Note: If I was worried about every time my budgie was puffed up, I'd be an anxious wreck 24/7. Budgies also poof up when they're relaxing and sleeping, so general poofness isn't a good indicator. You can look for other symptoms along with being poofed. Unkempt feathers, general lack of energy, cere/eye discharge, feces consistency/color, etc. Budgies love poofing up in a healthy state, so don't take this one symptom as a tell-all.
0:35 I thought the perch shuffle meant "too hot" because my room was chilly and I put the fan heater at the covered cage for a while, with my head under to check temperature. After a while he did the perch shuffle until I turned the heat off or down and then he did it again when I turned it back up.
That’s very likely that your budgie was doing that because of the heat :) I think generally it’s just a way to catch the attention of someone. Our budgie was doing it to impress our female budgie 😋 But they have many different reasons for their behaviour.

I have one budgie called Tommy. 2 of his friends died both in the past years. So he is alone sadly. But he is not depressed or something! He is healthy, happy and is interested at me A LOT haha. When I talk to him, he stares to me all the time and sometimes he reacts to me what I'm saying so we have a little conversation sometimes. He can also say his name and a little phrase like "Tommy sweet" translated to Dutch, it is "Tommy lief". And the funny thing is that he learned talking by himself I didn't learn him the words. He is 7 years old now and is my best little buddy :D And when a budgie stands with one little paw, that is also a sign that a budgie is healthy and comfortable . My budgie does that luckly
Wow, 7 years old, that's a great age! 😊 Yes, I think as long as a budgie gets a lot of attention from the owner(s) when other budgies have died, it will be ok. The main thing is that a budgie should have enough social interaction 😊 I'm glad to hear your budgie is doing well, even after his friends died. It's great to have such a relationship with your bird 😊
Love this!! 💘 I love their beak grinding at the end of the day, it shows me that I'm looking after them to the best of my abilities. Happy birbies means a happy hooman 💖💓💗😊
@@misty_blue sometimes when I watch my 4 boys, I could cry at how funny, beautiful and perfect they are.... except for when they're full of testosterone and squabbling 🤣🤣❤
@@misty_blue also....I used to have a couple that would coo like a Dove!! Not many of them do it, but when they do you know that their life is totally amazing and they can't be happier 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
@@misty_blue I thought I was going mad when I heard it, I used to have a flock of 13, so it was hard to pinpoint who was doing it 🤣🤣🤣 I narrowed it down to my boy Coconut, he used to spin in circles and do rollovers!! ..then Clarence started doing it.. so I Googled it and yes, they can coo when they are super happy and content 😌😊xx
Great video overall! Please note that the word for cleaning themselves is not "pruning," it's "preening." All birds do it, and if they are a mating or bonded pair they will preen each other - allopreening.
Recently I found and caught a budgie OUTSIDE!! This was less than 24 hours ago, but my family got a small cage just big enough for it, and some food, water, toys, and a large treat for it to help keep it as relaxed as possible, I'm trying to do a crash course on budgies to help understand it better as we have never owned birds before and don't have experience. But this really helped!! Thank you! Ps: We are calling it Sprite, we are fairly certain its a female, and it seems fairly lethargic, maybe from stress, but if someone could tell me what that means that would be nice
Wow that's great that you took in a rescue budgie 🥰 I'm glad I could help out! Sprite is a very cute name 😊 It's quite normal when they sit very quietly at first, especially females. They need to get used to the new surroundings. Some get more comfortable after a few days, some after a few weeks. Do you have spray millet? Putting a piece in the cage can really help her feel more comfortable. Sometimes it helps budgies to play a video of singing budgies (I like the one from Mango and Chutney), but it can also make them feel more stressed so be careful 🤭
@@misty_blue She is a whole lot more active! We have her by the window right ow and she livened up and is chirping up a storm! She also loved the budgie noises I made for her, and I have seen quite a few people mention the spray millet, I'll have to check that out, it seems all budgies are obsessed with that!
@@mittens2773 that's great to hear! 😊 Yes they generally like being near the window. True, spray millet to budgies is like chocolate to humans 😋 Just make sure to give only a bit per day because they tend to overeat it 😋
@@misty_blue Good and bad news about her! We've named her Sprite, if we can't find her owner, which the bad part is it seems we may not, but we're gonna keep looking for a few days, anyway if we can't find them, we have a family friend with Three budgies, and a whole ROOM, and I mean BIG room just for the budgies, along with a giant cage, so she will be taken care of if we can or can't find the owner, for now she is destroying her egg/honey treat and dancing by the window! PS: There is a really good thing coming out of this We find baby birds that are way to small to have even atempted walking around our house, as well as injured birds, And because of this budgie, we have a cage and food for any bird that we need to take to our local society! Of course if we find a baby bird, we probably are going to treat it as such and give it something warm in the bottom for it to snuggle up with. Hell, we might even use the cage for any moles ,or other critters, that we need to move. So overall. This could not have been a better experince for us.
@@mittens2773 I’m glad to hear that it’s been such a good experience! And it’s great that you found a good home for Sprite 😄 It’s sad if you can’t find the original owner, but most importantly she is healthy and happy 😊
Thank you so much for this video I got budgies a week ago and they are still getting used to the place, one it green and the other is blue and I named them sky and ivy
