Budgie too much then you may have to separate them. I had to separate mine a few times especially during breeding season as the regular budgies were biting the English Budgies feathers and pestering them to exhaustion.

    this has helped give me alot of insight to the behavior of my own budgies (its been a few confusing months since i gotten them) i got 4, 3 american and 1 english, 2 girls 2 boys
    Huey (american) gets along very well with our Nova (our english) and they preen eachother and dance together and feed etc etc, they are calm and kind to eachother
    But.. here comes the trouble kid, Aries (american) is being a pest and constantly ask every budgie for attention even when they clearly dont want it..esp our american female Vera that he came with (not same cage but same store) and im not too sure what i can do if he is the issue, he bites at Hueys feathers and holds them to a point of Huey screaming..i got 2 cages but they are all kept together in the big one, what can i really do about a pest like Aries? (all of them are above 8 months)

      @Loveofpets  29 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Some budgies are very pesky. I had to rehome one as a single pet. I had to keep him separate due to this issue. He is young so he may stop doing it. It's best to keep him in his own cage and let out separately.
      Sometimes young budgies will be like this and stop or continue.

It's as if Dos-chico forgot to fly and seem to be depressed. I try hard to make sure he has the sun, he seems to come alive with the sun. He's been taking my a more bird baths in the bird drink and won't use the bird bath. The bird doesn't seem to fly anymore , or chirp anymore. He was sleeping on the bottom of his home a week ago. He seems to lean on one side and doesn't even want to communicate to suezy-Q. His bones are strong, his break is nice and white now. His eating and I notice he scratched his head. It's the 3 to 4 baths he is taking and he won't use the bird bath. Should I just leave him be to himself? chris alexander---"Da--Bronx."

    Awww your budgies look so cute 😁.I have two budgerigars, Both are male( chibi and berry). Berry is going through his puberty , like... he is tapping his beak on chibi who is also a male and berry also regurgitate to chibi . But these aren't appreciated by chibi . He is giving warning sign to berry . and sometimes chibi accepts the food which is regurgitated by berry . But chibi hates beak tapping ! When berry taps his beak on him he starts to give warning signs by opening his beak. We thought this would get pacified sooner but now it got worse. They both fight and sometime it is hard for me to stop their fight . so I decided to keep one of them in separate cage but both of them miss eachother, he try to reach chibi and chibi also do the same . So again we kept them in the same cage and they started their fight again! I don't know what to do. It is like he want chibi but if chibi is with him , he again starts to peck . It would be really helpful if you can tell a solution for this :)

    My newest, and only budgie chases my parrotlet and cockatiel away. S/he stands on the back of my canary winged parrot until it gets booted off. I don't know if the budgie is male it female because it's a Latino.

      Its neat that you have a canary winged Parrot as they are rare here. What color is your lutinos budgie cere?

    • @eabird4358
      @eabird4358 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Loveofpets The cere is a light purple. Canary winged parrots are hard to find here. Mine was hand fed but not tame when I got him/her.

      @@Loveofpets I dont think it's a year old yet. Acts like s/he wants to mate with the CWP. Check out The Finch Farm. I dont know if they ship to Canada. That's where my Yoshi came from.

      Hi, if she didn't eat it she will be okay. I am not sure if it would be a problem if she ate a tiny bit. Watch her closely for any symptoms of illness and call your Avian vet ask them if she needs to be seen.

    Hi there ,
    I have a 2x2 meter aviary with 6 canaries that are separated for breeding and breeding and the young birds come into the aviary but are then sold directly (if I know the sex). Now I would like to add either 2 parakeets or 2 parakeets and 1 welli. Is that okay ? I offer their own food for everyone and the aviary has a protective area that is not heated but warm enough to overcome. What do you say ?
