I got my first budgie and the pet store told me it was a boy. It was more quiet and didn’t chirp as often. I got my second budgie which was also a boy. Wasn’t until later I realised the first one was actually a female. Took me half an hour to adjust to the shock but got over it very quickly and I love them both to death. I can see the traits in the female as she bites harder and is definitely more bossy to the male one.
I had two male English Budgies for 10 years in the same cage. Bebe had a blue cere Michael had a lavender-ish cere. At the advanced age of 10 years, Michael laid an egg!

We have 3 budgies, an old female (10 years old) and two young males (6 and 9 months old). Our previous male passed away 9 months ago. Females are more "aggressive" (not aggressive, but I don't know the right word for it right now) to other budgies, but are very sweet for humans when tamed. Males are softer, but they can be territorial. Our old, passed away, male was my best friend. He almost ignored my girlfriend. If the female tried to come to me, the male attacked her. When i first got budgies i had 2 females without knowing Thats because i had a baby budgie almost a month old I got a male when i found out i had 2 females but sadly the female that wanted to lay eggs didnt like him and killed him (Rest in peace Milo) But now i have another male that she likes and they had 3 babies One of the baby budgies doest have fingers or the long wing feathers it needs to fly but he is happy with my other female budgie (They love sleeping together and share their food)
I kept budgies for a while. It all started when I went to the vet to collect one of our cats after she had an operation, and while we were there I saw there was a beautiful blue budgie in one of the post-operation cages. The vet told me he had flown into the windscreen of a car right outside their door, that he was thankfully fine and he needed a home. No prizes for guessing that gullible here agreed to give him a home. So then I bought several of the largest cages I could find, combined them together and took out the walls between the cages so that he had a decent-sized space to fly in. I then went to Tooting Market (in London) to buy him some friends. I bought 2 birds from the male budgies cage, but it turned out that the person who sexed them had got it wrong (they were young and the skin patch around their nostrils [called the cere] was still an indeterminate colour), and they turned out to not only be one of each sex but a pair, so once again my original budgie was isolated. After I visited another local pet shop I found another friend for him (female) and thankfully that went well, so 2 nesting boxes later there were 11 babies and 4 adults. And then I visited my normal pet shop for treats and food for our cats, the budgies and our daughter's hamster and, guess what?! Somebody had left a beautiful deep teal-coloured male budgie in a shoe box on the front door step of the shop. As the shop didn't sell animals, only food and equipment, no prizes for guessing once again - more cages plus another friend. Don't let anyone tell you breeding budgies is difficult, which one of the pet shops told me!! At one point I had over 40 budgies (which is very noisy), and you have to spend time with each one to get thm used to being handled. Plus I had a full-time job and a daughter at junor school who needed help with her homework etc, plus a husband who thought he deserved as much attention as the birds! And then we had to move for my husband's job, and couldn't find anywhere to live that would allow me to keep so many birds, so I sadly had to give them away. I tried to insist the mated pairs were kept together but I doubt they were, and I still feel sad and guilty for them over 10 years later. They were such strong little characters, and such beautiful colours.
Its also their own personality and how you raise them. I wanted males because I wanted a social bird, but day 3 of taming my bird she LOVED being pet on the head despite not stepping up and was shy, rarely chirped. My 2 other females (sisters, which I also thought were males), like to sit on my head and are VERY talkative, and hop like the sparrows outside, but dont want to be touched. They still have distrust of hands from their breeder who gave them to me before they could even fly. Getting a cockatiel soon, still hoping for a male this time 😂
Jeeeeeez. This dude makes female budgies sound like hell spawn. Fortunately, either can be tamed into a nice little pet. They've all got their own little personality, but if I were to make sweeping generalizations based on mine, I'd say males are more affectionate, but females are more playful. A male may prefer a cuddle sesh when he gets out-of-cage time while a female might like it if you set up an activity table and play with her. Males are more likely to talk, but females are more likely to take to activities like flight training. Males will be your silly little boy, females will demand to be treated as your equal (which some see as bossy, apparently, but I think it's cute). Anyway, I've had a lot of success with both, so don't give up if you accidentally brought home a baby bird you were told was male only for its cere to turn beige when it gets a little older. You can still have a wonderful friendship with your bird.