Thank you for your very informative video. My little Joey is a real chatterbox! His vocabulary is incredible! He sits on my finger for ages nattering away, "Does Joey want to go to bed", "Let's get you some fresh water", "Hello Cerys", "Hello Jade", "Cheeky Boy", "Joey Kiss", "I love you", "Night Night", "God Bless". The only thing I'm concerned with is his moulting. He was clipped by the breeder (he's 1 year old in November) and because of his loss of feathers, he has zero flight. Apart from when I'm away from home for the day, his house doors are open all the time, but he drops to the lounge carpet when he wants to come to me poor soul. I think it it is so moving to think he is prepared to fall 3 feet to the carpet to come to me. Of course most of the time I go for him and bring him to my chair on my shoulder. He is a very special little pal. ❤
Gladly done 😊 Wow, Joey knows a lot of phrases! It's amazing when budgies can speak like that. I'm sorry to hear he can't fly 😕 I never really understood why people clip wings. What is a bird without flight? But I'm glad to hear you're taking such good care of him. He sounds really happy with you 😊 I hope somehow he recovers from the clipping one day!
@@npr1300A8 are you from Scotland? I feel like I recognize the lake in your banner picture. I stayed near Loch Lomond once in a village called Croftamie. Beautiful place 😊
@@misty_blue No, I'm from Lancashire, England. That is Derwent Water in the Lake District. The photo was taken from Surprise View, Queen Victoria's favourite view apparently.
It's been a week since I got my baby Budgies. The caretaker at the store confused me all the more and in the end I ended up getting 3 males and 1 female. The 4 get along well but I'm still a little concerned of how they'll behave towards each other when they grow up.. are all the 3 going to literally attack my 1 female when and if they want to mate.
I think it's more likely that the female would attack the males, but if she has a quiet character, she might be fine with the males. Males generally have a soft character so they don't attack in a very aggressive way. If you had 2 females or more, the chance for fights is bigger, because females fight each other more often. Maybe the males fight each other to impress the female, but I doubt it will be very bad fights. I think your budgies will be fine 😊 In the end, some fighting is normal for budgies, it's how they communicate. You only need to watch out that they never become very aggressive.
I have a flight cage, with 5 budgies in it. I love watching them interact with each other, but I love watching them flap their wings in flight ( inside the cage).🤗
Opening and closing beak rapidly they do when they are warm. Birds do not sweat like we do, therefore they regulate body heat by ventilating when it is hot or fluffing up their feathers when it is cold.
Loved the video. Amazing 😊Such cute budgies.I have two and I am totally new to budgie as pets. can you help me with the bird bath details. loved it.interested in getting for my budgies🥰
Glad to hear 😄 Have you seen my video about bathing?: th-cam.com/video/GZ8oNjlx1zI/w-d-xo.html In addition to what I say in that video I also recommend putting wet greens on or in their cage. You can hang them or place them in a shallow bowl. For instance carrot greens, wild grass or fresh herbs. Many budgies love to wash themselves in the wet greens. I really like the budgie bath I have, but only some of our birds use it. Others prefer wet greens or a mist spray.
I currently have 20 budgies. Several were rescues, some of them think I am an Alien while some think I am the greatest thing in the world. And, it is preening not pruning ;)
Wow 20 budgies. That's amazing 😮😊 it's great when you can rescue animals like that. Thanks for the correction! I always mix up pruning and preening, but I think now I'll remember 😁
Thanks 😊💕 Right, I forgot to explain 🤭 It is dangerous, especially for the female, because she can have problems with egg production. Eggs can get stuck in the vent or parts of unformed eggs can block the vent. In the worst case they could die because they cannot digest and poop normally anymore 😮 I am planning a video on it, because we had some personal experience with it (thank God our budgie survived!). It can also cause unhealthy offspring, because the parents are too young and they cannot give healthy eggs/seeds. Or, the parents don't take care of the eggs, because they don't know how yet. In short, budgies under 1 year old are underdeveloped and they still have to learn how to be parents.
6:21 My love bird always goes out of her nest to see what i am doing, im usually washing dishes of organizing the kitchen, wich is not that interenting but she loves seeing me 😄
In the video you see parsley/cilantro (parsley is a bit better because cilantro is a bit too strong) and iceberg lettuce (but I recommend other lettuces like romain and rucola because they are healthier).
i bought 4 budgies yesterday and today i just sat there giving them space and they stared at me without making any noise yesterday they were really loud but now they seem more calm
In the video it's either parsley or coriander 😊 But those two can sometimes cause problems for budgies so nowadays I give wet endive, grass, basil, mint or Romain lettuce instead. Or carrot greens. They especially love endive 😁
Often it is because they're hormonal or they're molting. Then they can be more irritable and fight with others. Sometimes it's because they want to be the boss of the flock or because they simply don't like one or more birds in the flock. It really depends on the situation 😊
lol I want a budgie really bad and my mom and dad said okay but we have to look for one so we went to a ton of stores and none of them had budgies where did you get your budgies?
Sorry, I didn't realise I hadn't responded! Great that your parents agreed 😊 We got two budgies at a pet store (it's the biggest pet store of Europe I think. That's why they had many budgies). And two budgies from a breeder. I personally prefer getting them from breeders because they're usually more used to humans and better taken care of. Some pet stores sadly are pretty bad.
due to covid budgies are hard to get from what I was told by pet store when I was searching for new budgies due to my ones i had for ages died. (one from egg died in September 14 yrs 8 months ikd and 1 died from tumer.

