My budgies like to chirp loudly behind me anytime I'm on the phone. I've had someone comment over the phone that they were loud! But that's one of the best parts of having birds.
I lam loving your little budgie video. Its so interesting to watch them and know what their little actions mean. A little budgie was my first little pet at 8 yrs old. One day he was sneezing and a little puffed up.I was sooo upset. They didnt have any avains vets like today. My dad went over and took my budgie out .He went and got a little disposable new eye dropper and put a drop of brandy in it , took my little budgie and gave him a drop of brandy. He did this for a few days.I was upset that he was doing this. But guess what, my little 10 yr old budgie was all better eating and chirping and sitting on my shoulder.Whatever my dad did worked and i never ever forget it.Bless him. Thanks Donna , your little budgies are all unique, very adorable little guys.💝❤️🤗
Great video! We took our female budgie to the avian vet after I messaged you for advice. She has a hormonal tumor. They gave her a shot and sent 3 more home for us to give her every 2 weeks. I don’t think I can do it but we can take her back to the vet and they will do it. $350. Vet bill but she’s worth it. I hope she has a good outcome!
Great video ! I learned a lot; my 4 budgies do most everything you covered here, yet I never understood what they were really doing: hopping, preening, tail-wagging, yoga, face-rubbing, regurgitating; even "pleasuring themselves"; I can see that Jack's testosterone is really peaking now. Love seeing your videos; I can name all your budgies now. As always, your birds look great.
I really like you show the positives in birds behaviors. I have 4 budgies and 2 tiels in my room. There free flyers with a faux tree. It's 6ft by 5 ft. with about 20 branches made of 5 types of branches.it hard to bond with 1 bird due to the fact that other birds get jealous and interupt any sessions. One bird will fly to me and within 30 secs or so another bird will interrupt. Any suggestions? My tiels are especially jealous. P.s are your birds less likely to argue/ fight when your in the room?
Very informative video on budgies! An interesting thing I've noticed with my birds, is my budgie picked up part of his song from my cockatiel, who picked his song up from all the Cardinals we get in our back yard. I can play a TH-cam video of cardinals singing & both with sing all to it, yet when I watch your channel & they hear all your birds, they sing along with them & sometimes call to them after your video has finished like Gilbee's doing. :D
@@Loveofpets Thanks! It's good to know he's not the only one who does it. Do any of your budgies like bells? Mine LOVES his one toy that like fluffy cotton on a stick with a bell on the bottom & he not only plays with the top part of that toy, but he likes to sit on his ladder (which is close to it) and put the bell on his head like a hat. XD He also has a toy that's beads on a wire in a loose curl shape that also has a bell & he likes to pull it & let it go so the bell rings. He's such a lil silly, but I LOVE him. :D
@@Loveofpets It could be because I got both as babies & since they don't have others of their kind here, they learned their songs from other sources. Right now Cookie, my budgie, is trilling & he LOVES playing with the toys that have bells on the them & he now adds bell sounds to his song. I'm sure some of your other budgies in your flock sing like some of your other birds too. :D Don't canaries learn their songs from other canaries? If they do, I think it's kind of the same thing. Anyways, birds are such fascinating creatures & I love them! :D
Great Video. Glad you pointed out some of the hormonal stuff. Which brings me to my question - go you have any tips for dealing with excessively hormonal birds? My (single) budgie is about 8 months old, and I guess that testosterone has finally kicked in. He suddenly become the cage casanova, rubbing on and trying to mate with everything in his cage - toys, perches, chattering to and regurgitating into stainless steel food and water dishes (I guess it's because he can see his reflection), and it pretty much goes on all day. On it's own, it wouldn't be a problem, because I assume eventually his hormones will die down a little. Problem is, that now he's become territorial and tries to bite me when I need to switch up his toys, or give him fresh food and water. I've tried changing his toys, his cage setup, and even lowering his daylight hours, but nothing is helping.
Thank you for this great video I haven’t had parakeets for long and as I was watching the pair we have I was concerned that one wasn’t letting the other get to the food dish and I was worried they were being aggressive when one sat on a perch as the other sat on the food dish and would touch beaks with the other. I was afraid this was a mild fighting but after watching your video I believe they were feeding each other they don’t mind sitting together and they talk to each others all day chirping and trilling etc.
My budgie bravery just died...i thought bravery was a boy but towards the end i dont even know...she looked inflated from her belly close to where she poops from. The first sign i noticed was blood. I started giving her vitamins and the blood stopped and i gave her antibiotics and she seemed to be doing better but just wouldnt recover fully. I was giving her vitamins and antibiotics for a week. I petted her for the first time as she passed away..she was making the noises they make when they are getting ready to sleep..i hope she was comfortable and enjoyed her last moments. I love you bravery..
Very informative as usual. Is Benny’s tail always that short or because the few long ones just fell off from moulting? Is the gray one a hybrid between an English and American budgie? He just seems slightly bigger than the American but is not as big as the English and doesn’t have the squinty eyes or huge facial spots.
Hi, yes the grey one is half English Budgie. Benny has been molting and lost his long tail feathers and they will grow in soon. Hope you are well. Stay safe.
My budgie sometimes makes a loud sort of “annoyed” chirp whilst preening. To me it sounds like he isn’t comfortable. He only started doing it in recent weeks and we’ve had him since 2019. Is this something to worry about? Is there something wrong with him and I should be concerned?

5:00 I don't think that's completly normal and healthy if they do it to frequently. They can be together as long as they get along. If you see the the regular budgie bothering your English Budgie too much then you may have to separate them. I had to separate mine a few times especially during breeding season as the regular budgies were biting the English Budgies feathers and pestering them to exhaustion.

So again we kept them in the same cage and they started their fight again! I don't know what to do. It is like he want chibi but if chibi is with him , he again starts to peck . It would be really helpful if you can tell a solution for this :)
Hi, I would keep them separate and put the cages side by side. Let them out together but house them separate for a break from each other.
thank you so much :)

My budgie just chipped a little nailpolish off my nail..will something happen to her??
Hi, if she didn't eat it she will be okay. I am not sure if it would be a problem if she ate a tiny bit. Watch her closely for any symptoms of illness and call your Avian vet ask them if she needs to be seen.

Hi there ,
I have a 2x2 meter aviary with 6 canaries that are separated for breeding and breeding and the young birds come into the aviary but are then sold directly (if I know the sex). Now I would like to add either 2 parakeets or 2 parakeets and 1 welli. Is that okay ? I offer their own food for everyone and the aviary has a protective area that is not heated but warm enough to overcome. What do you say ?
