I have the exact problem on my 96" Ford F150 with the same motor. Did all the same trouble shooting checks you have done. Neither fuel pumps are coming on either. I will check the wire tomorrow. I remembered I had a problem with that sender switch about 10 years ago. Good Job

I'd remove the serpentine belt and check ALL the pulleys I.e. idler pulley, alternator, a/c compressor etc and make sure none are binding up causing it to stall...you can also have the timing checked make sure its set right... Good luck man
Get a Actron CP9690 code tester. It checks live, record, graphing emissions test, oxygen sensor tests, check engine light turn off, oil maintenance light turn off, and MORE! EBAY has it. Also get a Uactivate AES #07-80 relay and circuit tester. $200.00. Also a AES Line SPI (Smart BOB) $200.00. Also Power Probe VI- $40.00. The relay tester is featured by Scanner Danner. It can bypass the fuel pump relay and start the car under the hood. It can check voltages at places on the tester.
HAHA!I had the same issue when i was doing a cluster swap, My bezel had a fake plug behind, so when I unplugged it,it would not start. Plug it back it and boom its started, kind of a stupid design.
I had the exact same thing happen. I had seen a vid of a guy changing his cluster and showed him disconnecting the switch. When I took mine bezel off I was surprised to see the plug connected. After I changed my cluster I wanted to see the tach work but it wouldn't start. It was late but I needed to fix a couple broken clips on the bezel so that the glue would be cured by mornin. I happened to notice that there was metal jumpers in the plug location. I took that part back out to the truck and reconnected and it started fine. :)
I have not been able to start my 91 f150 XLT and I just tore the dash apart to remove starting column and such. So the point is... Out of all the things I hear the issue could be I believe it's my switch. I will comment again if it was. Thanks for video.

Turned it off went to get more gas to fill both tanks. Went to prime the pumps and fired up a second time. Let it idle and it was sitting for about 3 minutes at idle with smooth firing order and someone decent gas I put in there. The tanks appear to be corroded and sure the inside of the tank is much worse. Well while it was idling it just cut off completely. Since then the truck won’t start, and does not prime. Today I caused a fire under the hood by using way too much starter fluid haha. Poured bucket of water on it before anything melted. Lol. I’m off to a great start. It did fire up with the fluid. So tomorrow I’m getting the new switch from Auto Zone. I replaced the Fuel Relay which I’m doubting is going to work since it’s a cheap aftermarket 5 pin. I’ll just put the 4 pin back when I get it going so it’s all OEM. If the switch doesn’t work, I’m deciding to replace the EEC Relay then the fuel pump. I just want to turn the key on and hear the pumps prime again. Once I hear them prime I know it’s solved. This is for everyone to see since I know this video is very old and needs to be brought back from the archives. These trucks are coming back around and we will all be where I am at. This truck will make a great work truck/classic show truck when I’m finished with it.
I got a 1996 ford f150 xl v8 one night went to crank it up , it turnt over but no start . Had a buddy to look at it , he pressed the fuel rail pressure pin then it crunk up with no problem , then next day it turn over but won’t start again. What could that be ?

Did the tank switch cause the pumps not to Prime because mine Prime's front and back I have to check for spark though still. Any feedback guys would be helpful I know this is an old video but we bought our truck brand new and it has 40,000 miles on it and it's rust free so keeping it forever.

Went to Radio Shack $2.50 of course it is not marked Front & Rear but it fit right in the hole. So I now have a switch that will shut down the fuel system as center is off and that was about 10 years ago! just had to replace both fuel tanks both were rusted out.
I just have one question though - could you not HEAR your fuel pump prime? I have an intermittent no start issue and its really driving me nuts, but I hear the fuel pump prime. I have replaced everything on my ignition side except the PIP. Could you hear your pump cut on when you were experiencing this issue?
Hey bud. Any ideas on what causes stalling when coming to a stop, or putting it in R or D? I cleaned throttle body, replaced the idle air control valve, new distributor, wires, and rotor. Runs fine but most of the time it stalls when coming to a stop after warmed up. Ideas are appreciated. 4.9L 1993.
Is there a way to tell if one tank is working vs the other one? I was told that it won't start if you flip to the bad tank but I don't have the money or another vehicle to run until I do, any advice? it's an 89 f150

no it didn't... it just cranked... you need to check the basics and eliminate fuel and spark, I'd check the plugs,cap and rotor, fuel pressure, injectors etc ...

I hear alot of people say "it would crank but not start", when it "cranks" it is running, to crank a car is to start the engine, meaning the engines spun and fired up, crank means it runs, when people say "it cranks but dont run", it sounds like it runs for a minute and cuts off, which can confuse mechanics and make it harder to diagnose if theyre not there to see what you mean. If it doesnt run,but the starter spins the engine, plz say something to that effect, bc if I hear "it cranks", I picture an engine that has been cranked up and running, when I hear it is cranking but wont start, I picture the engine firing momentarily and then dying. If someone said "Im going to go outside and crank the car so we can leave", would you thing they just bumped the starter a few times and cut it off? no, you would know theyre going to "crank" the car and let it warm up, meaning they will start the car and it will be running, thats what I think of when I hear "crank", and when people call me with problems with their car asking me what i think and they say that, it really irks me. Im not picking on you man, and Im sorry if this offends you, from one Ford truck owner to another, I appreciate the post, but I just had to say something, my wife used to say it the same way, and I guess she just got on my nerves so much with it, that its a pet peeve of mine now.

I'm pretty confident, smr, that the term goes way, way back to when a person had to grab a long bent handle out of the trunk of their Model T, walk around front, stick it through a special hole until it attaches to the pulley, and CRANK on it 'til the engine starts.
I have the same exact ford just a 90 and when I turn the key the fuel pump runs but won't shut of for between 3-10 min and will not start untill pump shuts off... Could anyone help me? By the way when started it runs fine and will start right back up its only on a cold start that it does it

Twist the steering wheel as hard as you can left and right until the key goes to the start position. I had a 95 f150 and had to do that trick every time I started it. Even after replacing the ignition barrel!
I have a 95 f150 with the 4.9l my truck died while i was driving it will crank but wont start my timing sounds bad like that might be the issue, also i just put new plugs in i checked all my wires they all seem fine

crank is to crank, either by hand or starter, a running engine is under its own power. you crank it to start it and make it run

What was the fuel quantity reading at when you had this issue did it respond when you switched tanks or did it stay the same ?

Those switches are for the ARB lockers and air compressor, wood grain is stock
If you push the front or rear tank and it measures the gasoline does it mean it works good or can it still be bad? My truck turns but wont start.

I noticed it didnt, it usually makes a lil buzzing sound (pump priming the fuel)

Bamajips... I couldn't hear the fuel pump prime per say... That's what made me know something was wrong...