The one I have always gets to the side of the cage where I sit and climbs on the cage still. I don't know why he likes to follow where my hand goes but he always wants to bite my finger any, reason why it's doing that?
Some of our budgies like to chew our fingers to test what they are and if they are safe. They generally like to chew things 😋 Sometimes they do it to defend themselves if they feel threatened.
Okay my budgie, Tucker, I really feel like he sleeps on the fricking *wall* All three of my budgies have something wrong with them.... *Boo sits in the food* (Boo is my other budgie) Also, 6:45 is how Boo looks at me when I show her the millet..
They all have their special character 🤭 Our Blue used to sleep upside down and Pacalina dances in a very silly way 🤣 Pacalina also likes to sit in the food 😋
Hello i have a question, i had a budgie but it flew away like 1 year ago but still, it was making sounds like coughing and i don't get it why, even tho he started making sounds when we bought ut and it lived wuth ous 5 or more years
Yeah it can be tricky with birds from the pet store sometimes. They're often not very used to humans. Maybe your bird can improve with click/target stick training?
I'm so sorry to hear 😢 I think for sensitive birds like budgies it can be hard to survive in the wild, especially if they've never lived in the wild. But maybe someone saw it and decided to take it in to take care of it. I really hope your budgie is alright! 💕
If I go near my budgie and jump down to his level while saying “what are you doing” in a higher pitched voice, he will do the wing flappy thing and kinda of vibrate (?) in a way. I definitely think it’s excitement! 😄❤️
It's possible to train them, but it will be more chaotic and progress will be slower. I sometimes train our six birds together and it did make them more social and some of them now jump on my hand. The more shy birds usually don't train though because the active birds push them away. When you train them one by one you can get more results, but our birds get nervous when they're separated. So training them all together is kind of our only option 😋 I try to look for moments where some birds are busy with something else so I can train just a couple of them.
Yes they love to be in the highest places 😊 It's like being in trees in the wild. They can see everything and are further away from the predators on the ground
If the female tries to lay eggs before 1 years old, she can get health problems like getting the egg stuck (which needs surgery immediately or else she dies). It can also lead to calcium shortage, which is bad for their health. Or the parents get exhausted by the chicks because they're too young to have babies. Those are some things that could happen when they have a nest before they are 1 year old. Hope that helps 🤗
Raw broccoli, spinach (in small amounts), fresh herbs like basil, mint, cilantro (in small amounts), wild grasses, certain plants like chickweed and dandelion, leaves from certain trees like Hazel and maple or grape leaves. Those are some options 😊 Oh yeah, carrot greens are also a good option.
My budgie's cere has a little tiny piece of thread in it. and around that spot, it is bleeding a little bit. He doesn't seem to be uncomfortable or in pain but i was wondering if i should take him to an avian vet. And also love your video's 😊
I think for something like that a vet is best. It can be dangerous to try and remove it yourself. And if you leave it there it might get infected. If possible, it's best if you go to an avian vet 😊
I think the first step in figuring out a diet for your budgies, is discovering what they want to eat. You can, for instance, take a new food every week and give them a little every day so they can get used to it. If they eat it, you can regularly feed that food to make their diet more diverse. If they don't like it, you can try another food. That's at least what I'm doing now. Our budgies don't like fruits so far, except for dried fruits. They do like herbs like basil, parsley and cilantro. And veggies like raw broccoli, cabbage and lettuce. I stopped giving lettuce however, because it's mainly water with no nutrition. It can give the birds diarrhea. I also tried kidney beans and corn and egg with crushed egg shell, but so far they haven't touched it. I'm planning on trying bird chop and/or budgie cookies. I've heard those recipes can really help with introducing different foods to budgies. Do your birds have a cuttlefish bone? It's important for their chalk intake 😊
@@misty_blue may i know if v are feeding coriander with it's stem, basil leaves, chopped apple....bt how often to give in a week and how mch quantity ...i hop u are getting my query
@@stellalopes6313 whenever we fed them coriander and parsley, we give it with the stems. They love the stems the most. I give a handful every morning. Not apple though, because they don't like it. I have started washing the greens thoroughly, in a bowl of water with a few drops of apple cider vinegar. I saw a bird TH-camr do that to remove any chemicals that may have been sprayed on it.
