    Masking in Luminar does not even compare to 2010 LR masking. Hoping they will fix stuff.

      I do believe we will see more developments with Luminar's masking

    When Luminar does its AI masking, it takes a really long time to analyze and detect objects, and the actual masking doesn't look great either. Even though they have big ambitions to detect different materials and objects, none of it really works well.
    Maybe they should just keep it simple like Adobe does, by separating subjects, backgrounds, skies, and stuff like that quickly and accurately, and then they can add more features when their AI gets better.

      I am hopeful that it improves and that we get new masking tools too. We will see.

    Jim, thanks for the great tips. Is there a way to adjust the AI masks? I could not find one.

    • @JimNix
      @JimNix  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching and no you cannot adjust the AI Masks. You have to use a brush to make any adjustments.

    Jim, another in a long series of great tips. The adjustment on the sky, using the linear gradient was an excellent example of the tool’s value. Thank you again for sharing that.

    Thanks for this Jim, I've never been comfortable using masking, but quickly you've showed how one should be at ease with it, and the reason why! Much appreciated...ok, back to your e-book I go!

    Not sure if this is relevant, but why doesn't Luminar have a quick selection tool like photoshop. I think that would be a big helpwith masking.

    • @JimNix
      @JimNix  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that would be a huge help for sure. Hopefully someday.

    Very cool indeed. Can I ask Jim, I have the latest version of Neo but don’t see the Neon & Glow tab, only Glow. I bought a lifetime deal some years ago, does Skylum not allow this awesome new feature for life timers or is it still in Beta?
    Thnks sir for all u do

    • @JimNix
      @JimNix  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there and I am not sure. Neon & Glow is different than the older Glow tool which is also there. Perhaps check with their support about access to it?

    great tip Jim, totally agree! and also, a linear gradient lets you define the direction and degree of the fade to better complement the natural lighting was there at the scene, again for a more natural look. thanks for the tip!

    I totally agree with the radiant masking, it's awesome for landscapes (skies/water/reflections) although it's not a must on every type of picture.