Health Problem Considerations: I have owned 4 female budgies. Remember, even if there are no males around, female budgies will still lay eggs if the conditions are right: warm, safe, lots of food and water. I had problems with budgies laying eggs and I couldn't get them to stop. I have lost two birds due to female problems and a third had lost a leg due to female problems. One died from cancer of the ovary, and the 7-1/2 year old otherwise healthy bird got her hormones up and tried to lay and egg, but became egg-bound (the egg was partially laid and would not release). Even though I got her to the vet the following morning, she died. The last bird had laid over 30 eggs, despite our best efforts to get her to stop. She developed calcification in her kidney, which put pressure on the nerve going to her leg, resulting in a paralyzed foot. After lots of expensive vet bills, it looks like she will recover (she is no longer trying to chew off her foot), and she may have a reasonably normal life. Female budgies can have female health problems - it's a roll of the dice, according to my vet. Not that males can't have male problems - I don't have experience with that. I will say that next time I get a budgie, it will be a male, and just one at a time. Fortunately, my husband is retired and can spend lots of time with him.
I find that females are more shy and quiet (but still sing) and males are more easy going and more open to taming. Both are great but it just depends on what you want. Another thing is that females can get hormonal and aggressive

@@ilovebirds3157 I very much am😊 so far they're doing great! My goal is to give them the best budgie life possible and I love them dearly and they seem to like me because they'll come to me on their own. The previous owner said they were mean and loved to bite really hard, but I find that hard to believe because since I've had them I've given them so much attention and they trust me enough to eat from my hand and perch on me. I definitely have been doing research and learning everything there is to know about them. They both will be going for a vet visit soon so I can make sure they're both 100% healthy! Bye the way, I have 2 birds (female and male) that was like my best friends And their death date is Tikki (Female) : June 2, 2021 Ryan (Male) : May 29 The other birds? Oh.. I didn't get to write down or put their death date in my phone, sorry.
Even shopkeepers doesn't know which is male or female. I always went for a female budgie. But they gives male. Because even they don't know. Now I have 1 female and 4 males. Lol
How has the gender ratio impacted the relationship between the males? I heard for example if there’s two males and one female the two will fight for the females attention. Also two separate pet shops sold me both female budgies when I asked for a male (the first female passed away recently), so my male budgie was lonely. My intention was to get a male friend for him this time but i guess he is just a ladies man lol

I've become so attached to these 2 and will be doing everything possible to keep them happy and healthy. I love them so much and they have helped me in so many ways they'll never know.
@@annamariamoldovan4901 since I commented last I found out she is in fact a he and is a pied male he's so pretty too and my female is a lutino 😊 since October I've learned so much about them🙂
I just lost my femame budgie. Im thinking about getting a male because the female was a lot of work with the eggs, constantly laying eggs all the time every month and the constant egg binding was hard to deal with with all the time. Im thinking about a male now so iI dont have to deal with that

For Me I Would Buy Both My Female Budgie Banana Is So Friendly She Even Pairs-Up With My Lovebird Smokie And I Will Always Love My Lovebird And Budgies But My Male Budgie Frosty Is Real Rude He Even Bited My Grandma's Finger And Doens't Leave Biting It Thus Banana Is A Albino Budgie

I have a male budgie and I wanted to adopte an another one, should I buy a mal or a female ?
My female budgie's wings are a little short and she cant fly well.I think she is a 1.5 month baby what should i do is it normal?
It's okay. Keep the bird safe from potentially dangerous objects and let her train flight under your supervision.
@@lorelai999 thank you
Also give them a bigger horizontal cage so they can practice flying and strengthen the muscles needed to fly.
Loved it bro
The question is wrong! Buy always a couple ❤❤❤!
I have both genders but.. You know, my birds died and your birds look exactly like them!
Bye the way, I have 2 birds (female and male) that was like my best friends
And their death date is
Tikki (Female) : June 2, 2021
Ryan (Male) : May 29
The other birds? Oh.. I didn't get to write down or put their death date in my phone, sorry.
I have an albino budgie or parakeet and Idk what gender he is(I think it's a he tho-) so I'm very confused
who is the narrator ?
I need help with gender the guide is still confusing
Even shopkeepers doesn't know which is male or female. I always went for a female budgie. But they gives male. Because even they don't know. Now I have 1 female and 4 males. Lol
How has the gender ratio impacted the relationship between the males? I heard for example if there’s two males and one female the two will fight for the females attention.
Also two separate pet shops sold me both female budgies when I asked for a male (the first female passed away recently), so my male budgie was lonely. My intention was to get a male friend for him this time but i guess he is just a ladies man lol
Both
Cries *because i both have male parakeets = no eggs*
I have 4 budgies
2 male budgies are confirmed
1 female budgie is confirmed
Don't know about 1 he acts like a boy's but the cere is brown 😅