@@stellalopes6313 Budgies Norway told me she feeds her flock coriander every day in small amounts and her birds are fine. I think the chance is small that the coriander was the problem.
@@misty_blue so far my budgies like coriander and it stem the most ,followed by basil, green and red spinach, i had planted seed mix in a pot they even eat that. Today for the first time v jst tried peeled soaked n chopped almond without cover...is it ok to feed that?
Hazel is one of their favorites. They also like fresh herbs like basil and parsley (in small amounts). Carrot greens and spinach (in small amounts) are a favorite. Some like dandelion and they love wild grasses. You can also try groundelder, chickweed or maple tree (not red maple).
Pet shops have some special foods that give extra nutrients they need when molting. Offering foods like greens and some extra millet can give them the vitamins, minerals and energy they need. I try to give them extra rest during that time, not disturbing them too often. A bath or shower with a spray bottle can also help against itchiness.
I use Adobe Spark (on the website) 😊 I'm not sure if you can use it without an Adobe membership, but you could try 😊 The wing flapping is very cute ❤️😁
I've read budgies can get along with cockatiels quite well, because they sometimes also live together in the wild (they're from the same region). So I think it's quite normal when one of your budgies likes the cockatiel 😊 I've even seen a budgie who is friends with a ring neck 😋
One thing that's very important is to never make sudden movements and to not approach them with your hands too fast. It can also help to talk while you approach them because they generally don't trust other creatures that are very quiet (predators are quiet when approaching prey). I also wink/blink at them quite often because I noticed it makes them more relaxed. I basically try to mimick their body language, also turning my head like them. What can help is placing your hand flat on the cage daily. Just placing it there for a minute or longer so they get used to it. And millet sprays tend to help a lot 😇 When you put some millet spray on your hand, suddenly they are able to overcome their fear 😋 Although it might take a while before they dare to approach. In short, they need a lot of good experiences with your hands to learn that they're not a threat.
I have the same bath for my birds lol they love it, also what if they aren't breathing heavy or stressed, but open their beaks slowly while blinking slow; is that a bad sign or am I worried about nothing?
I heard that sometimes they open and close their beak slowly to 'adjust' their crop. Sometimes the little sack where they store and process their food, apparently kinda feels uncomfortable. And they can correct it by opening and closing their beak like that. I noticed mine do it after they eat sometimes. Maybe sometimes a seed or something else irritates them. I'm not an expert on it, but I heard that's one of the reasons. Others say that they sometimes get hiccups. I think it's not very serious. Maybe only if they do it constantly, then it might be something else.
It's quite possible your budgie is molting. They change their feathers several times per year, including their tail feathers. In a while, your budgie should have new tail feathers 😊
@@harrymilan2898 they do change all of their feathers yearly, so also flight feathers. But it happens gradually, so in normal cases they are still able to fly. If you feel like your budgies' molt is extreme, you can try feeding egg food to help to grow the new feathers.
Having two budgies is very new for me..It's been almost 1.5 month..But I very often get worried about whether they are okay or not and if we are being able to take care of them correctly..I heard from some of my friends about accidents..And I am afraid..I don't wanna lose them🙂
I get that. I often think like that as well 🤭 They're fragile animals. But remember, birds can also sense how you feel, so it's important for us to be relaxed, happy and positive around them. I know it can be hard, but they will be happiest and healthiest when they see us happy and relaxed 😋
In spring and summer I like to give them different types of wild grass and dandelion. I wash those very well, especially against mites and other insects. In winter and autumn I try to take organic vegetables from the supermarket, like broccoli, arugula, Romain lettuce. If you can find it, you can also take leaves from certain trees, Hazel is safe for instance and they love it. Oh yeah, we also have mint and basil plants, of which we give give them a bit every week.
Do you mean he's just sitting against the wall all day? Maybe he is scared or he needs extra stimulation. Budgies are very social so they need other birds or humans to interact with them. Otherwise they just sit quietly all day. You could give foraging and chewing toys for stimulation, start training your budgie or play budgie sounds for him. Maybe that way he will become more comfortable and more lively.
They are usually quite cheap yes :) Although, if you want to give them a varied, quality diet and plenty of toys, then it could be a bit more expensive.
@@misty_blue yes! But sad story is, i had 3 budgies, white, green and blue, the blue one was my favourite, we did not bought her, we found her. She was with me for like almost 1 month. He is the only budgie i have now...i miss my green and blue budgies so much... 😢😢
hi i just found a budgie bird that fell down on my porch (idk if its from neighbors) but its quiet and doesn’t move does it mean its sick or just uncomfortable
They are usually quiet in unknown environments and stressful situations, so it's not necessarily sick. If possible, I'd place it in a quiet place with access to water and seeds (or other food that's ok for budgies) to see if it slowly starts getting back to normal. I hope you can find its owners!
Alright! Hope you can help it 😊 You can ask me anything you need 😁 Do you know what budgies like to eat? Ours really love grasses (like the wild type of grasses). I wash it with apple cider vinegar before I give it. They also like fresh herbs like basil and cilantro (although they shouldn't have too much of it). Dandelion leafs and carrot greens are also a good option 😁
They can get health problems because their bodies are not fully developed yet. Females can get egg binding (the egg doesn't form properly and stays somewhere in the body) or she could even die if it's too exhausting for her to lay eggs and raise chicks. Sometimes they're too immature and they don't know how to take care of chicks. And the chicks could also have complications if the parents are too young.
I personally wouldn't do it when the budgie is a female, because females sometimes even try to lay eggs when they have no mate. For a male budgie I think it would be ok. For a place to rest you can also consider a platform (cork or some other wood) or half a coconut 😊
My little devil ( love her sooo much) uses my index finger like a beak stone. Whenever she gets bored with playing with me she just bites me and sends me away :)) when she fells down, usually after bath she tries to fly before her wings get fully dried, she calls me to rescue her and gets on my hand willingly. But other times when she doesn't need my help or something she rarely jumps on my finger. We have been together for 3 years now and our relationship has not improved yet, I think it is her character. She is just stubborn.
It's very possible it's her character. Our Mini is also like that, quite a fierce character 😋 She's sweet, but she can sometimes struggle with getting along with other birds. And it seems like biting is in her genes because some of her children like to bite 🙃
It depends on a couple of factors 😊 - The personality. Some budgies are super active and some super quiet. Our Misty just likes to sit quietly, but she's healthy. - How long you've had them. The first days to months that you get budgies, they can be really quiet because they are still getting used to a different environment. Sometimes you can stimulate them by playing budgie sounds. - Sometimes they're quiet when the weather is quite dark and gloomy. They should liven up when the sun comes out. - sometimes it's illness, but I think you would notice it quite well. Before our Pacalina died, she was sitting with her eyes closed and her head tilted upwards and her feathers very fluffed up. At the end she could only sit in a corner on the bottom of the cage
Hello I have 4 buggies but they don't like to take a bath. If I place a water source in the cage they don't even go there to enjoy it. What I need to do according to you in my place it's too hot but they don't like to put water on them.
There are three things that have worked for me: - Install a bath permanently so they can use it whenever they want - Hang wet greens in their cage. They will use the wet greens to wash themselves - Spray a mist spray near them. Some will like going into the mist spray because it’s like rain to them
Osm Video Hey can you tell me how to breed a scared budige? Actually two of my Budgies are rescued They both were sitting on my window pane almost dead . But they both are right now good 👍 But..... They both cannot be tamed becoz They are very scared They do not even breed Can you help me with this
Do you have any idea how old they are? I've heard budgies should only breed between 1-3 years old. So that's the first thing to check 😊 One thing to try and tame them a bit is starting a training program (like click training) and move veeery slowly. The goal is not to teach tricks or anything, but to slowly encourage them to interact with you. If they are of the right age and they're relaxed and happy enough, then they also need to find each other attractive. I heard green is most attractive to females because it's the original color of budgies (before genetic change). But, the color is not all that matters. Their personalities should also be compatible. If all of those factors are right, then you could place a nest in the cage, because it encourages them to mate. The nest should be strong and high enough in the cage and the opening shouldn't be too big (they are afraid predators can get in). I've noticed they're more interested in mating when they have a lot of green things to eat. To them it's a sign that the season is good and that they have enough to feed the babies. I hope that helps 😊

You can look for other symptoms along with being poofed. Unkempt feathers, general lack of energy, cere/eye discharge, feces consistency/color, etc. Budgies love poofing up in a healthy state, so don't take this one symptom as a tell-all.

Best pet I could’ve ever picked! We have two! They’re just over a year now!
Glad to hear you’re happy with your feathery friends 😊 They’re really fascinating animals!
He is 7 years old now and is my best little buddy :D
And when a budgie stands with one little paw, that is also a sign that a budgie is healthy and comfortable . My budgie does that luckly
Wow, 7 years old, that's a great age! 😊 Yes, I think as long as a budgie gets a lot of attention from the owner(s) when other budgies have died, it will be ok. The main thing is that a budgie should have enough social interaction 😊
I'm glad to hear your budgie is doing well, even after his friends died. It's great to have such a relationship with your bird 😊
My Joey often stands on one foot and is so cute when he hides it in his feathers. I'm an amputee and so I think he's copying me haha.

I have had 5 different budgies so far in the last 30 years and all did this when they would see me. I always thought it was a form of salutation
Great video overall! Please note that the word for cleaning themselves is not "pruning," it's "preening." All birds do it, and if they are a mating or bonded pair they will preen each other - allopreening.
Thanks 😊 Yes I've started using preening instead of pruning since several people pointed it out 😋
Recently I found and caught a budgie OUTSIDE!!

When My Budgies See Me They Often Stretch Their Wings.
I’ve noticed the same! I think it’s because they’re preparing to fly away in case they feel in danger (they see us as predators 😋)
Yeah, they’re wonderful creatures to observe 😊 Their flight is pretty impressive!
@@misty_blue yes indeed! I watch them at times for hours!♥️ Quite entertaining!
Same here 😊
Opening and closing beak rapidly they do when they are warm. Birds do not sweat like we do, therefore they regulate body heat by ventilating when it is hot or fluffing up their feathers when it is cold.
Yeah they also do it when they are warm ☺️ Though other times it's because they are stressed. It depends on the situation.
Loved the video. Amazing 😊Such cute budgies.I have two and I am totally new to budgie as pets. can you help me with the bird bath details. loved it.interested in getting for my budgies🥰
Glad to hear 😄 Have you seen my video about bathing?: th-cam.com/video/GZ8oNjlx1zI/w-d-xo.html
In addition to what I say in that video I also recommend putting wet greens on or in their cage.
Very informative vid!! loved it! but what happens if i give budgies less than a year nests?
@@misty_blue thank you soo much for the explanation! ❤️

In the video you see parsley/cilantro (parsley is a bit better because cilantro is a bit too strong) and iceberg lettuce (but I recommend other lettuces like romain and rucola because they are healthier).
Thank you for this
Gladly done! 😄
i bought 4 budgies yesterday and today i just sat there giving them space and they stared at me without making any noise yesterday they were really loud but now they seem more calm

What greens are those , thanks.
In the video it's either parsley or coriander 😊 But those two can sometimes cause problems for budgies so nowadays I give wet endive, grass, basil, mint or Romain lettuce instead. Or carrot greens. They especially love endive 😁
that video was sooo nice but i have a question what does it mean when my budgie is fighting more than usal

Hello i have a question, i had a budgie but it flew away like 1 year ago but still, it was making sounds like coughing and i don't get it why, even tho he started making sounds when we bought ut and it lived wuth ous 5 or more years
It might have been an infection. Budgies are quite sensitive to infections. I'm sorry to hear your budgie flew away 😢
My little guy Bongo is a pet store bird, and he's incredibly stubborn. Sometimes I'll be sitting there and he just walks up to me and bites me!
Yeah it can be tricky with birds from the pet store sometimes. They're often not very used to humans. Maybe your bird can improve with click/target stick training?
That moving the beak rapidly one is a constant habit of my budgie thanks I don’t know what it meant also is violet a rare budgie colour?
No problem 😊 I think violet is quite rare for budgies. I'm not an expert on breeds, but I don't often see violet budgies.
My parakeet flew away from the garage 1 month ago I tried doing everything for it to come back any chances it’s still alive in the wild?
I'm so sorry to hear 😢 I think for sensitive birds like budgies it can be hard to survive in the wild, especially if they've never lived in the wild. But maybe someone saw it and decided to take it in to take care of it. I really hope your budgie is alright! 💕
If I go near my budgie and jump down to his level while saying “what are you doing” in a higher pitched voice, he will do the wing flappy thing and kinda of vibrate (?) in a way. I definitely think it’s excitement! 😄❤️
That’s so cute! 🥰 Yeah, I saw it with other budgies that they flap their wings like that out of excitement and happiness ☺️

Yep I love it! And I love your Videos
I have six budgies in a cage is it possible training them at a time
It's possible to train them, but it will be more chaotic and progress will be slower.
Mine spent a lot of time on the cage. New to having birds but other stuff here makes me think they just like it there
Yes they love to be in the highest places 😊 It's like being in trees in the wild. They can see everything and are further away from the predators on the ground
What will happen if you provide nest to budgies before they are a year old?
If the female tries to lay eggs before 1 years old, she can get health problems like getting the egg stuck (which needs surgery immediately or else she dies). It can also lead to calcium shortage, which is bad for their health. Or the parents get exhausted by the chicks because they're too young to have babies. Those are some things that could happen when they have a nest before they are 1 year old. Hope that helps 🤗
so what kind of greens are good for them
Raw broccoli, spinach (in small amounts), fresh herbs like basil, mint, cilantro (in small amounts), wild grasses, certain plants like chickweed and dandelion, leaves from certain trees like Hazel and maple or grape leaves. Those are some options 😊
Oh yeah, carrot greens are also a good option.

If possible, it's best if you go to an avian vet 😊
some times when they open their beak it can be because they are finding space in their body for more food
True! 😊 Also to adjust their crop 😊

Pls help me with a weekly diet plan for budgies, inorder for them to be healthy and happy
What kind of green leaf I can put for them?
Hazel is one of their favorites. They also like fresh herbs like basil and parsley (in small amounts). Carrot greens and spinach (in small amounts) are a favorite. Some like dandelion and they love wild grasses.
You can also try groundelder, chickweed or maple tree (not red maple).
is there any thing you could do to help a budgie from molting, beacause my budgie is molting and i want to help her
Pet shops have some special foods that give extra nutrients they need when molting. Offering foods like greens and some extra millet can give them the vitamins, minerals and energy they need. I try to give them extra rest during that time, not disturbing them too often. A bath or shower with a spray bottle can also help against itchiness.

hi my budgie ignores all the other budgie and only feeds my cockatail is it ormal for budgies to feed birds from other breeds ?
I've read budgies can get along with cockatiels quite well, because they sometimes also live together in the wild (they're from the same region). So I think it's quite normal when one of your budgies likes the cockatiel 😊 I've even seen a budgie who is friends with a ring neck 😋
@@misty_blue thanks i was concerned for a hot second i thought that my budgie thinks it's a cockatiel now 🤣🤣
Haha 🤣
My birds clean themselves in front of me and eat in front of me but when I put my had in front of the cage they get pretty scared any trips for me?
I found one tail feather of my budgie at the bottom of the cage, what does that mean?
It's quite possible your budgie is molting. They change their feathers several times per year, including their tail feathers. In a while, your budgie should have new tail feathers 😊
Will it also shed flight feathers..
@@harrymilan2898 they do change all of their feathers yearly, so also flight feathers. But it happens gradually, so in normal cases they are still able to fly. If you feel like your budgies' molt is extreme, you can try feeding egg food to help to grow the new feathers.
Thank u
Having two budgies is very new for me..It's been almost 1.5 month..But I very often get worried about whether they are okay or not and if we are being able to take care of them correctly..I heard from some of my friends about accidents..And I am afraid..I don't wanna lose them🙂
I get that. I often think like that as well 🤭 They're fragile animals. But remember, birds can also sense how you feel, so it's important for us to be relaxed, happy and positive around them. I know it can be hard, but they will be happiest and healthiest when they see us happy and relaxed 😋
What type of greens do i give them ?
In spring and summer I like to give them different types of wild grass and dandelion. I wash those very well, especially against mites and other insects.
In winter and autumn I try to take organic vegetables from the supermarket, like broccoli, arugula, Romain lettuce. If you can find it, you can also take leaves from certain trees, Hazel is safe for instance and they love it. Oh yeah, we also have mint and basil plants, of which we give give them a bit every week.
My budgie is sticking to wall all the day what should I do
Do you mean he's just sitting against the wall all day? Maybe he is scared or he needs extra stimulation. Budgies are very social so they need other birds or humans to interact with them. Otherwise they just sit quietly all day. You could give foraging and chewing toys for stimulation, start training your budgie or play budgie sounds for him. Maybe that way he will become more comfortable and more lively.
Ok
Budgie are very sweet and affordable parakeet to everyone I think 🤔
They are usually quite cheap yes :) Although, if you want to give them a varied, quality diet and plenty of toys, then it could be a bit more expensive.

Thanks! 😊
hi i just found a budgie bird that fell down on my porch (idk if its from neighbors) but its quiet and doesn’t move does it mean its sick or just uncomfortable
They are usually quiet in unknown environments and stressful situations, so it's not necessarily sick. If possible, I'd place it in a quiet place with access to water and seeds (or other food that's ok for budgies) to see if it slowly starts getting back to normal. I hope you can find its owners!
@@misty_blue okay ill try that and let you knowww if anything else happened thank yu
They’re so cute when they fluff their feathers!
They are 😍😃
they look so chubby and adorable 🥺
@@ashlyntherat2196 like little chickens 😍🐤
What happens of you give budgies that are under a year old nests?
They can get health problems because their bodies are not fully developed yet. Females can get egg binding (the egg doesn't form properly and stays somewhere in the body) or she could even die if it's too exhausting for her to lay eggs and raise chicks. Sometimes they're too immature and they don't know how to take care of chicks. And the chicks could also have complications if the parents are too young.
Birb and birby LOL
Exactly 😁🐥
Is it ok to provide a nest to a budgie if it is under a year old but does not have a companion, simply as a space to rest?
My baggie does not fly or move much is this a bad sign
It depends on a couple of factors 😊
- The personality.
There are three things that have worked for me:
- Install a bath permanently so they can use it whenever they want
- Hang wet greens in their cage. They will use the wet greens to wash themselves
- Spray a mist spray near them. Some will like going into the mist spray because it’s like rain to them
My budgie loves to be picked up and pet:,) she often falls asleep when I do it aswell
That's really cute ☺️ Some budgies are very tame!

Hey can you tell me how to breed a scared budige?
Actually two of my Budgies are rescued
They both were sitting on my window pane almost dead .
But they both are right now good 👍
But.....
They both cannot be tamed becoz
They are very scared
They do not even breed
Can you help me with this
Do you have any idea how old they are? I've heard budgies should only breed between 1-3 years old. So that's the first thing to check 😊
One thing to try and tame them a bit is starting a training program (like click training) and move veeery slowly.
@@misty_blue so sorry I am replying really late 😪 😢 cuz youtube showed this comment two months later !!
